Helpful video! I'm still thinking over the big move or not to move question, LOL! I am glad you included the "know why you want to move to AK" and "what are you willing to sacrifice" questions. They are important to help clarify if AK is a vacation destination or a move to destination. Also, if moving is the decision and weight management is part of your life, have a plan for addressing that in the winter, i.e. gym membership, outdoor activities, etc. Finally, if medical conditions that require specialists are part of your life, or your families (and I include pets here), make sure the medical (veterinary) resources are available. Treatment for some conditions MAY require traveling to Anchorage or Seattle. As one of the guests on a podcast said, living in Alaska is not easy. But I suppose if you think things through, weigh and balance things, and prepare yourself for it, it may be worth it!

Im here now and I cant handle it but we need to play it smart and have the wealth to move without a job. I am learning that real estate is inflated all over the nation not just Anchorage/Alaska. Im sitting here with a space heater on in middle of May

One of the things I’ve noticed after being here over 40 years is many people move here and then find that being far from family is hard and they move back to where they came from or they get a divorce. My wife goes outside a few months a year to visit family. Also many people that I worked with over the years didn’t retire here. We have a recreational cabin off-road in a rural subdivision with dozens of cabins that is spread out over about 6 miles on a trail. There is only one family that lives full time there.
