This stanley playoffs were my first time watching hockey and I am really glad I did because it is awesome. You know what else is awesome? Finding this channel along the way. Have a nice summer brother
3:12 McDavid gets the puck, 3:15 passes to a wide open Bouchard, Bob is on the ice, Panthers in panic mode, the seas are parted and a one timer scores easily in a half empty net to tie the game. 3:16 instead Bouchard is still holding the puck for a second, once he shoots the wide open play closes up and the chance is gone and blocked. Game moves so fast, just needed to one time it.
Mr. Hockey Junkie, love the accent, love the way you phrased everything . I think you put this game and this series in perfect perspective. It was one for the ages and you characterized it as such.
I love this channel. I love your accent. I love that my Panthers are Stanley Cup Champions! Edmonton played their tails off and should be recognized by their city which I know they will be.
Been there, done that… This series brought back memories. The oilers were swept by the NY Islanders 4-0 in 1983… I was 12 years old then. It was the Islanders 4th straight cup. We were devastated. Then in 1984 the Oilers won their first cup in game 5 against the same NY Islanders team. The 1984 stanley cup signalled the end of the 8th NHL dynasty… and the emergence of the 9th… It was an incredible time to be an Oilers fan. This 2024 Oilers team played better than the 1983 Oilers in the final and in games 4-6… dare I say they looked even better than the 1984 Oilers… If they can stick together as a team they can definitely win the 2025 Stanley Cup next year before McDavid moves on as a free agent. Cheers!
Being an EDM fan, and sleeping on the McDavid no-show for the MVP, and trying to be as objective as possible, I get it. He is a team-guy. Anyone who follows this team, knows this. It's in his blood. He really doesn't give a f**k about personal trophies. He was a captain, with his teammates. Seeing him wait for each Oiler to get off the ice. The way he interacted with Perry, who likely just played his last game. Anyone who thinks he's a sore loser, or bitter, well......... you don't know s**t about this guy. In any case, love Paul Maurice, and like in 06 when Doug Weight being on Carolina numbed the loss a bit, seeing Maurice get his first cup, and his shoutout to his family, does the same. Congrats, Maurice. It was long, long overdue. 🍻👋
Perry already said he’s gonna play another year, regardless of who signs him. EDM prob will sign him for one more go round. So the Worm has at least one more crack at it I’d think
Go back and watch the interviews with JS Giguere and Ron Hextall when they won the Conn Smythe in losing efforts. Yeah they were both crying, upset and couldn't give a sh@t about the award but they still put on their big-boy pants, came out and accepted the award. It's called being a professional
When he addressed every player coming off the ice and had that moment with Perry I lost it a little bit. So much respect for our Captain. It’s actually highly respectable that he didn’t come out in that moment.
@@ericbrewerguitar1499 Nice. Contrary to popular opinion, I've always liked Perry, and wanted him on EDM twenty years ago. What a relief they lost. Oilers fans are already unbearable, but them seeing the Annointed One winning it would've sent them into a frenzy. There's always next year though... right?!
watch the Jean Sebastian Giguere clip from 2003 coming out to accept the Conn Smyth trophy. The hardest and saddest moments I've ever witnessed in playoff hockey history. Not an easy thing to do, especially in defeat. Even Ron Hextall who also won the Conn Smyth trophy admitted it being the hardest moment in his career. McDavid was in the same boat; he is deserving of the award and the reason for the Oilers getting as far as they did.
As a Panthers fan, what a valiant effort by the Oilers, incredibly impressive display trying to stay alive and extend this series as far as it possibly can. McDavid will get his ring eventually. He and the Oilers have that experience and I think they can do what the Panthers just did. But man, I am so happy my team came out of this alive, I can forget about the past 3 games and relish in our first ever cup win. No one can take it away from us, no matter how much Canadians and hockey “purists” think we don’t deserve it. Looking back at our opponents throughout the playoffs, we deserved this more than anybody I believe.
Incredible game 7. Hats off to the Panthers for slaying the dragon and coming back from the brink of a reverse sweep. The better team won tonight and they earned every bit of that. You gotta feel for McDavid though. I hope the best player in hockey has plenty of Stanley cups in his future, it would be so unfortunate if he didnt end up getting at least 1 with how good he is. He CARRIED the oilers back from the dead down 3-0. Incredible hockey, we are very privileged to have witnesses this playoffs!!!!!
Nah, Panthers fans knew we still had this. We still had an 80%+ win chance going into game 7. Panthers have the best conditioning and composure in the league, so we weren't gonna get gassed and titled last night like the Oilers.
@@OWlsfordshire no but in the sense that it was a one goal game…. It was close! The bounces did not go Oilers way this game…. Oh well too bad…. See you next season

I’ll always respect a player who pisses on an individual award because they want to focus on their team after a loss. Individual awards are pretty meaningless in most sports and especially hockey, where even the best of the best aren’t nearly enough on their own.
It was the Panthers time, so McDavid stepped away like a leader does. It is about his team, and I am sure he knows that Barkov deserved it as much as he did.
Sad to see my team lose. It was a fantastic game non the less but it amazes me the one of the panthers players can literally grab McDavids leg and lift it off the ice and not get called for holding. Credit to Bob, panthers wouldnt be the winners if he didnt bounce back this game.
I was really rooting for the Oilers. After the rough start, their comeback was beautiful to watch. Congrats to the Panthers, but I've gotta say this was the first time I felt a bit melancholy after a Stanley Cup Final in a long time. It seemed their comeback was gonna be historic, and I was hoping for it. (I'm a Leafs/Vikings fan, so I'm used to let-downs.)
0:40 - what was Bouchard doing here? If he'd taken the man, maybe no goal. And at 1:54 - what was Kulak doing here? He can see the pass is covered, so why didn't he attack the puck carrier and push him to the outside, like Florida was doing all game? Maybe then they don't score there either?
Thank you Junkie for a great year of content. As a Habs fan, this is my favorite hockey channel by far. I think you can easily reach 50k subs next year, and if Montreal starts doing good again, which we all know its about to happen in the nest 3 years, the sky will be the limit. I also believe you can branch out to non Habs content and grow your channel even more, this years playoffs certainly proved that. What about at the very least covering all Canadian teams? Yep, even Toronto. Think about it, Canadians are always starved for good hockey content.
I'm not even an Oilers fan myself, and I'm still bummed as hell they lost. I felt it in my bones the moment the cats had that 2nd lead. This wasn't the Florida team in the past 3 games.
Loss is part of life and it comes in many forms and this was definitely one of them and it'll stay with those Edmonton players for the rest of their lives-losing game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals and yes I was pulling for the Oilers hoping they could do something that hasn't been done in 82 years and they came so close which further compounds the loss-also I can't blame McDavid for not coming out to accept that trophy for the reasons I've mentioned.
A Canadian happy Florida won. It was their turn. As a Torontonian I loved seeing Zach Hyman score more playoff goals than the Leafs combined in their series loss to Boston.
Completely agree. Bouchard’s defensive play sucked hard and ok so he has a 95mph blue line slap shot but so what? I only saw one of those go in the entire playoff run. And Drisaital was less than useless. Although to me it looked like maybe he was playing hurt? And is McDavid really being compared to Gretzky? All I saw out of him was a bunch of fancy dance skating and zero offense. The Oilers played the same as when they lost to Vegas. Boring.
I absolutely agree with one commenter that the Conn Smythe should not be given out at the final game of the year. It should be handed out well after the end of the series.
I always think of after any last series of a sport that the losing teams clothing that says they won are going to be donated to some country that could use them.
Great hockey. Be grateful such a sport exists. The better team and goalie won. Edmonton is a very talented team and they will raise the cup in the near future if not next season. Go Capitals!
Panthers figured out how to stop the oilers, and deservedly so got the win, it sucks of course as an oilers fan, but as long as nothing horrible happens during the summer (2006 flashbacks) the oilers could come back to the final next year, and hopefully bring it home.
In the 80's the Oilers had 4 straight playoff losses from 1980-83. In 1983, after losing 3 times in the previous playoff seasons they finally made it to the cup final against the Islanders dynasty and lost. They didn't just lose, they were swept. Many lessons were learned and in 1984 they finally beat the Islanders and ended their dynasty. If you learn from the past and work hard you have a chance at another cup run. If you don't have the courage to accept the lessons and don't come together in solidarity then you don't deserve to win the cup IMO and I don't think you can. The oilers definitely have a good chance next season, it just depends how they come together and learn from their mistakes.
McDavid not coming out meant Bettman standing there with his pants down getting booed by thousands of fans. Totally worth it.
Exactly- he can accept it at the NHL awards with Gary Butthole nowhere in sight
I couldn't have said it better if I tried.

It was the Panthers time, so McDavid stepped away like a leader does. It is about his team, and I am sure he knows that Barkov deserved it as much as he did.
My favorite hockey channel
Sad to see my team lose.
It was a fantastic game non the less but it amazes me the one of the panthers players can literally grab McDavids leg and lift it off the ice and not get called for holding.
Credit to Bob, panthers wouldnt be the winners if he didnt bounce back this game.
bruhhh ur hilarious man!! hahaha i love this. its not bland like the others!
(I'm a Leafs/Vikings fan, so I'm used to let-downs.)
great channel. best reviews. see ya
It's gonna feel GOOD for a long time. I can tell you Lord Stanley partied all night at the Elbo Room and had an epic day at the beach today!
i wish it was a sweep. this hurts way more. draisaitl was terrible.
Same last year against Vegas the big 5 Hyman mcD drai RNH bouch all went quiet
Edmonton was silent as hell after the game, no yelling or cheering like usual, it was like a mourge
Who smothered the puck on the crease?
the better team won...fun series
Was close… could have gone either way
0:40 - what was Bouchard doing here? If he'd taken the man, maybe no goal. And at 1:54 - what was Kulak doing here? He can see the pass is covered, so why didn't he attack the puck carrier and push him to the outside, like Florida was doing all game? Maybe then they don't score there either?
Great vid bro. Look out for the oilers next year
Nahhh bro didn't just call Lousty "mouthwash" lmaooooo 😂😂
as a panthers fan, greatest night ever
It hurt to watch the oilers play after second period.
I didn't know he didn't come out for the trophy. What a class act
Funny to see McJoseph looking for McJesus with his phone
A Canadian happy Florida won. It was their turn. As a Torontonian I loved seeing Zach Hyman score more playoff goals than the Leafs combined in their series loss to Boston.
Bald dude at the end had a lot of koney riding on thst game 😂
number 2 and 27 would be off my roster come next season.IMO
Completely agree. Bouchard’s defensive play sucked hard and ok so he has a 95mph blue line slap shot but so what? I only saw one of those go in the entire playoff run. And Drisaital was less than useless. Although to me it looked like maybe he was playing hurt?
And is McDavid really being compared to Gretzky? All I saw out of him was a bunch of fancy dance skating and zero offense.
The Oilers played the same as when they lost to Vegas. Boring.
Great work mate
I kinda liked watching Bettman sulk when McD left him at the alter.
I absolutely agree with one commenter that the Conn Smythe should not be given out at the final game of the year. It should be handed out well after the end of the series.
Edmonton was NOT going to ruin Maurice's mewing streak
Bleep you! I'd say every word if this gulag channel didn't censor everything
Great for the growth of hockey that four of the last five Cups came from the Sun Belt and all from America for 31 years
Foegle -Mclovin hilarious youre great.I like Squirrel cheeks too 😂
Mcdavid is like the Terminator. He will be back possibly with a new crew and finish the job
Panthers figured out how to stop the oilers, and deservedly so got the win, it sucks of course as an oilers fan, but as long as nothing horrible happens during the summer (2006 flashbacks) the oilers could come back to the final next year, and hopefully bring it home.
With how difficult it is to get to the finals you know they will be thinking about this loss for awhile. cats did it though, why not the oil?
Florida Panthers 2024 Stanley Cup Champs! FTW!
I cried all night long until i had no tears left...
Still can’t believe the ref waved off a tripping right infront of him just for the panthers to score 15 seconds later
Luongo lifting the Cup did it for me!
Looooooooooouuuuuuuuuu!!!!!
