Not just the Seiko GMT, the other watches are cool too. A small opinion, please stop buying TUDOR. It's definitely a great watch but we all know it's Rolex's sub brand. So what's happening is, assume there's 100 people and 50 of them have the money to buy a Rolex. But Rolex wants to be exclusive so they sell it to only 20 people. Manufacturing isn't a problem but they simply wanna keep it exclusive as we know more demand and low supply is directly proportional to the brand's value. And since Rolex wants the money anyway they've released Tudor. Now the other 30 people can buy Tudor and since the price is low another 20 people from the remaining 50 who can't afford, now buys a Tudor which directly brings the money that Rolex would've lost without Tudor. So please understand that a Tudor is never a Rolex even though it's a sub brand of Rolex. Either get a Rolex or just buy anything where Rolex isn't included. They want to be exclusive, let them be exclusive. Once they're pulled back down to earth they'll open up for all.
Great review. I have owned one since feb 2023 and i have to say i really do like it. It keeps the time well but not like my certina its usually 3 secs out a day. I am a fan of Seiko but I dont really like the idea of recycling old model series over and over, I'm tired of it. Especially with this GMT, taking an old 1000 times recycled design and a dial, add a GMT hand. Not even mentioning sometimes poor quality control of their watches. It has dive style feel but it's just an illusion. Seiko Alpinist with GMT thats on the way seems better to me and with many GMT watches coming out lately, I'd wait for Orient GMT... atleast that's what I'm expecting as their move for the market, to jump on the GMT train.
I have a 1980 Seiko quartz that I got for my high school graduation. It stopped about 2015. That’s 35 years. It has sentimental value, so I had it repaired and it runs fine. That’s pretty good quality.
I liked the watch when I looked at it , but the bezel is free moving with no definite click , that’s what put me off, whoever thought that would be ok needs sacking
Nodus Sector GMT can be had at just under $500. It uses a Seiko NH34 movement. I would say the Nodus is a pretty original design, but I prefer the look of the Seiko SSK personally. At under $500 they’re all coming with the Seiko movement at this point.
Great review the comments are right on.I still don't get Seiko I have an Orient Kamasu for less than half the price and it has a sapphire crystal.Best advice is the price of this watch will come down so just wait.At this price you are better spending about 25% more to get a Seiko that's 100% better.
I have a Orient Kamasu as well and it is a heck of a nice watch for price but I believe your paying for the movement in Seiko GMT. If Orient used the 4R34 I would suspect an increase in there price. I just ordered the Seiko GMT and got it for 363.00 before tax.
@Gwapo Greg Keep an eye out for sales. I got 2 of my seiko 5's with promo code for 225.00 each. I mean look at the Kamasu it is listed for 550.00. Which I believe is over priced and would not pay that much for it but it is usually listed on sale for a little 300.00 direct through Orient. I paid about 360.00 with tax and shipping for mine Direct and thought that was more reasonable. I might also be a bit biased too though, as I really like the Seiko brand. so what alternatives are better for the MSRP price? Are there ANY GMT at that price that are better? Unless you are comparing with non GMT watches. What is your wrist size?
6.5-6.75 inches. Better is completely subjective. At this price point the main movements are the Seiko (or their NH35) movement, and the Miyota 9075 (true GMT). Sellita 330 is usually a little more, while Timex Q GMTs are half the price. Just based on specs I would say a watch like the San Martin SN0136, Squale or Steinhart GMT are better made, but not as original in their designs. Glycine has some original designed GMT options as well.
It was just a cheap watch repair kit off Amazon. Made in china, so it’s pretty trash. I would probably recommend getting something better to be honest.
I need advice. I want more than one of these due to the colors. Should I just find the color I like the most and go with that? Are two of the same watch justified simply for the different color? I’m sure watch collectors struggle with this.
I have only owned two of the same watch twice. The Tudor BB58 and two Seiko Alpinists. I sold one of the BB58s and I will probably sell one of the Seiko Alpinists later this year. If you can see them both in person it should make it easier to decide. Otherwise I would go with the one you equally like that is different than the rest of your collection. For example if you already have plenty of black watches… go for the blue dial.

I have had good luck with several Hardlex watches. I think they are a treated mineral crystal with a little more hardness. I often scratch plain mineral crystal. Seiko also does a good job having recessed crystal surfaces on their tool watches which also helps protect the crystal.
@@a_commisso77 Seiko does a great job of keeping a short lug to lug so it wears smaller thank the case width would suggest. It still sits relatively tall on the wrist so I wouldn’t wear it with a suit or sport coat.

I have had plenty of bad luck with mineral crystals. Seiko’s Hardlex is noticeably a step up from mineral. Since I have a press a sapphire crystal swap can be done for about $40 so for me it isn’t a complete deal breaker. The cheap clasp is a bigger hurdle for me personally.

This Seiko 5 series could have been a great watch and a fantastic value if it did not have a major fault. Its major huge fault is that its poor bezel turn very easily, it does not have a ratcheted stops, so therefore it keeps rotating, turning, very easily and this of course messes up our GMT settings. Shame on Seiko's engineers and designers for this unforgivable mistake. I just bought this model and had to return it after just one day of use because of this huge weakness. Shame on Seiko for messing up a good watch.
Great video, however I believe he passed over the importance that this GMT is NOT a true traveller's GMT. I had been waiting a year for this watch to come out and I bought it at a discount at Macy's for 25% about two weeks ago. I also own a Rolex GMT Master II which has what is called a Traveller's GMT function. I was looking for a less expensive, beater GMT watch for traveling. The true Traveller's GMT function works by keeping the GMT hand as your home time and the hour and minutes hands keep your local, travel destination or non-home time. That way you can adjust the hour hand to match your local (travel destination, non-home) time without adjusting the minute hand, only adjusting the hour hand. A very useful function when traveling. I was playing with the Seiko GMT function and it was not working as I expected compared to my Rolex GMT Master II. The kind of GMT function which the Seiko SSK003 has is what some call an Office GMT function. I did not realize that when I bought it and returned because it did not have a Traveller's GMT type function. You won't find the Traveller's GMT function in less expensive watches because it is a more complicated function to manufacture.
@@giorgiotamo2543 I understand the price difference but if you want a traveller's GMT function which is what I was going to use this watch for and what I suspect most other users will want it for, then this is not the watch for you, no matter the cheap price.
@@lexieshores3889thanks for the info but I am failing to understand how exactly it fails to do what you want ? Is it simply inaccurate and unusable to keep track of two or three timezones ?
@@ThatGuy-sc5rx The Seiko has a Office GMT function, not a Traveler's GMT function. I wanted to use the watch when traveling. If I am in another time zone when traveling, to me that is my local time and I want the hour hand to read as local time. That is the convenient way to read a watch for me wherever I am, especially when traveling. Setting the GMT hand to be local time (as the Seiko requires) when traveling is not convenient and more difficult to read. Thanks.

I have a 1980 Seiko quartz that I got for my high school graduation. It stopped about 2015. That’s 35 years. It has sentimental value, so I had it repaired and it runs fine. That’s pretty good quality.
I have a SSK003 on my left wrist, a white gold wedding ring and a black Amazon Halo band on my right arm. Now all I need is a black Henley.
Twinning
I liked the watch when I looked at it , but the bezel is free moving with no definite click , that’s what put me off, whoever thought that would be ok needs sacking
$380 at Teddy Baldassarre and Long Island Watch. Both reputable sellers.
I have many expensive watch and this one was a steal for me (skx sport gmt) one of my favorite watch
Warna favorite seiko gmt batman
I was able to get it for $250 from Kohl's, can't beat that.
Great pickup.
same..$268 I think..but then got 60 kohls bucks too.
Seriously Seiko are making a mockery of the over priced Swiss frauds
Bro, even at the price point, it’s a sub $500 gmt lol there are no others
Can someone please tell me who the other contenders are providing a mechanical GMT for under $500 and no I'm not including in that homage watches!
Nodus Sector GMT can be had at just under $500. It uses a Seiko NH34 movement. I would say the Nodus is a pretty original design, but I prefer the look of the Seiko SSK personally. At under $500 they’re all coming with the Seiko movement at this point.
I really want to buy a Seiko 003 but it's hard for me to spot the fake one in my area.
@@mick76 But even the regular Seiko 5 is over priced
@Gwapo Greg Keep an eye out for sales. I got 2 of my seiko 5's with promo code for 225.00 each. I mean look at the Kamasu it is listed for 550.00. Which I believe is over priced and would not pay that much for it but it is usually listed on sale for a little 300.00 direct through Orient. I paid about 360.00 with tax and shipping for mine Direct and thought that was more reasonable. I might also be a bit biased too though, as I really like the Seiko brand. I own a SKX007J1 aswell and just ordered a Forzo, which is a micro brand, and they use a Seiko movement aswell.
@@mick76 I have seen the Seiko 5 Pepsi in Canada for under %300 Can but the gmt I never see it for less than $585 Can.I could kick myself for not getting the Pepsi.
@Gwapo Greg is the Pepsi your referring to a Chrono?
This is m my first time watching your videos, and im very impressed. Very thorough breakdown, solid review, and its straight to the point. You just earned my sub! Keep it up man
the Seiko GMT is the best looking and excellent quality
I worked a photog gig for a high end real estate firm..all the guys where wearing Rolex. One watch i could see across the sunlit room. It was a Rolex Batman with a jubilee..stunning...the next day I bought this watch and I am hooked on this strap and the Batman colors...it looks like its much more expensive though taking it off my vacation wrist in favor of a Casio. Or maybe its my non street walking watch..
oh so you CAN wind it. Mine is on its way and in another video it mentioned that there's no winding so I was confused
thought of snaggin' one of those. they're nice looking!
Not sure you’d pick it over your GMT Master II, maybe if you’re planning on traveling to London 😂
@@burbinghard haha I’d probably still go batman. sometimes these accounts are blown outta proportion. ‘sides this time of year it’s easy to hide these tools under sleeves. just wish the uk wasn’t so pansy about guns.
Hi, thank you for your video, can you please provide the link where to buy the tool kit to adjust the band?
@@Tuan_Nguyen90 the exact set I purchased isn’t available any longer. You can purchase a set from Amazon or AliExpress. Just be sure to check the reviews first. Like anything you get what you pay for, but I am just an occasional tinker.
I'm not a fan of Jubilee bracelets. That and the price makes this watch kind of unappealing to me.
The price is too high? I gotta say, jubilee bracelets are probably the most comfortable configuration.
Just got one through K ohl's with a 40% off coupon for 240 plus ended up with 50 in K cash to spend next week. Once in a while they have a few nice Seikos in stock. It is an odd place to get them, but when you have the right coupon you might get lucky
Ya, when Kohl’s has a good sale Seikos can be had on the cheap! Nice find, and thanks for sharing.
so what alternatives are better for the MSRP price? Are there ANY GMT at that price that are better? Unless you are comparing with non GMT watches.
What is your wrist size?
6.5-6.75 inches. Better is completely subjective. At this price point the main movements are the Seiko (or their NH35) movement, and the Miyota 9075 (true GMT). Sellita 330 is usually a little more, while Timex Q GMTs are half the price. Just based on specs I would say a watch like the San Martin SN0136, Squale or Steinhart GMT are better made, but not as original in their designs. Glycine has some original designed GMT options as well.
I’m planning to add this watch to my collection
003 for my wrist as it fits well in small wrist
I also one one, and its back on the shelf. Too big for me, Tudor Black bay gmt is the best size wise for me.
What's your wrist size ?
hey, great review! can you link what resize tool kit you were using? thanks!
It was just a cheap watch repair kit off Amazon. Made in china, so it’s pretty trash. I would probably recommend getting something better to be honest.
@@burbinghard thank you sir, i’ll have to do that
Literally just bought it off GovX for $300 😮💨
junk
Dunno if it will looks ok on my 8 inches wrist for the 42.5 case mm.
You think it would be too small?
@@burbinghard thank you! I want the seikos srpk33 and srpk35 teal and orange
Just bought mine for 307! Can’t wait to get it in the wrist
“ I don’t like wearing this watch when traveling in high crime areas”. Who even talks like this? Nice dog whistle.
People that visit areas that are known for high rates of pickpocket/theft. Rome, Barcelona, Paris, London. Not sure what you mean by dog whistle. I certainly consider the area I’m traveling to when planning for a trip. I think most experienced travelers do.
People who talk like this are people with expensive watches. You obviously aren’t one of them.
There are lowlifes out there who would mug you for the change in your pocket, never mind an expensive watch.
Excelenteee !!🎉
Really good review. Right on point. Enjoyed it. 👏👏
Future classic there.
I think you’re right
I think you’re right
good
Half hour increments for the gmt…
This one has a friction bezel so it has more than 48 bezel positions.
Great review man
However, is hardlex crystal any good for daily use?
I have had good luck with several Hardlex watches. I think they are a treated mineral crystal with a little more hardness. I often scratch plain mineral crystal. Seiko also does a good job having recessed crystal surfaces on their tool watches which also helps protect the crystal.
its a cheap seiko, save your money and buy a omega or a rolex ,seikos are made for the Japanese wage slave
Yo what tudor model was in the intro?😊
Tudor Royal in 38mm
I went with the grey and black, looks great but I love the subtle blue on this version, kind of giving me a little buyers remorse.
That gray and black looks great as well. I went with the blue because I already had a ton of black dial watches.
@@burbinghardI went with black because I have a ton of blue. 😊
@@Pianoman999 probably the right decision then 👍🏻
Benchmade custom shop bugout?
Yes. Love it.
What’s your wrist size
About 6.5”
How does it wear for you? I’m nervous about getting a watch big given that I usually wear smaller ones
@@a_commisso77 Seiko does a great job of keeping a short lug to lug so it wears smaller thank the case width would suggest. It still sits relatively tall on the wrist so I wouldn’t wear it with a suit or sport coat.
@@burbinghard I'm glad i looked in the comments before asking for your wrist size haha. Mine is 6.5" too, surprised how well this seems to wear for smaller wrists. Considering i NEVER look at anything over 40. But i may make an exception for this one. Still like the watch?
@@minimalistmaverick I think the lug to lug length is more important than case width. Seiko keeps the lug length compact on this one ☝🏻
does it have a sapphire glass??
No it’s Seiko hardlex. I think it’s not as scratch resistant as sapphire but better than a generic mineral crystal.
What is your wrist size?
About 6.5” maybe a little bigger.
Pagani design has sapphire
Ya, their finishing is ish though. I have checked out several of their offerings. I just can’t 😞
No sapphire? I’m out.
Gorgeous watch!
Great video. Subbed
Thanks for the support 🙏🏻
Just bought the SSK001 for $315. Easy buy
Ya it’s hard to resist the temptation at that price. Congratulations 👏🏻 👏🏻
New? from where?
@@minimalistmaverick govx, currently $300 on there brand new with box
@@jacobculley5790 nice. Guessing you’re ex military or first responder for the discount? Idk why jomashop doesn’t have many of the seiko gmt’s yet. That’s where I usually like to go. How you enjoying the watch so far?
@@minimalistmaverick no complaints on my end, I’ve got 3 other seikos (snxs79, srpj17, srpg35) and this one is my favorite. Also is not too big on a smaller wrist.
Great review. The watch looks nice, like a Dive watch but doesn't work like one...really.
I am happy with my SKX007, just upgraded the strap with Strapcode/ Miltat Jubilee and I am good.
All time classic!
what is your wrist size
Around 6.5” under 6.75”.
Shame on Seiko for messing up a good watch.
terrible music disklike
Come fai a confrontare un orologio da 350€,con uno da 10000€ ,non è un paragone giusto
@@ThatGuy-sc5rx not as convenient to track different time zones when travelling
@@ThatGuy-sc5rx The Seiko has a Office GMT function, not a Traveler's GMT function. I wanted to use the watch when traveling. If I am in another time zone when traveling, to me that is my local time and I want the hour hand to read as local time. That is the convenient way to read a watch for me wherever I am, especially when traveling. Setting the GMT hand to be local time (as the Seiko requires) when traveling is not convenient and more difficult to read. Thanks.
Orient is a competitor !!!!
From Seiko to other swiss watches, huh?
You're buying this watch for less than $400? Where can I get one (from a legitimate seller)? I like the black
When you say “legitimate seller” I think you mean authorized dealer. I don’t care if my Seiko is from the AD. I just did an EBay search and see them for $390 from sellers with 99% positive feedback and thousands of transactions.
