  • I needed to make a bunch of brackets for client. The easiest was to bulk make anything that needs to be the same is to have a jig. Tedious work, but needed to get done.

Jimbo, I think you're wrong!!!, all the jobs are interesting, even showing how to cut a profile is interesting and you learn, not only the big projects are worth it but also the small ones, you get ideas and how to approach the manufacturing of an element , I have a lot of fun with your videos, whether they are big or small projects, you always come up with an idea and learn¡¡¡¡¡ 👌👍

I wish you would film all of the projects that come through your shop. I've watched every video on your channel, almost three times over. Can't get enough!

Great little video Jimbo! And as the others have pointed out, just as valuable as the other quality videos. Keep 'em coming Jimbo.

Whenever i drill tubing like that I love using a step bit, when possible. Even in a drill press. Drill and countersink in one step. As long as the layout is consistent the holes lineup good

reminder that on the mill you can easily just setup material stops that will let you set it in bump it up to the stop and then drill. once setup, no need to run the table out of position, or stop and sharpie mark the whole project. if you always do these more or less this way you can make a custom flip stop that handles both positions, bolts down to a marked position on the table.

    Here's a trick for you.
Get some 2x2 angle and drill holes for big bolts that fit into the table holes (same size).
Then you can bolt down the angle iron and push and clamp to it. Even finger tight works as the bolt head would rest against the metal upright and not turn.
Can be table length for one and shorter for others. makes a better back-stop then just something that sits against stops.

How about making different collars to fit over your table dogs so that you can introduce the 3/16” offset using them as you need?

or just use that lathe to make one custom stop that does the job, and powder coat that sucker bright orange with a 3/16 stamp on top so you don't mix it in to regular use. it will also be prettier on video.

The mess that saw puts off is terrible. I put some magnetic sheets under and behind mine. Helps a lot. Still clean up but not as bad

Stop blocks maybe for stock 45 cuts (rotate tube 180 for next end cut) and hole drilling locations? My .02 cents only.
