The first robot Mr Incredible fought was actually meant for Frozone, that's why they put it in a volcano.
Holy shit, I aint gonna hold you, I never considered that angle. It's almost frightening considering how handicapped he was in that house fire. His wife would've been widowed for sure, frozone can't 1v1 that thing
@@MrBigblack62 Notice that when Mirage first spies on them he tells syndrome that Frozone is there and calls Mr. Incredible as a fat guy. They were trying to recruit Frozone for that volcano but but diverted plans once they figure out Bob's identity.
@@MeleeHellBot also the light on the robot is blue, and when its mr incredibles turn its red
Wow, good call. Never realized that.
Have seen the move dozens of times. (Favorite and best Pixar movie ever made imo.).
Never picked up on that.
Though it wouldn't have been a real test of his Robot against Frozone. He would have been severely handicapped. This would have only fulfilled Syndrome's desire to eliminate him.
Mm that's a legit fan theory but did they ever confirm that?
Pixar out here showing us exactly how to treat insurance companies.

@@procrastinator547 I hope you mean that in a metaphorical sense.
One thing that doesn’t get mentioned enough, they absolutely nailed the brother-sister relationship in this movie. Constantly on each other’s nerves, but when it comes to it they’ve got each other’s backs

Not all siblings fight till ive seen, like sometimes not at all
The "and guest" security feature is actually brilliant. It covers the possibility of Edna being coerced into revealing her secrets. And considering she knows all the superheroes' identities, those are some very dangerous secrets.
I never even thought of that until Cinemawins.
Also justifies the security of her entire compound.
It's played for a joke but I've always loved how smart it was she had that
Gotta love a diva who's ahead of time.
Realistically speaking Edna is a genius she made a material that can be effected by violet’s invisibility without out even having violet to test with.
It's funny hearing all the "it was 2004, this is before smart phones!" when the movie is set in the 1960s, just with futuristic technology, lol
I agree. The setting is the 60s, not 2004. That only applies to the movie’s release date.
Well I think they meant that the movie itself was foreshadowing smartphones and electronic tablets. It seemed super techy and sci-fi to me to see a tablet like that as an audience in 2005. And yet, iPads were everywhere less than a decade later.
Was it not the 70s or 80s? I thought the intro was 60s
@@gryotharian the intro was meant to be in 1947
@@ferenczliszt It can't be because during the no cape speech, Edna mentioned supers being active in 1958.
Some consider this the greatest Pixar movie of all time, and rightly so. Its the uber-rare combination of a movie that works for adults with the more mature messages (Insurance companies being greedy, Bob's midlife crisis, Helen believing Bob is having an affair with Mirage) with what every kid wants to see (Cool superhero's, cool powers, robots, explosions).
And the SCORE for this movie- chefs kiss
Pixar was COOKING in the 2000s. Masterpiece after masterpiece
For me it’s their best standalone movie
The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Up. Pixar was really cooking in 2000-2015, then lost their touch. The only movie they made after 2015 that close to same level as those old classics is Soul
@@JeanPookiesilvayou need to watch Coco, Turning Red, Inside Out 2 and Luca because those were all great. You're grouping Cars 2, Monsters University, The Good Dinosaur and Brave in the good category. Toy Story 4, Cars 3, Finding Dory and Elemental were all pretty good too. I think it's unfair to say what you said
@@joevictor53 They've probably already watched them based on their statement. And sadly, I have to agree with @AdityaaT100. Pixar have lost their touch, but that's mainly because of the new people involved in the company's story writing. The Syndrome is a reference to "Hero Syndrome" also known as "Savior Complex". Its when a person is pathologically obsessed with saving the day so they can be praised, even if it means creating the threats so people need to be saved. Like a firefighter who sets fires to put out or a nurse who endangers patients so they can save them.
Like Mysterio from Far From Home? "Now this is an Avengers level threat"?
Everyone says how Bob is to much in the past but I say Syndrome is wost cause the hero's can't even do superhero work while he is killing them so he has nothing to prove anymore
I always thought Syndrome was a cool sounding name when I was a kid so I don't see the problem 😂
Syndrome's plan was to give everybody superpowers...that's pretty much it besides him being "super-smart".
man, am I sure glad there arent any rich people with access to advanced rocketry, deranged morals, and an insatiable need for public attention... 🥲
"Who is this voice? It sounds so familiar."
Edna is played by the director himself, Brad Bird 😂😂😂
Edna is voiced by a man? I never knew until now! I thought it was Linda Hunt or someone!
I thought Edna was always voiced by a woman! I've heard people like that so I had no idea!
Roz from Monsters INC is also voiced by a guy.
@fuzzyotterpaws4395 Yep! The story of how that happened is so funny too, Brad Bird kept badgering the voice actors/voice director about how Edna should sound, so one of them just turned to him in exasperation and said "Well why don't you do her voice then?"
And a legend was born
@@onilink134I mean if you can do a pretty decent impression of the voice you're imagining, you can do it yourself.
It’s hard for me to imagine how any kid back then would’ve understood the whole Insuricare subplot. I didnt know what Bob exactly was doing to help out his customers as why his boss was mad about that. I also didn’t know what Bob’s boss meant by, “Well, let’s hope we don’t cover him!” Now I think that line is hilarious. 😅
Crazy how relevant that is 20 years later lol. Then they wonder why people hate insurance companies.

Here's a fun fact: After the Omnidroid explodes at the end, there are two old men who say, "See that? That's the way to do it! That's old school!" "Yeah, no school like the old school" Those two were voiced by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, two legendary Disney animators who worked on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. At the time of production, Frank and Ollie were the last living members of Disny's legendary crew of animators, the "Nine Old Men." Director Brad Bird knew them from a previous project and got them to record the cameos. Frank Thomas passed away in 2004, and Ollie Johnston died in 2008, marking this as the last cameo of Disney's Nine Old Men.
@@nolhok so THAT’S who they are!
Aw, that’s so special and sweet!
I recall from the DVD commentary that Thomas passed away before The Incredibles came out, so he sadly didn't get to see people's reaction to this cameo, or this movie in general.
They also co-wrote “The Illusion of Life”. One of two most important books for teaching animation! They are the holy grail for up and coming animators everywhere!
Find me a more tense scene in the Pixar universe than when Ms. Incredible is radioing that there are children on board the flight…
If you’re a parent that moment hits you right in the fears
The editing and score in that scene are perfect. One of the most flawless scenes I've ever seen.
The voice of Edna "E." Mode is actually writer/director Brad Bird. The character's look, with her hair and glasses, is modeled after legendary Hollywood costume designer Edith Head.
Kronos was the father of the Olympian gods, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades, and the creator of the Titans. He would regularly feast on his children, but the Olympians overthrew and murdered him to take their places as gods of each realm. Pretty apt password for a narcissistic megalomaniac with a chip on his shoulder.
Also, if you think about it, Syndrome was kinda modeled like Zeus on his flying powers and shooting "lighting" as a "god destined to take down Kronos and become the new Overlord".
There is a fan theory that Edna feels responsible for the deaths of all the supers who died from cape malfunctions while wearing her suits, especially Stratogale, who was just a teenager. Fans theorize that that is why Edna refuses to include another cape in a costume of her design. Never again. "No capes!"
I feel the same way about capes. That’s why the Batman Beyond suit is my favorite Batman suit ever.

🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's still chilling to see all the list of dead supers. I mean, Bob is literally finding out that all of his old friends are dead by the hands Syndrome. Not to mention learning that Frozone was gonna be next.
Absolutely chilling. Gotta give Syndrome credit though. Any time a super beat a model, he would improve it's design and capabilities. But that computer scene, my word. Some of those supers were at his wedding. The horror Bob must've been feeling, I can't even imagine. His friends, all murdered.
Every one of the dead heroes is mentioned somewhere else in the movie. Most were at his wedding. Also, Gazerbeam is the real first gay character in Disney. If you pause the video and read the news paper article it describes his home life.
@@christianalbanito3062 There was a 2nd DVD that went over all the different supers we see. It showed us their voices and the personalities they. It also explained how they all died from the Omnidroid, mostly from a suprise attack.

Side note: Edna Mode was inspired by a few people:
Edith Head: Designed the costumes for Gone With The Wind and Breakfast At Tiffany's , down to the iconic round glasses and bob haircut.
Anna Wintour: Editor-In-Chief of Vogue magazine, with a no-nonsense attitude and flawless sense of fashion.
Iris Apfel: Fashion businesswoman, known for her eccentric sense of style and bold personality.
Anytime I go skiing my dream is to hear Sam Jackson yelling basically anything
@ashleylopez456 That would be comical and badass at the same time.
56:02 Brad Bird did the Iron Giant also. Voiced by VIn Deisel. Birds inspiration to make Iron Giant was the tragic murder of his sister by her husband.
And the pitch was,
"What if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun?"
God, that hurts knowing the context.
The incredibles, the Iron giant, Ratatouille, Mission imposible: Ghost Protocol. The guy is incredible himself
On that note, when Elastigirl is in the plane communicating with the central, she identifies her plane as India Golf 99. India Golf is IG in the phonetic alphabet. So this is an Easter Egg for Iron Giant, that was released in 1999.
8:46 y’all being baffled by superheroes being sued but have seen every season of the boys 😂
And Captain America 3
Also they are American.
but above all, they are Normies. ofc they would be
They’re probably surprised that a kids movie from 04 would have this plot
Bro, The difference between one story and the other is abysmal... Mainly because in one there are real heroes, it doesn't justify them, but it is understandable,... Also, it's very ironic and a cruel joke how in one story the real heroes are sued and cancelled while in another full of psychopaths and degenerates they are practically untouchable... No matter what degenerate thing they do, and what they expose them all the time...
I never realized how much Syndrome was like Mysterio from No Way Home, both using technology to fake threats and become a hero😂
both guys clearly had micropenises as well. Shame.
Mirage is the actress that played the bomb tech in Rush Hour. And she was in batteries not included, which y'all should watch.
RIP, Elizabeth Peña.
I LOVED Batteries Not Included when I was a kid!
I recall seeing a quote or interview or something from the creators of the incredibles a long while back, and they explained that the main families powers and also personalities too were based on typical tropes for the member of the family:
The Dad is supposed to be strong and inflexible, hence he's strong
The Mum is expected to be everywhere at once, hence she's flexible and can stretch in all different directions
A teen Son is considered to be full of energy and bouncing off of walls, hence fast.
The teen daughter is often considered shy and just wants to fly under the radar, which is why Violet can go invisible.
And even Jack-Jack was explained by this. He's a baby, full of potential, hence he has a ton of potential superpowers but no real control over using them yet.
How do people not see movies like this? Like I get it but its still impressive. I wonder how many gems I myself have somehow missed.
The American health insurance companies are the villains of this movie. And Mr. Incredible literally worked for an insurance company, trying to figure out a way to help people get the best deal by work-around within the system. Just something to think about.
Since powers exist in this world, you think the school would investigate the possibility of Dash having powers if they think he did the prank.
there's a theory that says that those powers don't come naturally but were given to trained individuals and that's why nobody expects super kids
@@Restryouis Was that not confirmed in 2? I only saw that one once and can't recall all the smaller bits

I’m pretty sure Syndrome’s name comes from “Hero Syndrome”. Notice how Buddy recklessly does superhero things like throwing trucks around or wants the fame. That’s not a real hero. They don’t just fight crime or get famous, they help and protect innocent people.

It's an impressive concept today, even with The Boys and She-Hulk in the zeitgeist but it was way ahead of it's time in the early 2000s.

One of the best Pixar films ever made! Thank you for reacting to this classic movie!
It came out in 04, but it’s set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1960s. It also doubles as spy film from said era.
This is during the peak of Pixar’s creative development. They would start from a from a very simple idea and build off of it. What if toys were alive when we aren’t looking? What if a rat could control a person by pulling their hair? What if a retired superhero had a midlife crisis?
lol Suraj, you can always tell a Lost fan boy by the excited Michael Giacchino call out whenever he's listed somewhere lol. Guys absurdly talented and yet so underrated. Every Lost fan is consistently cheering for him.
It may be my own head cannon, but, I think the reason Edna has as much as she does and is able to create what she does, is because she's also a "Super". She has to be beyond genius to be able to create the things she does. She made a fabric that's resistant to super friction, one that has almost limitless elasticity and one that can literally turn invisible.
The Incredibles is a superhero movie with sitcom humor!
(10:55) Dash moved from his seat to the teacher’s seat in 6 milliseconds. Yes. He’s incredibly fast!
(50:25) It may be cut here, but the two old men who appeared after Syndrome showed his disdain, it’s two of Walt Disney’s top animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. Director Brad Bird had them cameo twice in two of his animated movies. This one and The Iron Giant.

This is such an iconic movie. I loved it when it came out, but never expected it would do so well considering the superhero craze wasn't nearly close to its peak. Btw in Wandavision the Maximoffs (well, Wanda, Vision, Tommy and Billy) recreated the scene where the Incredibles pose after landing on New York.

Just wanna add that yes I get what syndrome means by "when everyone is special, no one is" but imo that is a very incomplete thought. We are all the same in that we are all unique but only in the singular CONCEPT of uniqueness. However, that singular connection does NOT make our actual, individual, unique traits any less unique (DNA, thoughts/feelings, personality, experiences, etc.). Like we are all the same in that we have DNA but each individual effectively has a different set, we all are the same in that we live life but each individual experience will always be different. We all have now seen the Incredibles (probably) but have a different experience with it (like we each react differently). And so on. I do think it's an interesting piece to talk about because I believe we all, at some point in our life growing up, struggle with the need to differentiate our personality (the core of who we are) from others to an extent.
25:28 She’s voiced by Brad Bird. He’s the director of the film.
Crazy only 25% have seen this Incredible movie. It's genuinely one of the best 'kids' movies ever

You were talking about whether the crime rate was better or worse. I just noticed this - blink and you miss it, but when Bob is reading the newspaper in the kitchen, the back of the newspaper has an article called "Crime Rates: All Time High". So I guess that answers the question!
So “incredible” that ya’ll are reacting to this masterpiece of a movie! ❤
Bob can't work construction. That would be like putting Babe Ruth in a peewee baseball game. He is obviously a lot stronger than everyone else, but its a lot more noticeable if hes DOING physical stuff
Bold move by Pixar/Disney to casually drop an attempted suicide. High body count too!
Finding Nemo still has the highest body count I think.
Fun fact: their original target was Frozone. That's why they ended up in a volcano. Frozone can't use his powers there
I can understand why Helen wanted to retired cause she wanted her family safe but honestly if it was me and my family I would still train my kids to use their powers just in case something did happen one day cause that’s why violet couldn’t do the force field cause she never practiced growing up cause the mom was all like never use them.
It's hard to overstate just how big a leap this was for Pixar. This was the first feature where humans were the lead characters (in Monsters Inc, they intentionally gave Boo pigtails so animating the hair would be easier, which wasn't an option for Violet), and it had 4 times the number of locations as previous Pixar films.
funny how they are annoyed by realistic kid behavior
Its a pretty great kid movie with some deep as questions
One of my core memories of this movie is not understanding what that guy who jumped off the building was trying to do and when I asked my mum she told me he was a stuntman filming a movie and Mr Incredible didn’t realise.
Elastigirl definitely the most loved Pixar mom easily
"If everyones special, no one is" is a sentiment held by people who either ignore or cannot comprehend how complex the minds and experiences of other human beings are. We literally cannot be anything but special.
Even if Bob didn't directly cheat on Helen... the whole being a superhero behind her back is still an allegory for cheating. Which is why she was still so upset when he found out he made a new suit and how he was off in an island. It wasn't about the woman.
I'm surprised they had a suicide thing in a kid's movie, and someone not wanting to be saved from that always confused and baffled me as well😅
"It's (still the spirit of) the '90s, Colin"

The Fantastic 4 is regarded as the First Family of Superheroes. Reed Richards is Mr. Fantastic (what you guys called "elastic man") and one of the smartest people in Marvel, if not the smartest.
Invisible Woman is Sue Storm-Richards and is the heart of the team, she also has the same powers of Violet Parr in this movie. Sue's brother is The human torch, who can engulf his body in fire and Ben Grimm is the hero called The Thing. He is the muscle. Both Sue and Reed eventually have kids, one of which, Franklin is the most powerful character, sometimes mutant in all of Marvel.
Syndrome is the funniest villian ever. Everything he does is does is just funny.
The funniest villain ever? Is this the only movie you’ve seen?
@procrastinator547 Maybe I've not been "BUSYYYYYY" like you clearly have
The Incredibles has a lot of references to the Fantastic Four, which includes both a brother and sister and a husband and wife, and often feels like a family.
Several of the superpowers are also the same: Violet's are exactly the same as the Invisible Woman, and Elastigirl's are the same as Mr. Fantastic, with some extra cartoon power. Mr. Incredible has super strength like the Thing, but without the rock transformation, and the Human Torch's power seems to be one of Jack-Jack's. The main F4 villain, Dr. Doom, also has a lot in common with Syndrome.
