You know, with all the talk about the great Jokers we’ve had, people completely overlook the perfect Penguin we had in Danny DeVito.
To this very day I'm still scared of him as the penguin!
A penguin is a bird that can not fly
And there are other villains that we have yet to see
I don’t think he was a perfect penguin but he’s pretty damn good
Kolin who would be a perfect penguin to you ? I’m tryna think nobody’s coming to me at the moment tho lol
Danny Devitos rendition of the Penguin was amazing.
Now I hope they Give it TO JASON ALEXANDER....
@@blueskyz8097 I could see that, but before they gave it to Colin Farrell, I always thought Paul Giamatti would've been an excellent choice. Toby Jones is also someone I could see in the role....Same thing with Phillip Seymour Hoffman, before he passed unexpectedly (R.I.P)
@@thelegendinhisownmind7038 yeah Toby woulda been a Good One....
Isn't it crazy that the special effects from the 90s looks a gazillion times real and better than all the cgi in 2020. Gosh I miss these movies from back then.
Hollywood today is lazy
@@Raiders-wm5kb totally taken over by millenials. I was just watching terminator II amd holly shit all I kept thinking how thrilling the movie is with all those scenes of real car crashings, explosions, helicopter flying underneath an underpass! A whole building exploding. Everything is real and tangible. I love the opening scene of the kids park all covered in fire on slow motion. That's something no computer can replicate.
Jake Mcfee Isn't it crazy how many times that comment is said lmao
@fake channel that's because James Cameron was the director and he's not a lazy one as compared to the new generation of directors where everything you see on screen is fabricated background . Cats, maleficent. Etc
ur obviously a
old
person
This is my favourite batman movie. Everything about it is on point: actors, characters, acting, costumes, atmosphere, story... amazing!
And music ! Mine too
yes to all of the above@@MrDansnk
Danny was excellent as the penguin
I loved what they did with The Penguin's character in this movie. Too many times he's been portrayed as just another corrupt businessman or some hokey goof with a bird fetish. This portrayal was of a quick-witted yet deformed infanticidal monstrosity and was so very much fun to watch as Devito chewed all the scenery in sight (sometimes noses, too). Some really good lines came out of it: "I was their number one son, but they treated me like number two." XD loved it.
How in the goddamn hell was he able to grit his voice the way he did for the whole movie man Danny Devito was perfect for Penguin
Even without makeup, Danny still looks like a comic book accurate version of Penguin.
Funny how Collin Farell's The Batman penguin makeup kind of looks like Danny Devito without his makeup.
I really liked this version of Penguin I like how they took his deformity to a whole new level with the Flipper hands
Tim Burton really knows how to cast. Danny’s Penguin was a tragic tale that was more the story in the second film.
Danny is such an underrated actor.
I mean he's a generally weird dude, but some people don't realize he's also playing a character in Always Sunny and isn't actually that strange in person.
That movie is the reason people know who he is dude. people nowadays are suprised he’s in this
I got fanboys putting up Danny Deveto picture around school
@@svekkapung He was known well before Batman Returns (1992). He was in the very popular "Taxi"
TV series (1978-1983), "Throw Mamma from the Train" (1987), co-starred with Swarzenegger in "Twins"(1988), co-starred with Michael Douglas & Karen Turner in "War of the Roses" (1989), etc.
Danny's Penguin is underrated in his whole career
He certainly should have received an Oscar nomination for this role.
Man, for so much makeup, a lot more than Jack Nicholson and for a very complicated Penguin look, looks very organic and doesn't show a sing of makeup, maybe his face-paint but that's it! He is creepy AF!
That's because Jack Nicholson already looked the part for the Joker. He was practically born to play him.
Fynn the Fox as well as having to use a very complicated way of putting an appliance on him, as he’s allergic to spirit gum. Also this was the first movie with a smaller budget and much less hope or hype than WB had for the sequel. It feels like Batman Returns is the first one with a MAJOR upgrade
I wonder what they could have if Jack wasn't allergic to the make up!
Genius! Genius! Genius! He's the reason I started liking The Penguin.
Golden Arches same, that’s the Penguin to me, not Burgess Meredith or any of these interpretations where he’s just some Monopoly Guy. Him actually being disfigured like this makes it sooo much more believable. I mean this is a guy you’d actually understand nicknaming “Penguin”
Same
As a kid Danny was absolutely Terrifying. Now I love his performance! The guys a super underrated performer. And he plays Frank for god sakes so he hilarious.
Best Batman movie ever. Hands down
MAKE DANNY DEVITO THE PENGUIN AGAIN IN THE NEW BATMAN
@Shine On Onew how dare you
Ah it's colin Farrell now
@@kaicraft8144 yeah, and he looks great!
@@kaicraft8144 He looks Fantastic.
He was good
Jeez looking back now Danny was incredible as The Penguin. That movie blew my mind when it came out.
The artists that made the Penquin's appearance along with Danny's brilliant adaptation of the Penquin is a marvelous combo!!!
it is just amazing how movies used to be made. Screw CGI!
Yeah fuck good movies
Yea I agree look at avatar fuck that shit why not just use real blue aliens smh 🤦♂️ I was born in the wrong generation
CGI is great for certain effects and practical is better thanks to chi we get more great movies and more stories are able to be made, cgi made the dinosaurs of Jurassic park an Gollum from lord of ring some of the best special effects ever.
Jacob Graham I agree
We need those. Combine both practical and cgi.
Danny IS the penguin! Just watched the movies yesterday and he's such a great character. Tim Burton Batman movies are the best!!!!
Oh, I loved him so much as Penguin. He did amazing! Unforgettable performance.
I’m surprised how many people here had no idea that Danny play the penguin.
Literally nobody.
The special effects for penguin was mind blowing
Danny DeVito is always going to be the Penguin
Both “Twins” (Arnold and Danny) have been in the makeup-chair of Stan “The Terminator” Winston *and* starred as Batman villains. Fancy that.
I'm glad that they cast the Penguin as Danny DeVito.
It’s a crime he didn’t get an Oscar.
The movie 1992. The special effects are remarkable. It make Danny devito look like a real life penguin. He look like a animal. It's amazing
If penguin ever shows up in a live action Batman movie again they have to bring Danny back. Nobody else could pull it off.
The character alone made Batman such a fantastic movie, that this bloody penguin scared me for days in my dreams. The movie is nothing without a heavier negativity in it. 👍
Danny Devito is one pretty amazing actor!
My name is not Oswald it’s penguin I am not a human being I am an animal cold blooded
Joey Stanley he should’ve got an Oscar
Crank the AC!!! Where are my lists?! Bring me the names!!
I think that line may have been an alternative version of the elephant man
The worst part is that Devito was nominated for a Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor for his performance. Just goes to show that the Razzies have a knack for making TERRIBLE decisions.
This is and will alwaise be the best live action penguin period.
One if the best batman villains every idk why he hasn't comeback in a movie. Or HIS OWN MOVIE! LET'S GO!
3:25 you won't regret this mr Shrek
Best penguin ever
I've heard that Danny almost drowned in the part where the penguins dragged him into the water
Lori Jimerson he also almost drowned while doing an episode of it’s always sunny in Philadelphia
Tim Burton made my childhood awesome with Batman and Batman returns!
Oscar for Danny DeVito👍👍
Wait That was Makeup? I never knew Danny Devito was the Penguin! I thought it was a Messed up looking guy
Same
What? How could it be anybody else? Lol
I cant belive that this is the same guy in Its Alway Sunny
BATMAN movies of the 90's are the best.
i first saw the face of penguin when i was 10 (or something), now i am 27 and it stills scares the shit out of me.
4:28 If it isn’t the departed Stan Winston. The guy who worked on Jurassic Park.
Thanks you for having this uploaded.
Danny looks like a cute chubby boy in every class without the makeup 🥺😍😍
Danny is a highly underrated actor. I love most of his movies. From Throw Momma From The Train through to Batman. A very clever man indeed.
And to think if peewee Herman didn't toss that carriage over the bridge we would have never gotten this awesome penguin
Danny DeVito's Penguin performance is completely Oscar-worthy
Danny Devito was a perfect penguin
‘It’s like taking his face’... and putting a big nose on it mate! ✌🏾😂✌🏾
Danny devito the best of,,, penguin actors.. 😎👍
Danny should have won an Oscar for being the Penguin
This shit was traumatizing back in my younger days and now I see that Danny is quite the actor
it's really strange that Devito did such an amazing performance, yet he didn't get an oscar for it, on the opposite he was nominated for the golden raspberry - I don't get it....
The attention to detail, particularly the costumes, in the Burton Batman films are astounding. Anyway, Batman Returns is great. I actually think De Vito puts in a better performance than Nicholson did in the first. I certainly think this one's an improvement over the first film in general.
Danny DeVito as the Penguin is the ultimate Batman villain. Nicholson’s Joker was an absolute sham. There was nothing scary or funny about him, just plain ridiculous. DeVito will forever own the Penguin just as Heath Ledger will forever own the Joker.
@@ritualentertainment I've always said that if Nicholson had done the role fresh off of The Shining he would have played Joker with much more menace. As it is I think he gets a bit lost in the silly aspects of the film - dancing around, the silly props etc. It's annoying because there are moments where he can be scary (like when he electrocutes the guy with the hand buzzer, very Jokerish thing to do).
But yeah, De Vito's great. I like how in Batman Returns the villains seem to be the ones with the more interesting arcs, not Batman.
Danny Deveto is and awesome actor I love all the movies that he was in my mama and daddy loved his movies too Danny Deveto will all ways be the penguin
I'm sure Colin Farrell will be amazing, but to me DeVito will always be The Penguin
Tim burton movie has that dark gritty vibe but his logic are dead hilarious .
One of the best vilain of Batman
I love Danny Devito.. So much charisma
What the penguin said about finding his parents and his birth name the simple stuff that the people take for granted is true. There are some people who only think about themselves and not knowing how lucky they are to have a loving family and a place to live. And the penguin was abandoned by his real parents living in the sewers, and not knowing his birth name.
The speech in front of the militarized penguin army gets me every time
"My Name Is Not Oswald! It's Penguin. I Am Not A Human Being! I Am An Animal!"
-The Penguin
Back in the days where people really had true dedication for making movies. Nowadays just throw the scenes to CGI. Stan Winston was very awesome that day.
Danny Devito will always scare me as the penguin even almost 30 years later
This is the definitive Penguin
Welcome to the Oswald Cobblepot school of driving. Gentlemen, start your screaming!
Un capolavoro.. Merito anche a chi lavora dietro le quinte, come queste persone..
Thank you John chambers. His pioneering work with the plastic appliances on the 1968 Planet of the Apes allowed the actor to move and make expressions with these pieces on.
I wish Danny could have done a less grotesque Penguin. He would have done an excellent job with class, that's just me though, he still was great.
Danny Devito should have won a Oscar playing the Penguin.
I think it's amazing how diverse Gordon Ramsey is! Creating amazing prosthetics for movies and creating amazing meals in restaurants.
Danny DeVito is to The Penguin what Willem Dafoe is to The Green Goblin. Not exactly accurate to the comics but GODDAMN they make up for it in so many ways that we love them anyway.
Hey I didn't know Dr. Mantis Toboggan played the penguin!
Cool video Danny Devito will always be Penguin don't know who else can it.I always thought Steve Carrell could do it maybe give him a origin movie like they did for Phoenix Joker...
Bravo Mr Devito. On A Incredible Performance by You. How Awesome Of A Job You Actors Have Getting Made Up & Acting And Getting Paid For It. What The Heck Are The Rest Of Us Doing Wrong. Definitely Makes Me Want To Dive Into Acting.
I would say Heath Ledger and Danny DeVito made the best Batman villains
GREAT MAKING UP OF PENGUIN IN BATMAN RETURNS 1992 FILM BEHIND THE SCENES !!!
An utter Legend, love Danny Divito
he was wonderful because he is a studio, theatre actor, not a fucking no name with 2 month of 'acting' learning like we have with all those new actor today
Danny Devito killed it as the Penguin, totally believable. Now Michael Keaton is another story, there's no way I could ever think that he was bad ass.
While I cherish the original version of The Penguin played by Burgess Meredith (RIP), I couldn't think of a better person than Danny Devito to play The Penguin in Tim Burton's much darker version of Batman.
De vito shoulda got an Oscar.
Of all the batman villains Danny devitos penguin is my favorite
Then characters could interact. Now they have to stand a meter apart cos they are computer fake.
Amazing work like the penguin.
I don't know why Danny DeVito doesn't get more notoriety for this role. It could possibly be his best.
Batman Returns was amazing and Danny DeVito nailed the Penguin :) . I found his story so sad as a kid .
Masterpiece 🐧
3:12 she looks like Penguins daughter 😂😂
He owned that part to the point no one could ever touch it again, just like RDJ as Ironman 👏
For me , PENGUIN is the BEST rolę of Danny de Vito🐧
IMO , we will never have better Penguin🐧🩷😎
Characterization and his performance was brilliant!🫶
You may praise Jocker, but Penguin and Cat Woman, Poison Ivy and Twoface also Riddler are my favourite.
Very underrated but good😉
Tim Burton + Batman = Perfection
This was basically Danny DeVito's audition for Frank Reynolds
i still wish we could have seen what christopher nolan would have done with the cobblepot character
Danny Devito should've been a guess on Sesame Street and Barney as penguin and harry wormwood
