    Looking forward to you guys bringing out a new GMT kit! Great review...it's nice to see you pull a watch apart during a review and get more into the technical side of things as opposed to just focussing on fit and finish like most youtubers

    My wife just bought me this watch. My first true automatic legit watch. I'm tickled to death. Dial is stunning and the second hand sweep against that dial is very beautiful. It wears smaller than it lists on the wrist too. Skinny wrists are good cause L2L is shorter than most it seems. Wears like a 40. Fabulous watch. Recommend to anyone looking for a watch where you can invest your hard earned coin, into a do it all type durable case with movement that's going to be attractive to collectors in the future. First model year on these watches with this movement might be a wise investment, just for collection, let alone a beautiful watch.

    I’ve had my SSK003J1 now a little over a month now . I’m seriously loving this watch a lot . The only thing I changed was I added a Marine Master clasp to the stock bracelet. Definitely gives the bracelet experience a serious improvement. I own the SKX009 and this new GMT is giving my SKX a run for it’s money 💰. Receiving this watch is the most I’ve been excited for a watch to arrive in a long time. The SSK003J1 blueberry did not disappoint, extremely happy and pleased with this watch 😄👍🏻💯

      @@DIYWatchClub thanks. About two years ago I did the same with my SBDC033 Blumo and when I realized the bracelet tapered to 18 mm I ordered one right away. I just wish Seiko made a 20 mm clasp like this as well. The Marine Master clasp is one of the best adjustable clasps made for a watch .

    I'm personally more excited about the NH34 movement being available than the complete watch SSK003. The only part missing is an easy way to expand the center hole in aftermarket NH35/36 watch dials.

      You use a broach or a reamer, a standard jewellery maker tool. You'd likely need to clamp the dial between two supports (2 large acrylic washer-shaped object?) to prevent the dial flexing and chipping the paint on the dial

    BUT, if you want to change the dial, you have to ensure the central hole is slightly bigger, due to the central stem being slightly bigger. (I just found out the hard way 😱😥) No worries, I’ll use a diamond file to slightly enlarge my Marinemaster dial.

      Most people who are into watches know how to use a normal watch as a compass, but with a GMT it is even easier. With the small hour hand pointed at the Sun the GMT hand points roughly North, when in the northern hemisphere, when in the southern hemisphere it points south.

    1. How can I tell if my watch is fully wound when I wind it with the crown?
    2. How many turns of the automatic winding rotor are needed to fully wind the watch?
    Thank you!

    • @Natosap84
      @Natosap84 2 місяці тому

      Answering my own questions:
      1. At first, the crown turns easily with almost no resistance. When the mainspring is fully wound, you can feel the crown moving in small jerks, and the resistance increases. If you wind the watch after 24 hours, it usually takes about 30 turns of the crown.
      2. Around 650.

    The Seiko is a nice looking watch. However, the San Martin SN015 GMT has higher specs, and around $100 + dollars less in cost. It has a 4hz (ETA clone) movement, sapphire crystal, screw down crown, 200M water resistance, better overall finish of case and jubilee bracelet (with screws not pins), bi-direction bezel with click, anti reflective coating, super bright lume on dial AND bezel, signed crown... I feel like there is more, but you get the idea.

  • @richardharris2042
    @richardharris2042 2 роки тому +1

    I doubt the lack of screw down crown has anything to do with the water rating. The crown/stem design is exactly the same as SKX or Marinemaster, ie, the gasket is on the stem not in the crown head. I would presume the lower water resistance is because of the see through case back.

    • @ayayoutuber
      @ayayoutuber Рік тому

      plenty of 300 and 200 m see through case back watches... it's not just the back.

    • @SrJonAnthony
      @SrJonAnthony Рік тому

      Its not about the gasket, its about holding the crown down and tight. If its out and loose then water gets in no matter the gasket or oring. This a sport/diver not a iso diver. Iso must have screw downs, etc.

    • @richardharris2042
      @richardharris2042 Рік тому

      @@SrJonAnthony The gasket on the stem has no idea whether the crown is screwed down or not. Threads on a metal crown provide zero extra water resistance.

    • @SrJonAnthony
      @SrJonAnthony Рік тому

      @richardharris2042 threads when tightened squeeze the gasket. What are we debating here? When the water pressure exceeds that of the "unsqueezed" gasket. Thats also why oiling the gaskets is important( repelling water). If your crown is torn off or bent while fully extended then water is getting in. Screwing it down prevents this. We all understand this right?

    • @richardharris2042

    I've had this watch for 3 months now. Like it. But case diameter should be 40mm at most. Case height should be lower from 14.5 to 13mm. And if Seiko makes it water resistant for 200 meters like its predecessor the SKX, it would be the perfect GMT dive watch under $500. By the way, a true GMT movement is overrated. Sure, you can move the hour hand, but setting the date is a pain. The date on a caller GMT is a lot easier to set.

I think I will wait till more GMT on market and this GMT will get push to more sub 300$ price.
    the GMT is a really low cost addition to the Seiko cheap movement ..probably only cost few dollars and they charge 200$ more for the watch...

      @Elite Elite It's actually a bargain for what you are getting. You will probably buy a Chinese homage brand with those specs you mention under $450, no doubt. Ironically, it will have an NH34 (made by, cough cough Seiko) because those Chinese brands are not capable nor have the knowledge of making a movement themselves. Let the big boys such as Seiko, Miyota make the movements. Keep buying your cheap, high spec. homage watches.

      All watches that arw hype get inflated prices at release to take advantage of said hype, thats how pefit and business work. Theyre 300$ now and nothing beats these at 500$.
