Hi Elly, have you ever been a school teacher? So far, I find your soap making video THE BEST and how you lay out the calculations and writing them out with the formula like I do when I try to break it down for myself or others. You have made it so easy for the layman to understand and a joy to learn. Thank you so much and please keep the videos coming!!!:)

Thank you so much Connie! I did study one year of education at university, but then switched to another degree. My current profession has some cross-over with teaching for sure. It's also hereditary. My father is a tradesman but natural teacher and I take after him quite a lot in that respect. Thanks for your lovely feedback :)

Thank you SO much!! I AM really learning a lot from your video's!! Only starting with soap making now... All the way in South Africa.🤗😘 Here, the soap making community does not help each other....as everyONE who is in the business of soap making, argues that they've lost a lot, due to the learning process and therefore feels they can't just share their knowledge, so that others don't make the same mistakes as they themselves did.... It is really very dis-heartening, and truly SAD for this to be so....😪😪

    Hi Elly
I hope you don't mind me adding this. For people who may get confused with moving the decimal point they can just put in
3 divided by 8 then push the percentage button this will give 37.5 no need to worry about moving the decimal point. This works all the way through
    and also 800 x 3 press the % percent key = 24 and 24 x 12.5 Press % percent key = 3
    Regards
    Peter

    • @EllysEverydaySoapMaking

19:31 August 2024. Just getting into soap making, and one of the reasons I like it so much is that the entire process is chemistry and math. I was a chem and bio major in college and then later became a math teacher, so of course it is my milieu. However, I am careful to watch all of your videos and take notes, just to be sure I have that little review. Your teaching style is so straightforward, generous, and also, correct on all of these math concepts. This makes me trust you, and it also makes you stand out from the rest of the very nice, but sometimes mathematically challenged, UA-cam soap makers. Thank you!

This was the exact calculation I was searching for, even though I’m using it for candles. Every guide on using essential oils usually just tells you how many drops to use in a recipe but that’s useless if you’re wanting to be accurate and/or create your blends in bulk for multiple candles/soaps etc. So thank god I found this, it was so easy to follow! Brb, just going to calculate my special earl grey tea fragrance blend 🤩☕️

thank thankuuu! you are one my top channels to understanding calculations and percentages. ESPECIALLY using grams [ the maths is way easier ] you have helped me so so so much. one of the eo i wanted to use wasn't on a calculator and i learned the test drop trick from another soaper. i have been researching endlessly on making sure i calculate them correctly due to their potency. now i just need to figure out how to input in soap calc or maybe just make notes because it doesn't necessarily let you know specify blends/usage rates. aywhoooo i can go rest my brain for the rest of the night.

Not to patronise, but to help.
High notes =first scent, soon diminishes. Middle notes loiter a tad longer. And base notes stay around the longest, consider the above points when selecting your oils.
Aromatherapy charts explain which oils have which notes, each has. Because for example, top notes are likely to have disappeared by the time soap cures
    Love your videos!!

Hi Elly, I decided just today that I want to make some soap. I’ve been using bar soap for a long time mostly because of my personal environmental concerns, what with all that plastic involved in bathroom soaps and body shampoos etc... and I love finding new handmade/artisan soaps. So I thought what the hell, how hard can it be? Well, after seeing dozens of channels and videos on UA-cam, I finally found yours. I think you’re awesome. And cute too. Thank you. I love your videos, very well explained and very clear. Keep up the good work!

@@EllysEverydaySoapMaking I haven't started yet. I want to a shop were I can test/smell some essential oils before I purchase. But who knows when that will be possible. Did you mention that you used to make soap professionally?

Nice, clear explanations. I do my blending this way myself. Math is so hard for some, you have excellent examples.

You are wonderful. How clear and very thoughtfully conveyed. I was terrified of maths after a childhood traumatic experience but you made it into a practical and useful skill. Thank you.

Hi thank you. You are an amazing teacher.
I've learned myself to do it this way:
Let's say 8 parts of an EO Oil Blend and 30 grams of EO needed in total. So 8 : 30=1,66. So 1 part is 1,66 gram. Than you multiply each part according to the EO Blend parts and top it up or down if your scale is not specific enough.
Happy New Year from The Nerherlands😉

Been searching for a few hours to get a simple explanation, and there it was the whole time on your channel... perfectly explained in simple easy to understand terms. Not sure why I didn't see it on your channel before because I've made many of your recipes with a great deal of success. Thanks again for all you do!

Thank you. Yes it's hard to see all of the videos unless you go to the main channel page and navigate from the videos page from there. UA-cam only shows you what it thinks you want to see! Unless you go looking. I've got many of this style of 'how to' video. Hope you can find them. I'd look further here if you are interested ua-cam.com/channels/qsvmrjWY7fPcKqWHnYVTMA.htmlvideos
