Someone actually found how to beat Paper Mario by inputting ACE in Zelda Ocarina of Time first, then switching cartridges. The kind of stuff you hear in elementary school but real. It's on UA-cam.
When you said that the video quality was poor, I was reminded of how weird speed running is. There's a lot of stories that involve things like games being recorded by pointing a shoddy camera at your screen with everything being just barely visible, and today they're almost all restricted to speed running history docs.
11 exit runs are definite proof of skill and game mechanics knowledge 0 exit runs are definite proof of skill and game program knowledge Both are super cool
I love watching a TAS and human run of the same level. The TAS is so crazy because you compare it to what’s possible as a human then there strategy and tactics behind it, and the human run makes you appreciate the runner’s reflexes and quick thinking. Both are just so wonderful together
Usually I pause and do something else in these long wr speedrun history videos, but this one kept me interested and engaged throughout. Incredible commentary and great pacing. Amazingly done
This video just got recommended to me this evening after watching probably thousands of hours of eight and sixteen-bit era Mario runs and hacks on UA-cam. Not sure why UA-cam waited so long to introduce us, but I'm glad I've found you. Bloody good video! Now take this comment for the algorithm, as well as my subscription!
Eventually, through a complex setup of multitaps, many controllers, a particular third party composite cable with a short in it, and by placing the cartridge in just the right position, the game can now be beaten by powering on the console and immediately jumping to credits - thus the quest ended for the first negative time SMW speedrun.

This is bringing back memories.... 20 years ago I beat every level of this game (except star road) in 3 hours. An eternity compared to these folks, but exhilaratingly fast for me. Such a joy to watch. 🌟🍍
Imagine Seth or Furious going back in time to when the game was released and beating it over and over again like their recent runs on a kid who just got the game’s SNES
