- GT and The J-Town Press went hot in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham City Hall. No problems getting through security and met some awesome employees as well as some not so professional ones.
We want to see where your tax dollars are going and if the city is spending wisely. We signed up to address the city council, however, couldn’t stay for the entire meeting.
It appeared that we were both assigned babysitters after staff freaked out about press recording in public areas. Staff members disagreed that press was allowed to document the building, ask questions, and see where your tax dollars are going. Officer Hall with the Birmingham Police Department was cool. Does all press get a private police escort around city hall?
Meagan, a public official that likes to play on her phone and make art while on the clock of the taxpayer. As Megan continued to play on her phone, another employee Linda Fortenberry was buried with her duties.
Another staff member asked us to cut off our cameras so that we can talk.

The only problem public employees have with cameras is that they actually have to work when a camera is around.

It's well past due - We must demand action against this behavior. We must demand that cops, judges, elected officials, government employees, agents, and contractors be held accountable! Abolish the doctrine of qualified immunity. Establish laws requiring insurance companies to set higher standards for government officials to retain insurability, demand transparency policies are in place and limit police unions' involvement in issues concerning people's civil rights and liberties. Keep up the great work.

Thank You for exposing the government employees who do nothing productive to earn out tax dollars. Perhaps the city could sell her art work to make a profit for the city? The cops could also be rented out for families that need babysitters. It is the city's belief that everyone is a criminal, trust no one, therefore must be escorted when on government property. Cameras could cause great harm to reputations.

Russ, I can understand, but not excuse, government office worker not knowing; I can, in no way, excuse law enforcement from not knowing rights or their own policies. It's crazy the way some people act when they think their position makes them special.
I would like to mention something else that I’ve noticed, the people that give you the most problem are of a certain certain demographic.

Just a suggestion, you’re not a baby, so you shouldn’t have a babysitter. What they are actually doing is “shadowing” you so I would refer to them as your “shadow” instead of babysitter. Just my opinion though. 😊
