I really despise the subscription fee for a game that feels almost the same every expansion release, I would only pay that if I was addicted already so they are kinda making me a favor,
I got a pc to play again... for this? For this?! Oh man, next time, im gonna watch more reviews first, then spend a lotta money.. oh well, live and learn.
@@Smokie1523 there are many other good games to play on PC. Grab a copy of Dark Souls 3 :). If you want a cool MMO to play I've had fun on Albion Online on and off.
Idk man I leveld a warlock to 50 (no shadow lands) and feel like I don't have much to do without the expansion. I guess this will be my one and only month of wow. Great video buddy.
I agree with most point and i pretty much only play for raids/dungeons, but i dont understand the subscription fee argument. 13€ a month is less than what you spend on a single dinner in a restaurant, cinema or pretty much any other hobby or form of entertainment. And it lasts you longer than those 1-2 hours. Let alone AAA SP games that cost 60€+ and are over after 8 hours. I can play wow for an entire year for the same cost instead. The only games that came anywhere close to the same € spent to hours played ratio are factorio and rimworld for me but thats due to their massive modding scene.
What I meant to say in the review was that the subscription model can be a tough sell these days, when there are so many free-to-play games and games under $5-10 that you can play with your friends online. It's a different market than it was in WoW's golden age. You sign on to Discord and just jump into whatever people are playing at the moment. I don't disagree with you at all that WoW is worth the price, though. You can get great value out of that subscription.
Subscription fee is outdated and has no place in an oversaturated market with tons of sales and cheap games. It's not just WoW vs 8h AAA SP games anymore, we have a lot of F2P games that offer as much hours as WoW and don't even require a subscription. We have constant sales on pages like Steam, Epic, Humble Bundle or GOG, that offer you a bunch of good games for 13€. We have a ton more fresh indie games that are constantly pumping creativity into the medium. And in my personal experience paying a subscription for a game feels bad, it feels like you're wasting your money when you don't have much motivation to play and you're constantly being reminded of your subscription expiration date, on top of that you need to pay for an expansion you can't play without a subscription. If Blizzard wants to keep up they'll eventually need to drop the subscription model or at least stop charging for the expansions, because the gaming market is not gonna stop growing anytime soon.
@@jacacent "If Blizzard wants to keep up they'll eventually need to drop the subscription model or at least stop charging for the expansions, because the gaming market is not gonna stop growing anytime soon." There is only one other MMO that is anywhere close to WoWs popularity and thats FF14. Both have subscriptions. Truth is, MMOs that dont have subs are either incredibly P2W, or severely limit "f2p" users and most game designs feel like they are only built on the idea to sell more premium services. Take a look at GW2. With its horizontal gearing process the entire endgame is about transmogs. Shop armor/weapons look just as good and often times even better than legendarys that take years or months to farm. They also keep pumping out new shop items every few weeks while there are barely any equivalent sets you can achieve with normal play. Same for swtor and its premium sub or TESO. Content updates are far in between and if you want to play the game seriously you will have to pay anyway.
@@r.gletscher5162 But with those two other sub optional you at least get rewards for subbing(LotRO as well). WoW just gives you access to play the game. They need an incentive to justify the price and saying you are paying for access to a butt ton of content is fine if you are a new person who has never played the older stuff. But as a vet who has rinse and repeated it all so many times that sub fee is less substantial. I like sub fees if there's an incentive but it def needs to be cheaper these days. Wow is quantity over quality now so 15 bucks is too much.
To save you the time, Yes Wow is worth playing..if you have friends to play with. Solo I’d be bored as hell. If it weren’t for dink and others to tag along I probably be on another game.
EverQuest Online Adventures was the best MMO i have ever played. WoW is the only other MMO to hold my attention beyond mere months. MMO's suck now lol. No innovation imo, it just kind of stagnated.
LOTRO is not dead. It has very much expanded adapted over the years but it is very old like wow and that is it's biggest weakness. No matter how many updates it has it still looks it's age especially in the older areas.
I started playing towards the end of BFA, which I loved. Shadowlands, on the other hands, just absolutely failed to capture my attention. I don't enjoy the zones and role at all.
"I wonder how he found out" fucking rekt my dad had coworkers who basically used WoW as a dating site they met their former spouse on WoW and one cheated with a mistress they found on WoW
Personally I liked the original scheme. Level 1-60 only in Azeroth, 61-70 Outland, 71-80 Northrend, etc.ON THE ORIGINAL LEVELING TIME FOR EACH EXPANSION, NO SHORTCUTS! WoW is a time sink, sooner or later, no matter how much level scaling Blizzard does with WoW, eventually it’s a time sink. For a new player who could easily skip over most expansions today, lost is the hard work developers put into each expansion, lost are the building blocks of the WoW mythos, etc. To me, being forced to trudge through each expansion built not only my appreciation for the game, but it built my game loyalty as well. When Blizzard changed all that, they lost out on so much. Not even the pandemic could bring me back to WoW…but you never know. I might subscribed for three months one of these days just to see how else Blizzard “improved” WoW.
There is absolutely no way I'm going to tell you that. If anyone else is reading this though, we play Alliance on Wyrmrest Accord (US) and the guild is called "Experience"
Also, FFXIV has never marketed itself as a "WoW Killer". YoshiP and crew have always done their own thing their way. FFXIV is more of a single-player JRPG experience first with the in-depth Main Story Questline focused around your character rather than WoW being a world with events going on and you just happen to be around to witness or be a minor part of.
