    When i copy the keys from location and paste them into the rotation the ball is rotating backwards? how do i fix that?

    • @alexonstory
      @alexonstory  4 місяці тому +13

      Great question! That has happened to all of us.
      What's going on is the curve that is being pasted is in the opposite value to what you want it to be. So select the curve you want to fix. Hit S, for scale then Y, to lock the scale to the up and down axis. Then type in a value of -1. That will scale the curve so it will now be flipped. Your rotation will now be moving in the right direction.
      To avoid this from the start your direction of travel would have had to have been in the opposite direction. But, that's hard to know and plan ahead. So it's nice we can do this simple scaling of the curves to fix the curves direction.
      Hope that helps!

      @@alexonstory I solved this problem the way below:
      Select the Rotation channel "shift+e" to hide the other curves, select all with "a"
      then "CTRL+M" for mirroring the curve (or right click and choose the mirror option) and select "By Values Over Zero Value" option.
      Thanks for this beautiful tutorial series.

    Great tutorial Alex! As far as timing your first blocking pass, do you have a basic guideline on how many frames you use between poses or does it just come with practice?

    • @alexonstory
      @alexonstory  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks!
      Blocking is the time you want to see if your idea is working. Some times 2 poses is enough and other times you need a dozen.
      If your blocking in a studio environment you'd want to take your blocking just a bit further and add a breakdown or two.
      In terms of timing the closer you have your keys the more cartoony the style. If your doing 4-6 frames between each key pose thats a snappy timing. 8 to 12 frames is more natural and standard.
      When I am blocking something for my self I go as rough as I can. Dirty poses and as few poses as I can get away with. If my idea is working at that stage I know I can plus things up. If it's not working I did not spend a lot of time on that idea.
      Hope that helps!
