DCEU movies ranked 1. Zack Snyder's Justice League (now this is the Justice League movie that we deserved after that crappy mess that we got back in 2017. Despite it being four hours long, the story itself was pretty great. Steppenwolf was a much better villain here and every member of the Justice League, especially with Cyborg, got their moment to shine) 2. Aquaman (rather the most comic accurate of all the live action DC films with a solid story, great music, visuals, characters, and action as well as the hero's journey of the titular character in Aquaman) 3. Man of Steel (a really good reimagining of Superman with a great origin story, action, music, visuals, and villain in Zod) 4. Wonder Woman (a good origin story for the titular character as Gal Gadot does a great job in the role, but Ares is easily the worst part of the film) 5. The Suicide Squad (definitely an improvement over its predecessor as it has a more interesting storyline, good use of characters, and pretty good comedy) 6. Shazam! (a good solo film for this character with a lighthearted tone. My only problem with this film is that i think the comedy is a bit too much) 7. Wonder Woman 1984 (while there are certainly some problems in the writing, i still overall enjoyed this film as Gal Gadot continues to shine in the titular role and her chemistry with Chris Pine was spot on. I also like the message of this film as it pretty much was good timing to hear it during this yearlong disease) 8. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (unnecessary storylines in this movie that really should not be in for a second film of this universe along with Lex Luthor being horribly potrayed. Despite that, this was rather a good introduction for Batman and Wonder Woman as well as having great visuals and action) 9. Birds of Prey (if this is a film mainly about the titular team, WHY is Harley Quinn the overall main character of the film? I don't get that at all. The story, characters, action, and villains were fine, but nothing really special) 10. Suicide Squad (this movie really just tells an uninteresting story of the titular team with a forgettable main villain. Not to mention the fact that Joker was also horribly potrayed like Lex Luthor)
DCEU main villains ranked 1. Ocean Master (the most comic accurate of all the main villains in this list in terms of his costume and his motivations as Patrick Wilson does a good job in the role) 2. Zod (a great villian with such an understandable motivation to keep his people safe as well as wanting to bring back his home planet) 3. Steppenwolf (after watching the Snyder Cut, we finally got a much better good looking design of Steppenwolf with clearer motivations. As such, he turned out to be a pretty good villain that the Justice League has encountered) 4. Thaddeus Sivana (a good potrayal of the character that serves as a dark parallel to Billy Batson) 5. Starro (really surprised on how James Gunn adapts this character onto the big screen. Although i think he should have gotten more screentime, i overall like Starro's design and the conflict he brings to the film with his spores) 6. Thinker (while not as good as Neil Sandilands' potrayal of the Thinker, i say that Peter Capaldi did a fairly decent job in the role and i like how he was connected to Starro) 7. Maxwell Lord (although it would've been better to have Cheetah as the big bad of WW84, but overall Maxwell Lord was a fine villain who has made more of a presence and character development in his own film than Ares) 8. Ares (he had some good dialogue and action scenes, but he lacks character development in the fact that it was so random for Sir Patrick Morgan to be revealed as Ares. Not to mention the fact that Ares' design does not look anything like his comic book counterpart) 9. Black Mask (Ewan McGregor does fine in the role, but Black Mask really shouldn't have been killed) 10. Lex Luthor (although i kinda like how crazy and hyper Lex Luthor is, this is obviously not what the character is supposed to be and Jesse Eisenberg was more suited to be the Riddler of the DCEU) 11. Enchantress (not an interesting villain at all)
@@Neyodip The Suicide Squad was a good film, but I'm just not a fan of comedy films and Aquaman basically made the titular character WAY more relatable and interesting than he ever was in general
The entire cast of this movie was amazing, but a huge shoutout should be given to Daniela Melchior as Ratcatcher 2. She was the breakout star of this movie.
Fun Fact. Harley Quinn grabbing the keys with her toes, and then unlocking her cuffs, was 100% Margot. No stuntwoman or wires. James Gunn said his biggest regret, is that her face gets covered and you can't tell its actually her for the entire scene, cause he said it was mesmerizing watching her do it herself, without wires or a stuntwoman.
Lol, that’s like Sigourney Weaver hitting the “toss the basketball up with her back to the basket and swish it” moment in Aliens 3. Iirc, she managed to do it the first try and you can see Ron Pearlman in the background break character as he starts going nuts. The director decided to use the footage even with Pearlman cracking up because it was just too good.
I was most amazed by Cena's ability to not only act as a brilliant comedic presence, but also has enough physical presence to command the screen when he double-crosses the team and seem intimidating as hell. He did a hell of a job. Polkadot Man and Ratcatcher were two characters I was surprised by too; they're wonderful characters. Reworking Flagg into a laid back and charismatic presence helped a lot too. The individual work was super solid all the way through and every actor killed it.
I liked that his humor being just slightly off is foreshadowing that he really is that fanatical and also the only one who doesn't seem to mind being on the mission. When we see him in his cell he's even standing at attention and follows Waller instead of the "mission leader".
I thought peacemaker would have been a complete joke of a character especially with John Cena playing him. By the end, I completely bought him and his character as a legit threat to the rest of the squad. Brilliant movie I stand by that.
Whilst I loved Harley's corridor fight, the Bloodsport vs Peacekeeper fight was absolutely the best action scene in the movie for me. Such a visceral struggle between two evenly matched opponents.
King Shark laughing and happily saying “new dumb friends” running around the aquarium is one of the most wholesome things I’ve seen. He must be protected at all costs. So precious
@@maverickpierre8259 but can you get angry at him though when he just goes: Ratcatcher 2: "Ohh Your gonna wear a disguise?" King Shark: "Si" Ratcatcher 2: "What kind of Disguise?" King Shark: "Fake Mustache"
He doesn't really need protection, does he? I mean, he fell from a 10 story building and got thrown into a building by a giant monster and shrugged it off both times.
When Peacemaker used the hatchet on the dude laying down in the rebels camp I just about died laughing in the theater lmao the way he just casually chops up the dude from his feet to chest was just perfection
It was amazing I seen so many people complaining about that scene saying it was disgusting and unfunny. That was one of my favorite scenes it reminded me of some tarrantino shit when they realized they killed the good guys😂
My favorite part was “peacemaker...what a joke” almost seems like a joker line. Who would’ve knew that the character who had the least emotional residence with the audience in the first movie would have the most impactful death scene
@@GeeklyGoods the movie is even divided into comic book chapters. It’s just amazing. It was never meant to be treated like a normal movie since it was the closest to a comic to movie adaptation o have ever seen.
@@herloss448 if you're talking about Snyder, I don't think you're looking very far. If you're talking about Ayer, the film he was forced to release isn't what he wanted. And in both cases WB messed with their visions. But not James Gunns whose film is literally praised for being a complete vision.
Have to disagree with some of y’all about James Gunn/the movie not giving us a reason to care about these characters… they were given so much depth and development that I couldn’t help but care for all of the main members of the team. Rick Flag was improved in every way, Polka Dot Man’s origin with his mom experimenting on him, Rat Catcher losing her loving dad/seeing the good in people/rats, King Shark being an outsider/alone, Blood Sport’s ruthless nature stemming from his dad’s treatment of him, and even Peacemaker’s idea of keeping the peace no matter the cost was perfectly written imo.
I think that was mainly Rick who brought it up and the others were simply defending the film while also being open to what he’s says. Rick is always super nitpicky, that’s just him lol
Birds of Prey was prolly her best portrayal. I didn't really like her subplot in this one. Plus she had some extremely cringey lines "I had to go number two" , "The angels are splooging all over us"
"I was happy. Floating, staring at the stars" Starro's last line was very haunting for me. It reminded me a lot of animal captivity. They were happy at their habitat, minding their own business, enjoying the space and following nature and the course of life take over them until humans decided to own them like they're some kind of property. Then they abuse and hurt them just because they can. Sorry for the long rant lol I just really loved that bit.
I wonder if Waller was trying to betray Flag by putting him on the sacrifice team. Like she knew he was starting to grow a conscience and having moral objections to the missions and what the team does. So Waller put him on Team A in the hopes of getting rid of him. He just happened to survive and make it to the lab.
James Gunn confirmed there was a flashback scene that was cut where Flag actually pisses off Waller by making fun of her shirt in front of the underlings who laugh at his joke. She puts him on the team as a combination of spite and because she knows he's losing his patience with the dirty work, confirming that Team 1 was made up of people she hated and thought were expendable.
Agreed. Everyone on that team was 100% expendable. If she wanted any of them to survive she would have put a better team together, they were only meant as distractions. The only reason she wanted to rescue Flag AT ALL was to make sure she kept tabs on him and had Peacemaker watch over him during the rest of the mission. If Flag was alone he'd be a risk to leaking everything out.
@@hayleycool4028 Why does Waller, a woman who operates primarily with the idea of being able to control people, dislike one of the most unpredictable and chaotic people known to man? Your guess is as good as mine.

I do disagree with Rick, I think this film has so much heart. The little choices they made to the characters gave them so much depth to me. Like Bloodsport being presented as this badass but he’s scared of rats, and has his own “daddy issues” which leads into him being a terrible father. Ratcatcher 2 being sleepy and lazy all the time, as well as caring about all her teammates made her really endearing. And I loved the relationship between Bloodsport and Ratchatcher 2, they had a really great dynamic and she made him care more about the team. Ratcatcher 1’s speech about if rats have purpose then we all do, really got me
Yeah I was wondering why they didn't feel the same u did man. They had 0 reaction to those little heartfelt moments 🤷🏽♂️ but it's cool it got the ppl like us in the feels 👌
is it just me or does Rick just not like thing's that aren't anime? Like I love his anime reactions and his analyses for anime, but I always feel like he's way off the mark for anything live-action
Personally having Captain Boomerang die was the perfect way to show the audience "Anyone could die" (Apart from Harley) even though it hurt that it really was the point of the Suicide Squad.
@@cellsplitter6192 Now why tf would he do that. I hope that doesnt happen. The suicide squad is supposed to be made of people that die. They have to live up to their name and be R rated. I dont want any of the kid shit where people come back from outta nowhere. That would ruin the heaviness of character deaths. Gotta appreciate each suicide squad member while they are on screen because each second may be their last. That's the special uniqueness of suicide squad, dont try to take that away.
@@futuretrunks9257 If a character dies brutally, but gets brought back, that doesn't exactly make it PG. And bringing characters back to life isn't "kid shit" at all. Its only kid shit if said character is brought back for no good reason, or doesn't have a good explanation as to how said character is brought back. DC could do something similar to how Marvel did with Loki. Boomerang comes back through Flash Point but because of something he does himself not because the Flash purposely goes out to save him. I think that would be cool and a non "kid shit" way of bringing him back. And you make it seem like if one character comes back that it means every character gets brought back or that every character has a chance of getting brought back, but that really isn't the case at all. Bringing one Suicide Squad character back in a completely different movie, doesn't "ruin the point of the suicide squad". The point of the Suicide Squad is that a lot of the members end up dying, and bringing Captain Boomerang back doesn't change that. The only case of what you're thinking of, happening, is if they did another Flash Point movie after every Suicide Squad movie, and that's obviously not the case.
@@lilsavage9946 Bro suicide squad members should stay dead so the intensity of the suicide squad remains. I dont care how the reason, they should stay dead. Too many times in comic book media where dead people come back to life, that's happened so many times. I prefer doing something new like having alot of characters die for good. Thata literally the whole point of suicide squad. I wouldnt mind seeing them in Flashpoint universe though since that's a whole different timeline but in the main timeline everyone that dies should remain dead. Having people die on screen and come back is wack asf for a R rated movie. Your talking about kid friendly Marvel and I'm just trying to keep the suicide squad grounded and gritty. As good of a character Boomerang is, I think I speak for many when I say suicide squad should be a franchise of people dying without coming back, like the source material.
@@futuretrunks9257 Again, when did I say that everyone was going to get brought back? When did I say that every Suicide Squad member isn't going to stay dead? For some unknown reason you seem to think that "Captain Boomerang is back, oh so they pretty much just revived the entire suicide squad?" Also wtf is up with you and Marvel? You act is if Marvel movies can't be gruesome(and I mean have you not watched any Dead Pool movie? It seems like your problem is with the MCU not Marvel) and you're acting as if a character dying a bloody gorey death but being brought back to life suddenly makes it PG. Do you even know what rated R or gritty means? And no, what they actually mean, not what they mean in your head. Think logically for a second. How would bringing Boomerang back in Flash Point get rid of the intensity of the suicide squad? Every suicide squad character can still die for good at any moment, the intensity is still there. And unlike Boomerang, they can't get brought back unless there's another Flash Point movie or if there's another DC movie about time travel, which will likely not be happening. And the only reason I'm even suggesting Boomerang specially to be brought back in Flash Point, is because unlike the others, he's actually a villain of the Flash.
I disagree on the guy saying he doesn't care for the characters, I feel like that was the biggest strength of the movie. I was much more invested in a guy who shoots polka dots, a shark man, and a lady who controls rats, than most of the mcu characters.
And there you have it ..... the typical Marvel hater who doesn't miss a single chance to talk about how shit Marvel is even if it has nothing to do with the subject ... seriously, you guys are boring.
@@Ninox32tgretwh Yeah, it’s really weird how people feel like they need to bring down a franchise (which in this case has been undeniably successful and impactful to a lot of people) to bring up another franchise (which has been absolutely butchered besides a handful of its films) It’s stupid.

@@KS-qc3pr I think both films will be great (NWH already is) but I can’t wait to see The Batman. I’m more of a marvel guy myself but I’m not your stereotypical fanboy. I’m way more connected to the individual characters than I am the universe and as of right now, Marvel is doing way better in that regard.
I can't believe I actually felt sorry for Polka Dot Man. The CGI people behind King Shark deserve some awards for the job they did, they went above and beyond in the design to change how light would show on his skin due to the dermal denticles and to include the ampullae of lorenzini under his nose and across his cheeks. I've seen a few Sharks done in CG by people that have ignored the smaller aspects of Shark anatomy and it ruins them, but in this case they've done an amazing job.
@impishDCfan85 85 I mean, he was meant to be Deadshot. But Will couldn't return, so they improved and morphed the character into Bloodsport, who is acted better than Deadshot. Plus I think it helped the film. Deadshot wouldn't have a romance with Ratcatcher, nor a fear of rats, so that's already an interesting plotline cut if it was Deadshot.

I loved the look on all your faces right before Polka-Dot Man died, that was me watching this the first time, so obvious what was coming and so sad when it happened, but at least he went out finally happy about his existence and he got some damage in on Starro. Also if you haven't already watched the video IGN posted with David Dastmalchian talking about his DC roles I'd highly recommend it, not just because he's a great actor but he also talked about how dealing with the skin condition vitiligo his whole life added to playing the role of Polka-Dot Man, and that makes me appreciate his performance even more than I already did.
@@damonestephens8722 I can get that, I was surprised how much Flag's death hit since I didn't care about him in the first film compared to this one, but Polka-Dot Man's death I found sadder since he was easily the most tragic character. Despite the dark humor to his death, which I agree definitely was there, he had an entire life of nothing but pain and misery, and found no value in himself, only to finally change that seconds before he dies. Either way I'm glad only he and Flag were the big deaths out of the main seven squad members since they were both very emotional and impactful deaths, which I don't think would've been the case if say only two characters lived.
yea I kinda felt the deaths were coming...I mean it's pretty clearly who would survive in the end....well for the most part. And whenever someone was able to get shot or killed there's this weird sense of pause like something is about to happen lol. Idk if that's just me having too much experience with movies and tv shows.
@@tauhid9983 Yeah I get that with a lot of things I watch, there was that definite moment of 'okay here it comes, they're dead' but at least it was impactful, Polka-Dot Man's death I saw coming a mile away but I was still pissed and sad once it happened. I can overlook the slight predictability with his and Flag's deaths since they were still impactful both to the audience and the characters in the film, Harley and Bloodsport both grieved for Flag and Ratcatcher 2 not only gets a full shot grieving Abner, but I'm pretty sure she carries that piece of his costume all the way till the very end when they're on the transport, I appreciated that detail.
I disagree with Rick. I really cared about the characters in the third act, and Ratcatcher and Bloodsport were so brilliant. I actually think it succeeded more in making me care about characters than making me laugh.
Even the ones who died in the beginning had enough character in their actions or dialogue to give you an idea of who they were so they weren't interchangeable. Blackguard is a D-Bag who likes to mess with people and is ultimately out for himself, but doesn't think things through (Even if he didn't get shot in the face, Waller would have just activated his bomb). Mongal is all about fighting and totally fearless, but she acts before she thinks and that ends with her not only causing the most collateral damage, but gets herself and Boomer the messiest deaths in movie. TDK is a guy who's completely unaware of just how limiting and borderline useless his power is in a combat situation to the point of being shockingly confident. Javelin is a flirt, but friendly and seems to take his impeding death in stride and passes on his weapon to someone he trusts even though he only met them a few hours ago. And Savant is a guy who's in control until things go completely off the rails and causes him to snap under the stress and try to escape by any means even when it's clear there's no way out. Also if those snippets of his file hold any weight he suffers from PTSD which really wasn't a good fit for this kinda mission. And Weasel is...a borderline animal in his mentality and behavior. Basically what you see is what you get.
Fun fact that not many people notice. During the scene where Polka-Dot Man says that his mother is "Everywhere", it even effects Sebastian. He's wearing a tiny pair of mom glasses. Edit: As a bonus fun fact, at around 24:30 you can hear the sound of "boom. Boom. BOOM", caused by Bloodsport riding the concrete slab down the floors.
Oddly enough, I tried it and the eight minutes earlier scene DOES sync almost perfectly. If you put the movie side-by-side with itself, and play one of the movies 8 minutes before Peacemaker is about to shoot Ratcatcher 2 (with this side following Peacemaker, Ratcatcher 2, and Rick Flag), and play the other movie at exactly the "8 minutes earlier" mark (this side following Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, and Polka-Dot Man), they'll end up in the same place: with Bloodsport falling just in time to save Ratcatcher 2 (not perfectly, but definitely close!). It's very satisfying and so cool to watch
I like how this reminds us that Harley is insane but she was also a doctor and VERY smart. The small details like her being aware of the explosives shows that.
a lot of why harley feels a lot more harley is margot robbie has gotten a lot more control over the character direction shout out to her for doing most of the stunts herself too!
Fun fact: 3:10 It was confirmed that Savant was arrested and sent to Belle Reve after being defeated by Black Canary, so killing the bird could be a reference to his anger towards her
The rescue of Harley Quinn would have been an amazing scene if the trailer didn’t spoil that. Other than that, I had no problems with the film. Absolutely loved it. John Cena isn’t a perfect actor, but damn did he do great in this film. You could barely see the hints of what he would later do earlier in the film, and he sudden twist shook me. It wasn’t even like a “No I’m the bad guy” twist, it was just a character who’s “morals” got in the way. Great writing.
Something that this movie did very well and I think that we all tend to forget is that these are villains they're not meant to be heroes they're not meant to be the good guys I mean King shark ripped a man in half that doesn't mean they can't have good qualities I mean they're still human but fundamentally these are bad people. Peacemaker wants to have peace it's just that he doesn't care how it's achieved he doesn't care how much blood and violence it takes as long as it's achieved it doesn't really matter making him technically a villain
The beach scene for me really set the tone especially with Boomerangs death which showed that no one was safe. Everyone dying on the beach felt like the comics where anyone could die because they’re disposable
Funny thing is, that squad wasn’t even meant to die like that. Waller just wanted them to be a distraction. If Black Guard hadn’t sold them out they may have actually made it.
Watching Eric’s reactions to stuff I wasn’t really a fan of the first time watching it has turned me around on some (not all) stuff. His enthusiasm and enjoyment is infectious and seeing his joy has let me engage my suspension of disbelief and lean into the schlock.
Flag's death hurt so much, man. But every character in the second task force was so great, Flag was my favorite but Bloodsport and Ratcatcher 2 were definitely the standout characters.
Think this was the role that really cemented John Cena as a legit good actor for me. He's had his performances in other films that were great, but still always saw him as "John Cena" and never the character he was playing. This film though, he sucked me into Peacemaker
I think Rick and I fundamentally enjoy movies and tv storytelling completely differently. For him, everything needs to make sense and be explained, but for me, the reason why this movie works so well for me is because it gives into its own premise completely and wholeheartedly. It embraces its own ridiculousness and Gunn knows how to turn that up to 11, which makes him such a fun and stylistically pleasing filmmaker. I always feel like I’m on Eric’s side of discussions because we find it easier to enjoy media than overly critique it.
As much as I like Rick he seems to be confused about a movie called The Suicide Squad having lots of character deaths in it. It reminds me of where he panned Battle of the Bastards because Jon's military tactics were not well thought out. When that was literally the whole point of that character - he was a great soldier but not an especially intelligent one.
I like Rick, but he always try to make things realistic, not enjoy for what it is. I'm not a comic book reader, but I enjoyed the movie. He always wants it to make sense, which he does for every TV or movie shows he's watched, it's a bit annoying for me though but I guess that's just who Rick is. I still love their reactions.
@@adacc4708 I feel like those who went into the film hoping for it to be realistic didnt enjoy it, I get why people would think that way, since if that's the way you always think about a film, u would think about this film in that way..but this just isnt that kinda film!!
@@adacc4708 After hearing about how much he loves some of the more ridiculous elements of Berserk and also about his love for the game The MISSING, I don't think that's how Rick is at all. Generally, I agree with him on that sentiment, but I also love crazy absurdist stuff.
To Aaron, What?!?! Starro wasn’t treated as a twist reveal or anything; it just was the main threat of the movie. I didn’t get mad at Thor: Ragnarok's trailers for showing Hela or at Spider-Man: Homecoming for showing the Vulture. If it had shown Peacemaker fighting Rick Flag (in a prominent way) or something, then yeah it would be a spoiler, but just showing the main threat in your movie in a trailer? How is that a spoiler? In terms of character deaths, there’s no way to market this movie without showing who lives and who dies… at least they did kill everyone off quickly instead of trying to make you feel tense about who’d live and who’d die. And then complainint in about jokes? Well, let's see here… the trailers aren't allowed to show the villain; they aren't allowed to show the deaths; they aren't allowed to show the character scenes because then it would hint at who lives and who dies? WHAT CAN THE TRAILERS SHOW?!?! Aside from Harley's escape (which I will admit is kind of a spoiler), I'd say the trailers did a pretty good job of not spoiling stuff that actually mattered: Peacemaker, deaths in the core cast, character arcs. Aaron honestly should just stop doing trailer reactions so he can go into movies completely blind.
Yeah, no trailer reactions would be good. (But they probably draw a lot of people to the channel. And they are not that bad to watch, if I´m being honest.) I gotta disagree with Rick and Aaron. Aside from the Starro reveal, I don't believe the Trailers showed too much. Especially not too much of the jokes. I watched all the trailers and still was laughing the whole movies. I also really loved the characters and felt for them. I watched this movie at home with my dad and him and I both started laughing when the fish latched onto him. I was also kinda scared at the idea of him dying to the fishes, the way King Shark's expression was in that moment just made me laugh
This movie was great. I enjoyed the shit out the movie. The editing was great, the fights was great, the characters that where meant to be cared about where great. I cared for Harley, Flag, Bloodsport, King shark, RC2 and Polka. Sad boomer, flag and polka dot man died tho. The best review I saw for this film was "so *that's* they were trying to do with the other one!" James Gunn does such a good job getting you to care about a character you just met. I love that Bloodsport doesn't feel like carbon copy of Deadshot, even though thematically he is. I wish that Starro wasn't spoiled in the trailers. I also wish the Justice League would have shown up and stopped Starro (like that famous cover), taking the win from the Squad, and continuing the outcasts and losers aspect of the team.
i usually don’t understand the rick hate comments in other reactions, but in this its 100% justified, rick was so negative during this movie even though it was really good, and most of the jokes were not in the trailer, i would have to agree with eric at most it was 1/3. movie was funny as hell and i enjoyed it all the way through. my second favorite dceu movie after man of steel
@@Lmauoo90 i might’ve used the wrong wording, don’t get me wrong i like rick as much as i like everyone in blindwave, but i’m reading the comments and i see a lot of people not liking rick in this reaction and i understand why, just felt like he hated the movie not because it was bad but because he didn’t wanna give it a chance.
It’s not hate imo, he just brings down the entire reaction and vibe of the group. Imagine always watching movies and shows with someone who only ever complains or sits there and judges it negatively the entire time. It gets tiring. Especially when you know from the start he won’t like it. At this point, I don’t see why he joins in on comic book movies and shows.
8:52 Fun fact: The character Sean Gunn plays here is actually the villain Calendar Man, as evidenced by the months of the year tattooed on his head, which is a significant aspect in various interpretations of the character.
@@Dom_510 "He doesnt understand the characters" Dude who tf mentioned Snyder here?? Literally no one. The guy was telling that DCEU didnt have to do solo movies first if the team up movie ends up being good. You just brought up Snyder which is far from what he was saying, only because you're obsessed by him. Plus if you atleast tried watching the Snyder cut, you would know how much he understood those characters.
@@Dom_510 have you seen the Snyder cut for the justice league? it's very solid, nothing to do with the original justice league film. Also, Watchmen is one of the best movie adaptations of a comic book.
Fun fact: what happens to Rick Flag at Jotunenheim is actually from a Suicide Squad comic. Except in the comic version, it's him and a Terrorist leader. This was such a fun movie. I saw it when it came out in the UK at the end of July, and it's easily become one of my favourite comic book movies. Ratcatcher 2 was the standout for me, which is a surprise given Harley Quinn's my favourite in everything. But Daniela Melchior was fantastic as Ratcatcher 2. Did you guys notice the Guardians of the Galaxy cameo in the nightclub scene?
For those who missed some: James Gunn {Director and MoCap for some Groot scenes} Stakar Ogord {Guardians 2} Heimdall {Thor movies and several other MCU entries} Yondu Odonto {Guardians 1 & 2} Kraglin {Guardians 1 &2 and ?Endgame?} Mantis {Guardians 2/Infinity War/Endgame} Simon Wonder Man Williams {Guardians 2 deleted content & promotional material and M.O.D.O.K.} Kurt {Ant-Man films} Doctor Reyes {The New Mutants} Korg {Thor Ragnarok/Infinity War/Endgame}
I loved how this movie made me really care about these characters, especially the relationship between Ratcatcher 2 and Bloodsport. Also Nanuae and Ratcatcher 2 were adorable in their weird friendship
I expected John Cena to be that one guy that would kill this whole film for me. Margot or Idris really got into character but about halfway through I completely forgot I was watching John Cena as peacemaker. Really well done
they seem to have forgotten that not only was killing the first team used to show that anyone can die in the movie, but it also fits into the plot because they were used as a distraction for the B team
So many weird cameo...TDK is Nathan Fillion, the first Ratcatcher is Taika Waititi...That weasel is of course the brother of James Gunn ! Sylvester Stallone is King Shark. The cast is insane !!!
Nathan might come back with the Peacemaker show as his vitals only ever showed “critical condition” never crossed out as dead. Cause I would love more Nathan Fillion and to see his useless powers put to use lol
People complain about Elba/Bloodsport being interchangeable with Smith/ Deadshot yet this was miles better than that whole storyline in the first. There was potential there but there was just a enough of that in this but not to the point of just coming out of nowhere like in Ayer’s
Its a dumb complaint. Idris Elba is light years more enjoyable than all of will smith's rinse and repeat characters, especially his flat portrayal of deadshot
It was close to me. I liked Bloodsport better, but I thought Deadshot's relationship to his daughter was done much better than Bloodsport's relationship to his daughter. Deadshot's daughter stops him from killing Batman, then he says he wants to become a hero for his daughter and he gets to be proud to face her at the end. In this film, Bloodsport's daughter sees him become a hero but it wasn't as powerful to me as when Deadshot became a hero for his daughter.
@@bettercallmaul5810 yeah but bloodsport’s character arc was MILES above anything the first gave us with dead shot, actually driven arcs and the equipment was insane
To be fair he's not like that in most tv show reactions I have seen him in. I don't think he's always negative. He can have a certain taste and if he doesn't like a movie I liked it's fine!!
I understand having an expected disappointment in all DC movies, but it really felt like Rick was just looking for reasons to dislike the movie. I'm not saying it's a great movie or anything, far from it, but it was at least a turn off your brain and have a good time kinda movie. It just really threw me off seeing everybody else laugh and enjoy it for what it was while he just sits there and shakes his head and frowns at every joke.
I wish he was there when they reviewed the first one when the others bafflingly praised it because his criticisms make sense for that one and not Gunn's movie.
He seems to never let himself just enjoy a movie, as you said, just looking for reasons to dislike the movie. I also feel like he sometimes views stuff in very a black and white way and won't see further than that and don't look at the whole picture. There's so much nitpicking. I think it's good to have someone who have different views than others, but not when that person is the one who's always the most negative about everything.
29:08 - in answer to why Bloodsport's nano grenade launcher is spinning at the end, that final attachment acts as a gyroscope. Those arms serve a very simple purpose: exert a high enough centripetal force that any recoil is nullified and Bloodsport's aim and rate of fire is improved. You can see that in effect when he fires the gun and is able to keep doing so while advancing.
Here we go again. The 3 having negative views on the movie while Eric says he earnestly enjoyed and appreciated all of it. Thank you Eric, I watch for you!
The discussion was so intriguing, I mean that the marketing for this movie must’ve been hard because of the pandemic. That is the the reason for so many trailers and BTS stuff to try and keep people interested in the film.
I don’t know if Rick picked up on it but when the second team landed and saw the explosion in the distance (assuming it was the helicopter or Harleys bazooka), viola Davis said don’t worry about it it’s just a diversion. So team one was acceptable collateral damage in order to complete the mission. Plays on viola Davis’ character on the lengths she would go to. I’d like to see a DC movie about her and why she is so ruthless

DCEU movies ranked
1. Zack Snyder's Justice League (now this is the Justice League movie that we deserved after that crappy mess that we got back in 2017. Despite it being four hours long, the story itself was pretty great. Steppenwolf was a much better villain here and every member of the Justice League, especially with Cyborg, got their moment to shine)
2. Aquaman (rather the most comic accurate of all the live action DC films with a solid story, great music, visuals, characters, and action as well as the hero's journey of the titular character in Aquaman)
3. Man of Steel (a really good reimagining of Superman with a great origin story, action, music, visuals, and villain in Zod)
4. Wonder Woman (a good origin story for the titular character as Gal Gadot does a great job in the role, but Ares is easily the worst part of the film)
5. The Suicide Squad (definitely an improvement over its predecessor as it has a more interesting storyline, good use of characters, and pretty good comedy)
6. Shazam! (a good solo film for this character with a lighthearted tone. My only problem with this film is that i think the comedy is a bit too much)
7. Wonder Woman 1984 (while there are certainly some problems in the writing, i still overall enjoyed this film as Gal Gadot continues to shine in the titular role and her chemistry with Chris Pine was spot on. I also like the message of this film as it pretty much was good timing to hear it during this yearlong disease)
8. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (unnecessary storylines in this movie that really should not be in for a second film of this universe along with Lex Luthor being horribly potrayed. Despite that, this was rather a good introduction for Batman and Wonder Woman as well as having great visuals and action)
9. Birds of Prey (if this is a film mainly about the titular team, WHY is Harley Quinn the overall main character of the film? I don't get that at all. The story, characters, action, and villains were fine, but nothing really special)
10. Suicide Squad (this movie really just tells an uninteresting story of the titular team with a forgettable main villain. Not to mention the fact that Joker was also horribly potrayed like Lex Luthor)
DCEU main villains ranked
1. Ocean Master (the most comic accurate of all the main villains in this list in terms of his costume and his motivations as Patrick Wilson does a good job in the role)
2. Zod (a great villian with such an understandable motivation to keep his people safe as well as wanting to bring back his home planet)
3. Steppenwolf (after watching the Snyder Cut, we finally got a much better good looking design of Steppenwolf with clearer motivations. As such, he turned out to be a pretty good villain that the Justice League has encountered)
4. Thaddeus Sivana (a good potrayal of the character that serves as a dark parallel to Billy Batson)
5. Starro (really surprised on how James Gunn adapts this character onto the big screen. Although i think he should have gotten more screentime, i overall like Starro's design and the conflict he brings to the film with his spores)
6. Thinker (while not as good as Neil Sandilands' potrayal of the Thinker, i say that Peter Capaldi did a fairly decent job in the role and i like how he was connected to Starro)
7. Maxwell Lord (although it would've been better to have Cheetah as the big bad of WW84, but overall Maxwell Lord was a fine villain who has made more of a presence and character development in his own film than Ares)
8. Ares (he had some good dialogue and action scenes, but he lacks character development in the fact that it was so random for Sir Patrick Morgan to be revealed as Ares. Not to mention the fact that Ares' design does not look anything like his comic book counterpart)
9. Black Mask (Ewan McGregor does fine in the role, but Black Mask really shouldn't have been killed)
10. Lex Luthor (although i kinda like how crazy and hyper Lex Luthor is, this is obviously not what the character is supposed to be and Jesse Eisenberg was more suited to be the Riddler of the DCEU)
11. Enchantress (not an interesting villain at all)

But I didn't see John Cena in the movie
Its amazing that Cena can transition from stoic character to suddenly making a goof out of the said character while still being intimidating.

He just happened to survive and make it to the lab.
James Gunn confirmed there was a flashback scene that was cut where Flag actually pisses off Waller by making fun of her shirt in front of the underlings who laugh at his joke. Personally having Captain Boomerang die was the perfect way to show the audience "Anyone could die" (Apart from Harley) even though it hurt that it really was the point of the Suicide Squad.
Hopefully he comes back in the next one, maybe flash could bring him back
@@cellsplitter6192 Now why tf would he do that.

I feel like the rain scene is not talked enough that scene was beautiful, paired with the pixies! It added this raw war feeling to the movie.
It was awesome! A nice moment before slaughtering!
Yes The Pixies was a Perfect choice. Amazing Scene
Weta Digital always deliver
Seriously! The part where he is in the van and looking out the window, that close up is astounding. It really felt realistic

Yeah I thought he was just gonna be a one dimensional dbag through the whole movie. But towards the end he was giving me omni-man/Homelander vibes.
Idris Elba as Bloodsport was the standout for me. All the actor's did great though.
I agree, he could of been generic miltary tough guy but Idris played the straight guy very well.
@impishDCfan85 85 Will Smith can't do anything "better" than Idris Elba.

Naw it was a little funny to me. Flags death the hurt the most
@@damonestephens8722 I can get that, I was surprised how much Flag's death hit since I didn't care about him in the first film compared to this one, but Polka-Dot Man's death I found sadder since he was easily the most tragic character.
I have nothing to add and I love this discussion. Just wanted to drop by and mention that I absolutely loved this movie!
I disagree with Rick. I really cared about the characters in the third act, and Ratcatcher and Bloodsport were so brilliant. I actually think it succeeded more in making me care about characters than making me laugh.
it really was strangely heart warming
W it was amazing
Rick doesn’t like much of anything not sure if I caught something about the movie that he did like
Yeah I was really invested in these characters

That's actually pretty cool. I'll have to watch those two scenes side by side to see how much they sync up
James Gunn, y'all. His timing is so spot on in pacing a movie.
How long until a UA-cam clip syncing them side by side

Amazing writing!!
Its been foreshadowed that Peacemaker was a fanatical psycho at the start of the movie
I've noticed lots of funny moments were spoiled in the trailer.
I didn't watch the trailers and all the tv spots. And I am glad I didn't.
The beach scene for me really set the tone especially with Boomerangs death which showed that no one was safe. Everyone dying on the beach felt like the comics where anyone could die because they’re disposable
Besides Harley as only the Joker or Injustice WW could attempt to even kill her
Well, that’s DC Comics, and yes they’re still the same assholes who have Idris Elba scared of Rats and John Cena in his tighty whitties.
Funny thing is, that squad wasn’t even meant to die like that. Waller just wanted them to be a distraction. If Black Guard hadn’t sold them out they may have actually made it.
I love Eric so much, he just sees the good in everything. What a wholesome man

John Cena as The Peacemaker, the most menacing character of the movie, dude's like the Terminator.
Right? Very physically imposing. That's why we fear so much for Flag when he has to fight him.
I literally had that exact thought lmao. If they ever reboot the Terminator he’s perfect for it.
All hail the pissmaker
Think this was the role that really cemented John Cena as a legit good actor for me. He's had his performances in other films that were great, but still always saw him as "John Cena" and never the character he was playing. This film though, he sucked me into Peacemaker
Is it just me who can’t stand his costume? I can’t take him seriously 😂

I'm entirely in the same camp as Eric. I absolutely loved this movie.
To Aaron,
What?!?!

He can have a certain taste and if he doesn't like a movie I liked it's fine!!
@@Tirllll no he thinks the room is so bad it's funny. He doesn't think it's actually a good movie.
Rick is the only person ive seen not feel attached to the characters im surprised he felt that way
I understand having an expected disappointment in all DC movies, but it really felt like Rick was just looking for reasons to dislike the movie.
It is a great movie tho
Swap Rick for Shane any damn day
@@bomamba9402 I loved The shane era man, but Rick is much more authentic
I swear the actor who played in the dark knight, flash, and any other film is great actor. David dastmalchian is great
29:10 The spinning part at the end helps with recoil control, if anyone wants to know
Tara Strong was NOT Harley Quinn in the animated series. It was Arleen Sorkin of who the character was actually based off.
Had such a damn good time watching this movie! Definitely felt like a big budget Troma film. Love that James Gunn is holding on to his roots.
I loved your reaction!
Lloyd Kaufman had a cameo.
@@realMuseology Thanks so much. 💜💙
@@ghostpenguins3 Figured he would be. We were looking for him. Couldn't find him.
@@LatetotheParty Almost missed him myself, but a friend with eagle eyes shot out an arm and did the finger pointy thing. About to check out your coverage, see you in your channel.
Aaron always wants more backstory from characters lol. Someone remind Aaron the movie can't be 5 hours long.
Exactly especially with this many characters
He’s too used to tv show pacing
It's pretty obvious by his body language, Ric wasn't liking this movie early on.
For me, this is THE top DC movie in this “universe” if that’s even still a thing we can say.
It is by far the best DCEU movie.
they should reboot the universe and start fresh with this movie
I guarantee you King Shark’s “fake mustache” was a jab at Josstice League.
That doesn't make any sense lol
@@TonyAurum I think it does. It’s always fun to make fun of the CGI mustache, plus James Gunn has expressed his enjoyment of the Snyderverse. I could see him making the joke because of that.
the fake mustache reminded me of Injustice, "No one should ever have to justify a fake moustache..."
@@TheTruMan196 I didn't know Gunn was a fan of the Snyderverse
@@TonyAurum how does that not make any sense
Aaron: "Why is that flag there?"
Me: "The credit goes to, "Patton", for the flag. The credit for the walk though, goes to, "The Right Stuff".
Ratcatcher 2, King Shark and their wholesome friendship was easily the best part of this epic movie
It's been days since I've seen this movie and I'm still not over the fact they killed Captain Boomerang AND Rick Flag.
I went to a theatre after 1.5 years yesterday. It was this movie. Man I missed the feel of a theatre viewing.
Last movie I watched in the theatre was Joker (2019) before yesterday.
I wish I was able to watch The Quiet Place Part 2 in the theatre too. Damn pandemic.
Welp, the ad convinced me. I'm buying! Been waiting for this since I watched it in theatres! Also, the guy who plays Polka Dot Man (David Dastmalchian) voiced Calendar Man in Batman: The Long Halloween animated movie.
babayaga
@@thedefinitionisthis I can NOT wait for him as Piter deVries.
i think i saw a tear when king shark was lying on the ground after falling down, it was either a tear or just water on his face, that's so sad if it was a tear though
*Ratcatcher-2 was the heart and drama of this movie, Polka Dot Man was the love, King Shark was the friendship and joy, Rick Flag the brave, Peacemaker the comedy, Harley Quinn were the fun and Bloodsport was the action and force, The Suicide Squad is Life. Thank you James Gunn and John Murphy*
The scene where TDK's arms are getting shot at and he's writhing on the ground made me laugh so hard
DC really released two bangers back to back and that's insane to me
This is the only one so I'm confused by this comment.

I love this movie so much! The only thing I didn’t like was that they killed my boy Captain Boomerang without a second thought.
It's so nice to be able to hear Peter Capaldi swear again 🤣
He was barely used in the movie. What a waste.
Rick hated this movie lol you could tell during the whole reaction.. He has a very weird taste in movies lol
Literally. He’s obsessed with Berserk which to most is disturbing and weird
@Dogukan Demirel chillout its not that serious lol. Plenty of people like Berserk and aren't "incels or edgy kids". It's a pretty cool manga, that's it. Nobody I know yells about it "BEING SO DEEP". I don't know what kind of Berserk fans you talk to but that's not the norm lmao.
@Dogukan Demirel Damn man, is that your trigger word? Your reply is your first comment on this channel and all because someone mentioned Berserk
He loves stories that are either amazing or terrible in every way both ways. If something is a 4-7, he hates it. I’d say this movie’s plot is a 4-5, but the character work is an 8-9, so I think it’s great, but that doesn’t mean he has to. Berserk is an easy 9 (manga, that is) and he loves the room, which, objectively is an easy 2. He adores movies that are on either end of the scale but can’t stand movies in the middle
Not to mention he’s watched The Room about a 100 times and loves it lol along with Star Wars Christmas special.
