I don't know how many times I've watched this film, must be dozens, and it's the first time I've noticed that the barrels fall off a lorry from 'Cascade Drinks Ltd'... This masterpiece just keeps giving.
Agreed. Maybe one day, eh? Each movie was basically a spoof of a certain genre (Shaun of the Dead for horror, Hot Fuzz for police films, and The World's End for sci-fi) so they'd have to do something along those lines (maybe spoofing superhero films?)
Everyone rightfully mentions how funny and badass this shootout is…but can we focus on Danny’s monologue for a second? “Mum is dead, Dad. For the first time in my life…you know I’m glad….if she could see what you’ve become….I think she’d probably…kill herself all over again. 😢” That is GD heartbreaking! Like…holy f***! I mean that all as a compliment, this film pulls off these emotions so effectively.
Nick Frost is so underrated. The awe on his face when he sees Sgt. Angel riding in. It's everything Danny's ever dreamed of in policing and Frost kills it!
Him yelling Jesus Christ as if he's never said the name before in his life is absolutely hilarious and amazing. Might be the sharpest joke in the movie.
I don't get the impression that he found God by saying that? He wouldn't say Jesus Christ if he found God because it's taking the Lord's name in vain. Surely it's funny because it's incredibly ironic for a priest to exclaim "Jesus Christ!" and it's a complete "mask off" moment (that started with fuck off grasshopper) he's shown his true colours.
On moms account, Don't be to sure about that, I've heard somethings about hot fuzz, and that was that both Simon and nick were interviewed that if they were ever to make any sort of sequel movie of any kind, Ive heard that it's possible that HOT FUZZ could be the one to get the Sequel, So it could still happen!!!! I actually enjoy Hot Fuzz the most out of the whole trilogy, even more than Shaun of the Dead. The idea of having an American-style cop thriller shootout in a cozy little English village is absolutely brilliant.
Small detail, but I just noticed that the truck that spills all the kegs has "Cascade Drinks" on it's rear doors. A cascade is a large volume of liquid falling at one time. It's a really subtle joke and I love it.
I think this one was my favorite one out of the trilogy they were all pretty good but this one was the one 👌 Narp 🤣 and there is something you don't have a great big bushie beard
I wonder if Simon, Nick or the director watched The A-Team when they were kids. It was very popular in the UK and other places. The A-Team wanted to be on USA TV at 8 pm time slot. The more violent shows, I think, were 10 pm or later. The kids would be asleep by then. USA TV rules required that essentially no one could be killed in the 8 pm or earlier time slots. So The A-Team had shootings, cars and truck crashes and flipping, plane crashes but no on got hurt. The people in the crashes would even speak so you knew they were okay. Even in fights and things, the bad guys crawled away. It made the show even more camp and funny. This reminds me of The A-Team.
The best thing about this movie is how Angel tries to spend the whole time teaching Danny that being a cop is a serious job and not like the movies only to do this big fucking action scene and spout cheesy one liners
Couple of American tourists just decide to drive to the village and see this happening. They'd go home telling everyone it's a lie, the Brits are armed after all!
This movie, which is a parody of action movies, is unironically one of the best action movies I’ve seen
I think it a homage then parody since it clearly love action to make good action.
This happened with Galaxy Quest, which is such a perfect parody of Star Trek that it is widely considered to *be* an honorary Star Trek movie.
That's how you know it's a good parody
You have to wonder if they set out to make a homage to buddy cop movies and made the best one ever by accident
