Man that's why the car didn't start after installing the throttle body , I forgot to kick it ! Thanks for the very informative video..

I think you did a good job explaining and visually showing us step by step to fix. You made it more simple to understand. thank you
Was mad about not knowing what was going on with my car and you provided perfect information and the kick to the car really made my day better and I thank you for that😂
I feel like I had this problem years ago with my impala and I also changed the this part and it worked. But forgot all about it and now I have the same problem again, and this helps thanks!
This has to be the realest repair video on UA-cam to date! Lol shows 100% of the struggle
Thanks for watching! And you are correct. It IS a struggle...
Hello please what do you think is wrong with my 🚗
@@lifeafterlife8417 hi
The dynamite comments made me cry. Love it, and relate. Thanks
I was 5 hours away from home in George Town Kentucky going to fort Wayne Indiana. Power shutting off. Watched this video. Bought parts and tools. Swapped out throttle body in front of an AutoZone . 60 miles down the road now. No problems. You're a life saver !!
So glad to get that good news! Thanks for watching.
Made it safe my man thank you greatly once again .
The crickets in the background is a nice touch.
l got that same light on a 2012 chevy silverado and they couldn’t find the problem or the dealer and but if they found the problem after 3 days it was the computer
🦗🦗🦗🦗
I wish the warning chime was the sound of crickets. Three chirps for engine power reduced would suffice.
Cleaned my out and reduced power was over, thanks for the video
Man I love being a Chevy vict.. *caugh owner
My 2002 chevy 2500 just gave me this reduced power code and the truck wouldn't go more than 15mph with the throttle to the floor. The truck would always stall on me like it was having the gas shut off. It would do this at low speeds or in idle. It stalled on me today and wouldn't start. Ran the battery dead turning it over. Finally decided to start with a jump but then had the reduced engine power...Thanks for this video!
This really is the fix!!! Another comman problem that happens too is engine hot/ ac off. Just replace thermostat, it's stuck open do not waste time money on sensor!!!
lucashernandez8 I didn't replace thermostat just clear codes a.c. hot is caused by coolant temp sensor.
star child chevy dealer did same for my impala, just to have to take back to dealer and have thermostat replaced as i suggested to them from beginning.
Just had this issue in my friends Equinox. You got a sub for the dynamite joke at the beginning. That's the easy fix for most car problems lmao
Edit : Just finished the video. Thanks so much for the crystal clear view and great information.
Mines currently does this all the time for the past year 🥴
So this fixed the equinox?
Having this issue right now. Want driving and all of a sudden my check engine light came on and my reduced engine power was on my dash. Thanks for the advice. Will be doing this project tomorrow.
let me know how it went having the same issue
I had this same issue with my 2011 Chevy Impala, replaced the gas pedal and It fixed the problem.
I wonder if that's my issue. 03 Tahoe. I've tried everything else.
I tried that didn't work
So In late January this year I had the exact problem before my road trip then After hours of research I install a new pedal and it works. BUT now end of October having the same problem I wonder if I put another pedal will it work.
I put a scanner and the problem is the main computer I haven't fucked with it but just letting you know
This happened on my 2010 Impala. The check engine, ABS and traction control lights would all come on and reduced power mode would activate. I replaced the entire gas pedal assembly and it fixed it. $80 for the part.
Mac Neoh Same thing happened with mine! I was driving cross country by myself on the highway and it locked up so I couldn't steer. Managed to make it to an autozone and they diagnosed the problem and I had the part installed by my uncle.
Johnje Jasper Nice!! Saves you about $300 dollars doing it yourself.
Can you tell me the name of the part i need for my car the same thing is going on with my car abs the traction control is on and also the engine reduce lights comes on im a single mom is haard for me to get help especially me paying everything thanks God bless
solo Dios me Puede jusgar, I took my car to O'Reilly's Auto Parts store and had them test it with their code reader. The code came up for the gas pedal position sensor. There are other things that can cause this, so make sure you have the codes read on your car at an auto parts store. They will do this for free. If it is the gas pedal, you will be replacing the entire gas pedal. The tools you will need are; a 10mm ( I think it was a 10mm) socket wrench with a small extension, and a small flathead screwdriver. It will take about 35 minutes and less than $85 for the part to fix. Remove the 2 10mm bolts from the floor of the car that secure the gas pedal, pull the gas pedal out a few inches to get to the wire harness and use the small flathead screwdriver to unclip the wire harness, remove old gas pedal. Put the new gas pedal in in reverse order. It is really easy and they will charge a few hundred for this at the dealership. Again, make sure it is the gas pedal relay sensor by having the codes read at an auto parts store. This is a very common problem with the Impalas and Malibu. I hope this helps you.
Mac Neoh thanks alot so i just go to the O'Reilly store and ask them to do a code reader or i just let them know the problem im having with my car ?
In my case, after cleaning the throttle body and running ground wires, the scan tool still gave me 17 codes relating to the TPS, the accelerator sensors, etc. so I knew the problem was not in the throttle body. After checking the wiring harnesses again, I found out a rodent had chewed on two wires going to the control module next to the brake cylinder. It was hard to see but that was it. Fixing those two wires saved me a ton of money.
Had a similar problem with a friends car. Two shops failed to diagnose it. The customer told me she lives in a very rural area so after doing a visual inspection, I found not only a nest but several chewed wires. This is why a thorough visual inspection as your first step is so important. Glad it worked out for you and thanks for watching!
I’m having same issues 3 shops 2 dealerships. I’m exhausted. Praying that mine gets fixed soon. I pray it’s just wires
I'm hearing this alot about rodent damage. These little guys are causing us a lot of problems! Especially if you live out in a rural area! Glad it worked out for you.
I hear that some dealerships are struggling with this problem. There seems to be a lot of different things that can cause this. It's easy to fall down that rabbit hole of possible causes. I hope they can solve it for you.@@moonshinesdream
He's a guy who loves his truck. +10:53 A swift kick to the tire..
Thanks so much for the help, we didn't know what the issue was so we google the problem, this video popped up, followed your instructions and haven't had a issue since!! 👍👍
So glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
When you change the sensor or the throttle body and sensor will the car turn on or I have to take it to a dealer so they can reprogram it?
@@anonymous-gx8os It will run
Thanks a ton for this. I have an 2007 Chevy Uplander and 2 days ago we got the same error. Problem at my auto stores is that the sensor costs almost as much as the whole throttle body. So I just replaced the whole thing based on your video. Thankfully it didn't need reprogramming and worked perfect out of the box. Used Hitachi ETB. Thanks a ton.
EDF Central You're welcome. Thanks for watching!

Just experienced this on my 2017 Chevy Malibu LT.
I have the same thing on my chevron cruz 2013
I have the 2006 Impala. Same issues. Kicked the tire several times.
Pop those clips with a flat blade screw driver. Thanks for posting this. It solved my engine light issue that was making me crazy.
After months of this code flashing and my car acting up weekly I spent the $100 and fixed my car with this video, only difference is I dint remove the throttle body from the car just did it while still attached .
Thanks man good video
Thank you for watching!
Yes I experience this problem 02/17 and was far from home, what a mess and I was pissed.
SAME 5 HRS AWAY JUST GOT THIS TODAY
I been having this problem lately PCM stands for power control module, which is the computerized central processing unit (CPU) of a car's system. It's a control unit that manages the engine, transmission, and other systems based on information it receives from sensors around the vehicle. The PCM is essentially a computer that operates in binary and acts like an "if then" function. For example, if the PCM receives a certain signal from a sensor, its programming will prompt it to do something. If it doesn't receive that signal,
First thing. Check to make sure the battery cables are tite, oryour battery is good. If not theses things bet it's something else lol. I had this happen an this was my trouble hope it's as easy for you as this was for me. God bless you and yours my friend's, sorry for the smart ass remark.
Thank you I have a 2002 and 2004 Chevy Surburbans and both have done the reduce engine power messages. Both have been great vehicles with the least amount of repairs both have over 250,000 miles a piece, on them. Thank you I now have an idea where to start.
Those are the older models. Most of the time is is a loose or broken ground wire at the back of the engine.
All this shit happens after extended warranty expires!
Exactly!
In my case, after I've paid it off.
I Changed All Throttle Body And Throttle Position Sensor, And Replaced The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, And My Car Still Doing The Engine Power Reduced After A Few Minutes Of Running!!!! 2010 Chevy Impala
I recommend safety glasses when spraying the cleaner. It does not feel good if it splatters in your eye.
I learned that the hard way. It feel likes fire in your eyes.
I also get my neighbor to come over and kick the tire- saves on my sore foot😀
For my 03 Tahoe it was a loose harness on the drivers side. Had a broken plastic clip but I taped it and it works fine now.
Was your Tahoe going in to limo mode because of that ? If you don’t mind me asking.
Limp Mode *
@@alexisgonzalez8676 it was going into limp mode but I used some QD electronic cleaner on the TPS circuit and taped the harness until I bought a new one and it fixed it. But maybe that was luck because I also replaced the TPS not too long after
I normally don’t sit and watch through the films but you were great not only did you help me show me but kept my interest way to go buddy and I am a blonde that was too funny I will say that to my clients as I’m cutting their hair now thank you again

Really? Holy water? What is wrong with your brain...
What's wrong with yours?
Lol Thnk you! I have the Traverse and I’m gonna attempt to do mine myself…. Iam so tired of going to mechanics and they see me coming as a female and try all types of lying and bull and my vehicles are never fixed properly. I hadn’t looked this up they would prob charge 1,000 bucks. Ur awesome sir!
Hey did you get around to doing it yourself? If so, how did it go? I’m also a woman and I have the issue of being over charged
@@tiahodo11 Noni did not work…. The 02 sensor did not even fit into the fowlers and u drilled through 4 of them.
People clean these drive by wire tb’s and mess up the sensors by moving the flap. The correct way to clean them, is to have someone in the vehicle with the key on and press the accelerator pedal all the way down.
I have a 2007 tahoe I install a stick on the seat to the gas pedal to press it down cause I was by my self...I went to look at the throttle n it never open up...any idea why the flap never open?
OP: "Easy fix"
Also OP: *Disassembles entire engine*
Compared to other things this dumbass car needs, this is like an hour and half fix at most 😭 thank god
I wanna say Thank you ☺️ I greatly appreciate you. You saved me about five hundred plus dollars. I watch your video because this just happened to me yesterday went to a Auto shop and told him this was the problem with my car after the fact he said it was the acceleration...but he did as I had asked him from this video and we are in motion 😁
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching and stay in motion!
I pulled the battery cables off the battery turned the headlights on and connected the positive and negative cables together a few mins. Put them back on and fired right up, added coolant as well. Thanks for the video
lol hilarious video. fixed my tahoe last night. thanks man. 08 tahoe tb sensor was $60 at advance auto for those curious.
The real fix is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cut the boots off the battery cable ends and clean both sides with sand paper. Cleaning the one side is not enough the lug side is never serviceable unless boot is removed. I just used dielectric grease to cover instead of buying new cables. Also remove the primary cover and shroud around the fuse box under hood. Remove the positive lugs. Most gmc have three 1 from pos battery cable and two smaller ones powering the computer and something else. When you look at them they look good no corrosion but if you look closely it will look Grey. Sand both sides of the ring connector and the lug surface. Overtime no matter where you live air temp and moister slightly oxidize the metal. What happens is one of these powers the pcm and the others send power to vital sensors. Most of the time as long as its not a broke tps wire or if you accidentally stretch while in drivers seat and kick the pedal connection this connection oxidation does not allow the pcm to have a solid constant battery voltage so when the pcm dedicates the 5v reference to the PETAL AND TPS they are varied. Thus eventually the pcm does not allow the key on pretest yes your gmc will tell you reduced power without starting. Turn key on and wait about 10sec and if the pedal/tps agree nothing will display if not it will display reduced engine power. Also if you are having REP while driving add a new ground on drivers side of engine bay from firewall lug to one of the bolts on the bolts on the alternator bracket. Also grounds underneath drivers side frame rail, under radiator support, and the main negative lug on drivers side engine block. Also on the passenger side engine bay there is the pcm ground that comes out of the the big loom on the firewall goes out to the back of engine just like the braided one it is covered in crinkle cover but they are black wires usually two wires. Cut as low as possible bring up and solder one thicker wire estimated at double the gauge of one of the wires so you won’t have resistance problems. Remove the braided ground from firewall and remove one bolt from the third coil pack closest to the rear of engine and attach the braided ground don’t double ground this remove it because you could cause what’s called a looping ground. Electricity goes to path of least resistance. Since the braided line is very hard to remove from rear of engine block attaching the firewall end back to coil pack bolt leaves it null/void and tight so it won’t rub anything else. Also use a ground wire insulated I think it was 15in from parts store $12 for the new firewall to alternator bolt connection. I guess I could have made a video but I’m posting this on comments in various places share if you think it’s a good thing. My Rep problem is solved no tps, pedal, or throttle body replaced I researched this problem for months because I know a shop would just hose me for parts and I think most sensor issues and there lifetime are determined by there power/ground consistency. 2001gmc Yukon slt 260k miles. Good luck guys.
Desconectiun positive bateries, much eye with these, excelent job 👍

The messag can be displayed because of other reasons as well but ty for this great video of this repair! Very helpful especially to someone such as myself ! !
I currently have a 2006 Saturn ion 2 and stumble upon this problem in the beginning of May. I took it to a local Pep Boys and was charged $444.00 to replace the Gas Pedal Sensor. They were confident that was the issue. The beginning of August, issue comes back. They said "oh well its actually your gas pedal itself". They charged me $307. Less than 2 days, maybe 30 minutes of actual drivings worth, issue again. "Well the only thing we could possibly change is the "Throttle Control Motor" and charged $214. Would have been $600ish but they applied what they already charged me for the pedal making the third part cheaper. the car couldn't even last a day and still SAME ISSUE. They said "it must be your computer, you are gonna have to take it to a dealership". I'm about to go in there and demand a refund. This is ridiculous. Called their unreliable customer support, prior, they didn't help. I pretty much got conned $1,000 for them to not fix the issue or expertly know what the issue may be
Ions are known for having problems when throttle bodies get dirty. I recommend cleaning it if you haven't already done so. It's a good starting point. Also check for dirty connections at the TBS connector and broken wires on the harness. Look for bad insulation on the wires. Check for broken wires by doing the " tug test". (Pull on the wires one at a time and see if the insulation breaks or stretches). This would indicate broken wires inside the insulation. Good luck!
The problem is with this issue it could be caused by so many different things and unless you have an amazing mechanic which I haven't met since I left Michigan three years ago, you're screwed. I have an 09 Yukon and that was the cause of my issue after I threw a bunch of parts at it including about a body
Got lucky with mine. I just cleaned my throttle body still attached.
Great video, great step by step instructions. Good job!!!
Muchas gracias. Muy bien explicado.
So glad I didn't get a Ferd... Those codes cost a grip to fix.. GMC Yukon XL easy code fixes.

Gotta love this man’s humor 😂😂
Try this if car shows that message and shuts down on the side of the road: with the key in the on position (car not running) disconnect both battery terminals and while disconnected touch the terminals together (not to the battery) a couple times. After a minute o two reconnect the battery and restart the car, hopefully that resets the sensors and computer and drive home safely
I had the same problem brought it to the dealer first they said it was my battery terminals 3 days later came back on an come to find out it my gas pedal an the connection to the pedal they replaced the whole pedal for free an haven't had a problem sense an it's been a year or so now.
How much did they charge you for the whole procedure.

A pair of needle nose pliers makes as good a screwdriver as a screwdriver makes a pair of needle nose pliers. Both highly useful tools, but hardly interchangeable. The removal of the spring clips was downright painful to watch. When do you plan on installing the new gasket?
Haha great video man, I'm having this problem in my chevy silverado right now
Silverado... I worked on a few of those. Sometimes the cooling fans malfunction and draw too much current. They're on the same circuit as the throttle body sensor. The fans will pull the reference signal for the TPS down too low and trigger the reduced engine power. Check your cooling fans if replacing the TPS doesn't work. Let me know.
This is a common electrical gremlin which most of the time is related to faulty wiring and or most number 1 corporate a ground issue within the component
Hm wonder if it’s with my tpms some say that’s cause also bc I changed the throttle sensor and pedal sensor still didn’t fix it

Good helpful information. Thanks!....... Suggestion: Get either a magnetic camera mount or a tripod for your video camera. Trying to hold the camera with one hand while unbolting an engine assembly with the other hand creates a poor quality video that is difficult to watch.
