Heard that Cruise insisted that the motorcycle/parachute stunt, in which he had the greatest chance of being killed or irreparably injured, was to be performed at the very beginning of production. He explained that it would be best to be killed at the beginning of production rather than in the middle causing the project to be scrapped and all previous work and everyone’s time to be wasted.
Tom Cruise is an actor who knows more about producing movies than actual producers.
Yes! He personalises his interviews, giving eye contact and often interviewing the interviewer …. an amazing and wonderful talent, quite remarkable.
@@thoughtsonfitness3249 wtf does that have to do with producing movies?
why not just say tom is a great producer? no need to diminish producers as a whole.
If only he had produced Indiana Jones.
That statement is a massive to disservice to actual producers. You probably don't even know what the job entails.
Disney/Marvel to Cruise: “Hey Tom, we’d like to possibly recast you as Tony Stark”.
Cruise to Disney: “I appreciate the offer. RDJ played the role perfectly. I have lots of respect for him. Unless, I have full control over everything with script, action and cast members; I’ll hold off for now”.
😂 that’s why Disney will never work with Cruise, they know he’d take full control the moment he walks on set. And he would never allow his character to be treated like what they did to Luke Skywalker and now Indiana Jones.
Ignoring modern Hollywood is why I've already bought my ticket. We have to support films like this if we want actual entertainment at the box office again
And Top Gun Maverick is probably one of the top 5 greatest Hollywood action movies, maybe in the top 3 realistically. The cast is perfect, the main female lead is very beautiful and not the typical brutal "masculine" female so common now, and the movie was positive with a happy vibe to the movie, where they didn't needlessly kill any of the characters, which is a huge accomplishment, it's almost unheard of in Hollywood to not kill off half of the cast to add cheap thrills. The way they ended Maverick is completely the opposite of 99% of Hollywood scripts, and you felt happier about the world, which can't be said for other movies.
I love Kittridge. That actor’s cadence and voice really has that amoral intelligence agency vibe.
I still love the 1st movie. Kittridge and Cruise played off each other well.
You’re going to love him in this movie. Saw an early preview show. He fits back in like a glove without missing a beat. I wasn’t going to say anything, but Alan mentioned it - 1 ended with Kittridge not being a villain, and that carries over. Like, he’s not twirling his mustache in this one.
I loved him in Clear And Present Danger also. Great actor!
@@deanpowers8393 Yeah, he’s more of a Broadway-type.
Practical effects and stunt work make such a difference in the quality of a film particularly over the long term. Absolutely incredible that Tom Cruise over the last decade and now that he’s 61 is insisting on preforming his own stunts, it makes a real and tangible difference to the film and fans.
What is insane about TC is that being a Scientologist, he must be one of the biggest ideologues in Hollywood. But he NEVER pushes it down your throat. Ever. He just enthuses about the current project and respects the audience. Good god, its refreshing. Hats off to that man.
Uhmm... I guess he learned that back in the 2000s
As crazy as Scientology is, it's not as bad as the woke religion.
I’d rather have scientologists instead of jews like Bob Iger.
Totaly sanity being scientologist.comunque TK per pubblicità 😂😂😂😂😂
@@McDLT999999999999999 How dare you point out who is actually destroying Western society!
Who could imagine that "entertaining your audience" would become such a novel and rare concept
I have a feeling that Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning is going to dominate the box office for awhile. Can’t wait to see it when it’s out myself. Lol
DAY 1 for me!
But what about Indiana Jones 😢??
@@illuminous7937 Indiana Jones will be obliterated once Mission Impossible ends up getting released. Since Indy 5 is a bad movie. Lol
@@illuminous7937 what about it? the trilogie is awesome 😉
Definitely going to still put bums in seats come August 🎉.
This 2 hour and 45 minute movie was paced to PERFECTION, maybe the best paced long movie I've ever seen.
R.I.P Disney
Good riddance
Amen.
Disney is going to try to chase the spy genre - they will fail - they will apply the same ideology that killed their other franchises
Even if they start making good movies again, we have to remember how they shit all over our favorite characters. Don't forgive. Don't forget. Never give them another dime. They'll always hate you.
disney? was that a brand of soap?..
It is rumored Disney and KK are offering to purchase the MI IP, to launch PWB’s super-mega-STARDOM. The first movie of this franchise will be MISSION: INSUFFERABLE: MENSTRUAL MAYHEM 😍🥰😘😌🥰😘😍🥰😘
😂😂😂😂😂
I've enjoyed every MI movie and I can't wait to see this. I saw the first in a local 50 seat theater with my first high school date. I loved it, she did not. I never saw her again lol
Lmao. Same!
Cruise is working on being a couple of generation's only legitimate movie star.
Not 'working on' He is the only true Movie Star left.
@@mitrooper hard to disagree
Once we have part 2 this is going to be one hellofa box set!
I can’t wait to see this. Mission Impossible has been one of my favorite action franchises. Not all of them worked for me, but on average a very high score.
That's the same thing I have been saying for years , that Hollywood has a serious case of Hot women Phobia .Tom Cruise lets women be Beautiful, Smart and intelligent , without making them masculine condescending Mary Sues
Donte’s take on hot woman in movies is spot on. “Hotphobia” is a new condition and we are tired of it.
Never thought Hollywood, a place designed to highlight the most attractive actors and actresses they can find, would now be hijacked by the fringe weirdo crowd. Now they seem to want to embrace the bizarro elements.
The Mission Impossible franchise as we now it now begun in earnest with Ghost Protocol. Brad Bird raised the envelope and Christopher McQuarre has taken it to the next level. First one was like Hitchcock on steroids suspense 2nd one MI has done Hong Kong style, and 3 a soft reboot. But 4 is where it really begins….
Watched my first MI movie last week (MI5), plan to watch the rest now. Whoever writes these films and thinks-up these scenarios and stunts, should be working all the time. Disney take note.
All are good. Even the 2nd one, which is mostly known to be the worst, is still fun.
I will forever adore the original first one. You have to start there. Its a classic!
Abrams kind of revitalized the franchise with III, and Bird's Ghost protocol was even a step above that. But when Christopher McQuarrie became the head guy along with Cruise on Rogue Nation, the franchise even achieved greater heights. McQuarrie is the man (also at the helm for Maverick).
@@briansolo Facts.
I loved this movie and can't wait for part 2. It finished on a satisfying end. Now one quest was completed, Now I have feeling Part 2 is going to top it.
I had no idea the film was 2 hours and 43 minutes long until after leaving the theater, honestly for me it did not feel like it had that long of a runtime because I was so entertained throughout the entire film.
Cruise is basically making the same movies he was doing 25-30 years ago, the same way, and still getting it done.
Great content, per usual, Chris & Alan.
Dude how did you get Carlos Santana to be on your panel?
Almost all the dialogue scenes are shot in close up only. That is the visual style that Christopher McQuarrie obviously decided on. He doesn't show the space that the actors are in like he does in Fallout (or like most films do). Even the first scene in the submarine does this, although it's hard to notice because it works so well. The film is almost experimental in its visual style. That combined with the digital cameras make it feel like a play at times.
I saw a documentary about the making of this film and at the section showing the rehearsal and filming of the motorbike going over the cliff and Tom Cruise jumping clear of the bike (not a certainty) and parachuting down all I could think was “How much is each premium they are paying for insurance on Tom Cruise”. Or maybe no insurance company will take the policy.
SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER
It comes out on Monday 10th in the UK. Got my ticket, can't wait.
Can't wait to see it!👍👍👍👍
M:I may turn out the most consistently watchable franchise in film history. The only one that kinda misses is II, but even that has its fun moments. Cruise is kind of a kook, but I appreciate his take on making films. No pushed ideologies, and the only agenda is to ENTERTAIN the AUDIENCE. May Lord Xenu bless that man (but hopefully, actual God, too) :P
Imma be really sad when cruise stops doing these films but man what a surprise franchise that has somehow been nearly perfect in the genre.
out of curiosity, what is a "popcorn" movie?
Mission Impossible Rogue Nation and Fall Out are my top two favorite films in the franchise. Lol
Maybe this will help us forget Diaper of Dysentery.
Gonna have to catch this one while it's still in theaters.
Tom Cruise = Quality! Nobody can match the real blockbuster high octane action that Cruise ramps up on every Mission Impossible. His craft is unmatch nowadays and it reminds us what the silver screen is all about.
just saw it today and cannot wait for the second half. well worth the ticket price.
Why can’t we just return to having intermissions?!
4:30 I knew this comparison would come up. It crept into my head more and more I thought about it. I think I like both likeable and unlikable thieves, but the unlikable thief just wasn't well done in Indi.
I am super excited about this film but isn't the plot of this very similar to Jim Caviezel's TV show hit "Person of Interest"?
Terrific panel.
I just saw it last night and it was a blast!
Halley Attwell could have saved Indiana Jones 5.
Fight me.
With Kathleen Kennedy involved = IMPOSSIBLE.
I hope they see sense and cast Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones III, with Hayley Atwell as his love interest.
@@evertonporter7887 You are keeping your hopes way too high from a company that hates you.
@@Indians-dl3to Ye of little faith 😆. Who said Kathleen Kennedy will be Lucasfilm chief by then...? My money's on Jerry Bruckheimer as her successor.
Huh? The problem was the script, not the acting
Its so refreshing to watch a movie that's focused on entertaining instead of messaging. And its also about AI which is actually relevant and timely. While movies focused on messaging, looking at you Disney, are... well, not.
I couldnt believe my eyes today when I went to look on the AMC site and there on the bottom at 3:00 pm was the Walmart Sponsered see it first showing! I was shopping with my wife and I told her were going home and unload the groceries and we are headed out to see Mission Impossible! I loved the movie. Had fun just like I did with Top Gun. Didnt feel like 2:45 minutes.
I suspect TC being unburdened with post Weinstein guilt, is freer to portray characters (in whatever genders) than the shop next door.
Just saw the movie...wow. at least 9/10, maybe a 10. Can't wait for the next!
I love the Mission Impossible movies, Sure they're batshit insane at time but they're fun as hell.
Also I know I'm in the minority but IMO MI2 is not the weakest (MI3 is)
Lmao. I’m opposite. I like all the movies. I think the 3rd is one of my favorites. The 2nd is least favorite, but it’s still fun as hell.
Does it have a clever heist scene? You know, classic MI trickery?
The man The Myth The Legend Tom Cruise
The Man Who saved Hollywood
Throw in Keanu Reeves (John Wick), and Denzel Washington (Robert McCall/The Equalizer).
Although I appreciate the gushing and I love MI films and I can’t wait, some of this stuff is not new per se …
Eagle Eye and Live free or Die hard used plot elements like this plenty and on top of that
Tomorrow never dies did the best car chase helicopter scene of all time with yeoh and brosnan handcuffed on a motorbike (arguably intercut with stunt team but still the handcuffs is not new )
Can’t wait overall
It’s 99% on RT as of right now 🔥
Sounds awesome
The day the Mission Impossible franchise and/or studio ever gets bought out by Disney, will be the day I quit movies forever.
Hayley Atwell's Grace character is what Phoebe Waller Bridge aspires to have written for her part as Helena.
Similar character traits and yet we see how unlikeable Helena's character is and how interesting Grace is.
"Ignores modern Hollywood". Hou sold me the movie with that.
Go Hollywoke, go Hollybroke.
Not gonna lie, I still feel bad about not helping propel "Top Gun: Maverick" even further at the global box office (as I highly enjoyed it on Blu-ray), but I will definitely be watching "Dead Reckoning" in its second week. It looks pretty awesome. 👺✨🗡👺
Will see Sound of Freedom, then MI. Love Tom Cruise.
Pom Klementieff unexpectedly convincing as smaller yet deadly female assassin cuz her eyes are fuckin' crazy! You could imagine her being unstoppable simply because she's too insane to let up.
Also: BATMAN RETURNS suuuuuuuucks.
Tom Cruse 's life is mad but his films are great.
Tom Cruise Is mad lo dice Katie Holmes quella che se la faceva con Jamie foxx da sposata con Tom Cruise, mai avuto il dubbio che la Joey Potter è Amber Heard 2 Total fake?
Kickin' Impossible 😂
Image that, u focus on telling a good story and don't worry about "modern society" and u succeed.!! Soo crazy how that works.. who'd a thunk it 😂
‘Ignores modern Hollywood’
I might be going back to theaters!
Tom cruise is the Goat
too long? i never wanted it to finish
I just paid $26 to see it. It was too short 😂I don’t go to the movies ever so I wanted to really extend my stay there. I just think that you’re not giving it a handicap, like in golf, for what they were able to produce under Covid restrictions.
1 hot woman done well in a movie can guarantee 100 million right there, EACH!!! Also, MI films never use diversity as a clutch, the multinational cast just makes sense and the whole cast usually nails it with whatever role they are given, they never promote the movie as some kind of cultural event just because of skin colors...
I trust Chris and Alan more when it comes to movies than I do myself when it comes to life.
This is going to be a great month.
7/12- MI Dolby 😁
7-20- Barbie 😁
7-20- Oppenheimer 70mm IMAX 😁
yeah, look around, barbie has a message as well
Barbie is most likely woke, even having a cross dressing moment.
@davesargent6163 It's Greta Gerwig and so what. All movies have some kind of message, some writers/directors are just better at being subtle than others. Subtle>preachy...
the mission movies still have modern hollywood's aversion to romance
i cant watch this review; i'm going to see the film, and i want to come to it fresh; i'll watch this afterwards.
I loved this movie
Disney is dead. They ain’t coming back.
Still need them to clear Jim Phelps good name.
Who knew couch jumper had taste
So stoked to see Disney burning to the ground! See ya bye 😂
Alan stop trying to make "elevated" action a thing 😂
The title doesn't even bother me. It sounds like a zombie movie but thats ok because in Tom we Trust.
TC is an actor who I really don’t want to like, but I do. I think these MI movies have been done to death but can’t deny their popularity. I have not seen all of them but may check this one out once it hits streaming. Unlike the Indy movie which I will not see. Not because I’m angry at Disney like everyone else. It’s just another lazy reimagining movie of existing IP that doesn’t even center on the title character. Doesn’t interest me.
Disagree with M:I movies being "done to death." They get more creative, they get more big scale, but they're not completely insane and nonsensical like the Fast Garbage franchise. Also, this movie is most likely going to singlehandedly save the summer blockbuster lag. You don't have to dumb yourself down, and it still delivers pretty good thrills. It's definitely not deep like Dune (such awesome books), but it's still pretty damn entertaining.
Disney would be better off hiring a team of Chimps to do the writing and directing than continue to hand over the reins to the goofballs who’ve effectively destroyed not one but several franchises. Tom Cruise should be the template for successful movie making.
Just watched the movie ! I cried when one IMF member died in Dead Reckoning.....ooops spoiler ! lol
Same as when I felt bad when they killed Emilio Estevez on the first movie.😅
throw some sceneros into chat cbt and let ai do the rest
…
The title part one is a give away that it will not be any conclusion of the movie.
At least they made it obvious. I feel like Dune hid the fact it was a Part 1.
Yeah in Dune, I was thinking "finally this movie is going to get started, credits? Wtf?"
I just don't want to spend 3 hours plus driving time at the cinema. Can we please go back to the days when movies were under 2 hours?
No, I am opposite. I drove and paid money to watch the movie. Besides having a good story, I don't want it over in the blink of an eye. That is why I hated Disney rides; paid lots of money and stood in a long line for one minute of actual entertainment.
Yeah, I don't want shorter movies just because some people have small bladders or are afraid to be out of their homes
I think I watched the 1st two MI flicks long ago and that was it. Sorry but I'm just Not a Tom Cruise fan.
I love this franchise and while this movie is not my favourite by far. The popcorn normies will eat it up.
Not a fan of Tom as a person and his acting skills are somewhat limited, but DMMIT that boy is the Last Movie Star! And not by accident either; he WORKS at it Hard!, and he does it for the audience.
Yeah, but what did Tom Cruise and the production crew do when that motorcycle destroyed the ecosystem at the bottom of that cliff???
Too woke, bruh. Take a breath.
Problem is, they are choosing race over talent and its mostly B movie level ,if that w corney hunor.. In this case only Cruise can act.
It's not star wars but in many ways, it is what I'd want from a star wars movie. There are really cool scenes between master and apprentice, the bad guy is like a sith, they have fight scenes that are kind of like what you'd want between jedi and sith, the team/jedi are willing to lose their lives for each other.
Mission impossible > james bond
Please don't spoil this much of it, especially for movies we're trying to support. Allen gave away like the entire setup.
modern Hollywood is not Hollywood.
Obama bullshit
esai morales? seems like odd casting...
Who else is going to see this to deliberately punish Disney for ruining Indiana Jones?
I kind of hated the first two hours. Insanely cheesey, slapstick humor, the expository dialogue was laughable. It felt like the Steve Carell Get Smart movie for a lot of it. The last 45 minutes were great though.
I am a little disappointed by the imdm score rn. I wished it was higher
This is a lesser Mission Impossible movie. The villain is ridiculous and absurd. The plot about an evil AI is comical. Choosing between two girlfriends in 5 minutes is terrible writing. The car chase was above average but went on too long. Train scene was excellent but also went on too long.
This movie suffered from a plot and a story and character drama that you actually do get in other mission impossible movies.
