THIS...is what I've been waiting for! The only thing I see as disappointing is the inability to swap chapter rings. I hope Crystal Times will step up with a line of GMT chapter rings to fit the SKX cases. Thanks!
Hey for what it's worth,,, the Yoon name at the top of the dial adjacent to to 12 position looks so unique. It's a detail in the openworks that really finishes it. Please continue with that style!
New into watches and the modding situation but my dilemma is that in a perfect world I’d love the GMT with a coke bezel. I really love the GMT but if I can’t get the coke, I’d do an SKX coke and get the new GMT at a later date. Thoughts?
I'm looking to mod the Seiko SSK023, I was thinking of a nice lacquered polar dial with black black indices, I would keep the Seiko GMT hand but I wan the sec, min and hour hand to be black so it can contrast well with white dial.
The font used for Yoon looks bad IMO. My suggestion would be to use a Minimal Sans Serif font and to increase the space between characters as well since it's just 4 letters, currently it looks overstuffed/compressed, there's too much space for 4 letters, use it well. Good luck!
It is kinda weird. Especially considering miyota just released a true gmt at the same time. Ironically, I’ve noticed gmt watches have become more popular since COVID
Just yesterday I checked to see if I'd missed this video. Thanks for the putting in the leg work so we don't have to. This was everything I wanted to know. Now... hopefully the mod manufacturers get on those GMT hands quickly.
From what I gathered then its possible to use a 007 case with a NH34 movement and a SSK dial. Have it as screw down crown. Take the spring off the bezel and have a bidirectional bezel. Inner chapter ring markings and bezel inserts for the 007 cases, with 24h scales are plentiful on the aftermarket. That way having a GMT SKX 007 with 200m water resistance. My only concern is that extra clearance needed with a NH34 on a 007 case. Have I missed something?
This is exactly what I want to do. It would honestly be the perfect watch for me. You could use a double dome to get enough clearance from what I have seen but its very very close. I'd rather wait for some new case designs which im sure will come since this movement is so well recieved.
I love the spiraling look on your own dial, I have been searching for those, actually have been looking for "wallpapers" for my apple watch, also have been searching for the Asanoha look on my watch bcs I am thinking for a long time now to get a Sharp Edge GMT... I just wanna see if I would get used to the look or not... basically a completely mechanical counter part to it...
Like others have said, this is exactly the info I've been looking for. And more. I came here interested in issues I might run into using the NH34, but got much more than that. I'm at the point with my watch building hobby that I want to start creating my own dials, and stop sourcing ones that don't match all of my needs. Inspired to give it a go! Subbed instantly
Just saw this video! Love to see my fellow Korean (and we have the same last name) in the watch game! Making waves out there! Question, I have a new SSK001 and also a new SRPD55. You said in a previous comment that the gmt movement fits the srpd case, but can I actually transfer the “guts” of the SSK into the SRPD case with no modifications? Like the movement, dial, hands and chapter ring from the SSK into the SRPD? If not, what would I need to make it fit the SRPD case? I would love to get the click bezel back. Thanks!
Are the lug spaces and sizes the same between the SKX and SSK? I'm looking at an interesting rubber strap which comes with a stainless steel end link for it. It's designed for the SKX so not sure if it will fit the SSK as well. TIA.
Hey, I want to get started in watchmaking. I’m still in high school. What should I start doing. I want to make a watch from scratch. So, I want to get a nh36 and get every other part of the watch. Is this good or should I buy a cheap watch and open it then mod it? Another question what is you occupation? It fine if you don’t want to answer, but I saw that you have tow ap’s. Thank you for these amazing videos.
Nice video , out of curiosity what would be the route if I just wanted to upgrade to ceramic bezel insert? Could I use bezel insert mods which are for the SRPD models? Thanks!
I bought the Seiko 5 gmt and thinking about modding it. I'm new to the game, complete novice here. Question: Can I put an SKX/SRPD Double domed sapphire crystal in the SSK CASE? Would it fit/work?? Thanks
cause im planning to add a 4R32 movement to an SKX031, So far everything I’ve noted is: - new dial or modify old one - pinion height might interfere with the crystal - buy a gmt hand (duh) the only thing I need to know now is if the movement thickness wont get in the way with the caseback?
Man as soon as I saw the new gmt movement I knew I wanted to make a new build with one of the skx171 dials that I have and it SUCKS so bad that I can’t make it happen. Gutted.
To sum it up: standard dials will not fit without modification. You’re better off throwing an NH34 into an SKX/SRPD case instead of using the SSK case.
Hey, do you prefer making your own dials? 😂. Jk....'cause you said that at least 3 times. Fantastic informative video I love your mods and your vids! Keep up the great work and congratulations on your new Yoon line ❤️
Hello, very good videos and tutorials of great quality. I have discovered your channel and I find it very interesting, but I am facing a language barrier. Could you consider enabling Spanish subtitles for your wonderful videos? Thank you very much and greetings from Spain. ( Google Traductor )
So, when switching over to an skx type case will you need to use the chapter ring for the gmt watch or can you then use a skx type chapter ring? You also seemed to mention something about crystal fit on a skx case but never followed up? Thanks for work sorting through all this, can’t wait to get busy.
Hi I have follows your video for quite a while. Do u know how to remove a really tight stock bezel ? I have mod my seiko 5kx and got my frd into it. We couldn’t remove his bezel on the srpd63 which is a recent model. we just uses the bezel tool and the sharp edge knife comes with the kit. Any advice? Thanks!
HELP! I need to build a diver with 39 mm maximum diameter and 11,5/12 mm maximum thickness Crystal included, i am thinking about an ETA 2892 but can't figure out the right case, and if it does exists...
The reason I would never ever buy a Seiko is because it the misaligned dial a problem that they have never resolved for the steep price they charge for there watch collection plus the lack of sapphire glass for dials and ceramic bezels when other dive watches from other company's that use Japanese Seiko NH35 and NH35a movements but also use sapphire glass and ceramic bezels as standard at a fraction of Seiko's price's..🧐🇬🇧

Been waiting for this video! So nice of you!
Thank you.! This is the best watch mod channel. I'm very grateful that you make these videos.
Thanks so much!
New to watch making. To enlarge the hole in the ‘standard’ dial, would you recommend hand drilling, or a round file?
Great overview of SSK to SKX.
Very helpful for those wanting to mod these. Definitely not my wheel house, but still appreciate the video for learning something new

Thanks for the feedback - still not finalized on the design including the logo, but it was just to get an idea of how big / where it should be.
I am very excited to see what comes from this new movement. I wonder why Seiko did not create this movement years ago?
It is kinda weird. Especially considering miyota just released a true gmt at the same time.
Ironically, I’ve noticed gmt watches have become more popular since COVID
@@mariog7213 I have no need for a GMT complication,, but I would take it over the Day complication.

Is it possible to do this mod and also add day window?
That would be so perfect an skx watch with NH 34 movement for GMT function and day date window.

Love modding! Great stuff!
One question about the standard SSK Jubilee bracelet - would if fit the SKX? Cant find an answer anywhere. Thanks!

Are the straps interchangeable with the SKX's and SRPD models, whether they're leather or steel?

Great video, but where do you go to get your dial face design actually _made_ ?
I would love to replace crystal with sapphire, and have bidirectional click bezel. A signed crown would be nice too
Nice video thanks for the info. Love the dial you designed. Also very cool to keep similarities to the skeleton dial you made. Great eye for design
HI, thank you for the great video, it helps tremendously. I was wondering where did you get those hands from?
Do you know if aftermarket SKX slim casebacks will fit these?
What is the center dial hole difference?? Thanks for the video!
Does changing out the crystal to Double dome Sapphire affect the water resistance?
I've been waiting for this video. Thanks for uploading.
Will The New Sumo GMT solar work with an automatically Seiko GMT movement? Planning a movement switch
thanks for testing and sharing the info. hoping to see your version soon
Anyway you can change the insert on the GMT to a Pepsi?
You are the man!! Love your content, it is all spot on!

To eliminate the dial.
I bought the Seiko 5 gmt and thinking about modding it. I'm new to the game, complete novice here. Question: Can I put an SKX/SRPD Double domed sapphire crystal in the SSK CASE? Would it fit/work?? Thanks
Great stuff, thank you!
What about the bracelet? Will strape codes for skx or series on
I got the SSK027 and wanted to swap the bezel insert. Can't find a black PVD bezel smh :)
Thank you for the content you share...fantastic work and valuable information!
Very nice.....carry on my man.
Is it possible to have a properly clicking ring?
So this might sound like a long shot but would it be possible to switch out the 4r34 movement for the miyota 9075 or the NH36?
You do fantastic work! Any chance you can do a Seitona build?
Wait, NH35/36 dials aren’t compatible with the new NH34?!
is a 13mm second hand able to clear a double domed crystal in a SKX case?
Just tried to fit a Namoki mods nmk 304 saphire to my ssk…….it fits but its way to thick and sits proud by 2mm🤷🏼♂️
wont movement thickness from the gmt movement interfere with the skx case specifically caseback? aside from the pinion height?

Yup

I heard you like to make your own dials.
So much useful info packed into 8 minutes!

Is it possible to build a smaller gmt like skx13
Now to wait for after market movements...
I might get it modded by you, you're my favorite modder Erick... Though Seiko's new GMT is a fucking tank lol
Great video!
Hi, Can you please do a mod video for seiko chronograph?
Thanks for sharing this info!
What lubricants are you using?
where can I get a black srpd case?
What about bracelets for the SSK case? I’ve heard that SKX bracelets don’t fit but would an SRPD bracelet fit on a SSK case?
I‘d bet they fit, I got the oem skx007 jubilee on my srpd and I am waiting for the ssk bracelet to be available because it‘s got solid endlinks.
@@chevy3321 I ended up buying oyster bracelets from Strapcode to fit SKX and SRPD. They both fit perfectly on my SSK 🙌
hello! Is it possible to make a mod on this movement to get a full batman/pepsi GMT? with a jubilee bracelet or oyster?
All good, thanks
Hey, do you prefer making your own dials? 😂. Jk....'cause you said that at least 3 times. Fantastic informative video I love your mods and your vids! Keep up the great work and congratulations on your new Yoon line ❤️
Great info!
With some extra change in my pocket, I'll be picking up an SSK003, but I'm going to want a sapphire crystal.
Hi question, im new to this watch modding niche, can you provide me a site or a group where i can look for aftermarket parts for 7002?
Dagaz still has some I believe. Then eBay. Crystal Times might have crystals for 7002
What's the song used from 0:50 to 1:19?
May i swim with this Seiko GMT 001?

Hi from Japan, I’ll try to make my Seiko mod!
Thank you for amazing video🎉🎉
Can we get a gundam gmt mod
awesome
New sub here
Just checked out the website!
The black one with the gold bezel and crown🔥🔥🔥🤯

Yup was waiting for the crystal info ☹️
No problem! Just use a double domed crystal. SSK chapter ring is not compatible.

Is the bracelet able to be changed?
The one is comes with is very light and “cheap”
the bezel not clicking is such a shame

Hallo bro
I would love to order but our economy is about to take a big dive. Hopefully people in the USA will get smart and get rid of the Democrat spenders.
