I really need to fish the Murray more often don't I? haha. I agree I think NSW fisheries should look into a legal keepable size for silver perch from the Murray river, even if it's 35 or 40+ it's better than none at all. As you said there's tons of them in there, so much so that they are spilling into the Campaspe like crazy
@@RKJFishing yeah seriously does! I have said before silvers love eating carp eggs, last few times I have fished the Murray rarely catch or see a carp; catch tones of silvers though and small cod which is good; not many yella's which is concerning....
Thanks mate! I actually did give it some slack but i cut that out of the video because it didnt work, but ive got a video coming out in the next day or 2 where I do that trick and it works beautifully
Well done, haven't had a fish in the Murray for a while now, last couple trips over in Mathoura is was too high to catch much. Always fun when you find some Silvers and actually catch a few, nice job!!!
Well done Rohan, great spot there mate , looking forward to hitting that spot my self over Easter, hope you went past the Beechworth bakery and got your self a bee sting 😀,
Thanks heaps Jim! I wish I had have thought of going to Beechworth bakery, I love their ned kelly pies! Good luck when you try out the spot Jim, let me know how you go
Looks like the Murray is finally dropping Rohan - it's been high in SA since early December. Good to see the small cod and SP, this high water will have really got the spawning going.
I hadn't sighted the Murray for about 6 months prior to this, I had no idea it had been high lol. I'm glad it might be dropping for you though. I think all of the systems in our region had a great spawning season, I've been catching weenie fish of all varieties these past few weeks everywhere I go, and I've heard reports from Robbie that the spawn was good over his way as well. I'm interested to see what you start catching over there once the water levels normalize!
Your slowly getting towards my old neck of the woods, Swan Hill born and raised. I have seen Your video of fishing Lake Boga, but never closer to Swan Hill??
When I filmed that video at Lake Boga, my family and I were staying in Swan Hill on the little murray in one of the cabin parks. I fished that river for 3 days with my camera rolling and didn't get a single bite LOL! I'm hoping to get back over there towards the end of this year to explore more water
Better to have two rods with to many bite to handle then one rod with no bites... Definitely a great spot plenty of fish around and if you ask me any cod is a nice cod nevermind the size. Some nice Silvers there that is for sure 👍🏼 Keep up the great work mate Tight lines 🎣
Thanks heaps mate. I reckon the smaller cod are prettier than the bigger cod by far! Not quite as much fun to catch though lol. I'm happy regardless of what I catch as long as it's a fish lol
Thanks Rob! For bait fishing I use 10lb mono all the way to the hook, and the rods are just cheap jarvis walker ones from kmart, the reels are both Shimano Sienna 2500, but the red one is newer than the silver one.
I sure did Nathan, I love my fishing of all types haha. I reckon it would eliminate some shrimp but definitely not all of them. I see them pestering Robbiefishing all the time on his channel and he always uses paternoster rigs. It would definitely keep a fair few yabbies off it though!
Hey mate the river is open to fishing all year round, but you can't specifically target Murray cod during spring. I recommend grabbing a free copy of the NSW fishing guidebook from a tackle store, or lookup the website, as the rules can change from time to time.
I was speaking to a gentleman at Kialla lake the other day and he told me that he has seen people pull out eel tail catfish! The lake is waiting and so are we all
Only ever been on 1 paddle steamer and that's the Pyap in Swan Hill and as far as throwing a line in the water that must be 30 years ago I don't drive and my wife HATES anything to do with comping and fishing
My family and I stayed in Swan Hill a couple of years ago and we rode the Pyap down the Murray, it was awesome. I grew up around all the ones in Echuca so the Swan Hill one was something different. You'll have to wet a line when she isn't looking mate, what she doesn't know can't hurt her! lol
G'day mate my daughter lives in Echuca right near where the paddle steamers park up in the historical town is there any good fishing around that area I can take my daughter fishing
i got a 103cm on a bardie grub down the campaspe and my second biggest is 91cm in the same spot on cheese private propity becausze my dad knows the owner and im only 10 yr old.
That's a nice fish 👍🏼 They get bigger but after about 1.5kg size they turn vegetarian... That's no joke seen 2kg models caught on corn before 👍🏼 Seems like you have a good spot you should try some corn there My mate uses a small hook a single piece of corn.
I've caught my fair share of silver perch on corn before, on the sandbar on the other side of the echuca moama bridge is a great spot for silvers on corn. They were only small though, so I think they eat corn regardless of size
Don't ever forget Rohan, the worst days fishing are way better than the best days working mate :)
You've got that right Mick! Cheers mate
@@RKJFishing, yep, always have said that and it's bloody true mate.
Hope your well thanks fore sharing top job and allways a 👍 from me
Cheers mate
Those silver perch are beauties!!! Nice video amigo
Thanks so much Raul
Great spot great area great video 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much Darren!
Great stuff Rohan! Love the video. ✌️🙂
Thanks Tubby!
Murray river never dissappoints! Always catch something in the warmer months! Silvers are very thick up there! Can't believe they are still protected!

Thanks Glen! Ive had 2 donuts in a row since then lol

Well done Rohan! Looks like a ripper spot to sit down and relax mate
Thanks Adrian! It's a ripper spot for sure, next time I'll take some heavier sinkers and go for some bigger ones out a bit deeper
so much to complain about when you cant keep up with your rods mate, imagine if every day was like that, what a wonderful world this would be
hahaha spot on mate. It's a great problem to have! lol
Awesome spot mate!
Yeah it's beautiful there. Hopefully next time I remember to pack some heavier sinkers so I can go out a bit deeper
Awesome work mate. I'm so jealous of those beautiful Silver Perch. Yelling "got him" before actually hooking up is one of my special skills. Hahahaha
Thanks Robbie! I really should fish the Murray River more often lol.
Nice catches Ro!! That river is such a good spot!!
Thanks mate, its an amazing river
Great video mate
Thanks Zane!
Awesome video matee been to that spot a few times had a few bites but as lucky as urself
Thanks Connor! It might be worth another crack, they're fired up at the moment!
Good to see a few other breeds being caught. Cheers Steve.
Thanks Steve
When you have a fish on and it get you round a snag you can let your line go slack for about 30 seconds and sometimes they swim off, nice silvers too.

Oh mate how godo are the bee sting at beechworth every time I go to echuca we always stop in
My mates used to own that bakery
Thanks heaps Jim! I wish I had have thought of going to Beechworth bakery, I love their ned kelly pies! Good luck when you try out the spot Jim, let me know how you go
@RKJ Fishing will do mate but why did you mention
Ned Kelly Pies 🥧,
How good are they lol
11:53pm... Do you reckon they are still open? haha
An other great video. Good on ya mate

Beautiful spot Rohan, no Reddies though.
It certainly is mate. I thought I would have got a redfin as well
Hey mate today in Hopetoun I went fishing with scrub worms and my mate caught a absolute giant silver perch
That's awesome! Well done to him

Cool

This is a great video! I’m headed up to Echuca next weekend. Just wondering about what set you use and what size line and leader ?
Thanks Rob! For bait fishing I use 10lb mono all the way to the hook, and the rods are just cheap jarvis walker ones from kmart, the reels are both Shimano Sienna 2500, but the red one is newer than the silver one.
@@RKJFishing Awesome! That’s pretty much the same setup I use down here in Ocean Grove. Thanks for the info!
Mate looks like you had alot of fun 🎣 Would a dropper loop 15-30cm off the bottom help minimize the shrimp activity ?

i got a 103cm on a bardie grub down the campaspe and my second biggest is 91cm in the same spot on cheese private propity becausze my dad knows the owner and im only 10 yr old.
Wow congratulations thats amazing! My biggest is 89cm from the Waranga western channel
Watch out for the floods 🙏🇦🇺🍻
Thanks for the concern mate! I'm a long way from where the flooding is, thankfully.
The silver was at least 1.4-1.5 kg silver perch
That's a nice fish 👍🏼
