There is a great story of him wandering over to one of the residential houses during shooting, asking for a sandwich, and then taking a nap on the sofa.

I lived down the street from Frankie Laine, one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. Now to be fair he was a crazy old drunk, I was about 7 when I first ran into him and he started yakking to me and just telling me old random stories while drunk that I didn't quite get, but he was always super nice. When I was 13 he was SUPER fun as he would invite me in and give me a shot of bourbon and regale me with tales of how the neighbors were sleeping with each other and had illegal permits on their houses. It wasn't until after he died that I finally was informed that oh yeah that was the dude that sang Rawhide!
Reminds me of hanging out with the fellas down south of Cedar Hill, Texas....you were going to listen to George Strait, Willie Nelson, and Patsy Cline....and that was ok with me cuz that was all some real good music....good times.
