i remember playing the GBA version, on the kefka battle i used the slots just for fun, and i got the instakill one, 10/10 even didnt see the moves kefka had
The Subscribe slots was pretty good. 😝👍 I appreciate the addition of the non-manipulated list at the end, since not everyone will be going through that. Sometimes, you just gotta take a gamble. 😉
So what did you think of the list? It does remove the "random" function for this particular one but I did mention the random list if I were to make one later in the video if that's what you want to see. I could do one for Pixel Remaster but the video would've been redundant aside from order. Let me know!
Thanks for covering what the list would be were it not for slot manipulation, at least I was definitely thinking it. I remember back in the SNES before internet I didn't even know that slot manipulation was possible so didn't really see Setzer as special. I think he was possibly the least played character back in my original run.
i liked doing this list to give insight into the inner workings of the game and ability itself, but there are also ppl who like to play more "intended" so I felt it was needed to add another list for the pure gamblers
Setzer comes into his own for me in the late game even without slot manipulation. Give him the Fixed Dice and the Master's Scroll and watch him play craps for keeps. Fixed Dice are coded to do damage based on the results of the dice rolls, multiplied by Setzer's level, and then doubled; which bypasses the Master's Scroll's 1/2 damage penalty and ignores defense. If Setzer is Berserked, damage is increased by 50%, and if you roll a triple of the same number, damage is multiplied again by one of the results. You will get dud rolls every now and again, but if RNG is in your favor you can also get at least 2 9999 damage rolls.
The worst ability...summon a random Esper. Why would you say that?...if it summons Crusader you get killed for a good chunk of the game.(as the video shows happening.) Low odds, but I remember being blown up by purifier as a result of a random Esper summon. I have never forgiven Setzer since. He and Umaro get left on the ship for a reason.
Now goes Mog's dances and that's all the doable Best to Worst with FFVI. Terra, and Celes special command is simple and unique, Strago and Gau are too much and very situational to be covered, Locke and Relm depends on the enemy and also can be upgraded with items to get beter special commands(by the way, Setzer can change his slots to trow gil with an item, just saying), and Shadow can throw almost anything in the inventory. Umaro is free anyways, and Gogo does whatever you put him to, so in his cae it would be a top of special commands itself.
I do but unless a move is a attack that hits all enemies at once Gau tends to use those spells on HIMSELF only over and over that's why when doing the INFINITE LOOP before the first Ultros battle BUT after he's beaten its best if Celes FIRST joins at lv 48 with Vanish since Gau tends to use the Vanish rage either constantly on HIMSELF or a party member that's already Vanished. Yes most of those loop enemies only use Physical hits so without Banon in the party its best if Celes can Vanish the party 1 a time the RANDOM slot for summon Phantom isn't reliable at all and neither is Gau using the Vanish using Rage (1 of the Zozo enemies has that spell) but it still single target.
Oooh! This was a fun list. I don't pause buffer and the randomizers I play scramble the rng to stop Joker Doom shenanigans. Based on the odds I can usually mash A and get 7-Flush or Chocobop reliably. Sometimes I get to Summon something (usually Crusader lol)
Hey, new subscriber who was pulled in by these rankings. I have a suggestion for a future ranking I think would be cool and useful. So, I've played this game probably a dozen times in my life, once every couple of years, and I know it pretty well but not, like, speedrunner-LLG-well. It's even in my username. But one thing I've never learned is what Gau's best rages are and why/where they're valuable. I know he can be incredibly powerful, especially exploiting weaknesses, but without having memorized most enemy weaknesses and the many Rage behaviors, I've mostly ignored him across my many playrhroughs. Obviously you can't rank every Rage, but maybe you could do a top 10 and explain why and where each is useful? Maybe also factoring in how late in the game you can first earn them? I'd love that and it seems pretty in line for this series. Good videos! ✌️
The first time I got 3 bars, I got crusader and I hadn't saved in forever. I was devastated. Also, do you know if it's on purpose that you tend to get rare slots only if the battle is about to be over anyway? I'm pretty sure it is, I've had it happen countless times. I'll get the mega flare, but then think "oh, Locke is about to kill this enemy" and he does lol.
In desperation I finally triggered the summon slot as a wee lad in this game's heyday, before the World of Ruin. I was stoked thinking I'd get Bahamut or something devastating. Instead I got Crusader and watched three dudes blow shit apart. I thought I would win the battle. I saw the 3k damage to enemies and was like "HELL YEAH!" Then saw the 2k to my lv 25-ish party and them all get wiped out immediately. After that I never wanted to use the summon slot again.
This made me realize how many of these I've never actually seen, because I never use Setzer. Other party members like Edgar and Sabin are just too good to waste a slot on him for me.
I too prefer far more consistent characters. Screw this chaos stuff I can't plan a strategy around. I put Setzer and Umaro on the bench for the final dungeon for this reason. I always dislike the gamblers characters, as they seem to randomly kill me in each game. Setzer did with Crusader early on, like WHAT? Cait Sith did the same with whatever the instant death ability is for his limit break, and I refuse to use him anymore after that.
While the Joker doom KILL all enemies version is his best slot I could never rig it and in the PIXEL version Auto battle like 99% of the time when it lands on Joker doom would be the kill your OWN party with it. While normally Intangirs can't be killed by the NORMAL death spell or the Rhodox/Mu rage the kill all enemies Joker doom its NOT immune to it.
Yeah it really soured me on using Setzer. I was deep a dungeon and it went off, killing my party. I hadn't quite made to the save yet and had do all over.
My list would look different but that's because of the casual experience. I was only ever to get joker doom version 1 once and while I laughed cuz it was so close it also was just like dammit. I never got the good joker doom.
@@Bdewd have you ever done videos on imp armor and some more obscure armor like mirage vest and Thornlet you can get by metamorphosing certain characters?

The game purposely will not allow you to get all 7s on skill. it has a RNG factor to it. You can play it on an emulator and slow the game down to frame by frame and even though you'll easily get perfect timing, the game will still slide to the next icon. All other combos are 100% possible via skill
that's why i was mentioning unless you throw an echo screen you cant get it off the hop. funny how a single item makes the slots give you the most broken ability in the game (imo) and not throwing it means you physically can't get it
@@clydecash5659 im not particularly knowledgeable on the inner working of PR slots but early on we were trying to do the GBA style manip via during a spell cast but it was awkward cuz the pause buffering is bad
@@veghesther3204 Honestly, if you can't pause and manipulate rng. Setzer's slots are basically kinda useless. He only shines if he gets Offering + Genji Glove + Fixed Dice. Other than that, he is probably my most unused party members other than Umaro, and a knockoff Chakra/Mantra.
I did exactly that just WITHOUT the Genji glove with the Fixed Dice he doesn't need a 2nd weapon or to use slots at all. But even at lv 99 its CYAN and Umaro IMHO that are still pure crap. As for Setzer's OTHER skill despite that its easily to have millions of gil unspent the GIL toss skill not only uses up a Relic slot it really won't do 9999 damage to anything either and isn't worth it.

I liked the list, and learned new things about Setzer's slot in the process. I also like how you included the alternate list at the end.
Seltzer has my favorite in-game sprite so he was on the team in the 1st spot a lot. Cyan and Gau are my favorite characters

So uh... how long until ranking all of Gau's rages?
👀
That is something you do the best 10 or 20 rages for a list.
This guide is highly legit.

I just used Prismatic Flash because it’s the prettiest attack, does decent damage, and is easy to pull off
Btw I found it funny you called it Prismatic Flush. I get the poker reference but just reminds me of a toilet
Do you guys realize Rhinox/Destroyer is a good Rage for Gau, he can use Reraise/Life 3 on his allies SUPER EARLY.
