I have a son who has autism. My son does not speak. My son doesn't even eat solid foods and he is three and a half years old. I'm seeking all the help I can get for him. I have twins and one is autistic I am going through the same thing with her and she is the same age. It is the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through in my life and I’ve wanted to kill my self multiple times because I had no hope of a future. But anyways the only thing keeping my going (and alive) is my relationship with Jesus. He has given me peace and joy and hope and it’s still hard but way better when I put my trust in Him. Hope that helps!

I too have changed the diet of my 2 year old, removed the dairy and glutens,, and he has actually changed a lot. This happened within less than 2 months. He has stopped toe walking, spinning around himself, he hardly does hand flapping, eats well, poops well, and above all responds to his name. ❤️

Late diagnosed audhd here that had a severely limited diet like that in my childhood because my mother understood it was important a repetitive diet was to me and gave me autonomy around food. Since my diet was so limited she taught me how to prepare it and got me involved- at around age 10 I ended up starting a special interest in baking because cookies were my favorite thing and she would let me bake whatever kind I wanted. I slowly learned to tweak the things I liked, and now after raising 2 neurodivergent with the same issues am considered the best chef in my extended family. Don’t count him out on being a chef just yet! I wish this information was available to my mom when I was a kid. After a lifetime of gut issues, I am just now in middle age learning I have a gluten intolerance and have switched to goats milk. Thanks for accommodating your child’s diet in this way, it’s so important to accommodate your child’s diet and change gradually. I know he will slowly add new foods over time as he is ready, just like I did. I can’t imagine how much more stressful my childhood would’ve been if my mother hadn’t been so accommodating and patient with me. Good job!

My sister and I have sons that are age 4, with autism. We have both thought about trying this diet. I’m happy to see your experience on this. I’ve heard so many people do it but have never seen or hear how they go about it. It’s so nice to hear yalls story and the steps y’all took to get to this place now. I wouldn’t say my son is in a diet right now. Though I will say two weeks ago he would eat tons of sweets and live off snacks. For his 4yo wellness visit, they told me he was below weight. It saddened me to hear because he really doesn’t eat much. I decided to take away all snacks. No more sweets and candy. I’ve seen a change. He requests a lot more for food and if he goes want a snack I try and find a big snack I can divide throughout the day and will give small portions of it to give him in between meals. I’ve seen a difference on his food intake. Maybe I will give the gluten free diet a chance too

It is because of people like you I get mistreated. My previous school claimed autism was an intellectual disability, and that I was a danger to the school. None of this is true. Fruit and vegetables contain other nutrients which cannot be completely replaced by a multi-vitamin. Using the "small and gradual" approach, my wife got our fussy autism eating son to eat certain vegetables, e.g. spinach mixed with chicken, pumpkin mixed with rice, etc. And certain foods like blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, banana, avocado, watermelon he eats whole. Also he prefers her cooking to anyone else's as well. Also fruit smoothies can be used to hide some blended vegetable ingredients as well.

      The bottom line
Some people feel they’ve benefited from the GAPS diet, though these reports are anecdotal.
However, this elimination diet is extremely restrictive for long periods of time, making it very difficult to stick to. It may be especially dangerous for the exact population it’s intended for - vulnerable young people.
Many health professionals have criticized the GAPS diet because many of its claims are not supported by scientific studies.

2 of my 5 kids are severe autistic (both diagnosed before the age of 2). They are all about structure in food. I recently stopped gluten and milk products for them both. It definitely has effect in my daughter's body. She has the whole year constipation and since removing it, she finds it easier to poo. She eats a better diet now. I slowly changed it. Step for step. She is 11 and my son is 12. They both can not speak. They could speak both until 14-18 months and they both stopped talking at the same age. I love them. I learn you so much. Autism is something they choose for when they were born, they need to learn something in this lifetime and the people around them aswell. What did you learn especially from your child? If you introduce New food you need to give it every week or it will be put in the “I don’t like it” pile and they will refuse to eat. I was able to add hamburger to the menu. 🙄. It did take some time and lots of energy

6:36 I heard on a Ted Talk about conditioning your brain for study that you can bring a lamp when you study, and only light it when you study. So on the test your brain goes into study mode.
Should be transitional(?) to eating. When eating at home to bring with some kind of on/off switched toy or rather, for when eating. And he just takes it with him when you go eat someplace else.
Just a suggestion. Might be worth a try.
Maybe you've already solved it. Twas over a year ago, this video.

Hi, my 7 yo son was diagnosed yesterday. This has been so useful, I have always noticed how when my son has lots of bread especially in the morning he seems more out of control. I will definitely be considering gluten free. He has always had issues with dairy and I was referred to a dietician when he was a baby. The dietician warned me against using goats milk because it's still mammal milk and has a very high percentage chance of having issues with that aswell. We give him oat, rice, cashew or almond whatever is on offer 😁

Another great informative video. Qiyam (Key-yahm) my great grandson who I wrote about in one of your other videos weaned himself off of milk. We found out he’d been allergic to it . He continually had a rash on his cheeks and chin. We thought it was a drool rash, but once he quit milk it went away. His diet consists of pediasure through his g-tube and a purée pouch of strawberry, peach and pear or broccoli, apple and pear for breakfast along with his formula. He may never eat regular food because of his texture sensitivity.

My daughter loves milk, chips, pasta and tomatoes soup. And oatmeal and cereal. I sneak broccoli into some things, like teriyaki bowls. She'll eat it that way. But not most other ways. Eggs, they'll eat eggs. But I want to encourage her to eat more foods. Hard though because they are sensitive to texture.

Hey!! Just one thing I had learned in my life... I m from India and we eat wheat everyday... As per to ayurveda, don't drink water after having any meal.. especially anything contain gluten n carbs.... It will stop the process of digestion and the food get stuck in the walls of intestine... Only after 50 mins of having one should drink water or other liquid...may be this can help in making digestion n gut strong

This is not true! According to Michael F. Picco, M.D. (MEDICAL DOCTOR)
"There's no concern that water will dilute the digestive juices or interfere with digestion. In fact, drinking water during or after a meal actually aids digestion.
Water is essential for good health. Water and other liquids help break down food so that your body can absorb the nutrients. Water also softens stool, which helps prevent constipation"
Please trust medical doctors! I'm begging all of you... As a person with autism, I trust my doctor.

I learned some medical schools offer no nutritional training, and those that do, medical students receive less than 24 hours and it’s often based on meat-dairy-egg industry-funded misinformation. There is a group of doctors, though, who are trying to change that: The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, pcrm.org - and their website may have some information about nutrition and autism.
Re animal milk: humans are built to be weened from mammalian milk. We are the only species that continues to drink animal milk beyond natural weening as well as the only animal that drinks milk from another species. The casein (milk protein) and mammalian estrogen are among things our human bodies shouldn’t be ingesting and are causing a host of health problems (lactose intolerance is the norm, for example, for most of the world and a genetic mutation for those who can tolerate it). Anyway, all that to encourage you (and everyone) to switch to plant milk. Some studies are investigating if cow milk is associated with autism. There’s not enough info to be definitive, though.
Whole-food, plant-based eating also helps the gut microbiom along with the probiotics.
Sorry so long... I hope some of this helps you like it has helped us. ❤️

I've got a splash of autism as well, and I happen to be very good at reading body language (seems that way at least, but who's to say one's not deceived by the hope of understanding what's going on around us). And I know this is a bit orthodox and maybe even a bit rude to point out, but it's all for facilitating communication. So here goes:
The petting on 8:06 starts of fine and dandy. Your boy raises his head in hope of the incoming pet, his sister nods 'yeah do it', he straightens his spine and raises his head when he's petted (as in pride and enjoyment), and he raises his hand to on top of the pad. And I'm not quite sure why, but it seems like you search for a response and you keep on petting him. He then lowers his hand from his pad in a stroking fashinon (I'm guessing as a hint that the petting should end (best case scenario would be 'in a similar stroking fashion'), but the petting goes on, so he jerks the hand away from the pad, while his sister signals to you 'put it down' with her eyes and head.
It's a small thing, but the small things build up one's whole world, right?
I often communicate through subliminal signals like this consciously, while most people unconsciously does. Not everyone notice this communication (I guess the stimuli is too low to trigger a conscious response), and I've learned to live with it and see the way other people function. But it's so nice when my communication is seen and my boundaries are respected. I get more relaxed.
I've looked about on a few videos during this writing and what I notice is that the subtle communications of autistic children are overlooked by their parents. It's quite easy for most people to see if they know what to look for. I think that understanding this way of communicating is a bit like understanding animals - You have to be engulfed in their world and see the world through their movements - A bit like a tiny sign language.
When I think about it sign language would actually be amazing to know for some autism people to know (as well as the people trying to get a read on them ofc ; )

With my kids I discovered it wasnt the gluten it was the folic acid that made their autism worse. Nearly all wheat/grain based foods are artificially enriched with certain B vitamins (but all include folic acid). When we removed wheat/grain based foods they got better, then a specialist recommended we give them B-complex vitamins and specifically stated we should try the methylated B vitamins. So we did. Well, within a day or two they became completely mental. Raging, violent, their autism symptoms got worse, and they began regressing. We stopped the B vitamins and in a few days they got better. I decided to administer single B vitamins to see which was the culprit. And it was folic acid. It didnt matter if it was folic acid, folate, methylfolate, or follinic acid. All the forms of folic acid made them worse. Much much worse. Vitamin B12 also made them feel worse but not as bad as the folic acid did.
To test the theory out further I went on the hunt for non-enriched, unadulterated, pure organic whole wheat. Literally just pure whole wheat directly from field to stone-mill to burlap bag. (Which is not easy to find, since nearly 100% of all the flour out there is enriched). And I decided to make homemade bread with it (like our ancestors did) and see what effect it would have on them. I didnt know what to expect. I gave them the bread, waited, nothing. No issues. No changes, no digestive disruption, nothing. I knew then, it wasnt the gluten, it was the folic acid, and they shove folic acid into everything. Even in gluten-free foods and foods you would never imagine them putting it into. Anything grain based, anything carb-heavy, has external folic acid added to it. They literally add it to dairy products too, under the label the general name of "vitamins".
So if you have autistic children, try it. Remove all folic acid enriched foods and all all folic acid heavy foods and you'll see in a few days they will begin to change. Ours dramatically changed when folic acid was removed. But the problem is folic acid stays a long time in the body so if there is a folate overload in the body it takes a long time to flush, and there is no information available on how to encourage or speed up the elimination of it.

@@saintcolumbo8869 Yes, but its folic acid that impacts them. The higher the dose of folic acid, the worse it is. The total removal of folic acid (including naturally occurring high folate sources) and symptoms go away. Which is why the GAPS diet and other things like Keto or Carnivore diets work for autistics. People misjudged it as a gluten issue, when its actually a folic acid issue. For example, the GAPS diet coincidentally removes foods that are enriched with folic acid and those foods that are naturally high in folates.

Look I hear what youre saying..... but what causes autism in the first place???
Because they're sensitive to the radiation, that can impact on the food they eat by creating allergies that probably never would be there...
Studies actually say that if you're pregnant too much folic acid from the mother can impact on the child......
Food is not the problem.... food had become a problem because your child is exposuresd some how to too much radiation..
You might take folic acid away and it might calm your child down but his still autistic .....
This is not about food the radiation to the body is causing the food problem........research....dont take my word for it.....

I'm placing this out there for Clinicians, Scientists, or anyone who is interested in our son's steady recovery from ASD.
Mid August 2020 our 3 year son was bitten by a Copperhead Snake and was rushed by Ambulance to a Hospital and given Antivenom. Since the incident he has been on a linear improvement in "All" of his symptoms. He improves everyday. He presence is even different.
Someone needs to study this for ASD victims.
