      @DejaVoodooDoll The game doesn't considered it as "half a press", it counts it as two separate A-presses when it was actually only one, continuously held depression. You halved the _amount_ of A-presses needed, but you can't literally half a depression. You either depress it or not. "Half A-press" is a confusing term.

There is no long drawn-out introduction there is no explanation of what Mario Brothers 3 is and the long boring history of video games in general but simple content immediately. I love the humbleness and I love the content even more. Keep up the good work I'll watch it all.

    Many many speedrunners have fallen in to the trap of proclaiming, and maybe even believing, the record they set cannot be beat. Unfortunately some have taken it pretty hard when the constant of speedrunning occurs: all times can be beaten. Maybe not beaten in the way you'd think, however, maybe it turns out something believed to be impossible is possible.

      I never had much interest in speedruns either to be honest, but there are some really amazing ones out there.
      Most entertaining run/runner I've ever seen is Heyzeusherestoast who does Bloodborne speedruns. Fascinating game to see run (play it first if you're bothered by spoilers), and probably THE most fascinating runner I've ever seen.
      Another great game to see run is Sonic Adventure 2. There's a great run by Talon floating out there.
      Some games are clearly superior speed run potential and become infinitely more entertaining than almost every other game.

    While many love Summoning Salt for his obviously incredibly-researched and properly laid out speed running material, I can't even express how much of an inspiration he has been as a fellow content creator. He does such a well job at pacing his narration, keeping you hooked with just enough adjectives and catchiness without being overly pretentious. I've learned a lot along my way on the Pad Chennington channel, and watching SS videos has been sort of this teaching experience for me, let alone the wonderfully crafted and interesting topics he breaks down.

    I had to stop watching the video to make this comment.
    This video, along with the whole series, is absolutely fantastic and super fun to watch. I find myself not getting bored despite the length of the videos.
    Keep up the great work man, it is highly appreciated.

    Funny, warp whistle got people riled up about "cheating", and then they proceed to use actual glitches and unintended mechanics like wall clipping in their warpless runs. Well played.

      @NPC# 8675309 Most every speed run is about glitches. Games are built, though generally unintentionally, WITH glitches in them. So long you use the games features, again even if unintentional, you're beating the game using the game.

      @ahumanbeingfromtheearth1502 4 роки тому +22

      @NPC# 8675309 try actually performing the glitches used in these runs more than once, and then try to tell me the game would be harder without them. for all of these glitches used in these runs you have to do pixel/ frame perfect movements in order to execute them, and you have to do it multiple times. for all but the very best Mario 3 players, it would be way faster to just do the level normally because of how difficult it is to perform theme glitches, so I fail to see how a glitchless run would be more impressive.

      @NPC# 8675309 also, wall jumps and wall clips both appear in official smb3 strategy guides, so...

    • @azuritesgalaxy6916
      @azuritesgalaxy6916 4 роки тому +13

      @NPC# 8675309 there's usually no glitch categories for every game, but no glitch shouldn't be considered better than glitch runs, because many glitches are really hard to do. getting a world record in a game is really amazing no matter if its in the glitch or no glitch category. they both require lots of skill and effort.

      Nintendo power actually acknowledges the glitch
      So if Nintendo says the player should use it, is it a glitch?

    Mitch’s original speedrun was what introduced me to speedrunning as a concept, and even though I eventually learned to run SM64 much more competently than this, SMB3 was the first game I ever actually put time and effort into running myself. Don’t get me wrong, I sucked. But I was still on another level compared to the average person so it was still really impressive to show off to people.
