You have, by far, the best and easiest ways to get candle wax out. So simple, so quick, and no messes. Thank you so much for this. I love how you were right to the point without some long winded and long drawn out video.
Brilliant! I used the freezer method and left it in overnight. I did not even have to use a knife the half filled jar of wax just fell out. Thank you for the tip
The best way I've found is to put your oven on the lowest setting and turn the candle jars upside down on a cookie sheet covered with tinfoil. Leave them in until the was melts and then wipe with a paper towel before washing.
Linda Stent-Campbell I do this too, but I leave the jars upright. I pour the extra wax into a tart mold to use for my warmer, if there is enough wax. If there is not enuf wax, I dump it into an empty aluminum can. Then I wipe the jar out with a paper towel.
That's why im here, looking for ideas. Cause i wanna repurpose the jars so it doesn't go to waste but i don't wanna waste perfectly good candle wax either.
Stacee Jones ..Oh you have no idea of what you just did. I forgot that I even had one. Will try to warm all my wax together and see what kind of unique smell i can come up with 😃. Thanks Thank you
I'm a licensed massage therapist & I go through candles like crazy. I throw out wax that's still good because there's no wick. So I'm gonna use the first method to harvest the wax & make more candles. Thank you!
Thanks for this “to the point” video. I warm a large pan of water, let it gentle simmer, then put the containers in it. Within about half hour the wax has melted, if there’s enough was left over I use a strainer to get rid of the bits, the. Incorporate it into my new candle.
Brilliant! I used the freeze method. The vase I used was half full of wax because the candle had leaked. Put it into the freezer overnight and it fell out like magic. I did not even have to chip it. brilliant thank you.
I’ve been trying to get wax off my candle jar for months and I just couldn’t figure it out. Decided to check UA-cam tonight and your video came up first so I immediately tried the hot water method and viola! It really worked! The wax just rose up and I didn’t even had to wait for hours or overnight. It worked in just about 20 mins 😃 Thank you very much! Much appreciated. 🙏🏽🤗
Shara Zahir people are acting like she gave a miracle cure I saw plenty of other people give tips I wouldn’t put glass candle in the freezer it could crack it’s simple to use the boiling water method
Thank you so much! Someone had gifted me a three wick candle in a beautiful ceramic jar and now that I’ve removed the leftover wax I can use it to store my stash of little perfume samples or something else.
Method #4: First, use a knife to pry the candle and any chunks of wax out of the jar. Scrape away excess wax, and remove the wick collar (the metal end of the wick). When the jar is relatively clean, put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds, then wipe away any melted wax with a paper towel.
I placed my nearly empty jars on the hot plate of my coffee brewer. It worked like a charm!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I didn’t have to go out and buy a mug warmer. 👍🏼 I still added almost boiling water to get rid of the bits towards the top. They are still soaking as I type this. Thanks for sharing your tips. 🙏🏼😊
Very straightforward, just looking at the comments I had no idea there were so many methods. Additionally, it is so satisfying to do the first method and gradually see the wax bubble up to the top. Thank you so much! I cannot wait to repurpose my candle jars for storage and DIY projects
This was great! I reuse almost all my candle jars because I usually get them for the vessel as much as I do the candle scent. I've been doing the coffee warmer method (I own 4... I have a problem). I usually pour the melted wax into another candle that has a related scent, but the wax on the sides of the jar is usually tough to melt on the warmer. Boiling water: of course! And so easy to just pick out the floating wax after it's cooled. THANK YOU for these ideas!
It's been 10yrs since this video was made I believe. The 1st method I'm trying now in 2024. Seems easy, straightforward and better than throwing away the candles I like. Amazon Walmart etc sells the wicks.
THANK YOU!!! I tried the freezer method with my candle that stopped burning and there was quite a bit left of it, and it was quick and painless. Hadn't thought of freezing them before.
The boiling water method worked so easily! Thank you!! I speeded it up by putting it into the fridge once I could tell all the oily wax had gone to the top. Very cool, thanks again!!
These tips are very good. I would add that after getting the wax out, take a paper towel and wipe out the candle holder then wash it with soap and warm water. Thank you for your tips. And keep up the good work!
You can also melt all your candles and pour the wax into one jar, add a new Wix and you've got a new candle. Keep adding your future candle bits and recycle or reuse jars.
The method I use is putting the candle glass in boiling water and the wax will melt. I've shared it on my channel. But I've never tried putting it in the freezer!! I'll definitely give that a go, thank you! :)
I was finding a way to empty out my candle jars for a while now, the freezer technique worked VERY WELL! I think I kept it for a week almost. Thank you!
I am so glad I stumbled on your page, because I had no idea what to do after the freezer, that chipping away took forever! But the hot water was super quick and easy!!
i love the first method, thank you so much it was ssuper helpful and there was no need to leave i tfor even 10 minutes , the candle flosted to the top. tysm ! super helpful!!
OMGoddess!!! I was at my wits end wanting information on how to remove wax from my microwave plate, I'm going to use what I learn here and see if that would rescue my microwave plate. Thank you for your clear to the point direction.
The first way seems the easiest, I'm going to test it out on several of the same red eye bar candles. I'll give you a follow up of the results. Thank you for the "how to do it" video.
To let you know I'm serious about this, no video will be shown: I've put my water into a simple coffee pot and will be waiting for it to brew for the "Boiled Water" way, or Number One method described in your video. The candles are now in the "generic coffee pot water". I've 10 of them... their rose red bar light candles, the small ones. I'll let your audience know of my results. 1. The Hot Water worked. 2. Be sure that after your done with the first phase, to use a spoon. use the handle to cut the wax and the spoon to take it out of what ever style of glass your using. Repeat Step one. Advice: Use a baking sheet, it holds the hot water the best and use either paper towels or an oven mitt to carry your "objects". 3 . After step/stage 2, immediately WASH your "objects" to make sure that the tiny candle rope foundations are cleaned from the "object" itself. Wash the baking sheet and thoroughly rinse it wish HOT WATER. As well, thoroughly clean your si9nk. RUN HOT WATER THROUGH IT FOR A GOOD 10 MINUTES.. Your dealing with WAX here people, this last part is COMMON SENSE... clean the actual area, per hygiene. Repeat steps 1-3 if further cleaning is required. Not every wash is perfect. Use a towel, or wash cloth to get most of the residue off. If your satisfied with the result, continue on to 4. 4. Place your "object" upside down, giving it a good dry and an extra time to make sure what ever is left makes its way either to the top, or out. Do this on the baking sheet. It saves on more cleanup time, space and energy,. Repeat steps 1-4 if required, by your choice. Never can tell...
some of bath and body works candle jars are really cute. I just hate to throw them away, especially the spring ones that are floral! I clean them out and stuff some fake flowers in or just use them to hold q-tips, hair ties, brushes, etc.
Thank you. I Just Poured some hot water in and all the wax came on the top in less than 5mins👍. When I think I was about to put these beautiful jars in the recycle bin 🙄.
If you add some dishwashing liquid. Dawn is best, to the boiling water method it will break down the oil and help stop it sticking on the sides. I used to microwave my candles to get the wax out until I got one that had a metal wick thing. Apparently I’d gotten super lucky all those times before.
smart 👍thank you. I was looking for a way to remove the wax without using the microwave because some jars have this reflective golden or silver plating that cannot be placed in the microwave.
I kinda use the last method, but without the freezer input. Once I've gotten all the wax out, using a metal skewer, I save it in a plastic tub to recycle later, and throw out the metal base of the candle. Then I rinse the candle container under the hot water tap, wipe them with a paper towel, and pop the candle containers into the dishwasher.
will be trying the freezer method I have some candles I don't even use and I bought a little aloe vera plant yesterday with no pot and it needs a home. lol thanks for the tips!
Thank you so much for these tips - I would be worried that the boiling water would crack the glass on tip #1 - I’ll give it a try anyway - love your accent and clarity - greetings from the South Coast of England U.K. 🇬🇧
Do not use boiling water on a glass candle to remove the wax! I literally JUST TRIED THIS and my glass candle shattered all over the top of the stove. Some glasses may work but the, Better Homes And Garden glass candles don't do well with the hot water method. Just a heads up. I'll try the freezer hack maybe on the next 1.
Your video is awesome! I saw another girl with tips on using candle and advice on cleaning the jar. While the tips are great, she dumped the wax into the sink, which did not look right.
Any tips for removing wax from a full candle that's never been used? I bought them to turn into succulent pots since they are not in season where I live. Once cleaned I'll drill a drainage hole. Thanks!
Thanks so much for these tips, sis 🙌🏾! The folks at the recycling place also recommended the "freeze & chip" method, but it didn't work for me (maybe bc our glasses are so tall 🤷🏾♀️). I'll tell them about the boiling water method when I go back 😇
No need to chip away after freezing.. you can turn the holder upside down. tap a few times and the candle will fall out.. used to do this all the time after weddings.
Thanks so much for this. I boiled water in my tea kettle and poured it in. Sure enough, most wax came to the top. Broke it off and then what was left in the bottom just feel out when I tipped the glass over. Thanks for such an easy solution! You're awesome!
I’ve done all of these and usually they work super well. However I got a few candles from both Trader Joe’s and IKEA, lately I’ve noticed these methods don’t work at all! What does anyone think changed? Trying to solve this now. It’s been 2 days! Keep all posted
The hot water is best. When most of it solidifies, I put it on hot water again but this time I put it all the way at the top. It becomes much easier to scrub then down that way. I buy the ones that look like drinking glasses so I get free kitchenware. 😌
Great tips! Thank you so much for sharing this! Just like other people on the comment section, it looks like I wasn't the only one who was throwing away beautiful glass jars thinking it would have been nice to be able to reuse the heavy duty jar. Lol Fantastic information and very easy, thanks!!
You have, by far, the best and easiest ways to get candle wax out. So simple, so quick, and no messes. Thank you so much for this. I love how you were right to the point without some long winded and long drawn out video.
what great ideas! I have thrown away so many beautiful jars because I couldn't remove the wax…thanks so much!!!
Got did the warm water one look great!
Brilliant! I used the freezer method and left it in overnight. I did not even have to use a knife the half filled jar of wax just fell out. Thank you for the tip
The best way I've found is to put your oven on the lowest setting and turn the candle jars upside down on a cookie sheet covered with tinfoil. Leave them in until the was melts and then wipe with a paper towel before washing.
how long and what temperature would you do this at?
She said, on the *lowest* setting!
Linda Stent-Campbell I do this too, but I leave the jars upright. I pour the extra wax into a tart mold to use for my warmer, if there is enough wax. If there is not enuf wax, I dump it into an empty aluminum can. Then I wipe the jar out with a paper towel.
Lauren Piantino the lowest setting will be different temperatures on different ovens though. The lady asked which temperature.
For me, hot water method worked the best. You don’t even need to wait for hours. The wax just rose to the surface of the water instantly!
and you can reuse the left over candle wax by placing it in a candle warmer
That's why im here, looking for ideas. Cause i wanna repurpose the jars so it doesn't go to waste but i don't wanna waste perfectly good candle wax either.
Stacee Jones ..Oh you have no idea of what you just did. I forgot that I even had one. Will try to warm all my wax together and see what kind of unique smell i can come up with 😃. Thanks
Thank you
That’s what I’m doing, I am going to shape leftover wax into melts for my mom’s candle warmer for Christmas!
Thanks! I have so many candle jars and this video helped a ton
I'm a licensed massage therapist & I go through candles like crazy. I throw out wax that's still good because there's no wick. So I'm gonna use the first method to harvest the wax & make more candles. Thank you!
The first one is all we needed to do the trick: Simple, cheap and easy.
Variety man
The best instructional video I’ve seen! To the point, brief, informative and simple!! Love this DIY tip!
Thanks for this “to the point” video.
I warm a large pan of water, let it gentle simmer, then put the containers in it. Within about half hour the wax has melted, if there’s enough was left over I use a strainer to get rid of the bits, the. Incorporate it into my new candle.

That is the best!!!
Use Goo Be Gone for residual wax, cleans off easily.
@@kellymcfalls1458 sooo why’d you come to watch her do it in yet another video of someone doing the same method 🤔
Thank you so much! Someone had gifted me a three wick candle in a beautiful ceramic jar and now that I’ve removed the leftover wax I can use it to store my stash of little perfume samples or something else.
Wow the boiling water and leaving it worked so well. I didn’t have to scrub or scrape it at all. Thank you so much!!
Thanks! The first method seems the better IMO!
Depends on the jar glass.. I’ve done that to one that broke into pieces straight away
Me too. First method worked the best!
Vinyl Dollz yes! Doesn’t take 2-3 hours 🙄🙄
How to remove the glued wicks?
Thank youuu this worlee greattt
Worked
The microwave method is also a really good one. I'm also glad you mentioned to remove the wick collar! Yup, i did it wrong once.
Incredibly helpful, short & sweet video straight to the point, love that there are 3 methods, thank you
Thank you! I've been making a waxy mess trying to just dig the wax out of an old candle!!! Appreciate it so much!
Very straightforward, just looking at the comments I had no idea there were so many methods. Additionally, it is so satisfying to do the first method and gradually see the wax bubble up to the top. Thank you so much! I cannot wait to repurpose my candle jars for storage and DIY projects

I can't believe it was this easy. The first one worked like magic
Cesar S, Kowalski same! It’s just so simple. I’m like, why couldn’t I think of this earlier!
I’m so scared I’ll break the candle holder :c cause mine is not made out of the same material
Thank you! very helpful! I have some pretty expensive candles that come in nice jars that would make perfect old fashioned glasses!
Thank you! Your tutorial video was so clear and easy to follow unlike any of the blog articles I read.
Omg. Yes. Yes. Yes. The most easiest, simplest, best way to remove the wax. Thank you so much for posting.
My favourite is the freezer method! I leave my BBW 3-wick candle inside the freezer for an hr and I could easily remove the wax
The hot water method is perfect- so fuss free and no mess created.
Thank you!! I have so many old candle jars I want to reuse but didn't know how to get to old wax out.
Thanks for the tips! I found rubbing alcohol works to get rid of those stubborn residue. Good luck everyone! 😊
Wow! It seemed like it would be complicated, but you made it easy. Thank you.
Never would have thought of boiling water. Thanks chica!
I agree. The first method seems the most efficient and least work. Im totally trying it. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips. I will definitely give a try. Appreciate the sharing!
These tips are very good. I would add that after getting the wax out, take a paper towel and wipe out the candle holder then wash it with soap and warm water. Thank you for your tips. And keep up the good work!
The hot water method is a lifesaver!! Thank you!
You can also melt all your candles and pour the wax into one jar, add a new Wix and you've got a new candle. Keep adding your future candle bits and recycle or reuse jars.
THANK YOU! this was so easy and quick to watch and now i have great pretty jars for bits and bobs :)

These are such a useful istructions, and easy to understand even if English is not your mother tongue. 😀 Thank you so much!
I’ve been wondering how I remove the wax. I’be just tried the first method and it worked! Thank you.
*You definitely disproved the half inch rule when burning down the candle wax. Clearly they will not break if you do so!👍🏻*
You just helped save my mother’s necklace
The first way is perfect it’s so simple to do as well. Thank you!
Great tips. The first one works like a charm!
Excited to give my jars a second life! Thanks girl!
Boiling water did the trick in no time. Didnt even need to really wait that long. Thanks for the help
Could not remember how to do this!!! Thank you for the video!!
Thank you for makikng this! Your 3 methods were clear and easy to follow.
Helpful video. Thankyou. I've been chucking out these beautiful little jars for years not knowing how to get the damn candle wax out!
I am going to try at least two method and let you know. Thanks for the tip
Thank you so much! I tried the third method but I didn't freeze it, instead, I used cold water for 10 minutes approximately 👍
wow the kettle trick really works wonders
i love the first method, thank you so much it was ssuper helpful and there was no need to leave i tfor even 10 minutes , the candle flosted to the top. tysm ! super helpful!!

Thank you. I Just Poured some hot water in and all the wax came on the top in less than 5mins👍. When I think I was about to put these beautiful jars in the recycle bin 🙄.
If you have plain jar glasses, you can draw on them and make decorative tumbler glasses! That's what I'm planning to do.
I love the hot water trick.

Super handy, want to clean out all those nice candle jars we have from many candles and use them for my own or other goodies! Thank you!
I use the freezer method..Always works!
Excellent demonstration 👌 thank you 😊
Brilliant INYACO princess!! Thanks...I had a feeling I had to use hot water but you confirmed it. Now THIS is a contribution to society! LOL
I use a single serving small crock pot, candle jar fits perfectly down inside and melts slowly. Thanx for ur ideas
Thanks for the multiple options!
My pleasure!
smart 👍thank you. I was looking for a way to remove the wax without using the microwave because some jars have this reflective golden or silver plating that cannot be placed in the microwave.

Ty for sharing I have a lot of use candle jars
simple yet Genius! Thank you!!
Your video is awesome! I saw another girl with tips on using candle and advice on cleaning the jar. While the tips are great, she dumped the wax into the sink, which did not look right.
Thank you!!!! First method looks rocking! Will try
Any tips for removing wax from a full candle that's never been used? I bought them to turn into succulent pots since they are not in season where I live. Once cleaned I'll drill a drainage hole. Thanks!

I have a jar that’s not a perfect circle so it would take hours using other peoples methods, I love the hot water method
So awesome! Thank you for showing 3 options!! :-)
+ou1999 You're welcome and thanks for watching!
this video saved my life. I can finally organize my makeup and brushes. THANK YOU!!!
ana hamideh Did it really save your life? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It saved your life??? A bit overly dramatic there aren't you??? lol
If you melted the wax you could pour it into the scentsy wax melts holders n use them that way too
Wow thank you so much for those tips and tricks. I can save my candleholders instead of throwing them away!
Thank you so much for this!!! The boiling water works perfectly for me!!
Thanks for your time.
The first one was genius thooo! I'm tryin that OUT!!!
I’ve done all of these and usually they work super well. However I got a few candles from both Trader Joe’s and IKEA, lately I’ve noticed these methods don’t work at all! What does anyone think changed? Trying to solve this now. It’s been 2 days! Keep all posted
Great tutorial. Very Helpful. Thanks
Going to use the first method on six I've saved up! Thanks!

Great tips! Thank you so much for sharing this! Just like other people on the comment section, it looks like I wasn't the only one who was throwing away beautiful glass jars thinking it would have been nice to be able to reuse the heavy duty jar. Lol Fantastic information and very easy, thanks!!
