Why Alaska is a Dream for Families | Our Adventure
In this snippet of our discussion with Kaden, we talk about his family’s positive experience moving to Alaska, focusing on the children’s adaptation, outdoor activities, and schooling. The parents highlight the abundance of camping and hiking opportunities, the children’s enthusiastic embrace of the Alaskan lifestyle, and their positive experience with the local schools. The conversation also touches on the differences between living in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley, emphasizing the trade-offs between convenience and quality of life.
Full discussion: ua-cam.com/video/FMu78nss1Vs/v-deo.html
Highlights
🏕️ Abundant Outdoor Recreation: The family enjoys extensive camping and hiking throughout Alaska, with numerous easily accessible locations. The children are especially enthusiastic about these activities.
🎒 Positive School Experience: The family had a positive experience with Homestead School in Eagle River, noting its safety and proximity to their home. They also explored dual-immersion language programs.
😍 Children’s Love for Alaska: The children quickly adapted to life in Alaska and express immense enjoyment of the natural environment, consistently preferring it to other locations they’ve visited.
🏞️ Easy Access to Nature: The sheer number of camping and hiking spots makes it easy for the family to engage in outdoor activities, almost accidentally stumbling upon new locations.
⚖️ Quality of Life Choices: The discussion highlights the differing perspectives on quality of life between those choosing to live in Anchorage (for convenience) and those in the Mat-Su Valley (for outdoor access).

Eagle River Alaska's Real Estate Market Update - 01-01-2025
Переглядів 36914 годин тому
This is a real estate market update for Eagle River, Alaska, as of December 4th, 2024, covering single-family homes, condos, and multi-family properties. I analyze inventory levels, sales figures, and average sale prices, concluding that while prices are increasing, the increases are not as dramatic as might be expected given low inventory. I believe this is because sellers are holding onto pro...

The main points focus on better job prospects and higher wages in Anchorage, reduced commute times, more cultural activities and shopping options, less wind, more established parks, and better access to schools and the Kenai Peninsula. While acknowledging ...

Top 5 reasons NOT to move to Wasilla, Alaska! #movingtoalaska #alaska
I don't mean to go off topic but you have the most beautiful eyes🎉🎉🎉🎉
I hate the development in Wasilla in some areas, there are some really nice areas in Wasilla, but there are also some ugly and weirdly laid-out areas. Additionally, I used to be able to walk around my neighborhood but now there's a crazy group of druggies that live right next door and they like to blow stuff up and have also made the once nice house and property next-door a junkyard! So, I don't really feel safe walking around anymore... When I was younger it seemed a lot better... There are so many new buildings being built and I dislike it. Wasilla is feeling less and less like a small town and more urban and crowded. More recently there have been loads of people moving here from Anchorage and other places and people aren't so friendly anymore. They're always so unhappy and impatient. The drivers are ridiculous too. From what I've seen myself and when compared to Fairbanks, the people in Wasilla are much less friendly & patient in general. People in Wasilla used to be so much more friendly, polite, and patient!
Heh, Born and raised in Wasilla, Alaska! The wind is definitely something here. Ripped the side off the KFC building. Also 5:00 PM traffic is especially awful on the parks hwy in Wasilla! And KGB of course too.
Offgrid
Is the flood factor rating on Redfin reliable?
@@brandonpacheywiredforlife I would rely only on the official websites. Redfin may or may not be accurate.
Moving to JBeR in a Month, I might have to look at on base housing . I would love some tips and meet new friends for sure.
@@GrantsvilleAirbnb Sure man. Register on the website and I’ll give you a call.
Good tips! Re. marshes you can often tell by looking for that classic bog-loving black spruce. Another point re. trees is if you get one with white spruce or birch you'll have a source of excellent firewood right there. If you buy a bunch of cottonwood... not so much. BTW anyone want some cottonwood??
The imminent domain is not something I would have considered if getting a property in Wasilla. Good tip!
@@Huspree2011 My pleasure
It's a very expensive ride!
We are heading up that way very soon to visit the area, in the cold, to see how we like it. It would be a major switch from Texas but we are hoping it fits us nicely. Are there aspects that you would recommend we check out during 2 days in Anchorage and 4 days in Wasilla/Willow area?
Love the new format! We are now full in the Valley, sorry, lol.
That's what I wanted to hear! :)
Nothing wrong with the Valley either, I have real estate in both areas :)
@@alaska_realtor haha, glad I could help. I like this guy, good perspectives!
@alaska_realtor oh I know!
Awesome 👍
Do you like this new video podcast format?
Not sure my comment will be helpful, but I get a lot of my entertainment from traditional audio podcast platforms and video platforms such as UA-cam. In your specific case, I’ve found myself subscribing on Spotify and UA-cam, then frequently check both platforms for new content. In short, it doesn’t really matter to me. If you’re in the process of deciding between the two, I think your decision point needs to be which platform gives you the greatest (or potentially the greatest) reach, and from a monetization standpoint, which platform nets (or potentially nets) the greatest income. Either way I think you’ll have your subscribers. Congratulations on your engagement! God bless!
Anchorage government is corrupt!!?? It's not like comparing road maintenance and the road maintenance budget could tell you that..
I don’t think people talk about south Anchorage enough. I love being able to walk to bike to a brewery, the store, to a park, all in the same day. It’s awesome, highly recommend
Love it! 🙌🏻 well done video, thanks for having me!
Thank you for sharing your story!
Did your brother win his election?
I love eagle river
Great show guys thanks 🙏🏽 And Mold can appear anywhere Jamin it’s deadly!
I lived in FL for almost 30 years. Alaska is better in almost every way
Thank you guys I loved this one and have looked into Homer. I have questions about Organic produce 😂is it safe to say there are no organic grocery stores here? ❤️🙏🏽
How is the internet?
@@TheHotSauceReviewChannel Compared to what you get in most metro areas in lower-48, slow. But, I get everything I need it for and I upload a ton of videos, etc.
@ ah I see. I need fast internet for my remote job.
The area of the Matsu valley I live in, Meadow Lakes, is less windy than Wasilla, Palmer, and Anchorage.
Thanks for the video
❤❤❤❤❤
I hope you're coping well continuing on without his physically presents here on earth. It's been more than 10 years since both my younger brother and mother passed away. I still find myself thinking about them almost everyday. I am sorry for your loss. What an incredibly selfless man.
@@codyferguson7120 Thank you. We go to trial in a few months so it’ll all come roaring back here soon.
Ugh, I'm offended. 😂😂😂😂😊
New video idea, if you are looking for property with a great view where is the best value? Top 5 maybe
It's in the cue. Thank you!
Location, location, location. There's no shortage of crazy neighbors-from-hell in the Mat-Su. We even had one across the street in Eagle River. And there are some really nice places in Los Anchorage.
I agree with all of these things, however, anytime I have to drive to Anchorage I can’t wait to get out of there and back home to the valley lol
Off Grid Do a video series of OFF GRID
How much moeny do i need to bring to have six months of bills covered
Great commentary!
I like these trends!
I was born in Valdez and moved to Wasilla and I don’t think there’s much traffic
Turn your volume up
How far is Willow from Wasilla?
@@billwilliams1842 about an hour
Idk how the bigger cities are swinging left when Trump won the votes. Crazy
Great video, Eagle River is the sweet spot in between imo
Yes, but Palmer os better than both! :)
It seems like a lot of the properties are in the forest? Are there properties with nice views in Wasilla?
@@caryyoung4710 there are but Wasilla has a lot more lake properties and a bit further from the mountains than Palmer. So, you still see them, but they aren’t as close and there are more trees.
They are here, but usually quite expensive.
Hello, what type of visa do I need to work in Alaska
The internet ruins all nice places to live in due time...
A commute with no traffic🥰🥰🥰
Jamin is the best!! Wasilla has the best people, thrift stores, garage sales and space. Best move we've made! Thank you, Jamin!
Thank you!
The commute in the winter is no joke. Eagle River is best.
I’ve been in the Anchorage area for about 3 months after moving from Alabama to here for a job. The commute from the Valley seems better than the commute from Decatur, AL to Huntsville, Alabama. I’m looking at real estate in the Valley and like the slower pace and the more rural setting. I’ll trade the commute for going home to a nice size acre over constant foot traffic at all hours day and night in Anchorage. I’ve heard several call Anchorage Los Anchorage in the short time here. It’s going to come down to each person’s personal preference.
@@susanwright3724 Well said
I make that commute seven days a week. A few things you need to consider first. If the weather is bad or there is a wreck then that commute turns into a nightmare. There is only one way in and one way out. Also, I feel that I’m the only person who works in Wasilla. All the stores are almost always crowded. Lastly, traffic is worse in Wasilla than Anchorage. This may surprise you. Before you move to the valley, try driving around and going grocery shopping between 4-6pm.
don't let democrats... do ANYTHING in Alaska. Keep'm out.
Commuting during winter is too stressful. White knuckle all the way.
There’s a bus system called Valley Transit that goes from the Trunk Road area to downtown 6 days a week. I learned about this from some of my coworkers. That’s the option I was looking at taking if I moved to Wasilla. The bus is like a large charter bus that looks very nice. There’s info out there on the web if that’s something that would help you during the winter.
I did the valley to Anchorage commute for 2 years and it killed my mental health. Moved to Eagle River and could never go back.
@@UndertakerFromWWE I hear you. I did it six months and was almost in like three motor vehicle accidents...one involving a moose who someone hit and I was trying to get some guys with a truck to pull off the highway before the next herd of vehicles had a pile up. Phew!
