I could get around asking for directions and speak in basic conversations but when it comes to truly speaking my mind or carrying an intellectual conversation I’m not at that level yet. I like using books, I can recommend the ones I’m using if anyone wants. And they helped me get somewhere especially when I was first starting but most of all you need to hear Russian people talk, wether through movies, shows, videos or music and I find as a very audio focused language learner that’s really helped me though my accent is still horrible 💀

Great to see this up to date info just prior to Camp. I’ve created a little exercise that’s helping with elusive case endings after many many hours, days, weeks, months - studying. I have stream-lined endings to single examples of each variation in declension and write them out at least once per week. In fact it’s only very few I don’t now know without checking (primarily instrumental)). This, in turn, helps my reading comprehension. Your point about not worrying about grammar until you have enough vocabulary for it to matter leads me to an analogy. Vocabulary is the bricks, grammar is the mortar to put those bricks together. It would be ridiculous to mix up a large batch of mortar and then decide to go the building supply store to buy some bricks. You only need to mix enough mortar to work with the bricks you have on hand. Thank you

Actually makes sense. As a child in most all languages you learn word associated concepts. English highlighted grammar to effect not just listening, speaking, but the reading, and writing also. Why English gets confusing for even English speaking. So things like mom, dad, friend, enemy, road, basically common things among language. Vocabulary isn't taking a backseat in English, on the contrary there's no English speaking that speak the same kinds, others aren't really compatible with modern times, depending on the region.

Devoting 70% of ones time and focus to learning vocabulary cannot involve devoting 5% to listening and speaking because those skills are fundamental to memorizing all words.
@@UpleenSandhu It’s not an excuse, it’s the grammar rules, number on consonants, genders etc are very similar between Russian and Hindi. I have been learning for 10 months now.

I've just started learning Russian and I accidentally stumbled upon a random video of an advanced learner venting about the grammar complexity and the gates of hell opened before me, showing the nightmares awaiting for me if I decide to continue my studies. Moral of the story: 1- Don't study the grammar if you are still learning the alphabet and the vocabulary. 2- youtube is a dangerous place, you might stumble across the grammar by accident. Be cautious.

I started learning russian in school grade five but now I'm in seventh grade but I only know how to read and I only understand a little bit of the text, But only in my school book.
I wonder if the emphasis on vocabulary correlates to native Russians when they speak English and seemingly leave out connect words. For example I went to the store Vs I went store.
Thank you very much Fedor, you have just gven me the right way to learn Russian. I have just completed a Udemy course in Russian and I completely went about it the wrong way. I have spent more than one year on it and I got stuck in grammar. I actually know very little. I speak Afrikaans, my mother tongue, and English fluently. I also took German and Latin. By the way, I wont recommend the course I've just done. It is poorly constructed and without goals. The person who compiled it as very good at Russian but has definitely not received any training as a pedagodue. I literally wasted months trying to find out what I actually had to learn.
Over the summer I started Russian Duolingo because at my school their was a whole section for Russians but then I return this year and the Russians are gone I saw their map today and It made me miss them so much..

Learning Russian from Hindi is way easier than from English
So þeoretically, I could use my Punjabi to help wiþ Russian and vice versa? WELP MORE EXCUSES DUCK YEAH
@@UpleenSandhu It’s not an excuse, it’s the grammar rules, number on consonants, genders etc are very similar between Russian and Hindi. I have been learning for 10 months now.
Can you make a video about the different forms of writing the letters? I study old Soviet films and I simply can't understand some iterations of letters.
don't waste your time, it's useless особенно на первых порах, когда лучше уделить внимание грамматике.
@@once.upon.atime.in.belgie yeah, I'm complaining about that when I can't even get the cases right yet lol
@@Braziliansyrah you can write printed letters it will be okay. the most writting letters came from old Russian
Hi, I need an advice , I’m fluent in English, but I’m a Spanish speaker natively.
Should I set my mind in learning Russian in Spanish or English?
well after watching this i need to ask you something that i have a lot of problem learning it, because i do search on google and yet i don't find it understandable...
the difference in и, й, ы and ий
and...
what is soft and hard signs, how to pronounce them or use them and etc...
-и like in queen, -й like in yogurt, -ы sounds hart, -ий -combination the first two at once
you all learn russian to be "immersed in the culture" i learn it to swear at other russians in tf2
I've just started learning Russian and I accidentally stumbled upon a random video of an advanced learner venting about the grammar complexity and the gates of hell opened before me, showing the nightmares awaiting for me if I decide to continue my studies.
Moral of the story:
1- Don't study the grammar if you are still learning the alphabet and the vocabulary.
2- youtube is a dangerous place, you might stumble across the grammar by accident. Be cautious.
i would say begin from grammar- it is the stone you will built you russian house upon
Я начал учить русский в етом году
Я начал учить русский в этом году
Hello 🙋 from Spain. Trying tobget some Russian inEnglish from muy Spanish native language. ... Am I the only one who senses He is all the time *on the verge of laughing loud ?? 😅😅

Thank you, what about reading? I think it’s important but you didn’t mention anything about it.
If your vocabulary is weak how would you be able to read? And that's not even factoring the grammar rules.
What he's suggesting is the initial hour. You'll know when you need to read which clearly isn't in the initial hour for sure.
да, чтение будет полезно, чтобы закреплять грамматические правила, вы читаете и видите, как работает грамматик на практике.
I started learning russian in school grade five but now I'm in seventh grade but I only know how to read and I only understand a little bit of the text, But only in my school book.
это уже хорошо, русский язык не из легких, но и он освоится, всему свое время
I wonder if the emphasis on vocabulary correlates to native Russians when they speak English and seemingly leave out connect words. For example
I went to the store
Vs
I went store.
I literally wasted months trying to find out what I actually had to learn.
listen to his advices and do everything the opposite way - that's the best advice
I love Russia from Egypt 💖🍉
Over the summer I started Russian Duolingo because at my school their was a whole section for Russians but then I return this year and the Russians are gone I saw their map today and It made me miss them so much..

That’s wonderful your a great a kid
Do you think writing cursiv is necessary? I know how to, but I do better without. Especally learning vocab is easier for me if I use block writing. I do hard getting all these words in my head anyway. 😢
But my "teacher"* makes me write cursiv always, as well as any textbook.
*just some lessons, once a week for 3 month by a native. Mostly I study on my own.
I’m a Russian native, and I think it’s not so necessary for u. U’d better focus on smth else.
нет, вы теряете время, сконцентрируйтесь на грамматике
My entire family either speaks Russian and English or ONLY Russian…and I never picked it up 😭
Im learning russian so i can communicate with my russian friend in russian
After 3 months i can confidently say i dont know anything except for the names of the chess pieces and "Пять."
Thank god she speaks English
I knew it!! Just HOW intensive... how much must i invest in the course minimum since i have a full time job
You'd need around 45 minutes every day to keep up!
