Very thorough review and useful comprehensive take-down tutorial. Would have been nice to point out areas that require correct lubrification compatible with airguns such as silicone grease and silicone chamber lube. Have the exact same from KWC. Will soon tackle adding some wood grips for extra realism as you have very well done also. Nice work, mate.
Richard Standish Thank you for those kind words, and I'm glad you found it useful! I'll try and remember to include lubrication info in my next videos. Good luck with your wooden grips!
I bought some walnut wood grips for my KWC P08 Luger from ebay...I read somewhere they come from india and are the same ones which ever store you get them...certainly the advertising pics are the same...But man, they are hard work to get to fit...and the lugs at the top where they slot into the gun are too low for the KWC so they have to be cut off meaning you have to figure some other method of getting them to stick at the top...Also they are a millimetre short at the bottom in some areas and the screw doesn't align perfectly...filing and grinding them out is also laborious as you have to do it bit by bit and then repositioning to make sure you are hitting the right area or not cutting through the wood...Took me a few hours to get one fitted and still have to figure a way to get the lugs at the top in or even glue the whole grip to the gun might be an option if you don't mind it being that way...Good luck fellas but don't take it lightly!
Any help or advice on how to install the wooden grips? I don’t have any tabs at the top of mine for them to slot into the frame. And how much wood do you need to remove? And what tools would you recommend, just sand paper and a file? (Any photos of what the inside of the grips look like to give a rough idea would be much appreciated!) Also when I removed the grips, to check the frame and such, when reinstalling the screws I don’t know how as this hasn’t happened before but I managed to cross thread and the screws no longer sit flush. I donno wether to try and find other screws like them that are self tapping to use. Also I’ve heard of people using bluing pens to cover up the markings? They are pretty bright. Also of people say the paint KWC uses is crap (the 1911s I’ve seen have chipped easy.) Would love a blued version! Or a parkerised one.
My toggle system has jammed in the open position..... I have hardly used the gun since i got, it is oiled and has been operating ok. Its brand new!!! Taking it back tomorrow!! Any suggestions my friend??
daniel brejndahl As far as I know you can use them, although manufacturers recommend not to use them. You'll certainly have no ricochets and might even get better accuracy. Just remember to clean more often.
Interstellar Lapis & the CCCP Authentic grips wouldn't fit as they come. You have to remove some of the material on the inside surface in order for them to fit flush. This is due to the extra room needed to house the CO2 cartridge in the magazine.
makes sense. I could probably cut out some rudimentary grips from wood and sand them down but I doubt I'd be able to get the same finish as a real grip. Probably best to get real ones and make adjustments.
Excellent review and beautiful pistol. Luger is my dream pistol, this is a nice inexpensive way to get one. Wood grips and weathering really make it look nice. Did you just rub the gun with steel wool to weather it?
That Shooting Guy The finish is Jet Black, not particularly realistic. Yes you can get it to look more metallic by rubbing it down with iron wool to start revealing bare metal. If your brave enough, you could take it completely down to the bare metal which would tarnish over time, and should provide a Gun Metal finish. But I'm not entirely sure how it would come out.
UK_ Airgunner ok thanks. In person, when weathered and with wood grips, does it look realistic? Also, can you send me a link to where you got the wood grips for yours please because I really like the wood on them, beautiful!
That Shooting Guy Here's a link to some grips on eBay: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F121396531258 And to answer your question, yes it does look and feel very realistic once weathered.
Hi, great video! Two questions please: 1. Which one you think is better: this KWC or Umarex P08 Blowback? I have heard that Umarex one has more fps. 2. What is needed to be done to make real wood grips fit? Is it lots of work?
Hi Morris Zachrisson , 1. The Umarex P.08 is made by KWC and distributed by Umarex and has more white writing on it; they're the same gun. That is why I went for the KWC one. Make sure you don't get the old Umarex P.08 which is non-blowback. 2. When you get the wood grips, they wouldn't sit flush, so you have to use a dremel tool to remove some of the material on the inside surface of the grips where the frame has been enlarged to accommodate the CO2 cartridge. Its a bit of work, but its worth it! Hope this is helpful!
Thank you for your answer. Two moments. 1. Umarex P08 has 2 variants. And I mean the blowback one. One for US and one for Europe. The US one has those ugly warnig markings on the right side and white P08 on the left side. But the one for Europe has only white marking P08 on the left side and nothing on the right sight, while the KWC one has KWC made in Taiwan and on the left side .177 F or something. So the Europe Umarex has less markings. 2. So this replica grips does not have any outgrowths to be clicked into the frame? And I do not need to make these outgrowths on the wood ones? Thank you.
scream2749 Thanks! I've probably only put between 1 & 2 thousand through this one. Some parts are already showing heavy wear. Ten thousand is quite an achievement! Has anything worn out on your 1911, or close to wearing out?
UK_ Airgunner nothing's wearing out on it yet, the trigger return spring acts up if it's not cleaned after a couple hundred rounds, just got the umarex lgegends P08 luger today and i can't wait to put rounds down range with it!
Anyone found this KWC Luger to go into FULL AUTO mode suddenly, even though it was sold as a semi-automatic pistol, requiring a trigger pull for every shot? Thank you.
I have the KWC 1911 and this KWC P08 luger, the Gun is okay... what i don't like is the coating and the color. It's not the color and the finish of the original luger. While the 1911's finish is really close to the original 1911A1 especially when it's weathered. I just don't understand. It's been made by the same company. I mean the broom handle's finish is also close to the real steel version of it. Why is the luger's finish different.
Mr. Bread , thanks for your comment. It's a good point, the original was more of a silvery grey, as you say. I don't know why KWC decided to paint it black. I have tried rubbing down the whole thing gently with iron wool, which reduces the intensity of the black and gives a more grey finish. Coupled with the bare metal edges gives it a more realistic appearance.
Dunno if you still have the problem, but make sure there are bbs in the gun cause if not it won’t prime properly, and try pulling back the priming mechanism all the way, and make sure no bbs are stuck on it
Mine is a year old but hardly used and properly looked after and maintained, yesterday the toggle system jammed solid in the open position..... it will not budge!! The gun regardless of the time that i have had is brand new. The thing is going back to the gun shop.
I have a Gletcher P08 Luger and a Parabellum field stripable version, Can't actually say how they shoot as i've never gassed them up!, Darned neighbours phone the cops when I get my guns out and the chopper hovers over my house! 😕
Cynical Cyrado™ Original grips wouldn't fit as they come. You have to remove some of the material on the inside surface in order for them to fit flush. This is due to the extra room needed to house the CO2 cartridge in the magazine.
I want to buy one of these; is the gun made fully of steel? I plan to blue it, but as I have discovered with other similar guns it's very difficult to get a proper coat applied unless you strip everything down then heat it up with a blowtorch. Are there any little parts on there made of metals which might melt under the torch (like Zinc, for example)? Also, I don't know if you've ever held a real Luger before, but does it have a good weight and sturdiness to it? (should be around 2 pounds)
Sax and Phone It’s weighs about 1.84 pounds, which is a little less than a real one, but not by much. I’m afraid the phrase I used, “real steel” was a slip of the tongue (watching too many Hickok45 videos!). It’s not steel, but some sort of alloy, not sure what’s in it. Most of the components are pretty sturdy, one thing to check is the barrel which can be a little loose. Hope this helps!
I know that the gun isn't made of gun quality steel; typically airsoft guns are made of a variety of scraps melted down into what is commonly referred to as 'pot metal'. I just want to be sure that it's not made of Zinc or Nickel so that it doesn't melt under a blowtorch.
@@saxandphone6440 Very likely to be zinc alloy like Zamak. Almost none of these things are made from steel. Gun blue made for steel has no effect, aluminium black works on them.
@@robl1927 hmm, thanks. I have a few real pistols so I used the birchwood casey's gun blue on some airsoft and replica guns as well. The first coat went on but it had a matte look to it and came off completely when I tried to polish with steel wool. I guess aluminum black would be a better option.
Guy 786 I got this P.08 from an Airgun and Airsoft shop in Crawley, near Gatwick airport, called The Surplus Store: www.surplusstore.co.uk They have a huge range of products for sale, worth checking out.
Hank the Hog It's not possible to load this airgun with pellets, they would simply jam in the magazine. The only theoretical way to shoot pellets, would be to load one directly into the barrel, but I would not recommend this. Besides, with a smooth bore barrel, there would be no accuracy benefits.
Really nice video there man, I love these full in-depth gun reviews and adding the field strip was just class, nice one and a thumbs up from me. ;-)
Thanks, that means a lot!
I have a real luger from WW2 inherited, I really want this in .177 4.5mm gonna buy it soon 😊
OMG! I'm getting one (Airsoft) and i planned to weather it and give it wood grips! Makes it look WAY better no doubt...
Really good video well clear to understand..... i have got one of these and i love it. Nice work my friend.... keep it up!! 👍😊

is it posible to use lead bullets in the pistol? if not way not.? thanks allot 😁😎

Nice vids but i always have to put my vol up to max. can you get a better mic?
How did you weather it
Mine is messed up. I have a rubber band stuck in one place which got lodged there after shooting and I have no idea where it came from
What is the silver line on the side of the gun
I'm gonna have to get one of these airguns BTW how much is it about?? And were can I get a good deal??
so you can upgrade the hop up and rubbers? how has it lasted?
What did you use to weather it

Brayden Bradbury Yes, it shoots the 4.5mm Steel BBs. It's doesn't shoot the 6mm plastic BBs.

thanks
What is the cost?
They're online at about £140, I picked mine up for £120. The wooden grips were about £10.
Thanks mate, it looks so cool
Brown grips means civilian grade black grips means military grade and black on black makes the black widow
Audio is way to low and hard to hear, nice video just the same.
