- In this video I have this VW Golf plus 2007 and the blower for the heater inside the car does not work on setting 1, 2 or 3. This problem usually points to a faulty heather fan resistor, which you can easily replace and have your blower working again.

Thanks so much .. I got one of these ex China which arrived promptly and which following your instructions now has my heater/fan unit working perfectly. Well done! It cost me about $15 NZ ..
Perfect glad you got it fixed and happy to know the video helped :)

Happy to help
usefull video, thank you 👍
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks very much for this - i have the exact same issue on my normal golf mark v and this is super helpful.. Apologies for very stupid question, but should I be disconnecting the battery before changing this resistor?
Hi sorry for the very late reply, as long as your heater blower is in the off position you don’t really need to disconnect the battery, as far as I remember I didn’t. Am sure you’ve than the job by now though. 👌🏻
Thanks allot mate
Happy to help
I replaced the resistor and was till not working so I replaced the blower motor and both were working for 1 month and then only works on number 4. The resistor was under warranty so had it replaced and was working for another month and now only works on no 4 again. Why the resistor keeps blowing. Is my replacement motor faulty now? It was used part.
If it was second hand and you tried 2 resistors then the culprit must be the motor yet again, they are common to cause issues..
Hi i have the same problem it works fine 2 3 weeks and burns again I replaced twice and some again any idea? Thanks
In this case it might be blower motor itself causing the problem. I had it happen on a Mercedes a class, resistor kept blowing after a few weeks even though fan motor was working. However it was slightly corroded and causing resistance. Worth checking if it moves freely.
Ive just bought a golf plus 2ltr for the wife ..its a 2006 model ..no heater working ..checked fuse and no fuse in place ..put new fuse in and turned fan on big flash and fuse burnt out ..question is is it the fan motor or resister blowing fuses ..
Usually a faulty fan tends to blow fuses, so it probably stuck and may need to be replaced, unusual for the resistor to cause that but I’ve seen everything 😂 so start with the cheapest I guess, or if you can get to the motor try to turn it and see if it turns.
Hello Trevor, I couldn't find the relevant fuse. Which one did you change? I would be glad if you could help me.
Any ideas if this dose not fix the problem?
Fuse, relay ? Or the blower itself.
Ok shall I repair in that order fuse and if that doesn’t work rely then blower? Also thank you for your reply much appreciated my friend struggling with my vw golf 2004 on a few bits
@@dallyberry607 but is your blower working in any setting ?
@@DaringBeefcakeno it’s not working at all it was working in number 4 setting but has stopped working altogether now.
@@dallyberry607 oh I see, well if it was working on number 4 then may be the problem is the resistor. It’s very common.
My blower doesn't work on 1 2 3 or 4 , do u think the blower is therefore faulty
Not necessarily the blower I would have a look at the resistor first as it would be the cheapest approach and if you haven’t changed it in a while it can probably do with replacing.
@@DaringBeefcake I replaced the resistor and found that the fuse had gone - working now
@@iy7464 perfect well done..
@@iy7464 perfect :)
@@iy7464 where was the fuse ?
