    You are saying 3 months before it starts falling out.. I thought mine was from trauma/surgery because it started falling out within a week of breaking both ankles and having surgery... 3 months before that? nothing I can think of. I have had numerous surgeries in my life and this has never happened.. Also its been 3 years and it's not recovered so I guess it's not that.. maybe menopause? But I had been dealing with those symptom for 10 years and it's never affected my hair before.. ANYWAY.... my hair has become very thin and has not recovered. I am now taking mega vitamins for two weeks and am hoping in the long run it will come back.

    Thank you for this video, as a man. I really was stressed about my hair coming out. This week was 3 months to the day i had covid . I was so sick and stressed out , plus with stresses of money, work. Plus is super dry in Colorado right now. I noticed more hair then usual coming out. Which is even more stressful. I have to learn to calm down. Plus not be tough with my hair. With towels, combs, blow dryer. Im taking all your advice plus seeing a dermatologist this week. I have really nice thick hair so it really bothers me to see it in my hands while i shower. I used bed head number 2 for the longest. And had great results as far as great hair.

      I live in Colorado as well and I notice that every few years I am sort of molting, it is upsetting. It is so dry here and i feel like I can't condition my hair enough and I only shampoo once a week. Bu this molting only lasts a few months in the dry winter and then it stops in the spring. I eat lots of oily fish like sardines and tuna in olive oil and I swear it helps with regrowing my hair and it gets thick again. :)

    I went to a dermatologist too. He gave me B12, Iron tablets and Qilib spray to apply on the scalp for 3 months.

    If you have Larger hairs & Smaller hairs next to it. It might be Androgenetic Alopecia, but there could be other factors. Do you have hereditary hair loss in your family? Are you on medications?
    TE is when you have handfuls of hair falling out all at once.

      TabithaFHair, i have a question about it. I am 15 years old male. One and a half month ago i started having excessive hair loss and it slowed down after 4 weeks after i started using anti dandruff shampoo, because i had dandruff at the same time. Now my hair are very very thin. I want to ask if this hair loss is due to MPB or Telogen effluvium. I have noticed that not all of my hairs have the same width(diameter), when they shed. Some of them ar thicker and the others are thinner. I have lost hair from almost every part of my head but most of them were lost from the top of my scalp( the left side is a little bit worse) and from a spot that is located above my ears( in the two sides of my head). I have visited a dermatologist but he didnt tell me if its mpb or te. I am afraid that it might be androgenetic alopecia but the only bald member of my family is my 80 year old grandfather. My father 50 years old, has only widow peaks and his father 82 years old, has only widow peaks too but his hair is a little bit thinner. In addition i am not mature enough for my age, namely i dont have facial hair and i have very little body hair. Theoritically speaking, it cant be mpb because i dont have high DHT levels( dht causes the growth of body and facial hair). Although the only bald member of my family is my 80 year old grandfather, and even though i am only 15 and i dont have facial or body hair, is there any possibility that my hair loss is due to mpb and not because of TE? Edit: Also five months ago i had high anxiety levels and a moderate depression( but i didnt take any medication).

    • @tabithafhair
      @tabithafhair  4 роки тому

      @@nickgior3849 Hi Nick.
      It sounds like you have TE. MPB is just like it is. It starts in a pattern and continues.
      It is very common for TE to look like you might have lost more hair on one side of the head or the other. Your stress levels are probably what caused it.
      What type of dandruff do you think you have? Is it white, flaky, dry? Or is it oily and clumpy at the scalp?
      This could cause you to have those smaller hairs. Sebum can build up and harden in the follicles and make the hairs smaller because they are blocked.

    Hi! Hope u can answer. I have been struggling with TE for 11 months now.. my hair was so long and thick and now I have only one third of it left😣 I am pretty sure it was caused by a hormone IUD because the shedding started 2,5 months after taking it.
    I waited 8 months if the situation calmed down but it didint so I took the IUD out 1,5 months ago. My hair is still shedding. My shedding was really bad for the first 6 months but after that it has slowed down, just a little bit. I have lots of baby hairs all over my head right now but my hair is still falling out, and the most scary thing is seeing those babyhairs fall 😣😣 does the situation get better after removing the cause (IUD) and how long does the hair take to react to hormone changes? I really cant handle with this shedding anymore😵‍💫

    Hi, I haven’t been diagnosed yet but Im pretty sure I have telogen effluvium and my doctor didn’t give me anything insightful because my iron and thyroid levels are good. It’s the stress from college and I noticed that I started losing a lot of hair after I started sleeping at irregular times ( 3am, 2am, 2:30am, etc). It’s been 2 years now and I have less than half of the hair that I used to have. I’m still very young and I have tried taking a lot of hair vitamins and the shampoos I’ve been using are made with biotin and collagen. Im not sure its working because recently I have been noticing sparse and almost bald areas on the top part of my scalp. My hairline is already really bad and it’s really wide. I’m losing a lot of confidence in myself and the way I look due to my hair :( I was wondering what recommendations you have to help with the hair regrowth process and how to stop hair from falling out. Also what brand shampoo do you recommend and what essential oils do you recommend and how do you use it?

      Do you feel like it was caused by your color treatments?
      I know that having your ferretin (iron) levels and vitamin D checked would be good. Alot of dr.'s will tell you that your ferretin is normal (12 -150) but it really needs to be around 70 for hair growth. Please ask your dr. For the exact number on this.
      Please start taking a hair, skin and nail vitamin with Collagen every day. This will make a huge impact on the amount of hairs you are losing a day.

      Thank you 🙏 I stopped using it weeks ago so I hope it will stop shedding g and breaking and regrow. Should I see a dermatologist or would that be futile? Which hair vitamins would you recommend! I’m taking biotin orally and using biotin shampoo and conditioner. Not so concerned by the breaking but would the chemicals on the actual scalp making those hairs that came out with the white bulb on the end make the loss of THOSE hairs permanent and unable to grow back?

  • @sherakes
    @sherakes 5 років тому

    Thank you for the information! I started noticing heavy shedding in June, which continued into September. I’m shedding less now, but my density hasn’t returned. I’m having trouble identifying my exact trigger. Any tips?
    Some possibilities...
    I began a low-androgen triphasic birth control pill in March (discontinued in July due to possible trigger for the hair loss). I also had a fainting/vomiting episode in February when doing a HIT workout. In March, I had a muscle strain that I went to PT for. At this time, i started to eat more calories and exercising regularly. I also had a few UTIs during this time, which I took antibiotics for.

    • @tabithafhair
      @tabithafhair  5 років тому +1

      Hi Hannah! Sorry you have had so many things going on, but it sounds like it was probably the hormones from the birth control. This just happened to me this year when I had an IUD put in. We are just hormone sensitive.
      Which is a good thing to keep in mind for the future.
      It takes a couple of months for those hairs to kick back into the growth phase and start seeing hair.
      Remember hair grows very slow. Get on a good hair, skin & nail vitamin & hair growing shampoo. Get your protein intake in as well and your vitamin D.
      I do have more information that I am always posting on my IG @tabithahairstylist

      Misguided Lights Wow! Thank you for sharing your experience. I noticed hair loss in those areas too! I am also shedding significantly less. When I wash my hair (every 2-4 days) I shed 100-200 hairs I would say (depending on the time since my last wash). My baby hairs along my crown are growing but I’m waiting to return to my full density. I am on a multivitamin and 5000 mg of biotin. That’s awesome that iron pills support your hair health and general well-being around your cycle. May I ask if your cycles are regular? I battle with extreme irregularity. I can bleed every two weeks, though I’m not sure if I am actually ovulating or if this is just uterine lining shedding. Being a woman is complicated!

    • @sherakes
      @sherakes 4 роки тому

      Misguided Lights I also heard that it will take around 2 years to return to full density. All we can do is focus on nutrition and scalp health to destress and provide a good foundation for regrowth, I suppose. Please let me know how the onion and garlic hair mask works for you. Coconut oil makes my already oily scalp too greasy. I have also lost around 30-40% of my hair. It’s pretty wild how similar our stories are. Which pill were you on? I was on tri-lo-sprintec.

      Misguided Lights WHAT?! Okay. This makes me feel a lot less crazy. My doctors said I must be extra sensitive to hormones because it’s a very low androgenic. I will have to try this hair mask. I am so glad that you are doing better and it is super hard to keep your stress down.
      Yes! The hair does come back. So after the hair falls out in the Telogen phase a new hair is automatically being grown underneath it.
      I know it is hard but try to think about ALL the new hair coming back than the hair that is in your hands.
      It seems to help alot of my clients from stressing to much. Just make sure you are doing everything to keep the scalp healthy inside & out.
      In my salon we use XTC products. But if you can't find them at a local salon make sure you get a good quality hair skin & nail vitamin from a natural food store.

I am a licensed hairdresser and I always knew to tell my clients about stress, thyroid, rapid weight loss, etc. My concern is how long is this going to last. I had my hair cut up to my shoulders to help but my entire disposition has lowered my self esteem. I was wondering if I could dye my hair. I also am on vitamins, biotin, collegan and fish oil. I know my nutrition was poor in the first 2 months after surgery but now I am really feeling great but my hair, UGH. I started to put a satin cap over my hair to sleep and that has helpled. And it puts so much stress on my body.I also had a high viral fever in mid October. Now I have a very thin hair and I have dandruff too. Plus my hair now are lesser at the top partitions till the back of the crown, also on the sides and the on the hairline as well. HI!
      Usually the changes in the texture of the hair happens inside the body and scalp.
      Usually (not always)brittle, coarse hair is the sign of thyroid. Have you had your hormones & thyroid checked?
      Also, your scalp could be dehydrated. Something is messing with the oil production & the hair follicle.Do you use rogaine or have any scalp conditions? These can dehydrate the scalp & change your texture.

      I am so sorry for your losses. I cant even imagine your strength.
      This is your factor.
      Stress does alot to your body. Your body is super smart. During stress your body is using all of its energy to protect your vital organs. Our hair is not a vital organ😔
      When our body is under stress, our gut has a hard time absorbing vitamin B. This is essential for hair growth.
      Keep taking your hair vitamin. Get some vital protein marine Collagen and take that every day as well. Start eating foods high in vitamin B. Try meditation or yoga to keep that stress down( easy for me to say, right?) You can do it!
      The shedding should start to slow down 3 months after it started.
      Remember your hair is growing new hair already so you will have alot of baby hairs coming in.

    Hello can you please please tell me how to know when you have T.E?

    • @tabithafhair
      @tabithafhair  4 роки тому

      You Naturally lose 50-100 hairs per day. If you feel like you are losing more than that or are seeing Alot of hair in your brush or when you run your fingers through your hair & see many hairs come out at once you probably you have TE.
      TE is a noticeable change in hairs coming out.

  • @HealthywithAmy
    @HealthywithAmy 5 років тому +1

    I just ended my second bought with TE. This time it lasted 7 mos. This time was much worse. It has begun to regrow, very slowly, but 2 small areas are still showing very thin/bald areas. I am hoping that changes in the next few months. This is a painful condition to endure.

      It is soooo frustrating isnt it?
      Do you have a trichologist near you that could look at the patches under a microscope?
      Because if there are active follicles you could try a topical vitamin or even a hand held laser.
      I have seen great results with both.
      Keep taking a good hair, skin and nail vitamin & add in some Marine Collagen. To get those hairs to produce and grow a little faster so you can see them sooner.
      Good luck girl.
      Let me know what works for you!

      Hi,
      I have read a little about topical onion and how it is beneficial but do not have any other material on it.
      Sometimes when those hair follicles are getting cleaned out from build up, you can have a little more shedding to start before it helps. Cell turn over is every other day.. so I would only do it every other day and see if your shedding slows down. I hope it helps😊

    Hello, this past month I have used a shampoo from the drugstore that caused my hair to start shedding more than normal, not in clumps, but a lot of strands coming out in the shower and easily when I brushed it. I researched the shampoo and there are hundreds of reviews of people having the same issue. I don’t know if this would be classified as TE or just a period of shedding due to the shampoo. but I recently stopped using it about two weeks ago and so I’m hoping my hair will stop shedding soon. I got the vitafusion gummies for hair skin and nails and I’m also doing a mask once a week. Any thoughts?

    • @tabithafhair
      @tabithafhair  5 років тому

      Hi there,
      I do not think this is TE if you started noticing right after you started the shampoo. Alot of drugstore shampoos are not what they say, that is why you always want to purchase from a salon or Ulta.
      This happened to one of my clients who bought shampoo from TJ Max. It was full of bacteria & caused an inflammation on the scalp or it was something that your body was allergic to.
      Do you have sores or bumps on your scalp? Do they itch?
      If not, I would get a scalp shampoo with tea tree oil in it & use that for awhile to help eliminate any bacteria. If you have bumps or sores you might need something stronger like a cortisone cream or a shampoo with ketoconazole in it.
      Keep consistent with the vitamins. Your doing it right😉

    • @marissalynn123
      @marissalynn123 5 років тому

      TabithaFHair I do not have any rash or anything on my scalp, just some dandruff. The shampoo did a good job of making my hair soft and shiny, but for some reason there is something in it that is making people’s hair fall out. Do you know how long this shedding will last? It’s been almost 3 weeks and I’m still losing hair in the shower. Not so much during the day when it’s dry.

    • @tabithafhair
      @tabithafhair  5 років тому

      @@marissalynn123 I would start using a hair growing shampoo like Nioxin or Zenagen & you will see alot less shedding. Some people have reported extra shedding for 3 - 6 weeks when this happens. It should slow down soon.

      Vit D can definitely cause increased hair shedding. My dr stated this. My level was at a 13. I shed a lot or hair. I was placed on prescription Vit D 50,000IU weekly for 4 months then switched over to OTC vit D3. It will take time because hair is not vital for life, so when you take any supplement or vitamins it will go to where it’s needed inside your body first, your hair will always be the last to get the nutrients. Also vitamin D functions more like a hormone for your body. If you are experiencing shedding as a result of a vitamin deficiency, you’ve had it for a while and you’re just now seeing the result of this if you’re hair is now coming out. Again, because you hair is the last thing to experience the effects as well as the nutrient uptake.
