When i was very young, sbout 15 or 16, i went for a hike with some cousins in the California mountains and accidently stepped into a hole filled with ice water it's intresting because the sudden shock will stop you from breathing, for me it wasn't deep i was able to climb out pretty easily but ill never forget that ice water and how it froze my breathing for a few seconds.
In reality they barley ever spent time together. He hated her and treated her terribly when they did. She tried to like him but found him to be an angry drunk asshole. And only after he was dead did she ascend the throne.
The successful plot to overthrow Peter and take the throne was carried out while Peter was still alive. But for him to be of no harm to her reign, he was certainly killed. Peter wasn't just a drunk asshole, he was a sadist who made his anti Russian sentiments clear, even whilst being Emperor. It was complicated.

I think Holt made that character and they decided to keep him on longer than anticipated. And it was a while to have his character in the Tv show to develop. Like a slow burn. I loved the writing.
When I was 13- my grandfather ( I was closer to him than anyone including my parents) died, everyone kept it a secret from me until we made it back to our hometown (I was under the impression we had to go back for a surprise visit.) I was confused when we didn’t go say hi to him immediately. My mom finally told me after she sent away the rest of the family. I tried to call a cab to to take me to the hospital to see him, my mom tried to stand in front of door and I screamed and pushed her telling her she was lying, that she had to be confused, and back to trying to pull her out of the door frame to go see him. For a good hour and half I had to be held down cause I just couldn’t understand. Denial is a powerful thing.

He was close to my brother like I was. My brother was the only male cousin he had as he grew up. So he wanted my brother to be proud of him I later found out. That next day when he was being sworn in to go to boot camp is the morning my brother passed away. His parents decided not to tell him. It must have been difficult for them. He didn't find out until the day of graduation when his mom and another cousin of ours told him in the hotel room. She told me he didn't take it well. I was worried for him. I would have been more worried if he found out the day he was sworn in. I'm sorry for your loss. I pray for your healing as well.
This scene is why my husband constantly makes fun of me for being an emotional woman, because he called one day when I was on my lunch break and I cried about how this fictional character died and did my best to explain why it had such an impact with him having no real context. I also love the actor. His death was crushing, and the acting was phenomenal.

Holy shit, her eyes. That only happens in (sober) humans when they’re in shock, experiencing trauma, filled with adrenaline, or after having their fight or flight instinct triggered. You can’t make your pupils do that without one or more of those stimuli, meaning that she had to quite literally invoke at least one of those feelings in earnest to be able to make them dilate for this scene. It’s not a pleasant or positive experience at all, either. That’s genuinely really good fucking acting. She needs an Emmy just for that tbh

I haven’t watched a show that has actually made me feel emotional like that in a while so yes it actually hurt but I couldn’t help but kind of love the irony of it all. The clothing he was wearing and how heavy it gets when wet would pull him straight down and often when people fall into water that cold they have a gasp reaction and immediately inhale water they can't help it. There was a study they did on how so many people used to immediately drown when they slipped into rivers that they should easily be able to climb out of. It might just look like he's giving up when actually he's already inhaled water plus the shock of the cold has actually killed him that quickly. People in Alaska actually train for these situations quite often throughout their life and part of the reason that some of them survive is the lighter weight clothing we have today that doesn't immediately drag your head under the water.

Although I watched how Peter was horrible at the start of the show the way he changed for her and wanted to be better for her is just absolutely heart breaking only to have him be takenaway before he could have rieached his peak.
