No kidding, after I kinda fucked up my builds in my first game in PK, I literally spent almost an entire weekend in the character creator as well as internet guides & wikis reading about all the mechanics and classes, considering all the options and trying to understand what builds will satisfy me both performance- and roleplay-wise. And taking into account that WotR has more than twice as many classes as PK... yeah, 80 hours it would have certainly been if that was my first game instead of PK.
Between beating D:OS2 and waiting for BG3, I've been aching for a quality, substantial RPG experience to really sink my teeth into, and it looks like this is it. Great video as always!
@@Schizm1 PF:KM was better than DOS2 in all aspects except gameplay IMO, and gameplay is a pretty huge aspect of games. DOS2 had simpler builds and more tactical fights than PF:KM, which I enjoyed more though I know a lot of people disagree. That being said PF:KM was still amazing and the last 24 hrs before WoTR are painful.
Imagine if Owlcat and Laurian Studios had a lovechild, combining the best each Dev has to offer into one of the most in depth and immersive D&D games ever made... oh the possibilities.
Pathfinder has way more memorable characters and way better characters development. I enjoyed Divinity's characters, but they were lackluster compared to Pathfinder's cast. Of course, Divinity's cast and how they interact with your main character (assuming you made your own) definitely has a different flow.
@@Vahn421 The thing is that about the gameplay in combat it's much more developped in DOS-2 . The spells, effects, interactions with the world and skill-combination. So yeah, I would like to see a good fusion between those.
A couple years ago, you could've shown me this type of game and i would not even spend 2 seconds paying attention to it, but after entering the Isometric RPG Realm through Larian Studios and their acclaimed Divinity 2 Original Sin game, it's like i found Nirvana and suddenly the genre unveils itself like, like Pokémon as a 6 year old kid. I'm defenitively playing this one out while waiting for Baldur's Gate 3 full release. Who knows, maybe i'll still be hooked on this one around its release date. Bravissimo video
I have played DOSII for almost 500 hours. Imo it's a masterpiece. This game has my attention for sure. Is it very similar compared to DOSII? I'm really struggling if I should buy it or not.
@@Krikns I loved dos 2 have like 500 hrs but I now strongly prefer the pathfinder games, though theyre super different. Dos games are like baby's first roleplaying game in comparison. Thats saying something considering what normally passes as an rpg
I just got into gaming last winter and Kingmaker Pathfinder was my first CRPG. I've gone on to complete DOS2 and am well into the first Witcher Game. SO STOKED for this - Kingmaker had problems (cough, kingdom management, cough) but I loved it so much and it got me hooked on the genre. Thanks for this review!

I'm about 50 hours into the game. As soon as we obtain the "permanent homebase", the scope of the game gets ridiculously overwhelming. There's too much things to do and keep track of. I'm very tempted to just set the crusade thingies to automatic because that army battle mode is boring as hell. Other than that it's been a blast! Definitely one of the best RPG I've played in recent years.
It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. I'm assuming the devs were big fans of Heroes of Might and Magic which was very popular in the late 90's and early 2000's, because a few aspects of the combat are literally direct rip offs of how that game plays. This is a good thing if you know the genre. I've always been a huge fan so I slipped right in and found little to no issue absolutely trashing enemies without any prior understanding of the game. But that also revealed to me anyone WHO HAS NEVER PLAYED Heroes of Might and Magic back in the day is going to be at a complete loss. So it's very much a double edged sword and I'm glad they put the auto combat in. As a Heroes of Might and Magic veteran, I can easily say Crusader mode is heavily biased toward certain cheesy strategies and once exploited, makes the entire thing way too easy. It's a shame most players engaged in crusader mode are going to either be frustrated out of their mind, or are going to know the genre well enough to exploit its flaws and wreck everything too easily.
Glad to hear it doesn't have as many bugs at launch as Kingmaker had, I've played a little bit of the beta and was immediately in love with this game, can't wait until tomorrow :D
My most anticipated game this year..THANK you for the review Fextralife! I cannot wait to completely dive and lose weeks of my life in this game with my Cavalier build.
I would advise people to stay away from it. Loads of game breaking bugs still present. Plenty of Quests are barred because of an event that won't trigger. The Crusader gameplay literally locks up. Hell, respecing your character breaks the game. The current patch mentions that these have been fixed but they're still there. Even if you redo the game from scratch. People are going to be spending $50 for what is essentially a game that's still in Early Access.
people are literally paying full price for Early Access games...right now. BG3, Black Geyser, and that's just to name a few out of the hundreds. and a lot of them stay in EA for years.
I have only recently started playing Kingmaker and I'm loving it, so by the time I'm done with it, I'm hoping Wrath of the Righteous has been released on consoles and maybe even have some DLC. I hope you guys will produce a lot of builds for this game!
Can't wait for this. Going into my short week at work and will have 4 days in a row with this beast. Thinking Slayer for first class. Not sure on Mythic Path yet.
I have certainly been enjoying it, enough to buy the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. I'm still very early in the game - haven't even attacked the Gray Garrison yet - but I'm already at level 5, and at this point, I'm pretty much hooked. Seeing Owlcat continue to support the game with more patches and DLC is just great, and my only regret is not playing it sooner.
This game is looking fantastic a real crpg with a heroes of might and magic 3 mini game inside, cant wait ..... And thank god no multiplayer , single player crpgs are the best game experience, you do everything in your own time , you can explore and learn the lore , perfection !!!
dunno, i loved the multiplayer in Divinity Original Sin 2, it's a way to play with different choices than you'd usually make, seeing parts of the game in different ways. I played through the game twice on my own and 4 times multiplayer with a couple different people. It does add a lot of change which is really fun, to me atleast.
They need build planner really bad. I know this games' main audience is people familiar with Pathfinder, but I really wish they made it more accessible. Doesn't matter if they dump everything in game, it's still hard to learn and understand the long term implication of builds. It really daunting for someone new to the system when there's a bunch of classes, then a bunch of class specializations, then a bunch of mutually/semi exclusive decision ever few levels that can dramatically impact how to play your character.
Unpolished and priced as if it's a triple A game. Doesn't include all of it's content immediately. You have two DLCs that are not a part of the initial release and have their own separate cost. Buy for the price of one cake half a cake. And the settings menu is only 80% functional at best.
@@WhatDuhDogDoin Yet, I never claimed that the game is bad. Got ya. Anyhow, when hovering over teammate portraits, there's no name... at the least. When RMB clicking on the portraits, nothing. No menu anymore. When hovering over anything that holds loot, it is labeled as "loot". Pretty damn lazy. Things should be labeled what they are, like: Corpse, crate, pot, remains, bookcase, shelf, etc... Also, on almost every goddamn item there is text about how this item might be of interest to a merchant. Money icon doesn't look like money, but it looks like literal "bullseye". And all the items have their cost shown without an option to switch it off. The game throws tutorials at me occasionally even though I disabled the whole options list for various tutorials. All of them. In character creation, even though I've selected a male character... in some class descriptions, there is put "she" instead of "he". There is only one dwarven voice. There's literally just 1 voice for each race at best... if non at all for some. Pathetic. Nwn 20 years ago had more of those. Handful of portraits for each race and they're all mashed together with other gender portraits. 20 year old games had more, way more. Non working keybinds, some keys cannot be rebound even though they're removed from everywhere, like "space". When rebinding keys, the game doesn't let you do that if a key is already bound to some action. No, you have to unbind a desired key first and then you can use it somewhere else. Same thing for space didnt work. Unbound it from every action it was bound to and it still says that the key is bound to some invisible action. Also when having dialogs, it's not a choice, it's a literal list of dialog options you can go through for some game completionist purposes. When you do have a choice between bad and good decision, you have just those... two options and nothing in between when determeing some outcome. It's like i'm dumb n able to think only black and white, good or bad. Team mates decide sht on their own, doesn't matter if it's you or anyone else making the decision. Often times when you decide on something, be it good or bad, while having team mates in your party visually close to you, hearing your conversation.... they don't react and pretty often too. The paladin class I'm playing is lawful good, but the conversations have only two options... either lawful or something bad. My character has no chance in being reasonable. There are no options for that. All of this is said only playing for literally couple of hours. All of this is said minding the fact that this game is smaller in size than kingmaker and is way more costly. 50 euro instead of 20.... and a part of the content that should've been released is cut out and sold as dlc on day 1 at launch. Getting for the price of one whole cake, only a part of one cake. P.s. The dragon dying in the beginning was lame and heavily stupid as it can possibly be. Might've just fallen on her knees before me, I would've decapitated her on the spot myself if she so desires. Imagine being able to behead a dragon in the first few minutes of the game. I would love to kill a dumbass dragon such as this one, that seems suicidal. Also... imagine not avoiding a strike... imagine transforming right infront of the enemy and immediately falling under his strike. Crazy, right?

@@chillhour6155 It’s not too bad. Every time I check in on Star Citizen’s progress, it keeps getting better and better. And their revenue doesn’t seem to be hurting either. I don’t care how long it takes them to finish, but I also don’t want to play it until it’s finished.
Man, I still have PTSD from the console version of King's Maker. That game was buggy as hell, and I had to restart about 3-4 times before I gave up on it. That said when it did work I thought it was one of the best CRPGs I've played in years. Not sure when I'll try to give WotR a try, but it's good to know that the game doesn't seem as buggy (so far).
I’ve had a LOT of issues with mounted combat and some weird shenanigans with charge and movement in general in turn based mode but other than that there hasn’t been anything too crazy
Played the game through multiple times since release. It still surprises me just how different each run feels, because the mythic paths genuinely feel completely different. That said, to claim this game did not suffer from game breaking bugs is outrageous. Hopefully it's all fixed now, after a year, but on release? This game was literally bugged to all hell. I encountered countless game breaking bugs, one of which quite literally set me back 60 hours of progress, which only didn't result in a total restart because I had kept a save from before the trigger for the bug. Which turned out to be using the respec option before you gained your mythic path choice at M3. Aside from that, I had multiple bugs where essential campaign map battles either wouldn't load, or recruits stopped appearing entirely, meaning they were impossible to beat. Other bugs included immortal enemies in the main game and on a couple of other instances, major NPC's required for 'main' quest missions failing to spawn. So no, this game was far from without bugs, it was one of the worst games I'd played that year for bugs. And it wasn't just me, it happened to every friend I know who played it as well, all with a completely different array of bugs. That said, the game itself and the story was so good that I persevered through that (all those bugs were on a single play through...), even after losing 60 hours of play time and wound up completing 3 play throughs back to back... So highly bugged, but still highly recommended.
D:OS2 is still my king of this genre. I played it so much i did entire run on Honour mode.The story, companion story and that last fight with Lucian, just...dear god still hits me that ambient and music!
Hurry up with your character class guides will ya? I need to know how to build an enhancement shaman from WoW and you always have the best guides for theme characters.
I would recommand playing using a pre build character during act 1. I always use act1 for crpg as a test bench for character creation. In DOS2 i literally spent weeks playing act 1 over and over again haha to prefect my character creation that suite my play style
@@Valentyn90A Act 1 is the best act for sure, but the rest of the game is as good. The game does start to drag on around halfway through the story, but it's still the best rpg I've ever played.
Please don't compare this game to Divinity original sin. that's not even a D&D game and nothing compared to this massive colossal of RPG goodness!!! pre build character are there for newbies who are foolish enough to dare to play this game. veterans always create their characters from scratch to suit their playstyle. Making mistakes is this game is just normal as it is in real life.
Great review! I was on the fence, and likely would have passed trying this. This was a game I wanted to like, but figured the combat systems would be too light and the dialogue too laborious for me to get into. I usually love dungeon crawlers and many RPG archetypes; but I don't usually enjoy heavily story-driven games that revolve around dialogue to this extent. However, your highlights into character customization and progression; deep companion progression; and broad elements like combat, the game world, and side content really did change my mind. I will be trying this. Reviews don't often change my initial reaction when I see a new game. But in this case, your fair and thorough review really did change my mind. Thank you.
I love this game , I care about the characters I love the story and it takes me back to the days when I played dragon age origins as a kid , its a solid 10 for me , you gonna want to replay in case you miss something
I love this game so much! I'm still in Kenabres right now. So far I've tried Wizard, Magus, Monk, and Paladin. Every class has compelling skills and interesting mechanics which is making it ever so hard to decide who will advance the story first...
I played the beta. It's an absolutely AWESOME game! So many good things happening - combat, choices, characters, replayability! I can't wait for the full version. ♥♥♥
One of the most important points, especially with the predecessor, is the technical condition. How many bugs are there? In other tests, there is talk of gamebracking bugs.
As a 3rd party publisher offering powerful tools for Pathfinder RPG players, I am happy to see that the 1st edition is still going strong...!! Well done Owlcat Games! As a side note, it would be possible to mirror your Wrath of the Righteous character onto the powerful TOS+ tool for continued play at the gaming table :)
Game is great. Being able to swap between turn based and active combat makes some trash fights less painful. Some of the early fights are quite unforgiving, but once you get your feet under you, it’s a real blast. Not a huge fan of the army battles though once you get on the main map. Wish I could just ignore all that. My only gripe.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 could have been a $90 game, still been a 10 out of 10. That game is massive, superbly designed, and the replayability of it is through the absolute roof.
@@williameldridge9382 Okay....and this game is, as well. WotR's class system alone is absurdly robust. Add in the massive story, locations, and Mythic Paths, and this game is at least as replayable.
@@DJ-yo9oi The bugs completley destroy the chances of this game getting a 10/10. Because of Owlcats budget as well as the scope of the game it's almost impossible to make everything smooth. DOS2 is simply more polished then Wotr. Also there's too many tedious things in this game that waste time, mainly the Map. I give the game a 9/10. The game is defninitly not a 7(average) but it's to buggy to give it a 10.
I suppprted the Kickstarter at stand tier to get kingmaker only just started playing and it's so fun can't wait to finish up my campaign and get started on this one. They did a great job
Here we go again spending 24 hours, on just character creation and experimenting with possible builds, takes me back to my BG1&2 days. These games are the bane of min/maxers, it is possible to days or even weeks before you are satisfied with your your own characrer build a d actually play the damn game.

If it anything like the tabletop version all you have to do is make a max Charisma Paladin and go on demon genocide (aside from the friendly demons). And a Wizard for transport. The story actively encourages silly superhero min-maxing so don't worry. Be a paladin or a 9th level caster, start with a 20 in the best stat, go berzerk.
Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous is the BEST cRPG the last 20+ years. The last games this good were Planescape:Torment, Arcanum and Vampire:Bloodlines. Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous > Baldurs Gate 3

Unfortunately I hear bg3 won't come out of early access until late 2022 or even 2023 which isn't surprising considering its been almost a year in early access there's still no act 2 :( means you're not torn between both games tho if you have the time!
@@JonGowa The problem is that I haven't finished Pathfinder Kingmaker, nor Pillars of Eternity 2 yet and I probably won't finished them this year. Unfortunetly time passes by so quickly.
Looks like they learned a lot from the first game which was let down by bad balancing and too many bugs. But it had potential. Now that they've learned, I think it might become a really great game!
Playing through Kingmaker now, I haven't encountered any bugs that affect gameplay or questlines. The worst thing that happens is occasionally a turn in combat will hang when there are too many summons, but it's fixed immediately by toggling turns off and back on again. I feel like they must have learned a lot.
What does one have to do to get replayability of 10 with you guys? Personally I don't care about scores but I'm genuinely wondering what it takes if a pathfinder game with mythic paths and everything can't hit it.
I do get what you mean and I actually agree with you, this game should totally be a 10 in both this score and maybe others. To play devil’s advocate though, maybe they are thinking of arpg levels of replay-ability like Diablo and Path of Exile as examples of a 10.
@@kylerobinson6102 wotr is more replayable than demon souls imo. The combat is what keeps people playing demon souls, but the story is the same everytime. You get multiple different questlines and companions if you replay wotr, so to me it's one of the most replayable games ive ever seen outside of competitive ones like LoL or whatnot.
@@DaCheat100 I think replayability is subjective. For example, I enjoy Diablo, but I never spend much time on the post-game loot grind. People say that Sekiro is not replayable, yet I am half-way through my third playthrough.
@TheIneptDrifter so true. I picked it up on Xbox. And I loved the game but despite hearing the pc version had been fixed the console port was awful. Terrible file corruption issues, poor frame rate, and awful load times. If owl cat has another company handle the port again then it will likely be bad again
@@ttuarmyjag84 I’m on base PS4 and while I loved the game the technical issues and terrible frame rate was difficult to ignore! I did not get crashes but I only played a few hours so it would probably get worse. Pillars of eternity 2 is just as bad on PS4 too with so many bugs and glitches and the pause button on that hardly works! Console ports need to be taken more seriously.
@@VapourforBlood yeah I feel ya on pillars of eternity 2. I loved the first game. Played second game on gamepass. Gave up 1/2 through when save files got corrupted. Sooo many bugs. Really frustrating that crpg ports suck. That being said, my Xbox port of divinity 2 was excellent.
@@ttuarmyjag84 I beat Divinity 2 on PS4 too and it was a pretty damn polished experience. So it gives me hope for baldurs gate 3 and Larian are setting standards on that front! Beamdogs ports are spotty at best. The baldurs gate enhanced ports pretty good but neverwinter nights was a mess and planescape has bugs still not fixed. It’s maddening. It’s times like this I wish I owned a good PC.
@@ttuarmyjag84 yeah I avoided trying to pick up Poe2 on the console, the first Poe had load times so bad that it killed my interest in playing. like every new scene took about a minute to load up and you're constantly going to new scenes. I figured I'll try to play that game on the next gen to see if the load time improves drastically enough or not. I didn't even bother with Poe2, I figured it would be the same.

I absolutely loved Kingmaker as a CRPG, and hearing your review sounds like WotR will be everything I wanted Kingmaker to be minus the parts I didnt like minus major bugs plus a huge QoL update overall! I love the HoMM combat addition and I just cannot wait to dive into the game tomorrow!
This is part of what I didn't enjoy in Kingmaker! That and the kingdom management honestly wasn't for me. I've enjoyed WATCHING others play it but I never will. I hear that this one is much better with that kind of stuff though so I'm going to give this a chance
Too bad these games don't have multiplayer modes. Would've liked to create the party with friends, each controlling one character, like in Neverwinter Nights 1.
@@samithonjames370 you must be new.. from this age where multiplayer means loot games and games as service. Try Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights.. great singleplayer games with multiplayer/coop options.
Feels like I need a PhD in order to enjoy this game lmao. I wish I had the experience with these kinda games, always seem so daunting to pick up, but hate to miss out on the depth.
This game is actually pretty good about teaching the mechanics though yeah, my first playthrough was 160hrs and I still was doing shit wrong by the end. The channel crpgbro has great tutorials on a lot of the mechanics that helped me a ton, and just knowing pnp systems is good even if you never touch this game since alot carries over to other crpgs
@@Silverwolf0080 Yeah It just had a couple things that I couldn't get into, the combat being one of them for sure. And I feel like I didn't have the patience at THAT time for it. Not saying the game was horrible and I hated it, Just at that time It wasn't gelling with me. But this one looks really good actually.

I couldn't get into Kingmaker with all the bugs, imbalanced gameplay (early in its life at least), and non-turn-based combat. I tried again when they implemented turn-based combat. But you could tell that it was an afterthought. As the games balance went really out of wack and the encounters got very long and tedious as a result. Not to mention getting an unlucky roll near the end of a turn-based combat felt especially demoralizing. As it was a much more significant investment of time into trying again. I'm hoping that they learned a lot and implemented more thorough design for using turn-based mode. And that the world is more rich and interesting (seems that one has been exceeded). I took tomorrow off from work to give this game my full attention. XD
kingmakers super good - imo best isometric rpg - atm, played trough it and found just one bug, but it wasnt too bad, theres easy switch between turn and real time combat (which is BY FAR the best execution, you can turn based combat vs tough fights, and blitz real time on easier fight), the imbalanced gameplay... idk about that, im used to 3.5 dnd so it was pretty okay for me, with some tough boses.
Pathfinder, like DnD is a really hard game to make as videogame. PF thrives with preparation, buffs and tactics. This made most of the combat tedious. SO MANY RANDOM ENCOUNTERS, it was a pain. Even with turn based you could see it was just kill for killing and you needed mods to buff your party.
I loved playing Divinity Original Sin 2, it was one of the first CRPG's I really got into on PC and Switch. But I found that I didn't enjoy the idea of a maximum amount of experience available in the game and the very random quality of loot. Also the art style was a little silly at times. This game feels like something I will enjoy much more, between the more grounded storyline and art direction, and random encounters while traveling. A bit overwhelming at first but I'm excited to try it.
@@Magmakojote Yeah I like that way more. When I was playing through DoS2, I had this fear that I wouldn't get my characters to the highest level because I didn't complete this side quest or missed some random encounter. At least in this game I don't need to worry about missing something.
is it close enough to the core rulebook to be able to use that as a manual (particularly when it comes to planning out a character)? I really miss physical manuals, especially for deep, complex RPGs like this
I gave this game a try and it definitely easily lasts 100hr+ for me. However, the game was great until act 3 where it became overly complicated and boring. Especially the crusade mode and the bugs, performance of the game itself. I was lost where to go most of the time as there objectives are quite unclear. The battle system is a hit or miss especially with spells where 90% of them are debuffs or buffs and not attack spells. (also most of the spells will miss in this game until end game because of monsters high spell resistance). Once in awhile, you'll encounter a way out of level range mob such as bosses that requires tuning down the game's difficulty to get pass. It's such a shame that this game has so much potential but messed up by bad balancing and game performance.
@@Terszel If you're familiar with minmaxing in pathfinder you can smoke pretty much everything you run across. The difficulty modes in the game warn you that you're expected to have a very good party for the higher ones. Playing on lower difficulties is very highly recommended if you aren't familiar with the pathfinder ruleset or don't feel like running powergamey builds.
that's min/maxing for you. either accept that this is not going to be Pillars/Divinity/Tyranny where you are going to cruise through by mid-game with little effort required on the player's part, or don't buy it. WOTR is at least easier than Kingmaker, which I would agree threw a bit too much at the player, too early on.
I managed to finish the game on Story Difficulty because I didn't wanna struggle through the entire game on harder difficulties.. I have to say let's give this game 6 months to a year for the bugs to be fixed. The game by itself is pretty good, graphics and story are top notch. However, the gameplay mechanics especially the balancing issues are terrible! There are so many bugs in this game and the framerate also suffers a lot in later acts! I will come back maybe in a year and try again and see if there are any improvements. Pros: -Great story -Great voice acting -Nice graphics and game environments -Good length and tons of side quests Cons: -Balancing issues -Core game mechanics -Most attack/offensive spells in the game misses and there is nothing you can do about it rn. (Bugged?) -Tons!!! I mean TONNNNSS of bugs!!! Many are game breaking if you don't save regularly. -Too many unnecessary skills and repeated skills that all companions share. There were so many to choose from and so many to buff before every fight. (Most only last 1 minute...) My advice to the developers: -Condense the number of skills into more useful ones. Don't necessary need 10 levels of the same skills.. just replace it like all other rpg games. -Skills should have a greater impact whether it's offensive or defensive. A lot of skills overlaps, especially remove aliments skills should be combined and not act individually.. so hard to navigate what to cast and what debuffs my character has atm. -Navigation of quests with better guidance and objectives. -Add a minimap and the ability to zoom out of current maps. -Crusade mode should be redone entirely. -Specific weapons should comeby more frequently especially when the character is specialized in only a specific weapon. I never had a falcion for my Falcion focused main character... -There are too much readings, but i think this is not as important as other aspects to be improved. -Difficulty settings does not make sense, normal is too hard, casual is too easy until after act 4 then it becomes Normal. So I had to play on Story mode... -Most attacks especially spells misses and have no use. The dice rolling is the core mechanic but i think it's a very bad one unless skills can improve the odds of landing a hit significantly.. even in end game i was missing most of my spells and half of my attacks. (I ahve all the skills that boost the Attack rolls already.) TL:DR It's a good game with potential once the bugs and the balancing issues are worked out. Give it 6 months at least and this will be a great game!
I have been waiting for release ever since I backed Wrath of the Righteous on Kickstarter. I had no regrets after backing Kingmaker and really glad that their 2nd game isn't going to disappoint either.
Maybe i pass on this for now, remembering how bad the first game was on release i think i have to spoiler the story of the game and watch streamers to see if its even playable. Dont know if the character creation with 30 subclasses and like 200 perks to pick from is really a good thing… usually 190 of them are just worse then the others.
people playing the beta have been saying for almost a year now that even the unfinished beta was more stable than kingmaker was at launch. you have to understand kingmaker was their first game, like ever. Those same bugs wont be an issue at all.
The problem i see with pathfinder is that these games are for the tryhard gamer, divinity 2, wasteland 3 even pillars of eternity are more gamefriendly and are really fun to play while pathfinder you have to research a lot or out a lot, a lot of effort, so you dont die in normal difficulty against a weak boss
I tried WotR on lowest difficulty and still the quest design just made me mad until I gave up. I just have better to do in my life than researching how to solve overcomplicated quest puzzles or searching huge areas a third time for one NPC which I can not find -- so I rather play BG3 -- and when I need something else, I go back to D:OS2.

"Every choice matters." Literally every rpg with "options" says this. Literally every one is lying. SOME choices matter. The rest are minor details that only effect local issues with no actual impact on the plot.
After completing this game I haven't played another rpg that has had so many choices matter. Obviously not everything will cause massive changes throughout the world but there are deffinitly changes occuring.
I'm running a Crossblooded Undead/Arcane Sorcerer with a focus on Necromancy and Evocation who worships Urgathoa. Gebbite Necromancer background, Neutral Evil since Urgathoa won't let me be Chaotic Neutral as I wished to be, and I aim to become a Lich and have a whole party of undead.
So far I agree with almost everything other than the voice acting. IMO some companions are completely grating to listen to. It's a combination of unnatural dialogue and possibly the casting of certain NPC's, making some dialogue sections absolutely cringe worthy. I'm only 20hr's in so I'm hoping as a whole they end up good but so far I'm getting beamdog NPC flashbacks

No kidding, after I kinda fucked up my builds in my first game in PK, I literally spent almost an entire weekend in the character creator as well as internet guides & wikis reading about all the mechanics and classes, considering all the options and trying to understand what builds will satisfy me both performance- and roleplay-wise.
And taking into account that WotR has more than twice as many classes as PK... yeah, 80 hours it would have certainly been if that was my first game instead of PK.
Yh I hate when after 80 hours you think your character is cool and finished, but then when you start the game you go nope,lets start this over

@@Schizm1 PF:KM was better than DOS2 in all aspects except gameplay IMO, and gameplay is a pretty huge aspect of games. DOS2 had simpler builds and more tactical fights than PF:KM, which I enjoyed more though I know a lot of people disagree. That being said PF:KM was still amazing and the last 24 hrs before WoTR are painful.
Imagine if Owlcat and Laurian Studios had a lovechild, combining the best each Dev has to offer into one of the most in depth and immersive D&D games ever made... oh the possibilities.
Pathfinder has way more memorable characters and way better characters development. I enjoyed Divinity's characters, but they were lackluster compared to Pathfinder's cast. Of course, Divinity's cast and how they interact with your main character (assuming you made your own) definitely has a different flow.
@@Vahn421 The thing is that about the gameplay in combat it's much more developped in DOS-2 . The spells, effects, interactions with the world and skill-combination.
So yeah, I would like to see a good fusion between those.
They have different strengths and weaknesses, and I appreciate that both exist are and giving us great new games in this genre.
A couple years ago, you could've shown me this type of game and i would not even spend 2 seconds paying attention to it, but after entering the Isometric RPG Realm through Larian Studios and their acclaimed Divinity 2 Original Sin game, it's like i found Nirvana and suddenly the genre unveils itself like, like Pokémon as a 6 year old kid. I'm defenitively playing this one out while waiting for Baldur's Gate 3 full release. Who knows, maybe i'll still be hooked on this one around its release date. Bravissimo video
I have played DOSII for almost 500 hours. Imo it's a masterpiece. This game has my attention for sure. Is it very similar compared to DOSII? I'm really struggling if I should buy it or not.
@@Krikns I loved dos 2 have like 500 hrs but I now strongly prefer the pathfinder games, though theyre super different. Dos games are like baby's first roleplaying game in comparison. Thats saying something considering what normally passes as an rpg
I just got into gaming last winter and Kingmaker Pathfinder was my first CRPG. I've gone on to complete DOS2 and am well into the first Witcher Game. SO STOKED for this - Kingmaker had problems (cough, kingdom management, cough) but I loved it so much and it got me hooked on the genre. Thanks for this review!

I'm about 50 hours into the game. As soon as we obtain the "permanent homebase", the scope of the game gets ridiculously overwhelming. There's too much things to do and keep track of. I'm very tempted to just set the crusade thingies to automatic because that army battle mode is boring as hell.
Other than that it's been a blast! Definitely one of the best RPG I've played in recent years.
The option to be able to do that is a great thing though!
It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea. I'm assuming the devs were big fans of Heroes of Might and Magic which was very popular in the late 90's and early 2000's, because a few aspects of the combat are literally direct rip offs of how that game plays. This is a good thing if you know the genre. I've always been a huge fan so I slipped right in and found little to no issue absolutely trashing enemies without any prior understanding of the game. But that also revealed to me anyone WHO HAS NEVER PLAYED Heroes of Might and Magic back in the day is going to be at a complete loss. So it's very much a double edged sword and I'm glad they put the auto combat in.
As a Heroes of Might and Magic veteran, I can easily say Crusader mode is heavily biased toward certain cheesy strategies and once exploited, makes the entire thing way too easy. It's a shame most players engaged in crusader mode are going to either be frustrated out of their mind, or are going to know the genre well enough to exploit its flaws and wreck everything too easily.

I cannot wait to completely dive and lose weeks of my life in this game with my Cavalier build.
I would advise people to stay away from it. Loads of game breaking bugs still present. Plenty of Quests are barred because of an event that won't trigger. The Crusader gameplay literally locks up. Hell, respecing your character breaks the game. The current patch mentions that these have been fixed but they're still there. Even if you redo the game from scratch.
People are going to be spending $50 for what is essentially a game that's still in Early Access.

people are literally paying full price for Early Access games...right now. BG3, Black Geyser, and that's just to name a few out of the hundreds. and a lot of them stay in EA for years.
I have only recently started playing Kingmaker and I'm loving it, so by the time I'm done with it, I'm hoping Wrath of the Righteous has been released on consoles and maybe even have some DLC. I hope you guys will produce a lot of builds for this game!

I have certainly been enjoying it, enough to buy the Pathfinder Core Rulebook. I'm still very early in the game - haven't even attacked the Gray Garrison yet - but I'm already at level 5, and at this point, I'm pretty much hooked. Seeing Owlcat continue to support the game with more patches and DLC is just great, and my only regret is not playing it sooner.
I was hugely impressed with King maker (played it after patches) so im super ready for this!

This game is looking fantastic a real crpg with a heroes of might and magic 3 mini game inside, cant wait ..... And thank god no multiplayer , single player crpgs are the best game experience, you do everything in your own time , you can explore and learn the lore , perfection !!!
dunno, i loved the multiplayer in Divinity Original Sin 2, it's a way to play with different choices than you'd usually make, seeing parts of the game in different ways. I played through the game twice on my own and 4 times multiplayer with a couple different people. It does add a lot of change which is really fun, to me atleast.

They need build planner really bad. I know this games' main audience is people familiar with Pathfinder, but I really wish they made it more accessible. Doesn't matter if they dump everything in game, it's still hard to learn and understand the long term implication of builds. It really daunting for someone new to the system when there's a bunch of classes, then a bunch of class specializations, then a bunch of mutually/semi exclusive decision ever few levels that can dramatically impact how to play your character.
So basically everything is improved from Kingmaker and that was already a great game. I am unbelievably excited for this
Unpolished and priced as if it's a triple A game. Doesn't include all of it's content immediately. You have two DLCs that are not a part of the initial release and have their own separate cost.
Buy for the price of one cake half a cake.
And the settings menu is only 80% functional at best.

Anyhow, when hovering over teammate portraits, there's no name... at the least.
When RMB clicking on the portraits, nothing. No menu anymore.
When hovering over anything that holds loot, it is labeled as "loot".
Pretty damn lazy. Things should be labeled what they are, like:
Corpse, crate, pot, remains, bookcase, shelf, etc...
Also, on almost every goddamn item there is text about how this item might be of interest to a merchant.
Money icon doesn't look like money, but it looks like literal "bullseye".
And all the items have their cost shown without an option to switch it off.
The game throws tutorials at me occasionally even though I disabled the whole options list for various tutorials. All of them.
In character creation, even though I've selected a male character... in some class descriptions, there is put "she" instead of "he".
There is only one dwarven voice.
There's literally just 1 voice for each race at best... if non at all for some.

Handful of portraits for each race and they're all mashed together with other gender portraits.
20 year old games had more, way more.
Non working keybinds, some keys cannot be rebound even though they're removed from everywhere, like "space". When rebinding keys, the game doesn't let you do that if a key is already bound to some action.
No, you have to unbind a desired key first and then you can use it somewhere else.
Same thing for space didnt work.
Unbound it from every action it was bound to and it still says that the key is bound to some invisible action.
Also when having dialogs, it's not a choice, it's a literal list of dialog options you can go through for some game completionist purposes.
When you do have a choice between bad and good decision, you have just those... two options and nothing in between when determeing some outcome. It's like i'm dumb n able to think only black and white, good or bad.
Team mates decide sht on their own, doesn't matter if it's you or anyone else making the decision.
Often times when you decide on something, be it good or bad, while having team mates in your party visually close to you, hearing your conversation.... they don't react and pretty often too.
The paladin class I'm playing is lawful good, but the conversations have only two options... either lawful or something bad. My character has no chance in being reasonable. There are no options for that.
All of this is said only playing for literally couple of hours.
All of this is said minding the fact that this game is smaller in size than kingmaker and is way more costly. 50 euro instead of 20.... and a part of the content that should've been released is cut out and sold as dlc on day 1 at launch.
Getting for the price of one whole cake, only a part of one cake.
P.s. The dragon dying in the beginning was lame and heavily stupid as it can possibly be. Might've just fallen on her knees before me, I would've decapitated her on the spot myself if she so desires.
Imagine being able to behead a dragon in the first few minutes of the game. I would love to kill a dumbass dragon such as this one, that seems suicidal.
Also... imagine not avoiding a strike... imagine transforming right infront of the enemy and immediately falling under his strike.

Man, I still have PTSD from the console version of King's Maker. That game was buggy as hell, and I had to restart about 3-4 times before I gave up on it. That said when it did work I thought it was one of the best CRPGs I've played in years. Not sure when I'll try to give WotR a try, but it's good to know that the game doesn't seem as buggy (so far).
I’ve had a LOT of issues with mounted combat and some weird shenanigans with charge and movement in general in turn based mode but other than that there hasn’t been anything too crazy

Played the game through multiple times since release. It still surprises me just how different each run feels, because the mythic paths genuinely feel completely different.
That said, to claim this game did not suffer from game breaking bugs is outrageous. Hopefully it's all fixed now, after a year, but on release? This game was literally bugged to all hell. I encountered countless game breaking bugs, one of which quite literally set me back 60 hours of progress, which only didn't result in a total restart because I had kept a save from before the trigger for the bug. Which turned out to be using the respec option before you gained your mythic path choice at M3.
Aside from that, I had multiple bugs where essential campaign map battles either wouldn't load, or recruits stopped appearing entirely, meaning they were impossible to beat. Other bugs included immortal enemies in the main game and on a couple of other instances, major NPC's required for 'main' quest missions failing to spawn.
So no, this game was far from without bugs, it was one of the worst games I'd played that year for bugs. And it wasn't just me, it happened to every friend I know who played it as well, all with a completely different array of bugs.
That said, the game itself and the story was so good that I persevered through that (all those bugs were on a single play through...), even after losing 60 hours of play time and wound up completing 3 play throughs back to back... So highly bugged, but still highly recommended.

D:OS2 is still my king of this genre. I played it so much i did entire run on Honour mode.The story, companion story and that last fight with Lucian, just...dear god still hits me that ambient and music!

I would recommand playing using a pre build character during act 1.
I always use act1 for crpg as a test bench for character creation. In DOS2 i literally spent weeks playing act 1 over and over again haha to prefect my character creation that suite my play style
in DOS2 1st act is the only really good act. The rest of them are boring and feel like a grind.

Please don't compare this game to Divinity original sin. that's not even a D&D game and nothing compared to this massive colossal of RPG goodness!!! pre build character are there for newbies who are foolish enough to dare to play this game. veterans always create their characters from scratch to suit their playstyle. I was on the fence, and likely would have passed trying this. This was a game I wanted to like, but figured the combat systems would be too light and the dialogue too laborious for me to get into.
I usually love dungeon crawlers and many RPG archetypes; but I don't usually enjoy heavily story-driven games that revolve around dialogue to this extent.
However, your highlights into character customization and progression; deep companion progression; and broad elements like combat, the game world, and side content really did change my mind. I will be trying this.

I love this game so much! I'm still in Kenabres right now. So far I've tried Wizard, Magus, Monk, and Paladin. Every class has compelling skills and interesting mechanics which is making it ever so hard to decide who will advance the story first...

One of the most important points, especially with the predecessor, is the technical condition. How many bugs are there? In other tests, there is talk of gamebracking bugs.
He literally spoke about this in the video..he said he was surprised how smooth it was and didn't see any game breaking bugs.

Game is great. Being able to swap between turn based and active combat makes some trash fights less painful.
Some of the early fights are quite unforgiving, but once you get your feet under you, it’s a real blast. Not a huge fan of the army battles though once you get on the main map. Wish I could just ignore all that. My only gripe.
8.5/10 for price point with this amount of content, though? When DOS2 got a 10/10 for only $5.00 less?

Divinity: Original Sin 2 could have been a $90 game, still been a 10 out of 10. That game is massive, superbly designed, and the replayability of it is through the absolute roof.

DOS2 is simply more polished then Wotr. Also there's too many tedious things in this game that waste time, mainly the Map. I give the game a 9/10. The game is defninitly not a 7(average) but it's to buggy to give it a 10.
I suppprted the Kickstarter at stand tier to get kingmaker only just started playing and it's so fun can't wait to finish up my campaign and get started on this one. They did a great job

Kingmaker was such a massive surprise for me - in a good way - and this looks even better.
Turn based is in Kingmakers for over a year now both on GOG and Steam versions (dunno about others but I suppose also)
Here we go again spending 24 hours, on just character creation and experimenting with possible builds, takes me back to my BG1&2 days. These games are the bane of min/maxers, it is possible to days or even weeks before you are satisfied with your your own characrer build a d actually play the damn game.
yeah, and then you watch some youtube build video and go like "daamn, that looks great, why didnt I think of that... reroll!"
If it anything like the tabletop version all you have to do is make a max Charisma Paladin and go on demon genocide (aside from the friendly demons). And a Wizard for transport. The story actively encourages silly superhero min-maxing so don't worry. Be a paladin or a 9th level caster, start with a 20 in the best stat, go berzerk.

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous is the BEST cRPG the last 20+ years. The last games this good were Planescape:Torment, Arcanum and Vampire:Bloodlines.

Unfortunately I hear bg3 won't come out of early access until late 2022 or even 2023 which isn't surprising considering its been almost a year in early access there's still no act 2 :( means you're not torn between both games tho if you have the time!

Looks like they learned a lot from the first game which was let down by bad balancing and too many bugs. But it had potential. Now that they've learned, I think it might become a really great game!
Playing through Kingmaker now, I haven't encountered any bugs that affect gameplay or questlines. The worst thing that happens is occasionally a turn in combat will hang when there are too many summons, but it's fixed immediately by toggling turns off and back on again. I feel like they must have learned a lot.
What does one have to do to get replayability of 10 with you guys?
Personally I don't care about scores but I'm genuinely wondering what it takes if a pathfinder game with mythic paths and everything can't hit it.
I do get what you mean and I actually agree with you, this game should totally be a 10 in both this score and maybe others. To play devil’s advocate though, maybe they are thinking of arpg levels of replay-ability like Diablo and Path of Exile as examples of a 10.

@@kylerobinson6102 wotr is more replayable than demon souls imo. The combat is what keeps people playing demon souls, but the story is the same everytime. You get multiple different questlines and companions if you replay wotr, so to me it's one of the most replayable games ive ever seen outside of competitive ones like LoL or whatnot.
@@DaCheat100 I think replayability is subjective. For example, I enjoy Diablo, but I never spend much time on the post-game loot grind. People say that Sekiro is not replayable, yet I am half-way through my third playthrough.
Multiplayer for one. What's the fun if I can't play this together with my friends?
I hope the console versions are well optimised. Consoles get a raw deal with most CRPG ports
@TheIneptDrifter so true. I picked it up on Xbox. And I loved the game but despite hearing the pc version had been fixed the console port was awful. Terrible file corruption issues, poor frame rate, and awful load times. If owl cat has another company handle the port again then it will likely be bad again
@@ttuarmyjag84 I’m on base PS4 and while I loved the game the technical issues and terrible frame rate was difficult to ignore! I did not get crashes but I only played a few hours so it would probably get worse. Pillars of eternity 2 is just as bad on PS4 too with so many bugs and glitches and the pause button on that hardly works! Console ports need to be taken more seriously.
@@VapourforBlood yeah I feel ya on pillars of eternity 2. I loved the first game. Played second game on gamepass. Gave up 1/2 through when save files got corrupted. Sooo many bugs. Really frustrating that crpg ports suck. That being said, my Xbox port of divinity 2 was excellent.
@@ttuarmyjag84 I beat Divinity 2 on PS4 too and it was a pretty damn polished experience. So it gives me hope for baldurs gate 3 and Larian are setting standards on that front! Beamdogs ports are spotty at best. The baldurs gate enhanced ports pretty good but neverwinter nights was a mess and planescape has bugs still not fixed. It’s maddening. It’s times like this I wish I owned a good PC.
@@ttuarmyjag84 yeah I avoided trying to pick up Poe2 on the console, the first Poe had load times so bad that it killed my interest in playing. like every new scene took about a minute to load up and you're constantly going to new scenes. I figured I'll try to play that game on the next gen to see if the load time improves drastically enough or not. I didn't even bother with Poe2, I figured it would be the same.

I absolutely loved Kingmaker as a CRPG, and hearing your review sounds like WotR will be everything I wanted Kingmaker to be minus the parts I didnt like minus major bugs plus a huge QoL update overall!

I think it is as Amiri was a base barbarian. But you will find different magic items
I'm just scared that they put timers again, gonna wait before buying
most timers are gone, the few that remain are made very clear to the player. So no hidden timers that result in game over.
This is part of what I didn't enjoy in Kingmaker! That and the kingdom management honestly wasn't for me. I've enjoyed WATCHING others play it but I never will. I hear that this one is much better with that kind of stuff though so I'm going to give this a chance

I hope Owlcat uses a 2e based system if they adapt another AP. I would love to see a Strength of Thousands game. Maybe go less gigantic...

This game is actually pretty good about teaching the mechanics though yeah, my first playthrough was 160hrs and I still was doing shit wrong by the end.
The channel crpgbro has great tutorials on a lot of the mechanics that helped me a ton, and just knowing pnp systems is good even if you never touch this game since alot carries over to other crpgs

I tried playing Kingmaker when it came out but I just couldn't get into it and refunded it. but I might actually pick this up eventually.

Not saying the game was horrible and I hated it, Just at that time It wasn't gelling with me. But this one looks really good actually.

I couldn't get into Kingmaker with all the bugs, imbalanced gameplay (early in its life at least), and non-turn-based combat. I tried again when they implemented turn-based combat. But you could tell that it was an afterthought. As the games balance went really out of wack and the encounters got very long and tedious as a result. Not to mention getting an unlucky roll near the end of a turn-based combat felt especially demoralizing. As it was a much more significant investment of time into trying again. I'm hoping that they learned a lot and implemented more thorough design for using turn-based mode. And that the world is more rich and interesting (seems that one has been exceeded). I took tomorrow off from work to give this game my full attention. XD
kingmakers super good - imo best isometric rpg - atm, played trough it and found just one bug, but it wasnt too bad, theres easy switch between turn and real time combat (which is BY FAR the best execution, you can turn based combat vs tough fights, and blitz real time on easier fight), the imbalanced gameplay... idk about that, im used to 3.5 dnd so it was pretty okay for me, with some tough boses.
Pathfinder, like DnD is a really hard game to make as videogame. PF thrives with preparation, buffs and tactics. This made most of the combat tedious. SO MANY RANDOM ENCOUNTERS, it was a pain.
Even with turn based you could see it was just kill for killing and you needed mods to buff your party.
You have your own Boss music in this game. and I love it when it starts and all your enemies go "What's happening! WAAAAH!"
I loved playing Divinity Original Sin 2, it was one of the first CRPG's I really got into on PC and Switch. But I found that I didn't enjoy the idea of a maximum amount of experience available in the game and the very random quality of loot. Also the art style was a little silly at times. This game feels like something I will enjoy much more, between the more grounded storyline and art direction, and random encounters while traveling. A bit overwhelming at first but I'm excited to try it.

@@Magmakojote Yeah I like that way more. When I was playing through DoS2, I had this fear that I wouldn't get my characters to the highest level because I didn't complete this side quest or missed some random encounter. At least in this game I don't need to worry about missing something.

is it close enough to the core rulebook to be able to use that as a manual (particularly when it comes to planning out a character)? I really miss physical manuals, especially for deep, complex RPGs like this
Kingmaker was as close to the TTRPG as possible, so yes
I gave this game a try and it definitely easily lasts 100hr+ for me. However, the game was great until act 3 where it became overly complicated and boring. Especially the crusade mode and the bugs, performance of the game itself. I was lost where to go most of the time as there objectives are quite unclear. The battle system is a hit or miss especially with spells where 90% of them are debuffs or buffs and not attack spells. (also most of the spells will miss in this game until end game because of monsters high spell resistance). Once in awhile, you'll encounter a way out of level range mob such as bosses that requires tuning down the game's difficulty to get pass. It's such a shame that this game has so much potential but messed up by bad balancing and game performance.
Im wondering why all these games have such terrible balancing issues. Im willing to wait more months to get a proper game with good balancing
@@Terszel If you're familiar with minmaxing in pathfinder you can smoke pretty much everything you run across. The difficulty modes in the game warn you that you're expected to have a very good party for the higher ones. Playing on lower difficulties is very highly recommended if you aren't familiar with the pathfinder ruleset or don't feel like running powergamey builds.
that's min/maxing for you. either accept that this is not going to be Pillars/Divinity/Tyranny where you are going to cruise through by mid-game with little effort required on the player's part, or don't buy it. WOTR is at least easier than Kingmaker, which I would agree threw a bit too much at the player, too early on.
The balancing problem is in an issue in almost all these CRPGs. You played Divinity on Tactical Mode? Its silly
I managed to finish the game on Story Difficulty because I didn't wanna struggle through the entire game on harder difficulties.. I have to say let's give this game 6 months to a year for the bugs to be fixed. The game by itself is pretty good, graphics and story are top notch. However, the gameplay mechanics especially the balancing issues are terrible! There are so many bugs in this game and the framerate also suffers a lot in later acts! I will come back maybe in a year and try again and see if there are any improvements.
Pros:
-Great story
-Great voice acting
-Nice graphics and game environments
-Good length and tons of side quests
Cons:
-Balancing issues
-Core game mechanics
-Most attack/offensive spells in the game misses and there is nothing you can do about it rn. (Bugged?)
-Tons!!! I mean TONNNNSS of bugs!!! Many are game breaking if you don't save regularly.
-Too many unnecessary skills and repeated skills that all companions share. There were so many to choose from and so many to buff before every fight. (Most only last 1 minute...)
My advice to the developers:
-Condense the number of skills into more useful ones. Don't necessary need 10 levels of the same skills.. just replace it like all other rpg games.
-Skills should have a greater impact whether it's offensive or defensive. A lot of skills overlaps, especially remove aliments skills should be combined and not act individually.. so hard to navigate what to cast and what debuffs my character has atm.
-Navigation of quests with better guidance and objectives.
-Add a minimap and the ability to zoom out of current maps.
-Crusade mode should be redone entirely.
-Specific weapons should comeby more frequently especially when the character is specialized in only a specific weapon. I never had a falcion for my Falcion focused main character...
-There are too much readings, but i think this is not as important as other aspects to be improved.
-Difficulty settings does not make sense, normal is too hard, casual is too easy until after act 4 then it becomes Normal. So I had to play on Story mode...
-Most attacks especially spells misses and have no use. The dice rolling is the core mechanic but i think it's a very bad one unless skills can improve the odds of landing a hit significantly.. even in end game i was missing most of my spells and half of my attacks. (I ahve all the skills that boost the Attack rolls already.)
TL:DR
It's a good game with potential once the bugs and the balancing issues are worked out. Give it 6 months at least and this will be a great game!
I have been waiting for release ever since I backed Wrath of the Righteous on Kickstarter. I had no regrets after backing Kingmaker and really glad that their 2nd game isn't going to disappoint either.
Maybe i pass on this for now, remembering how bad the first game was on release i think i have to spoiler the story of the game and watch streamers to see if its even playable.
Dont know if the character creation with 30 subclasses and like 200 perks to pick from is really a good thing… usually 190 of them are just worse then the others.
people playing the beta have been saying for almost a year now that even the unfinished beta was more stable than kingmaker was at launch. you have to understand kingmaker was their first game, like ever. Those same bugs wont be an issue at all.

The problem i see with pathfinder is that these games are for the tryhard gamer, divinity 2, wasteland 3 even pillars of eternity are more gamefriendly and are really fun to play while pathfinder you have to research a lot or out a lot, a lot of effort, so you dont die in normal difficulty against a weak boss
I tried WotR on lowest difficulty and still the quest design just made me mad until I gave up.
I just have better to do in my life than researching how to solve overcomplicated quest puzzles or searching huge areas a third time for one NPC which I can not find -- so I rather play BG3 -- and when I need something else, I go back to D:OS2.
I have yet to play Kingmaker. Do you recommend it?

"Every choice matters." Literally every rpg with "options" says this. Literally every one is lying. SOME choices matter. The rest are minor details that only effect local issues with no actual impact on the plot.
After completing this game I haven't played another rpg that has had so many choices matter. Obviously not everything will cause massive changes throughout the world but there are deffinitly changes occuring.

I'm running a Crossblooded Undead/Arcane Sorcerer with a focus on Necromancy and Evocation who worships Urgathoa. Gebbite Necromancer background, Neutral Evil since Urgathoa won't let me be Chaotic Neutral as I wished to be, and I aim to become a Lich and have a whole party of undead.
So far I agree with almost everything other than the voice acting. IMO some companions are completely grating to listen to. It's a combination of unnatural dialogue and possibly the casting of certain NPC's, making some dialogue sections absolutely cringe worthy. I'm only 20hr's in so I'm hoping as a whole they end up good but so far I'm getting beamdog NPC flashbacks
