I heard a woman screaming one night when I was in my garage. I'd actually been sharpening some tools so grabbed my phone and my knife. Some guy was dragging this woman across her lawn and, unknown to me at the time, had already killed their pet. I yelled out, he looked up and realized it wasn't just me... But 2 other neighbors who had come to investigate. 2 of us armed and 1 already on the phone with police. I'll never understand how people can hear something like that and just ignore it.
Shout out to my fellow neighbors who backed me up ✊️ you guys some real ones
Edit: Wow 😳 this comment blew up. Thank you for the kind words y'all. I've been reading through the comments and the stories you guys have to share and im so sorry some of you had to go through similar abuse 😔 people can really suck sometimes. We gotta keep looking out for one another. Stay safe everyone 🙏 ❤️

I had a serious fall inside my house when i was by myself. I had injuries to my pelvis and legs and was in immense pain.
I yelled out help once then passed out
I know all this because i have camera's.
Within 2 minutes 3 of my neighbours were trying to get in and police and ambulance was called.
One neighbour jumped my 6 foot high fence and crawled through the doggy door and was by my side in 5 minutes time.
Amazing people. It happened to be the first time we all met properly. Now we are all great friends.

Wow! Can I move next door? Once I was walking my dog and realized 2 coyotes had split up an were coming from 2 directions. I screamed GET THE F@@K OUTTA HERE OVER AND OVER, saw an lit up enclosed porch and crossed the street to go to their door. When I looked back I couldn't see them but now I didn't know where they were 🥺 I live in a cop and firefighter neighborhood and not one person came out! Another time I kicked an uneven sidewalk, took a running fall and broke my thumb in 2 places, hit my forehead, lip and knees. (but I never let go of my phone or my dogs leash) 😳😕 Blood was flowing like crazy and I could have called 911 but I wanted to get Wiggy home. I left a trail of blood and made it home but once again no one heard or saw me or came out. Being alone sucks 🤷🏻‍♀️

Two times I called cops for a woman screaming from the direction of a house nearby, one time saying something like " no, please". Nothing came of either. Cops just didn't seem to know what to think of it or care. I won't call again unless I know it's really serious, because they just assume you're nuts or a problem caller yourself if it's not still happening. As if murders or abuse or whatever always takes longer than ten minutes. That might be why people don't call. Nobody actually treats it like "better safe than sorry".

I wouldn't call it that. Looking at it as if I was sitting there, the cops were trying to get him to confess. They didn't have concrete evidence she was dead or he killed her. So David didn't admit anything and didn't incriminate himself by agreeing to anything they said. It kinda reminds me of the move Law Abiding Citizen. Don't get me wrong, the dudes a piece of sh*t. But he was smart to not admit to anything or fall for what they were saying. Even though the cops were right, what was presented in the interrogation room didn't prove anything.

I called the police when i heard what sounded like a woman being murdered and someone laughing in between screams in the park behind my apartment complex. That park has a steep drop off that views the city and is a popular place for car dates. The police came and investigated and it turns out it was just some teens practicing their "horror movie screams" for tik tok. I have no regrets. The girls were fine. At the end of the day, if it feels wrong, just call.

It is the most unnerving thing to hear someone crying for help. Happened to me late one night when I was lying in bed reading. I could hear noises from the large vacant allotment next door and I thought people might be having a party. Then the words penetrated. I just heard, "Help me, help me," a couple of times. I phoned the police and they did come around, walked all around the allotment and streets, but didn't see anything. Still worries me, but I don't have any regrets either.

Called the police once in the middle of the night because I heard some guy screaming ‘help’ like he was in pain, several times (this was a very occupied apartment building btw so I KNOW the neighbors heard). I looked out the window and It was coming from a nearby field, so it felt off. After calling 911, I went to investigate with my ex and turns out it was just some drunk guy having a hard time getting up after presumably falling 😅 Still worth it.

All of these comments about neighbors coming to the rescue of screaming people reminds me of the time I got trapped in my backyard shed one Texas summer and screamed for help for 2 hours. Fearing I would die from the heat, I eventually managed to break a small window and climb out, seriously injuring myself in the process. Later when retelling the story to multiple neighbors, they all said they heard me and they had all been texting each other "do you hear that? Is someone outside yelling for help?", but not one of them came out of their house to investigate.

Women shouldn’t be police officers, too irrational, not physically capable, too much of a chip on their shoulder because they know they are already underachievers by virtue of them being women in a physical profession historically dominated by men (because they are better suited for the job) so they make up for that by over reacting and over exerting their power disproportionately. Women also naturally have a higher level of cortisol in the body because they are gifted the magic of the being the caretaker of the species and the choosing of genes that will be passed on which is an incredibly valuable thing. That, and them being naturally smaller and weaker on average, means they have a much higher level of the stress hormone cortisol which is BAD NEWS in high stress situations. We all love and adore women and femininity as men, we value them as partners and emotionally intelligent caretakers and home makers. They quite literally are integral to the human species. That said we can’t pretend we are the same, it used to be a man’s job, it should be a man’s job still, it’s safer that way for everyone involved. Men don’t have to be over protective of their female police partners, the female police officers won’t fuck things up and be physically, and emotionally incompetent on the job as they are disproportionately known to do, and the job of beat cop will get done a lot better. They can be officers that are detectives or behind the desk, but shouldn’t be in the field arresting reckless and dangerous individuals in high stress scenarios.

He was on his way home and was jumped and the 2 guys that ran away were trying to SA him. Called emergency services and Police and an ambulance came. You just count yourself lucky that it's not your home having the fight this time. Even if you do call you're more likely to get told to stop, and mind your own business. Depending on the area the police just do not care to follow through with domestic disturbances.

My sister came close to losing her life one night when she was beaten nearly to death by her ex boyfriend. She told me so many times she thought "someone is coming, someone must have heard me screaming they're comeing" but no one did. Because no one called the police. In the apartment there was broke furniture and blood everywhere which was shocking but what was really shocking was the broken sprinkler and rose bush pulled from the roots on the lawn. I asked her and she said at one point she made it outside and tried to run screaming for help but he caught her and dragged her inside so she grabbed whatever she could hold onto to stop him screaming at the top of her lungs. Then the complex issued an eviction notice because neighbors " heard the commotion and feared for their lives". But not enough to call the police and save my sister apparently. By the grace of God she survived and called me in the morning and we got her out of there and him arrested. But when I tell you walking through that felt like walking into a murder scene, I could see the splatter patterns on the walls and the blood on the objects he hit her with like something out of a movie, I'll never forget that feeling of almost losing my sister. And I will NEVER mind my own business again.

A man came to his door in a dressing gown, looked at me, and slammed the door in my face. Nobody called the police, nobody came to help the child screaming for help. The fact that the neighbor didn’t call police is absolutely unreal.
    *Edit*
I absolutely understand the argument from the other side about her not calling and I think it’s an interesting conversation. With that said, this seemed to be much more noise and prolonged screams than a simple question of wether it was some kids or not. I think in any case, even if doubt creeps in, you always fall on the side of being cautious and calling it in. Embarrassment about calling in something that turned out to be business as usual is better than someone possibly dead or injured.

I live in a huge apartment complex. A few months ago, at around 3:45 a.m., I heard someone yelling several times, "Help me." At first, I thought my husband had his computer too loud but realized he had the volume turned down. I realized it was a neighbor who lived 1/8 of a block away from our apartment building in the same complex. She was yelling for help for about 5 minutes before I ran over to help her. Not one of the many neighbors who could hear her in the middle of the night called for help. That is messed up. Thank goodness she ended up being okay.

Hi! Some info on trafficking that might help- You're right in that someone could be messing around or setting a trap but just FYI, trafficking almost never works like that. It's a rumor that's been passed around so much people think it's real and not blaming you one bit for that but just giving you the info for your safety. Please feel free to do your own research, it's a well studied topic. But I worked with law enforcement who worked in s*x trafficking. It's usually a loved one or trusted associate that tricks you into thinking you have an escape or opportunity and end up being trapped with abuse and drugs, sometimes confinement but the mind is enough of a cage when done right.
They target people who are already on the end of their thread. People who are desperate and vulnerable. Teens or young adults whose families/spouses are neglectful or abusive, they may be homeless or sometimes addicts or even just girls or young men looking for love and support and finding a "Boyfriend" online or at a bar but coming from such a toxic environment that they don't know how to identify the red flags in the person's behavior... things like that.
It's the people you know who pose the greatest risk to you statistically, whether you're talking assault, grape, murder or trafficking, strangers are the minority of offenders. Not to say distrust everyone in your life and keep them at a distance, but do keep yourself safely positioned, so many of the traditional thoughts on relationships can trap you in abuse if you don't learn to see the signs. Highly recommend studying the basics of psychological dysfunction, like personality disorders, cycles of abuse, attachment types, etc, etc.. Life changing information that helps you so much in so many ways.

If they target random adults in populated areas, they are just bringing the cops and media down on them. It's a huge risk and there's no need. There's plenty of young people from poor and dysfunctional households who are perfect targets, easy to trick into volunteering, family can't/ won't do much, cops will treat it like a runaway, plus drugs are usually already part of the equation. There's simply no need for them to take the risk. Like serial killers, most often, they go for the easy targets and know where to find them. It's tragic.
I remember a couple years back people were getting so worked up online because in some city, someone thought it would be kind and uplifting to leave a single rose on their parked car in a grocery parking lot and everyone thought it was traffickers... it's not. That's just not how it works.

🫚THE GOSPEL OF THE WORD OF ALMIGHTY GOD "the last age in which God saves man from the imminent destruction of this old world"
("The root of man's opposition to God is his evil caused by Satan. Because Satan has corrupted him, man's conscience is numb, he is immoral, his thoughts are corrupted, and he has a backward mind. After Satan corrupted people, their former sanity, former conscience, and character were dulled too much and destroyed by Satan. Man lost his sense, his disposition became like that of a wild animal and his rebellion against God became more frequent and more intense. What things are contained in Satan's nature? For example, Why do you become selfish?" Why are you so happy to accept those unreasonable things? Why do you love those evils so much? What is the root of your love for these things? Where do they come from? What Satan's poison is can best be expressed with words. For example, if you ask the wrongdoer: 'Why do you do that? They will answer: 'Every man for himself and the devil took the last.' This one phrase reveals the root of the problem: Satan's logic has become people's lives, even what they do for themselves. This poison becomes the life and foundation of man, it exists in his body; humanity that was made evil continued to be dominated by it for thousands of years. And what Satan does is for himself. He wants to surpass God, be free and have God's power, and possess all of His creations, then, man's nature is Satan's nature.)
      Almighty God said
"The KEY of man's OPPOSITION AGAINST GOD is his EVIL CAUSED by SATAN. Because SATAN has CORRUPTED him, man's CONSCIENCE is NUMBLE, he is IMMORAL, his ATTITUDES are BAD, and he has a BACKWARD thinking. Before Satan brought him down, he obeyed God and obeyed His words. He is NATURALLY SANE and has a CLEAR CONSCIENCE, and his PERSONALITY is NORMAL. 🛑
After SATAN CORRUPTED people, his former SENSE, former CONSCIENCE, and HUMANITY were too DULL and DESTROYED by SATAN. 😪
So, he LOST his OBEDIENCE and LOVE for GOD. MAN LOST his SENSE, his DISPOSITION became LIKE a WILD ANIMAL and his REBELLION against God became MORE FREQUENT and SEVERE. 😪
But people still don't know or even recognize it, and just fight and rebel blindly."
"At the TIME, when the WORD of GOD has NOT been ALIVE to MAN, SATAN'S NATURE HOLDS and DOMINATES people.
What--what THINGS are INSIDE SATAN'S NATURE? For example, WHY are you being SELFISH?" WHY do you need to PROTECT your STATUS in LIFE? WHY do you get so EMOTIONAL? WHY are you SO HAPPY to ACCEPT those illogical things? WHY do you love those EVIL things? WHAT is the ROOT of your LOVE for these THINGS? WHERE do they COME FROM? By now you all understand that this is because of the content of SATAN'S POISON. 😪☀️
WHAT SATAN'S POISON is CAN be EXPRESSED with WORDS. For example, if you ASK the DOER: 'WHY are you DOING that?' They will answer: 'Every MAN for HIMSELF and the DEVIL TOOK the LAST.' This one phrase reveals the ROOT of the PROBLEM: SATAN'S LOGIC has become the LIFE of PEOPLE, no matter what they DO just for THEMSELVES. 😪😪
Everyone THINKS that 'Every man thinks only of himself and not of the welfare of others,' is the life and the philosophy of man, and it also represents the nature of man. 😪
'EVERY MAN for HIMSELF and the DEMON TOOK THE LAST.' This STATEMENT by SATAN is DEFINITELY POISON and when a MAN receives it, his entire personality is definitely affected. SATAN'S NATURE is EXPOSED in this REVELATION; this is his whole PERSON. This POISON becomes the LIFE and FOUNDATION of MAN, it EXISTS in his BODY; humanity MADE EVIL has CONTINUOUSLY been dominated by it for THOUSANDS--THOUSANDS of YEARS. 😪
And EVERYTHING SATAN DOES is for HIMSELF. He wants to OVERCOME GOD, be FREE and HAVE GOD'S POWER, and HAVE ALL of His CREATIONS, therefore, MAN'S NATURE is SATAN'S NATURE." 😪🙏

The few inpatient psych units that remain have very short stays, for good and bad. At the one I worked in, the average stay after a serious suicide attempt was 1 or 2 days, though this is based on the inpatient care generally does not lead to better outcomes).
The psych units that do exist are often financially insolvent, and kept open by hospitals as a community service. Everyone wants better mental health care…but no one wants to pay for it. Our small unit had 3 nurses who did nothing but fight with insurance companies for payment.
Just go to any inner city and you can clearly find many people with far more debilitating neuropsych issues, left to the streets.
It varies a bit by state, but it generally EXTREMELY hard to have someone legally committed, and until courts get involved due to a crime, it’s typically only for very short-term, crisis care. It’s not like in the movies.

Neighbors are too scared to be mistaken and get somebody in trouble. My mother used to physically beat me. My brothers told me they once heard me screaming while being beaten. They were playing with the kids next door. No one ever called the cops. My mother would even take me to church black and blue. I got lucky enough to make her mad enough to kick me out. It's sad how many other victims don't make it because people are afraid to be wrong. Recently, my sister and I were talking, and I mentioned our brothers saying they heard me screaming. She said it reinforced her resolve to call the cops, even if she thinks she could be wrong, when there are screams that don't sound like playing (interspersed with giggling).

Maybe you just had a really loud scream while being punished
If i know your mom is a god fearing woman why would i assume she is going to kill you
Maybe you aren't a good child and you misbehave in your own self righteousness and individuality
And if everyone in the neighborhood knows that as a common occurrence where you end up still being alive why call?
If it was the screams of your mother I'm sure they would have called, but if you screamed all the time and you got punished all the time it's just par for the course
Don't take it so personally, you're not that important and internalizing that will make your life allot more pleasant

    • @La.Summer
      @La.Summer 3 місяці тому +4

@@PaendaTube WOW. You have some messed up logic.
"God fearing," or pretending to be, is no guarantee and is sometimes a cover.
Just because someone ends up alive the next day... Are you serious? The day they don't end up alive do you reconsider your choices? It's too late then.
Someone screaming from being beat, if it even lasts just minutes, is not discipline. Hearing screaming while playing with your kids (which implies the passage if time) is excessive.
You should be checked out (in person) by a psychiatrist because you may be unaware that you are a narcissist.

While in college I was walking my dog down a bike path one night and saw a girl walking quickly, arms crossed, head down. A guy was aggressively catching up to her. I asked if she was okay or needed help. She smiled and said no but thank you. As a girl myself it felt wrong to just walk away. I decided to hang around and watch. Sure enough I saw her run from him and heard arguing. They ran into a field and when he threw her down on the ground I called 911. I found out they were in a relationship. She wasn't upset about the cops being called and thanked me again. All I'm saying is Better safe than sorry!

I realize how much your upbringing impacts your ability to get involved in situations with strangers and neighbors. My mother was the type of mom who was looking out for everyone. If she heard a scream, she called the police. If she saw a kid alone, she was helping them find their mother. My mom treated everyone’s business like it was her business. Now me and my sister are exactly like her too. The people who I know who are not like this grew up with parents who told them to mind their business or to ignore situations like this. It’s sad how many people do this.

Definitely wish my parents would have made it more of a priority. As an adult I see affect me. The inability to see/feel if a situation has gone too far to the point it needs to end.
