Been meaning to check out some of these 90s-inspired city-builders - let me know if this is your jam and I'll defintiely consider doing more! If you want to check out Tlatoani and this video helped you find it, I'd definitely appreciate you checking it out from my link: (Sponsored by Paradox Arc): play.paradoxarc.com/AmbiguousAmphibian
I would definitely buy this game without a 2nd thought. I used to play as the Aztecs in Civilization 2 as a kid, and i absolutely loved the Aztecs and their History...unfortunately, my PC broke about a month ago, and i just dont have the money to fix it yet. But i promise, once i get my PC working, buying this game will be the first thing i do.
There is something weird about how this game looks. The main menu is bright and full of color, meanwhile in game it seems as if the sun was hidden behind a thick cloud cover, and all color was drained from the image. If the devs just moved some magic brightness and color sliders to make the image bright and colorful, I think the game would look much better. The artstyle is really nice, it just looks sad and dark for some reason.
i kinda hope the devs turn this into a series, make games 2 3 and 4 about different ancient civs around the world. that'd be really cool because they did such a good job with this one
It looks so similar to pharaoh/cleopatra. The way npc's follow the roads and enter buildings, the style and tile layout, size of certain buildings e.c.t. Its so obvious where they got the inspiration for this one
Nice game, but its just reskin of generic builder simulator with super watered down Aztec theme, as beside names and few generic systems/graphics it have nothing to do with Aztec, as you can see it just by looking at social systems in this game, its just European simulator with Aztec building... it have no sense if you look at history of that area and their socio-economic system that didnt had that type of separation and hiring system...
These maps remind me of old school size map restraints. And I'm not down for it, if I'm going this basic I want a city skylines size map at least.... Sorry But I'll stick to my literal world sized EU4 and HOI4
Americans just cant stop themselves from making everything into squares. Also why does the otherwise beautiful art in this game just get SLATHERED all over by that cold blue tint across the entire screen? I thought it was raining or "winter" or something. Does the sun not exist on this map?
Rendering a city in grid-form aids in navigating from within a vehicle. Our reliance on those vehicles grew (in part) out of how much land we have. I figure since we're making generalized statements, and implying value judgments: Non-Americans suck. Why? I don't know. Because circles.
Ahh... With all we've advanced, sad to see that this kind of game still suffers from the same downsides. People scaled up as tall as houses etc... It looks quite good aside from that.

You should definitely play more of these games
!
Nice to see an Aztec city builder, Egyptian and Roman cities usually get all the love in these kinds of games.
"Hey Xincotencotl. I bet you 5 Cocoa Beans you cant come up this stairs with your eyes closed"
I was OBSESSED with Children of the Nile as a kid, this is giving me the same vibe. I'll definitely give this a try. Thank you Mr AA!
One of my favourite games. You will definitely like this game mate!
Wow! An insane amount of nostalgia from how this game looks 😁
I played so many games like this when I was young.
Me too - reminded me of the back covers of games I'd see in a Staples haha
My first ever school project was on the Aztecs, I MUST HAVE THIS GAME!
Its so nice to see pdx making games that are not grand strategy, but still needs a fair amount of thinking

It's currently on sale/20% off and in early access. Hope you get it fixed soon!

I think it looks rather realistic instead of how most games are oversaturated.

This is 100% very directly inspired by Pharaoh and that line of games, and it's beautiful
Babe wakeup, new lizard man just dropped
You should try Pharoh, I played it a bunch as a kid and they remastered it, selling on steam
Age of Empires, is that you? The nostalgic tears!😢
This game will be great once you have all the 120 pieces of DLC.
PLEBS ARE NEEDED

ok
What? No, it's pretty well-researched... The classes were much more flexible than in Europe but it wasn't so dissimilar.
FIRST!
Fifteenth!

I think it's because they're going for the blueish tint you would get from CRT monitors back in the 90s. Giving it that 90s isometric look
Heyyy squares are fun :(

wtf does that mean? is every country obsessed with rectangles for having buildings?
There more efficient then curves

Looks really cool, but that fire animation is such trash it makes me less interested in playing it.
