- Today we installed a new head unit and wired in for an amp on my buddies 2010 Chevy Impala! I'll show you the best place we found to run the main power wire back to the trunk as well as where you can look to find a keyed hot wire to power the head unit and the amp. Hope this is as helpful to you as it was fun for me to help with. Please give this a thumbs up if you enjoyed it and consider subscribing!

*Same car, 2 Skar SDR’s, Skar 1200 amp, extra battery in the back, 2 250 ANL fuse, 4 gauge all around. Sounds really good!!* 👍🏾
Awesome! I bet!
Great video, started off as a "tutorial" thought I might learn from ya. .Ends up being an "triumphant against all odds" story where I'm rooting for you guys to finish before dark. I was about to hop in the bucket and go for a road trip. We woulda got her done for ya
Thanks! 😂
Just for everybody else you should definitely put the wires together and then to the battery
Correct. When I ran the power wire I left it off the battery until it was run and I took the fuse out when I hooked it to the battery and I didn’t put the fuse in until everything was done and I went to test it! Don’t want a short!
would have been nice to see you feed the amp cable thru to the trunk all the way instead of cutting right to putting in the glovebox hinge pins. I was really hoping to find out how to get my backup camera cable from the trunk to the passenger compartment.
This was a while ago. I think I did a lot of prying the back of the seat a lot with one person in the trunk looking for the end of the wire and one person in the back seat feeding it thru
Where do you get the wiring connecter from?link?
Sorry this was from a while ago I don’t have one
Just about to do mine. What does that fuse you are talking about do. I also went the cheaper route and did not get the kit that keeps the chimes? Will this effect the remote start at all?
Is it shorts out it won't burn down your car or blow up the battery
Not sure
New here to your channel 👍stay connected
Welcome! Hope you find things that are helpful here!
Where you get the factory harness? I cant just find the harness for 2006 and up? Without getting interface
Somewhere on Amazon. Sorry that was a while ago 😅
eBay
what are the name of those pins holding the trunk my car is missing that.
Not sure
Where’d you get the wire harness adapter I can’t find it anywhere
I'm not sure 100% because he got all the pieces himself but I'm pretty sure everything was on amazon.
Most stereos come with it but I have a 08 impala Lt & Walmart sells the 1 my car needed for $70. They have plenty others for under $20. Walmart got everything this car needs for stereo installation
So that wiring harness lost SWC and Chimes correct?
This was quite a while ago but I’m pretty sure we lost those
Can you do a video on how you found that firewall hole?
I don’t have that car anymore. Sorry
@@ToyShop9665it's all good. What did you use to get the wire through? I found the grommet and am just waiting on the stereo to get here tomorrow
It’s super easy
Where did u get ur after market wire at that goes in to the factory harness
Pretty sure just amazon. But look at crutchfield!
Wrong person my bad
Where did you get the adaptor ?
Pretty sure just amazon but I’d recommend crutchfield.com
I have an amp and sub and wires that I pulled from my 95 saturn that had an JVC after market in it. am i able to wire the amp and sub to my 2011 impala's factory stuff??
I unplugged the sub when it on the saturn because it kept killing alternators and batteries I realized (all the gear was already in the car when i bought it). Think my impala would need a different alternator or something??
I’d have to look but you might only need to change your wiring adaptor. And as long as your battery and alternator are good and you play music when the car is running you shouldn’t have issues.
Let me guess, the wiring harness for the head unit didnt work right? You need the metra kit or scosche kit to keep the audible warming chimes, remote power, and for onstar to work properly..

Update. I posted my comment before i watched the whole video.
You’re all good 😂
Crutchfield has the kit
Why buy a $25 fuse when you can use an old wire hanger cheeeeaap. $$$
I’m not saying I’d never do it but no 😂
No kind of part numbers or anything.... Just constructive criticism
Sorry I was pretty new at UA-cam when I made this 😅
