I’ve done this with lots of candles, but I never thought of putting the boiling water INSIDE the candle!!! Love that idea!!! One year I took all the empty Yankee Candle jars from work and cleaned them out and filled them with each person’s fave candy. Then on the outside I etched each person’s name and the word Treats under their name! So it would be “Jim’s Treats”, then I decorated each jar with ribbon and a tag. I save the wax too, it’s really great in the warmers! TFS this was a great video!

Finding new ways to use things (especially things you get as a gift) is just one of the benefits of growing up poor. You can even save the lid so you can cover your drink if you take it with you somewhere.

I do the same for my candles! I have a wax warmer and use the extra candle wax and just burn that! I work at BBW and I’ve learned it won’t burn all the way down as it can be a fire hazard. The wick will go out close to the bottom incase you forget to blow it out :) Nice video!
I use my old bath and body works candle jars to hold my makeup brushes and to add more color I use the candle holders around the clear jars to go with the theme of the holidays. I have a pumpkin one for fall and I have a pineapple one I keep year round.
i work at yankee candle. if you don’t want all that black soot around the top of the candle, you should definitely get yourself a wick trimmer. you’re supposed to trim the wicks before every burn, so that you’ll have a cleaner burn and the wax won’t pool in the middle. (i’m not telling you or anyone what to do so no one come after me please)
When re-purposing the wax as melts it helps to add a few drops of essential oil matching the fragrance of the wax. Scented candles invariably aren't highly fragrant unless you pay top dollar for them, so by the time one has melted down to the last inch or so in the container the fragrance will have diminished markedly. Adding the essential oil rejuvenates the wax's original fragrance.
WOW! I've been removing the candle wax all wrong. I am definitely going to use this method the next time especially on those Dollar Tree candles. Thank you.
Thank you so much I am about to try this!!!! It’s definitely a life saver I always think the jars are the cutest thing ever but I always end up throwing them away because I don’t know how to remove the candle wax but now I do thanks to you !!!
Hey just a tip, place the candles right on your wax warmer and the wax will melt , and then dump it into the wax warmer. Then you can do the boiling water to get the remainder of wax out. I also have created a Frankenstein candle by using an old glass candle jar, cleaning it out , adding a new wick (from a craft store ) and then I dump layer by layer of left over melted candle wax in. I ended up with 20 wax layers.
Iv started to like candles I started a hobby, Making candles. and this, i can reuse the wax, and can easily obtain wax, after i burn my candles to the bottom This is awesome! thank you!
Holy crap, thanks for this hot water method! I just spent too much time today melting each candle by mini crock pot because I didn't want to stand over the stove. THAAAAAAANKS.
I store condiments in the smaller ones. It keeps them fresh and does not get the plastic smell. My kitchen is full of them. I also learned how to make my own candles, you can buy lots of wax, wicks and scents for the price of two yankee candles. So i reuse the glass containers.
Oof I just used a butter knife to wedge out the wax. Didn't think to save it for the scentsy though! I reused an old BBW 3 wick by putting these little tealight candles inside it. The previous label had this sparkly glitter design and the little candles inside when lit make a pretty glitter pattern around the room :o
If you're having trouble getting the labels/label glue off, you can use canola oil (like, the type you use for cooking) to help dissolve it. Just dab some on an old toothbrush and work it over the label. Give it a little bit of time and *presto* - label comes right off. The amount of time depends on the label/type of glue - and you're for sure going to wash the excess canola oil off after. 🙂

Awesome idea thanks will never throw away a candle without getting waxout again
Jody Suire me either!
Me: *not being that interested in the video*
Me at 1:22: "I have the same pot!!"
Great idea Michelle, love your nerdy lava lamps! ❣
Thank you so much !
I thought to myself, it looks like a lava lamp... and then you said it. LOL
Iv started to like candles
I started a hobby, Making candles.
and this, i can reuse the wax, and can easily obtain wax, after i burn my candles to the bottom
This is awesome! thank you!
I will try this, thanks. I would use a flat head screw driver instead of a kitchen knife.
YES I should have LOL
Oh fuck off
Kerry Thompson Why did you write that? Not very respectful.
I have done this years ago. It is great to see you doing this. I also am going to use these in my sewing room to hold other sewing items.
I take the wax pieces and put them in my wax burner. Reduce, reuse, recycle!
so I tried this yesterday and OMG it legit worked!! I am so happy!!!
Yay !!! This makes me so happy ! Be sure to share this video with a friend :)
just put them in the freezer it will pop right out and clean
Right? And there is no chance of exploding your glass with boiling water...
Amanda Reed without the boiling water haha
I was thinking the same thing
For how lomg
Long
I've never seen anyone use that hot water trick. That's awesome. Thank you.
Just tried it.... pretty simple!!
Awesome ! What are you going to do with the empty candle jar ?
Michelle Marino not sure yet
What kinda oil you used an how much?
Holy crap, thanks for this hot water method! I just spent too much time today melting each candle by mini crock pot because I didn't want to stand over the stove. THAAAAAAANKS.
Just did it and OMG! So awesome!! ❤️And no broken jars 💪🏼
Yeayah !!! isnt it fun to watch melt ?? What are you going to use the empty jars for ?
I store condiments in the smaller ones. It keeps them fresh and does not get the plastic smell. My kitchen is full of them. I also learned how to make my own candles, you can buy lots of wax, wicks and scents for the price of two yankee candles. So i reuse the glass containers.
Why did I think it said “Stop washing ur favorite candy”
Jhope Is my hope omg same loll
So Jhope uh
I um kinda read it like that too-
if you put the jars in a shallow pan of water and heated it, you can use a skewer to remove the wax when it melts the edges and bottoms.
Ommmmmgggggg how cool is the idea to melt them with water, I didn't know the candle would rise above water 😍😍😍😍
Omg I wasted so much candles with thissssss thank god I found this video
If you're having trouble getting the labels/label glue off, you can use canola oil (like, the type you use for cooking) to help dissolve it. Just dab some on an old toothbrush and work it over the label. Give it a little bit of time and *presto* - label comes right off.
The amount of time depends on the label/type of glue - and you're for sure going to wash the excess canola oil off after. 🙂
