    This has happened to one of my candles as well. But...... I just put the entire broken candle in a bag. Hit the jar with a wooden spoon, and broke the remaining glass. Took the candle out with an oven mit. Rinced it off. I then put the candle on a plate.

      This is just superb, I've been looking for "what supplies are needed for candle making?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Panlijah Inconceivable Position - (do a search on google ) ? It is a smashing one off product for discovering how to become a candle making master and turn a profit without the hard work. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my partner got cool success with it.

      Mines was delivered smashed...but i smashed all glass to get it out...so im left with just the candle no glass...How can i get that into another yankee candle with glass...putting it on a plate would that destroy the yankee... I just wish i saw this before i smashed the glass around it

      @@lisayoung9750 You could carve the candle down to fit in the new jar, then pour melted wax round it to fill. Less fiddle with the wick like that.

    I worked for Yankee in the US for more than five years...1) If you have an nearly empty jar, refrigerator/freeze it for about 15 minutes and you can get that last inch of candle out more easily so it can be refilled. Use the wax you remove as tarts; 2) please be careful with re-using empty jars--they're really only designed to be used once and are not tempered glass. Keep an eye on any candle rescued this way b/c it *may* (not guaranteed) shatter upon reheating; 3) never fill the candle up to the top, stop at where the jar begins to curve in; 4) the warehouse folks are not particularly happy right now because the company has been taken over several times so they sometimes don't care very much about packing well.

    I had a Candle arrive last week cracked & smashed on the jar. In the end I just wrapped the candle in a tote bag & lighty tapped the candle with a small hammer. Took the candle out, cleaned the candle and put the candle in to a new jar!! I did get a replacement Candle too.

    I received The White Company candle in my favourite scent (wild rhubarb) as a gift but it arrived broken. I wanted to do this but the glass was broken too far down so I broke the rest of the glass off using two teaspoons whilst it was still in the original box. I used kitchen tongs to take it out and held the candle over a pyrex jug whilst I poured kettle boiled water over it (in order to remove any little glass particles and rinse it). This melted/ rinsed the candle for about 10secs but I guess in doing so the wax poured over the wick so that when I transferred it to a recycled jar (of the same size and brand so that it fitted perfectly), the wick couldn't set alight. I used a blowdryer to soften the wick for about 45secs and then lit the candle for the first time. Good as new & I didn't have to handle hot wax or buy wicks etc.

    Who has time for this Fraf, not only is there a 50% chance the glass will shatter in boiling water, causing even more of a mess for yourself.
    just wrap it up in cloth, smash it with hammer gently, take huge complete wax out, and chunk it up and put it into a melt warmer or burner.
    Stronger scent, lasts longer, throw broken glass away, no Fraf.

    • @PickThePixie
      @PickThePixie 3 роки тому

      The glass shouldn’t crack, when the wax is originally poured in the jar it’s about 180 so it should be okay

    • @halloweenville1
      @halloweenville1 3 роки тому +1

      @@PickThePixie Glass expands and becomes weaker during heating process, it's never a good idea to stick any thin glass into boiling water before or after burning a candle, Glass jars are at their optimum strength when wax is poured in, but once wax is burning and glass has cooled it is less durable, so would crack more easy. not worth the fraf in my opinion.

    Putting the entire jar in a plastic bag and hitting it slightly will release the wax and then melting the entire wax and adding it to other jars evenly. Also adding the wick to just the right size and holding it down with chop sticks or other utensil will releave you from holding it for a long period.

    I just lined the bottom of the kitchen sink with aluminum foil, put the candle on top of it, and then hit it a few times with a hammer (wearing protective goggles). The large pieces of glass fell off from all around the candle. I then put gloves on and rinsed it off to remove the smaller pieces. It took less than 5 minutes to do.

  • @robse3799
    @robse3799 4 роки тому +1

    The best way is to first carefully break the glass (with gloves and a hammer) and clean the wax and remove splinters with a brush, then scrape off the wax with a sharp knife all the way around the wick and collect the wax - until the remaining block fits into the opening of a large houswarmer. Place it in the middle and then liquefy the scraped off wax (in a water bath bain-marie) and pour it into the glass!

    An even better way to do it, as to not loose scent in the melt down of the original candle is to put a towel over the glass and hit it with a hammer a few times lightly, throw on some working gloves, carefully remove the glass, make sure all glass is off... I usually wipe it down with a rag...then you'll have a big candle, usually you'll loose the wick bc its glued pretty good to the glass... But, what I do is take a screw driver, put it on the candle and hit the top of the screw driver w a hammer to break up the candle. Then, put those pieces into an electric wax warmer. Or, use an old knife and cut up the candle into pieces and again throw the pieces into a wax warmer. I usually have a lot of pieces and crumbs by the time I'm done (I cut it up on a tray or mat of some sort). You can even get a wax warmer at the Dollar Tree (not electric, the ones that you use a tea light to warm the wax on top), so you don't have to buy anything extra. I have a couple electric wax warmer pot of various sizes going 24/7 and will even find people that sell off their broken candles cheap, saves me money and my house always smells good!
