It is a wonderful thing to see. They are mostly gone from our local waters. Used to be one of the most abundant fish in certain locations nearby, but are now functionally extinct.
Good video mate, I live really close to that spot and ride past there everyday for school. I will defiantly be trying that spot soon, I fished a bit up the river a bit and caught some nice fish. Good vid!
What a fun session and not easy catching those little Silvers, bait stealers as I call them. Been a big number of them up here on the Edward too, caught more this summer than the last 3 years combined. Well done Rohan!!!
I was up menindee at the block dam and I was catching the same little silvers, carp and perch but it was nice to see the courtesy of that jet ski rider most of the time they don't slow down when they pass champion, hope you enjoyed your days fishing 🙂🎣🪱
Never thought of trying that river as the Murray is not that far ,but it looks really nice and safe to get the kids out and catch and release some fish . Is there Any other parts of the river that are just as good for kids …..love the videos keep them coming
Hey Geoff thanks heaps mate. The Campaspe river has loads of accessible spots in Echuca, I'd recommend anywhere along Campaspe Esplanade. If you can find an access spot across the river from the back 9 golf course there's some good fishing to be found there. Good luck!
Great fun! What a session. Maybe only small, but so much action. :) Good times. I hope the missus is doing well. Of course, the rods were going to go off right when she messaged, lol. Just a hypothesis on the school of Silvers with the school of carp, maybe they were feeding on what the carp were stirring up out of the silt, which would explain why you were catching them willy nillly hand over fist. Both schools feeding, the Silvers hitting what the carp missed. I have seen larger trout and Goldens following schools of carp around here, hunting in the mud clouds they stir up, which also provides cover by virtue of being a mud cloud lol. .
Thanks so much Andrew. That's a really interesting hypothesis actually, it makes a lot of sense. Whatever the cause was I sure wasn't complaining though lol
Thanks so much Peter! I used to fish around there when I was a kid about 30 years ago haha. Time flies mate. She is doing ok at the moment, still taking it day by day though.
That session was on fire mate definitely strange the carp and silvers schooling up together But made for plenty of bites and plenty of fish Good to see some more muddy leave the system 👍🏼 Keep up the great work mate Tight lines 🎣
Silver perch look awesome, would a bucket next to you with some river water help you wet your hands? I like your videos around Bendigo. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much Ricky! Funny you should mention that, I actually do that when bait fishing for trout so I can wet my hands, and also so I can let them breathe for a moment while I grab my camera haha. Maybe I should do it more often with all fish.
Those fish had you as busy as a traffic cop in rush hour traffic, Lol, and that tiny one in your hand, the hook in it's mouth made it look like it swallowed a boat anchor, Lol.
Rohan, with the red colouring to the fins, the fork in the tail and lack of barbels, is it possible that you were catching roach and not euro carp? Well done all the same.
Hi David, I went back and double checked the footage to make sure, and I'm pretty confident that they were just carp. Roach tend to have a shorter dorsal fin, where these fish had a dorsal fin running a long way down it's back. You did make me wonder if I missed something though haha. Thanks heaps mate.
Very good question mate! I definitely did try my bait at the waters edge a few times, even tried to sight cast a couple of them, but I cut those parts out of the video because it was getting kind of long already haha
Hi mate can you please give me a run down on a Murry river set up ? I have recently moved up here from Melbourne. And lost to many lures to keep spending money on them haha thanks :)
Hey buddy I'm guessing you mean a setup to run lures in the Murray River? I don't lure fish a lot in the Murray but I can tell you that I use a Daiwa Tatula HD 200 baitcaster reel on a team Daiwa hyper rod spooled with 40lb J-braid for all of my cod and yellowbelly lure fishing. I use a fairly heavy setup and heavy line but it helps save my lures from the snags!! It's also useful when a meaty cod tries to tank you in the logs you can reef him back out like I did to the 75cm cod in my recent cod opening video. I hope that helps mate!
Just wondering where has the legendary Mr corker been something is feeling a bit weird lately hasn’t answerd anybody’s comments anyways just hope he is doing ok 😊keep up the great work rowan you legend
Remember when we lived in Swan hill the Murray River was only about 200 yards from my grandmothers front door and if you hooked a carp we just use to throw it up on the bank and leave it there they really are a disgusting fish
Thanks John! I actually filmed a scene saying how annoyed I was that people were using the riverbanks as a tip but the video got a bit too long to include it lol
Well, that's how you want the fishing Rohan, non-stop action! Seems like there was a lot of rubbish lying around on the banks, it amazes me how lazy some people are.
That’s why I hate fishing with worms, I absolutely hate silver perch such an annoying pest of a fish, I don’t know why they are fully protected because they are plagued everywhere.
They can definitely be annoying, but can also be a lot of fun. I catch them on worms, cheese, corn, and shrimp, so they can be hard to avoid if im targeting other fish specifically lol
I go fishing over at Lake lescelles in Hopetoun a lot and the brim in there are aggressive and big a week ago I caught this silver and it was legit as soon as it hit the water he smoked it it was around 35 cm
That was great. They were on like Donkey Kong. Well done..
They sure were! Thanks Robbie
Wow that's some great fishing there good to see you back out and enjoying it.
Thanks so much Chris
Mad session Rohan! Cant believe how many silvers are in the campaspe now, should be good for the years to come.
Thanks Jacob, yeah it's really good to see the numbers of all of the native fish picking up
It is a wonderful thing to see. They are mostly gone from our local waters. Used to be one of the most abundant fish in certain locations nearby, but are now functionally extinct.
You know the bite window is great when you are considering going from 2 rods to 1, good session mate
Haha I know right!? My trick with casting the 2nd one out into the middle worked a treat though, it didn't get another touch! LOL. Thanks heaps mate.
Thanks for sharing hope your keeping well and keep up the hard work hope to see you at the next 👍
Thanks heaps Tyson
Another good one! Merry Christmas to you and your family Rohan.
Thanks so much Dave, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours as well mate.
Man I love watching you fish as love what you do
Glad you're enjoying the vids! Haha yep I sure do
Keep it up mate 👍
Thanks mate
Another great video Rohan

Thanks so much Larry! Bait stealers is right lol. They are slowly creeping into all systems of the murray now which is wonderful.
Great stuff mate 👍

Ripper session on the Silvers 🤙🏻
Thanks Beck!
2 rods going off is always a bit tricky haha

hahahaha I think it would need a thicker rope lol
🤣🤣 Rohan would make a more memorable SPLOOSH! than the fish he threw back ;)

Love Echuca such a beautiful place to have a holiday
Sure is jake I will be up there in October this year for a wedding
A beautiful place for sure. I actually grew up there!

hahaha the boat anchor bit cracked me up Russ! They definitely kept me very entertained
How good!
Cheers buddy!
Great work mate! P.S. Much better when you ditch the bells though, they are very distracting.
Thanks Pete! Haha I'm a hopeless fisherman without my bells, but I'm slowly getting better!
Have you tried to use pack bait for cap it is highly affected to me
Hi Isaac, no mate I've never tried it but I definitely will at some stage!
Echuca is my fav spot to fish especially along the Murray
I actually grew up in Echuca!
@@RKJFishing that’s awesome
Hi bro. Great session! Ps it’s not ‘smashing the carp’ it’s ‘Transferring it; from this world to the next!’ Keep up the great work mate.
haha transferring the carp. I like that! Cheers Glen
Getting on ta order some Jan Juc eggs after this. Them bloody Nathalia Euros are so tiny and expensive. Cheers
Great idea mate! I've never gone back to the Nathalia ones since trying Jan Jucs

@@RKJFishing A lot of our young carp in Burley Griffin are similar in appearance. As far as I know we have no roach.
Try using a float with the little fish
I certainly do that from time to time! I even have a few videos of it on my channel
@@RKJFishing good stuff love you videos
Any murry cod in there
I haven't caught a cod in that exact spot but have caught them upstream from there
Another great video Rohan. Hope you wife is still going well 🍻👍
Thanks so much Julian. She is getting there slowly mate, cheers.
If they are cruising the waters edge why not put bait there?

Hi we live in Echuca are you able to tell us where abouts you were please as my 10 year old is a keen fisherman
Hi Trudy, that's the Campaspe River over near Warren Street. I wish him the best of luck.
Thanks I went out behind the cemetery on the weekend but it was blocked off 😢
Oh damn! I filmed this one way before the floods, I haven't been down there since
Load up on the Bushman repellent!
haha I had my fair share caked onto myself mate
