    Oh, this reminds me of the old Maya tutorial by Jason Busby (may he rest in peace) with the talented ball. But way more advanced. With blender finally having a good UI, I might actually give this a try. You are well-spoken without all that usual over the top UA-camr shenanigans, really refreshing.

    23:19 About the tool keys. There's a setting in the keymap preferences to activate the tool rather than activating the operator immediately. I'm sure now you're accustomed to using the spacebar, but for others, it's not needed to achieve the same effect.
    That said, having the option to go G to move something really quick is always nice, so I completely understand wanting to keep both

    Finally found a blender tutorial set I can stay engaged with. This is great, thank you for this. I appreciate how thorough you are with your workflow. The biggest hurdle to learning any complex program is navigating the UI without thinking about it and I feel like I'm moving around Blender much better after watching.

    Awesome vid. Thank you so much for sharing this valuable knowledge, you're a godsend for us early learners out there.
    I'm going to give it back :
    38:40 : Passe-partout is a word of French origin that literally means 'goes through everything'. Usually means either a key that opens all locks within a specific setting, or in the art field it refers to the black framing around paintings that started around the 16th century (which is obviously what the term within Blender is referring to).
    And it's really easy to pronounce, actually. 'Pass partoo', the 'T' is silent, like it's often the case in French words.
    Hope that helps. Keep the amazing content coming, and thank you so much for what you do.

    By the way, instead of using "Camera to view" I just decide my camera view while freely roaming and then I press "Ctrl+Alt+0". That shortcut snaps the camera to your view and then you can continue to free roam without pressing any button. I find it faster this way.

    • @Bluejohn
      @Bluejohn 7 місяців тому

      @@activemotionstudio1820 I have actually gone back to 3.5, which for me seems to be the only version where all my add ons work ok. I bought the hard ops/ box cutter bundle last year but if I try and use it in 4.1 it crashes Blender straight away, yet it was ok in 4. I don't think it's my specs as I have 64 g of Ram and a pretty good gpu. Bit of a mystery.

    Because Blender provides for real-world measurement units, you can use real-world physics and math to calculate the actual rotation rate of the ball based on its radius/circumference and its speed through space.

    • @alexonstory
      @alexonstory  8 місяців тому

      I am a pro animator:) I'll look into a tutorial like that. I am not a pro rigger so there are many better people to share on that subject.
      But if I do a video about character rigging it'll be more of a simplified version.

    • @s.kounalakis
      @s.kounalakis 8 місяців тому +2

      I would prefer it to stay only in the animation part, for rigged there are also other people. You don't often give us such opportunities to learn from a professional animator

    • @alexonstory
      @alexonstory  8 місяців тому

      I agree! I'll stick to animation and camera work. But will share other topics from time to time, and rigging is one of those topics. When posting about rigging it'll be what I do to get done what I need getting done. Won't be technically 'correct' though.

    You should make a video series on the twelve principles of animation.

    Have a question please: Just before each bounce, would the ball stretch or remain the same? It squashes, on impact, and then the rebound would elongate the shape. But prior to the bounce? OR is that an animation quirk? To add emphasis and visually make it look more appealing? Just keen to understand the pre-bounce shape and what we did in the tutorial :)

    • @alexonstory
      @alexonstory  7 місяців тому +1

      Great question! Yes typically you'll have a stretch frame just before the contact pose. I like to have about 2-4 frames of the ball stretching to it's longest shape before the squash contact pose.
      Hope that helps!

    Hey, I'm a beginner in Blender, I came here after learning some bits and parts about Blender from Crossmind Studio and the Blender Guru Donuts series in Blender version 3.3, one thing I get that I'm not that good at modeling, but I want to learn the animation so I landed here is this a good starting point for me even though I don't know much about modeling or should I just quit learning blender

    • @alexonstory
      @alexonstory  7 місяців тому +1

      Hey welcome! Those are great places to learn. Learning 3D is challenging, but keep at it. As your understanding increases you'll be able to start creating things you want. Animation and Modeling is an art form. So your trying to learn a bunch of things at once. Take your time and be okay with baby steps at the start. Practice and you will get better. I know you can do it! I felt very similar when I was starting out.
