I’m sad but not heartbroken like in 2006. I’m so proud of these guys for coming so close to doing the impossible when they weren’t even supposed to be there. Florida reminded us why defence wins championships and that in game 7, anything can happen. All the narratives about Oilers storybook season and Florida choking are irrelevant in game 7. It’s one game, winner take all where the best team THAT night gets the job done. 7 games means the teams were evenly matched and it all comes down to this.
I think there was some coaching errors and fatigue that factored into the third period but you live with those decisions and probably make them 10/10 times to roll with your stars and count on them to get it done. They couldn’t, but I’m not hung up on it. This team gave us their everything, made us believe and left it out on the ice. Can’t ask for more than that.

The 28 minutes I just watched were the most well thought out, justified, analytical level of cope I've ever heard.

My take away when I was watching was that it may have been more of a coaching error than the stars not showing up. The only goal they got were from the depth players recently but they didnt see a ton of ice time. The coaches tried milking to much out of a clearly battered and gassed top players and just missed.

Panthers fan here, I tip my hat to your fan base. Truly loyal and passionate fans.
Your team made it a nail biter of a series and an instant classic.
I would love a rematch next year.

This sounds familar to what the Lightning were looking at in the first round. They suffocated our top line, shut down our usual dependable PP, and wore down our scorers.
They did it to Boston in round two, and the Rangers in the ECF. The Lightning won one game where our guys exploded.
The Bruins won game one where they won 5-1, then got flattened. The Rangers went up two games to one because of their goalie. But the trick is winning four games. Scoring 18 goals in three games is great. But you scored five the rest of the way.

Thank you for sharing this. For me, the saddest part is how convincingly they had beaten Florida in games 4-6 and how they outplayed them in game 1 and even 3. It’s how the oilers abandoned the strategy that made them succeed in the first place - their reliance on multiple lines- in the final game. It’s how we had a much better team than 2006 only to be beaten by the rat team. No points for our top players - where was Nuge? Hyman? Drai? And McD? I almost wished the panthers had finished the job in 5 instead of it being dragged out to 7 and losing in such a close manner. This is worse than the loss in 2006.

It hard to say. Look at canuck 2011 since never made it again. Great player like McDavid but he might not made it again. There a lot of great hockey player did not win cup .

That's because they were shut down by the best defensive team in hockey

McJesus was invisible when it actually mattered. Hilarious that he won the Conn Smythe.
Rookie coach ground Jesus, Dry and vagina skin into the dust in game 7. They had nothing left down the stretch.
The tears of Oiler Nation will lubricate my soul this summer as it pleasures itself with the Oilers loss as stimulation.

Here's what I see ....this is and will always be a one man show not a "team" with the "McCupless one". When the crunch came he kept thinking and telling the coach he can do it all... gobbling up all the ice time until he was worn out, and kept playing selfishly ignoring his teammates ice time ....wanting it all for himself ....his win ....not the team ....reality sucks ...it is and has always been all about him ...not the team he is playing for .....send him and his pet coach to L.A. ....
