I have a question! If I'm making an oil of 100 ml for hair growth using 4 different carrier oil with rosemary, lavender, tea tree and peppermint essential oil what could be the dilution ratio and how many drops to be added in 100ml bottle?💜
A few things that actually helped to control my hair fall include: (1) I discontinued wearing hair ties because it causes tension damage. (2) I began massaging my hair and scalp twice a week with liitleextra cocoonnion hair oil while bending over & holding my head inverted to allow blood flow to the scalp. (3) Protecting my head while moving out to safeguard my hair from pollution. (4) Using mild shampoo again from liittleextra only to cleanse my hair.
Amy, I can’t thank you enough for this video. Over 100 videos out there and not one have come close to the information you have kindly provided. You have finalized all sleepless nights on ratios. Slowly and accurately, you have narrowed down the usage for skin products which have matched what I am using already. Perfect!! I am a soap maker of all creations and I use essential oils more than fragrance. A room mist with an accord of essential oils will be used. It is recommended at 10 to 15% of the pre-mixed accord into perfumers alcohol, but we must mix the accord first to create a perfume. At 10% we would take 600 x 10% = 60 drops. So you have an 8 oz bottle so 8 oz of alcohol x 60 drops is a total of 480 in a combination of your accord of oils top middle and base taking into consideration oils that can cause irritation. Thank you again.
Hi I just found your channel yesterday. After watching this video, I want to say thank you for being a good source of info. I became certified a few months ago, and I base everything off what I was taught in school. Your information matched a lot. You did an excellent job of explaining dilution and percentages. Anyway, I subscribed and I look forward to more true, safe, and honest oily info from you! Thanks for all you do, and “Have A Smelly Day!”
Thanks so much about your information. I'm starting with blending my own oils and found your videos the most informative. I first watched the video of how to choose and blend essential oils and after that this video about dilluting the oils. I ended up with the math for 2,5-5 % per ounce (for the body as I want to use it as a perfume kind of oil). Which led me to 15-30 drops on 30 ml. When I started to blend I added more and more drops from my essential oils so I doubled the amounts to be save. I ended up with I think 50-60 drops on 60 ml oil. I mixed up a blend from lavender, helichryse (a pure one), lemon - sweet orange and peppermint. I would have loved to skip on peppermint but the last oil was already blended like that and i had no other options. Since I'm a beginner I went with it and with the smelling test it smelled really good. I just kept adding drops until the scent was most like the smelltest. Then I mixed the blend with 60 ml of calendula oil and did a test on my skin. I still needed some more earthy deeper notes so i freestyled to mix in just 2 drops of cedar wood (this wasn't in my original blend) and now the smell is deep and still has the sweet warm fresh sent of the orange and the soothing and calming from the lavender but still is a bit too much fresh from the peppermint. In the future I love to experiment more and totally get rid of the peppermint to make it extra warm but I think it's a good first try. I've been looking for years for a scent that's the perfect blend between orange and warm earth scent but no existing perfume ever came close until I found out about blending and today I finally did it and it really comes close. Thank you so much!

Hi and Thanks! Would like your take on Walnut Oil as a carrier. I made my first essential oil concoction yesterday - thanks to you and a few other YT stars I blended a "Hippie" winner! In doing so, I noticed that the plastic beaker I used became permanently etched in the process. Thank goodness there hasn't been such results to my skin :) Love you - thank you! 🐜 PS: I'll be using a glass beaker next time.
You don’t know how great this blessed me! Will you please help with weighing the essential oils because I make hair growth oils and I’d like to know how to weigh out ML of essential oils for 32oz of carrier and above. I know the drop count, which is high as you can imagine, so I’d prefer to weigh it out in grams or ounces.
Sure let me try to do that here in the comments: First you want to always use grams! so 32 ounces is about 1 litre (1000 grams) and for the scalp you want to use about a 2% dilution of essential oils, so that would 2% of 1000 = 20 grams of essential oil total. Hope this makes sense!
What a useful information! Thank you so much. I subscribed and looking forward for more useful tips about essential oils and how we can use them in creating our own perfumes. Greetings from Athens Greece
Can you show me how to make an alopecia oil? I made up a blend based off of multiple videos I’ve watched. But I’m mot sure about the dilution for the multiple oils I used. Not sure if that matters
Dilution is key actually. Can you tell me the following: which essential oils are you using. Which carrier oils are you using. How large a bottle are you making. Once you tell me this I can tell you what dilution to use. OK?
I used 4 tablespoons of castor oil as the carrier in a 4oz bottle with 12 drops of rosemary 12 drops of lavender 8 drops cedarwood 8 drops jasmine 8 drops patchouli
Diluting rosemary oil with jojoba oil. Do I just mix them together or what do I need to do? Should I warm them up beforehand? And how much percentage of the rosemary oil should I have? Pls answer!
How much rosemary you use depends on the size of the container that you are making. For example if you are a making 1 ounce - then I would add about 12 drops of rosemary to 1 ounce of jojoba.
No ... definitely do not ever warm up your Essential Oil or your carrier oil... just blend together using this lovely well presented video’s mixing ratio’s 👍🏼
I have a question! 🥺 I would like to mix 3 carrier oils with different essential oils for my scalp. How should I mix that? It would be great if you could help me out 😢
I am so sorry to have taken so many weeks to answer you. I am hoping you see this response. To mix for your scalp, do not use more than 8 drops total of essential oils in 1 TBSP of carrier oils...let me know if you have more quessitons!

Do you have any advice on how to dilute essential oils for use on your teeth and gums? There are lots of teeth-gum products out there now that add essential oils to things like tooth powder. Thanks so much for this video, please help me, I have my 30ml lavender essential oil and want to dilute with tea tree oil and other carrier oil to use on my acne skin. Am 39years, how can I dilute please?
i would make 30ml face oil - 97 percent of the carrier oil, 1% vitamin E, 2% essential oil blend of lavender and Tea Tree. The ratio of Tea Tree to Lavneder should be 1:2 ( 2 X the amount of lavender to 1 of tea tree.). hope this helps
Hi Amy, I'm Vilma from Philippines I really like to watch your videos about on how to dilute those essentials oils. I really want to know more details about it. Because I like to make my own personal perfume.
Can you send me a recipe for the face for scars and wounds. I recently had droopy eye surgery and I have a very ugly scar that is still healing and would like to help it along with the 5 essential oils you recommend.
Sure. but before I give you a recipe can you explain where on your face you will be applying the remedy? I need to know this so I can share the best most gentle oils at the right dilution.
Let's say I wanna put different essential oil on one mix or blend. Say I wanna mix lavender, tea tree and vitamin e oil altogether. How should I dillute?
It all depends on the size of your container and where on the body you are applying it, and what the purpose is. But a general rule is for every one ounce of carrier oil use 8-12 drops of essential oil. So in this case, In one ounce of carrier oil, like jojoba I would add 7 drops of Lavender, 3 drops of T tree. Vitmin E is not an essential oil and it should be added as an antioxdiant intended to improve the stability of the product..keeping it from going rancid.
Hi, Amy! Thank you for the informative video. It has been very helpful! I am having a little difficulty with the ratios for a 10 mL roller bottle for perfume. If I am at 20% dilution of e.o. in carrier oil, what rule do I use for top, middle, and base notes? I have heard of the 3-2-1 and 4-3-1 rules, but I am not sure how to apply them with the amount of drops. How many drops would I use of each note, and is 20% dilution for 10 mL the highest dilution percentage I can go? Thanks so much in advance, I appreciate any insight!
@officialamygalper Thanks for the reply! But when it comes to top, middle, and base notes.... I've heard of the 3-2-1 or 4-3-1 ratios. How many drops do you typically recommend of each note for 10 ml perfumes? Thank you!!!!
Wow this made so much sense. I’m trying to learn how to mix two carrier oils-grapeseed and fractionated coconut oil with a ribose powder mix with water to maintain a 5% strength of ribose. Can you advise please?
well first of all thanks for the comment! The issue is that you can't mix oil and water together - it won't work. You'll need an emulsifier to make a cream. I am not familiar with "ribose" so I can't offer any suggestions! But one thing I know for sure is that oil and water won't mix!
Can you dilute essential oil into a carrier oil for use in a waterless diffuser? Using straight essential oil in a waterless diffuser produces a pretty overpowering scent in small places like a car. Could I dilute with something like fractionated coconut oil and then use that in a waterless diffuser?
Hmmm...probably not. I would think the heavy oily molecules might clog it up? I'd read the directions first for the diffuser you are using. And try perhaps just using 1 drop?
Thank you very much, I am getting more understanding with the blending the oil but I have a question: do you have to add oil soluble preservatives? To aid the shelf life? Thank you very much for the information I wish I came across your video before I started. I know is not too late.
It's never too late! Yes in theory - you can add an oil soluble preservative. But andyrous products (oils and butters and waxes only) generally don't need them if practicing GMPs. You might want to add an antioxidant to help the oils from going rancid, and further stabilizing it from degrading.
Hi :) I just found your channel and already saw 3 videos. Thank you, they're great! Just wanted to know how should i dilute essential oil with raw shea butter? The butter is very stiff and I'm afraid hitting it will cause damage. Can you please help with that?
Of course you can use shear butter. I usually carefully melt down the shea butter and then add my oils, OR you can place the shea butter in a hand mixer, and whip ti up until it is soft and fluffy and then add your oils. While your whipping it you can add some carrier oils too...thanks for enjoying my content and following!
What is the maximum sure diluting rate of the essential oils in formulating a stick deodorant recipe for not sensitive armpits ? Thank tou for your answer!
I'd try 1-2% but that would depend on the oils, for example peppermint is really sensitizing, so if using peppermint I'd keep it very low, but if I am using lavender I could go up to 2...make sense?
@@officialamygalper Thank you so much for your answer, i appreciated it. It might be possible for you to give me some others examples of sensitizing and not sensitizing essential oils (eventually, a list for each category of the most used ones)? Thank you so much in advance!
I want to ask something. I want to use Rosemary essential oil for hair growth purpose. What percentage of rosemary essential oil in carrier oil would be effective for hair growth.5% seems too less for me.
Rosemary essential oil can not promote hair growth. It can stimulate and cleanse the scalp..with the HOPE it can help. But there is no proven scientific literature about this. 5% is plenty. Remember essential oils are very strong and potent! And not much gets absorbed, most evaporates on the surface!
Haha I’m wondering excatly the same! I heard 10% but in the video it seems like that’s too much…? Maybe try and see. 🤔 Because I’ve also heard of ppl using essential oils only and being fine, that only some ppl react to it.
Let's say I want to use 4 types of essential oil in a carrier oil for hair for myslef. How much drops in each essential oil i should I add to the carrier oil
Hi Amy, I have leg old scars and planning to use the essential oils of Helichrysum and Frankincense ( watched your video). My carrier oil would be castor oil, avocado oil or raw unrefined shea butter. Please let me know how can I measure this. I’m confused.
@@officialamygalper Thank you for your reply. Let me get this right 1 ounce is equivalent to 1/8 cup or 2 table spoon right? If I will do a combination of carrier oil by adding shea butter is it also 1 ounce? I'm planning to add 1 more essential oil for the stretch marks which is Grape seed oil how many drops should I put?
Hi! Nice video. Can you explain or show how to dilute viscous thick oil like calendula or chamomile co2 extract and mix them into carrier oil like jojoba oil or sweet almond oil? I heard warm water bath, but is there a proper way to do?
Yes those aromatics are very gooey! What I do is I boil water in my electric kettle, and I fill up a tea cup qith about 1/2 inch of water and place the little bottle in the water for about 5 minutes until the extracts thins out a bit. Then I use a disposable pipette to drop the amount I want into my carrier and mix thoroughly.
I understand the percentage of essential oils, but im confused about the amount of carrier oil to use. How much carrier oil do i use? Depending on the percentage of essential oil used, how do I calculate the amount of carrier oil? You mentioned using 1oz of carrier oil in the video. Was that standard or just an example? Lastly, how about DYI magnesium spray? Im going to make magnesium spray in 4oz spray bottles. I purchased my essential oils as well as carrier oils. For a 4oz spray, how much of the carrier oil should i use? Thanks
the percentage of essential oils always stays constant. So if you are making a humdred gram bottle (which is close to 4 ounces) - and your essential oils are 2% of that 100 gram bottle, that means you would use 98 grams of carrier oil and 2 grams total of your essential oils. Make sense?
Yes you can! Let's say you make a blend of lavender and orange and rosemary. Mix those oils together first in a "stock" bottle and then add what you need to your carrier oil. Make sense?
Hi! First of all what do you mean a hotel diffuser? We don't usually belnd down essential oils into carrier oils when using a diffuser. So I am confused by your question? Can you give me some more details?
So is it best just to mix the essential oil with the carrier off the bat... or per use? Ive always thought you dilute just when you use it at that moment...or is it ok to dilute the whole bottle off the bat.?
@officialamygalper I think you misunderstood the question. I asked if it's best to dilute the whole Carrier bottle off the bat? Or just dilute with a few drops each use?
Hi Amy, I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to (or maybe I'm just really bad at math, which is true): If I am mixing a combination of essential oils into 1oz of carrier oil (making beard oil) and I want 1% dilution which means I would typically add 6 drops of my EO blend to the bottle. However, let's say I know that one of the EOs I am using in my blend has a safe dermal dilution ratio (for facial application) of only .5% (while the others all have 1-1.5% for facial application). In this scenario, would I only want to add 3 drops of my EO blend to my 1oz of carrier oil? Or would I still be ok adding 6 drops? Basically, would the presence of one stronger EO lessen the amount of the overall blend of EOs I could add to my carrier oils? (I know in my literal example I could just add fewer drops of the one oil into the bottle but am looking to scale so would like to know for future reference when making bigger batches.) I hope this question makes sense. Thank you for the fantastic content!
I understand what you are saying. For a 1 ounce bottle for the beard (face) you should be using 1% or less essential oils. I would weigh your oils and not use drops anymore. So make a stock bottle of your blend. So if you are making 100 grams of your beard oil, 1% of that would be 1 gram of essential oils. So you would then weigh out 1 gram of your essential oil blend from your stock blend bottle. Make sense?
Hmmm - Surgery scars? Can you explain a bit more? You can simply rub on some rosehip oil once the stiches are out. And add essential oils like Frankincense and carrot seed, and some helichrysum and lavender. For 1 TBSP of rosehip oil I would only use a total of 8 drops of essential oils -- if its not on the face! Is this what you are asking?
@@officialamygalper I had surgery to remove my fallopian tubes and ovaries out because I kept getting cyst there!it was causing me serve pain. I had two small scars and two scars the bottom one surgery the top one is a scar from a belly button piercing

New subscriber here! I'm planning to make an oil for my hair (personal use) which I researched and found out that 3% dilution is good enough for regrowing/thicken my hair (I do not have sensitive skin) soo....in 100ml bottle- I'll have 97% carrier oil (can I also mix different types of carrier oils? or should I just use 1 type of oil?) And if my understanding is correct....was the 3ml essential oil the 3% dilution? 1ml = 20 drops means 3ml = 60 drops Just an example- if ever I have 7 essential oils (ex. lavander, peppermint, thyme, etc) that I wanna combine together means......I'll need to divide 60 to 7, right? 60 drops / 7 diff oils = 8.57 or 8 drops of each of the 7 essential oils? Putting them together in a bottle of 97ml of carrier oil, did I do it right? What should I do after putting them together? Just let them be? and for how long? or should I mix (stir) or shake them up instead? Pls let me know if I get it right or wrong because I really wanna learn this

Hi I’m just trying to wrap my head around if it’s possible to get 3% dilution of multiple essential oils in a carrier oil. For example I’m looking at making a hair oil with 3% of for 4 different essential oils which would equate to a total of 12% total essential oil dilution which I’m guessing would have burning effects. I’m only wondering this because to get some of the effects of the oils they’re best diluted at them ratios.
Hey! not sure if I understand your question. But I think what yo are trying to ask is if you use different essential oils - a blend. So what you would do in that case would be to first blend your essential oils together separately - then you would add 3% of that blend into the carrier oils. Make sense?

2 teaspoons of carrier is equivalent to 10 grams. 3% would be .3 grams. so depending on what your oils are, each oil has a different molecular weight. Measure out your oils to weigh .3 grams, and make sure to count the drops. But you are better off weighing in grams for more precision.
If you want to make a 5% dilution then you figure out what 5% of 500 is! Or if you want a 1% dilution then you figure out what 1% of 500 is...so 1% of 500 drops would be 5 drops! get it?
1 tsp equals 5 ml, and 5 ml of essential oil can be anywhere between 100-120 drops, depending on the weight, and size of the drop. hope that helps. Ideally we should always weigh our liquids in grams to get precise measurements. But what I mentioned above is an approximate estimate if you are making products at home for your own use.

OK?
I used 4 tablespoons of castor oil as the carrier in a 4oz bottle with
12 drops of rosemary
12 drops of lavender
8 drops cedarwood
8 drops jasmine
8 drops patchouli
I would also like to know please Amy... is the above recipe a good one for Alopecia? And is Castor Oil the best carrier to use for hair growth?
Diluting rosemary oil with jojoba oil. Do I just mix them together or what do I need to do? Should I warm them up beforehand? And how much percentage of the rosemary oil should I have? Pls answer!
How much rosemary you use depends on the size of the container that you are making. For example if you are a making 1 ounce - then I would add about 12 drops of rosemary to 1 ounce of jojoba.
No ... definitely do not ever warm up your Essential Oil or your carrier oil... just blend together using this lovely well presented video’s mixing ratio’s 👍🏼

For perfume using a carrier oil I would not do more that 30 drops of your essential oil!
I got it through the link now, the blending chart. Thank you.
But nothing arrived in my email.
so odd! I'll investigate. Glad you finally got it!

Of course you can use shear butter. While your whipping it you can add some carrier oils too...thanks for enjoying my content and following!
What is the maximum sure diluting rate of the essential oils in formulating a stick deodorant recipe for not sensitive armpits ? Thank tou for your answer!

Hi Amy, I have leg old scars and planning to use the essential oils of Helichrysum and Frankincense ( watched your video). My carrier oil would be castor oil, avocado oil or raw unrefined shea butter.

@@officialamygalper Thank you for your reply. Let me get this right 1 ounce is equivalent to 1/8 cup or 2 table spoon right? If I will do a combination of carrier oil by adding shea butter is it also 1 ounce?

Hi!
Make sense?
can i dilute several essential oils on one carrier oil?? and how should i calculate that dilution?
Yes you can! Let's say you make a blend of lavender and orange and rosemary. Mix those oils together first in a "stock" bottle and then add what you need to your carrier oil. Make sense?
What is the ratio for a 200ml bottle for a hotel diffuser? What carrier oil is the lightest.
Hi! First of all what do you mean a hotel diffuser? We don't usually belnd down essential oils into carrier oils when using a diffuser. So I am confused by your question? Can you give me some more details?
Hi! no need to be confused. To be clear Hotel chains use waterless Diffusers using essential oils. My questions have already been answered. Thanks.
So is it best just to mix the essential oil with the carrier off the bat... or per use? Ive always thought you dilute just when you use it at that moment...or is it ok to dilute the whole bottle off the bat.?
I'd dilute before you use it!
@officialamygalper I think you misunderstood the question. I asked if it's best to dilute the whole Carrier bottle off the bat? Or just dilute with a few drops each use?
Hi Amy, I have a question I can't seem to find the answer to (or maybe I'm just really bad at math, which is true):
If I am mixing a combination of essential oils into 1oz of carrier oil (making beard oil) and I want 1% dilution which means I would typically add 6 drops of my EO blend to the bottle.
(I know in my literal example I could just add fewer drops of the one oil into the bottle but am looking to scale so would like to know for future reference when making bigger batches.)
I hope this question makes sense.
Make sense?
@@officialamygalper Yes! Thank you, Amy!

What is the difference between essential oil vs fragrance oil and should fragrance oil be diluted with denatured alcohol?
essential oils are 100% natural from plants. Fragrance oils are 100% synthetic, made out of potentially concerning chemicals and made in a laboratory. fragrance oils are already diluted and don't need to be diluted further

And if my understanding is correct....was the 3ml essential oil the 3% dilution?
1ml = 20 drops means 3ml = 60 drops
Just an example- if ever I have 7 essential oils (ex. lavander, peppermint, thyme, etc) that I wanna combine together means......I'll need to divide 60 to 7, right?
60 drops / 7 diff oils = 8.57 or 8 drops of each of the 7 essential oils?

What should I do after putting them together? Just let them be? and for how long? or should I mix (stir) or shake them up instead? Pls let me know if I get it right or wrong because I really wanna learn this

It would've been soooooo much better if you told how many drops of Essential oil will make 3% in two teaspoon career oil THAT IS IT.
2 teaspoons of carrier is equivalent to 10 grams. 3% would be .3 grams. so depending on what your oils are, each oil has a different molecular weight. Measure out your oils to weigh .3 grams, and make sure to count the drops. But you are better off weighing in grams for more precision.
😻😻😻😻😻😻😻
500ml. How many drops?
If you want to make a 5% dilution then you figure out what 5% of 500 is! Or if you want a 1% dilution then you figure out what 1% of 500 is...so 1% of 500 drops would be 5 drops! get it?
What is ounce in ml
one ounce = 30 ml
100 drops is a teaspoon?????
1 tsp equals 5 ml, and 5 ml of essential oil can be anywhere between 100-120 drops, depending on the weight, and size of the drop. hope that helps. Ideally we should always weigh our liquids in grams to get precise measurements. But what I mentioned above is an approximate estimate if you are making products at home for your own use.
