Trempled I came to this video for this exact problem. I’m taking my Protogen as a carryon.... I know someone who put their Proto head in checked baggage and it shattered.
This video I think has a lot of useful tips for us suiters especially when traveling to a con so thank you so much for this awesome as always video. And seeing at the time this comment is posted will be 3 more weeks till FurDU which I am so set to go again this year. And I so cannot wait for. I would love to suit in the plane I’m traveling to and from the Gold Coast in but now I know to contact my airline regrading permission. Also regarding train travel to conventions from my experience if you are wearing a fursuit on a train to a mainstream cosplay convention like Supernova or Oz Comicon, I think you would most likely get away with wearing the entire thing on then to furmeets and small if not all furry convention as that because the railway staff would understand if a mainstream non furries convention is on and there is bound to be more cosplayers and some in full costume will likely be traveling in the same train with you. But that’s what I know in my experience. But all in all, thank you heaps for the advice you given my in this video Pocari.
Newbie fursuiter here (first time suited like, 2 days ago from writing this comment!). Suit transport long distance has been something that has been giving me anxiety for the last few days (no joke, and I don't even know when I'll next suit up like I did previously!), so this video really did help calm some of my concerns on methods of transporting said suit, though I may have some issues with my head and tail, given they're quiet large and don't bend very well (if at all). I personally call the bags at 1:56 Laundry Bags, as that was what I had been using one of them as... before it became the transport/storage bag for my hand and feet paws. I had to buy one of the larger ones for the head and tail, though I did find that walking nearly a mile carrying two bags with a head that is made of expanded foam before suiting is... not such a great idea, mostly because I was exhausted by the time I got there. Might have to invest in some wheels to make it easier... like learning to drive and buy a car. No clue how I'd get it on a plane without it getting damaged, but that's a bridge I'll cross when I get to it (mostly so I don't stress on a "what if" when it isn't a "what is"). Anyway, great video with lots of useful information. Going to check out your other videos for more advice ^_^
The only bit that should be of concern would be the head, and if you are that anxious buy a pelican hardcase. You can customize the inside foam, and they absorb a LOT of damage.
I always prefer to carry my head in my personal luggage, just to make sure it survives the travel. If it doesnt fit in my backpack I use one of those cloth bags a lot of shops sell as an alternative for plastic bags! Note, if you have a dvc skull fursuit head like me, they will call you aside to check if its an actual skull or not. I got that check on all my flights so far, since carrying actual skulls is illegal for many airports. Just don't freak out if they got to check something like that, it takes like 3 minutes. The scary thing is the last time I went to a convention abroad, they actually lost my big luggage with everything that wasnt my head, including tail, gloves, custom outfit, all the art from the dealers den, etc. They did find it and I got it back in one day though, so its really important to have information on your luggage like your name as well as make it distinct. They managed to find it because I gave them a good description of it being red/black with fish stickers on!
Vacuum packing suggestion: I purchased a small camping air pump, which is used for inflating/deflating air mattresses. You just place it against the vacuum opening of the bag, and it works like a charm. It's about the size of a large coffee mug, so you can very easily pack it in your suitcase. That way, you don't have to worry about having a vacuum handy.
what would be going through my mind in a situation like that. "........... wait is that suitcase like a pocket dimension or something? HOW DOES THAT FIT SO DANG WELL!"
Dude this is such a good useful video! I'll be travelling for the first time to Furdu with my partial and am nervous about packing it. This helps a lot!
I know this is nothing, BUT as a colossal Viva Pinata fan, I HAVE to bring up the fact that Peat Fallax's profile picture shown at 14:26 is clearly VP fanart! I first thought it was a funny coincidence that they clearly had pinata texture and pinata-like patterns, but THEN I noticed the LITERAL VP tag on their ear!!!! THAT'S SO COOL!!!!!
Not a fursuit as I don’t own one, but as a student I tend to travel with a gaming pc. I use a big plastic tote stuffed with foam and that tends to do the trick for shorter drives, but longer ones tend to knock something out of place and I end up having to reseat the graphics card. On my most recent trip back to school something came loose but I couldn’t figure out what, so I spent 4 hours tearing it apart and putting it back together. What a great use of my Tuesday.
Aaah, it is a shamed, that eventhough our country hold the record of the biggest record for public holiday, I cant even afford flight ticket for travelling but anyway thank you for the vids though... Hope you had your fun at the convention!
In my experience its alot easier to travel with a suit in a ship, you might be checked but after that you can keep it in your car (if you are traveling in a car) or bring it along with you into your cabin. I have never flown with a plane so I'm actually worried how its gonna go, very smoothly or with a ton of issues.
This video is really helpful for a furry planning to go to a con that they can't drive to, or even a furry planning to move with their fursuit in tow. I'm gonna move to California when I turn 19-20 and I'm planning to get a partial at 15-16, so this was extremely helpful for me. Thanks for making this video, Pocari!
One thing that happened with my suit last year was i flew to Canberra to see my sister, and i decided to bring my fursuit since there was a meet nearby her area and her place is great for photography. This was my first ever suit and i packed her very carefully, i had even put a fragile sticker on the front of my suitcase just in case. The flight was easy, its just when we landed things started to get a bit crazy. Our flight was pretty packed so there were a lot of people around to collect their bags, and i thought since i had a pretty unique bag i would wait until the crowd had died down to grab mine. Eventually, the crowd did die down and i searched for my bag. I saw the unique pattern and grabbed it and sat at a bench nearby to check if my suit was safe, but when i turned it over i couldn't find the 'fragile' sticker. I checked the tag on the bag and almost started crying when i realised it wasn't my bag, and the bag trolley was empty now. My mum tried to console me and we ran around trying to find whoever had grabbed my bag while my dad went to find an attendant to ask if they could call it out over the speaker. I went to check outside and by some insane luck i spotted the person with my bag who was waiting in a taxi stop. I managed to get to them just before their taxi arrived and explained the situation, and luckily they were very nice about it. They said when they saw the sticker they just assumed the security had seen something in her bag they thought was fragile and had added the sticker. i DID have to open my bag and show her what was inside though as she did want to be careful, and she really liked my suit! After all that we called my dad to tell him everything was fine and they both sat with me for a about half an hour while i tried to calm down. When my sister showed up i was still shaking a lot and she laughed about the situation and did her best to help calm me down, and by this point i WAS crying from pure releif!
this video was EXTREMELY useful, and will help anyone who needs these tips and tricks(probably every fursuiter watching this), and your content is amazing! please notice me
Being a ramp agent who packs cargo and luggage into planes I can give some advice here. If you travel with your suit in a pelican case with a lock on it (yes even TSA locks). There is a chance your case will get sent to odd size handling. This means it can take longer to get your case from claims. I have seen a lot of ways but wheeled hockey bags work very well. Keep in mind when we are loading a plane we pack the space as much as we can can. Soft sided bags are going to get pushed and stuffed into spaces to fill gaps. Things are going to get stacked on top of, around and against your bag. So padding will help prevent damage.
Great job working on this bottle episode Pocari 💙💙💙💙💙 U put so much effort into this one. Keep up the good work. Really do admire watching ur videos! 👍👍
Great Video! Just wanted to mention there's also vacuum bags that don't need a vacuumer. You just zip them , roll and press the air out. They don't save as much space though from my experience, but they do cause less wrinkles.
Imagine just walking onto a plane and going to your seat by the window looking out. The suddenly a giant pink dog sits next to you for your 5 hour flight. *Imagine the photo and conversation opportunitys*
My fullsuit takes up 2 of those laundrybags. They have held up for about a year but are definately starting to show some wear and tear. Great for semi-local cons though! You can just fold both of them down and put them in your backpack!
Bless you for this video 😂 my Morefurless head is too big to be a carryon, and I was freaking out because my bodysuit is so big as well. Seeing you fit old Pocari into your luggage (I have a similar solid foam tail on my suit that was worrying me) is really helping my nerves for my first time flying with a fursuit!
If you are travelling by boat (ferry), you usually drive your car onto the lowish platform. That way you can travel safely with your fursuit in the car! (I think... havent actually tried this. I don't even have a fursuit)
my late boyfriend actually had airline staff steal his fursuit back in 2014, there was a whole case about it and he ended up having to go to court and everything. he never ended up getting it back, sadly. i dont recall why but. imagine checking a bag out, seeing a fursuit and thinking "oh,score" and then just..taking it. still perplexes me to this day.
My personal recommendation would be pelican cases. They are nowhere near affordable for most people, but they are built to take incredible amounts of punishment (I have had half of mine driven over, it's unscathed) and can be made to have custom foam on the inside, so you can tailor one to fit a fursuit head or what have you. You can choose the size that you want, and then customize the foam to get any shape cut out, and you can also choose the kind of foam. I'd only use one for a head, though, they are too expensive to justify a large one and who really needs to protect a bodysuit? I've used one for about 9 years during work, and it's taken too much abuse without issue.
Lots of totes have holes for zip ties and you can keep the lid on with those. Just make sure you tape some extra zip ties on the top so tsa can re-zip it if they need to look inside. Remember to bring some extras for the trip back too!
I love your videos, they're so informative! I'll be getting my fursuit head in the next few months and then my fullsuit prob at the end of the year, so it's good to find out all this info beforehand!
I drive a Focus Station wagon now, and for my first suit (In progress, should be done in time for the con in 3 weeks) I bought a MASSIVE Tote box. 39 inches long, 24 inches tall and about 20 inches deep. If that doesn't fit EVERYTHING nothin' will. (The earspan is a whopping 30 inches)
Idea: How about you use the drawstring bag for extra storage when travelling? You could fit a suit head in there if its large enough, and some other stuff can be squeezed in there. It can also possibly be used as carry on luggage when flying.
I’m going to my first con next week and hopefully will have the head, it is a resin base so I’ll be investing in a quality hard case. But for this trip I’ll have to let him ride in the back seat with Stormi while he streams. Also, just became a Patron so Yay!!!!!
We use large Ziploc bags! They're really great for any fursuit part, but I would not recommend flying with them as you can't close them, but are amazing for car travel
So I watched this a while back before I had any form of suit. Now I have a Dino mask and am going to boarding school and even though I don’t have to fly this is quite helpful so nothing gets damaged!
Thanks i have a fursuithead and super parnoid about it breaking. Paws and tails no problems but a fursuithead with big ears n a muzzle is tricky to pack.
This was very useful as I am getting my first fursuit around July and I have plans about going to cons months later. I guess I will also need to do some shopping for traveling too and preparing. I may watch this video again in the future.
Well what i do with a full partial is that I carry a nike bag and stuff my head in it (Its very safe for the head). And i put the armsleeves, paws, and tail with my clothing suitcase :3
Wow geez, who can't imagine I watched this the whole year before the pandemic, I attended my last furcon before the lockdown started worldwide until 2022 we were back until we get most ppl fully vaccinated
another big tip if you are traveling With a hard suitcase or tote for that matter. use some duct tape or Black gorrila tape. yes it might secure it during the travel. but most importantly it will be easier to recognise when you pick it up at the airport. if you use totes. add on some duct tape as well as straps. better safe than sorry
I only have heads made from paper that I occasionally take to school. I'll have it in my backpack with my tail stuffed inside to avoid it being somewhat crushed and I'll be honest, it's less effective that you might think do to the shape
Idk if you still do this, but id recommend making a rough foam base that can fit inside the paper head to help it keep its shape. If not, stuff it with a hand towel or smth maybe? Just make sure its not packed too tightly cause if it gets moist inside the bag it could potentially start molding but I doubt that’d happen if youre careful
Early squad! Since I might have a chance at Pocari reading this, I love your videos and everything you do 😘😘 I’m getting my first fursuit in a few weeks and thankyou so much for all this information.
If you don't fly and need a huge bag, Hockey bags are also extremly tuff and big and the better ones are also made to carry expensive and sweaty gear in the best way
Oh thank god! Im currently working on a fursuit, (My second one, well, my first one was just a base..) and i would love to take it to anthrocon! Im telling ya, i dont know how im gonna get here, but i will do my best to get there this year!! Also, will you be at anthrocon this year pocari? (Love your channel, in fact, you were the one who inspired me to finally stop being scared and finally start making fursuits!)
This is soooo helpful! I'm going to a con in December and planning as going as my sona (which I need to make in 3 months, wish me luck 🤪) and I don't exactly wanna sit on a train for an hour wearing a carpet >_>
I do not own a suit (yet) but I have travelled by boat (ferry) most ferrys let you park your car on the boat so use all the car packing techniques and then your done
Hey Pocari I had a question. When you decided to change your main fursona how did you go about it? I want to keep the name the same but I want to change the species. I already have art made too. What’s the best way to do this? #Q&A
Only issue I have is am going Eurofurance and only allowed one carry on and one suitcase that's in luggage, so carry on would be fursuit head but what about my backpack and snacks and chargers etc ahhhhh!
for planes you can wear it on the plane without the head, just put the head in a carryon bag. ive seen multiple people do this. as long as you dont care what you really look like when traveling you are fine.
Here's a TSA horror story. I met someone at BronyCon this past August who was visiting the USA from Germany. He was gonna stay for a month or so and go to a bunch of different cons while he was here. Airlines were his method of travel, and a couple days after the con ended, he sent a picture to our group chat of his fursuit head with an eye nearly ripped out by the TSA agents who inspected the bag. Not a great time. Always take your head as a carry-on if you can.

Can you wear the head on the plane
@@Lone-Wolf-48 probably not. It may cause problems with other passengers, especially if there a furry hater.
I've found turning suits inside out and rolling helps a bit with vacuum packing creasing.
Clever!
I imagine a protogen suit being thrown in that plastic bin. That would be terrifying!
Would definitely take the head of such a suit on carry-on XD
Yeahhh if it's a fully electronically functioning protogen head, I would have either a custom foam padded case for it, or bring it as carry on
Trempled I came to this video for this exact problem. I’m taking my Protogen as a carryon.... I know someone who put their Proto head in checked baggage and it shattered.

(The earspan is a whopping 30 inches)
i dont know if im lucky not to have a suit or unlucky for not having one
probably both ;D
glad you're feeling better pocars!
Tip!! Invest in a rack and roll! It’s super spacious and has wheels so it easy for travel!
I'm currently in the process of making my own head and oh lord you KNOW imma take that thing as carry-on
We use large Ziploc bags! They're really great for any fursuit part, but I would not recommend flying with them as you can't close them, but are amazing for car travel
Ok you can kind of close them, but its pretty hard to do with the suits in them
Try clothing bags, and then vacuum sealing them.
So I watched this a while back before I had any form of suit. Now I have a Dino mask and am going to boarding school and even though I don’t have to fly this is quite helpful so nothing gets damaged!
Another pro of hard suitcases. You can put lots of cute and furry stickers on them.
0:14 why is your fursuit is most adorable thing ever
Thanks for the help! Referring to this for my MFF trip tomorrow!
Thanks i have a fursuithead and super parnoid about it breaking. Paws and tails no problems but a fursuithead with big ears n a muzzle is tricky to pack.
I’m planning on -begging- asking my mom to bring me to furthemore. Thank you!
Actually researched this a few days back, your timing is perfect as always 👌
When I was at a con my friends storage container clasps broke so we had to wrap the container in duct tape.
Hi pocari ~ you have been my biggest inspiration in the furry fandom- I have learned alot from your videos! So I thank you ~Lexi ❤❤🦘🦘
Extra feet paws trick (this also works with regular shoes) put them in a plastic grocery bag for extra protection.
Relevant with BLFC coming up and new suit I've never had to pack yet!
Wow geez, who can't imagine I watched this the whole year before the pandemic, I attended my last furcon before the lockdown started worldwide until 2022 we were back until we get most ppl fully vaccinated
I'm planning on getting like full electronic protogen head and I was wondering if I should contact airport before to avoid confusion with a bomb
This will come in handy, I'm going to Los Angeles on the 25th
another big tip if you are traveling With a hard suitcase or tote for that matter. use some duct tape or Black gorrila tape. yes it might secure it during the travel. but most importantly it will be easier to recognise when you pick it up at the airport. if you use totes. add on some duct tape as well as straps. better safe than sorry
Oh wow thank you Pocari! I’m going to a con in around 2 months and my suit would,of been broken without your help!
Hey, I’ve got a few of those giant yellow/black storage containers around.
It kinda catches me by surprise when i see you in your budgie kigu cuz i have the exact smae one i got like a year ago.
Oh this video is going to be really helpful for Anthro New England 2020 since I'm going to be bringing possibly 3 suits! XD Thank you, Pocari!!
If you don't fly and need a huge bag, Hockey bags are also extremly tuff and big and the better ones are also made to carry expensive and sweaty gear in the best way
I was going to norway and i was Allowed to wear My partial+ digi legs on the plain I DONT RECOMEND I GOT SO WARM!! I was like dying somehow!!
I love your vids! And your intro! And your fursuit! 😄😄😄😄
What if they take my fursuit out at the scanning thing cause they did that do a Dino mask once and showed his co-workers 😊
Me and a friend are going to a comic con and I needed to know how packing works even though I only have a partial. THANKS POCARI
This will be helpful when I'm older and I own a fursuit
This so super cool and I think it really helpful! Thx!😃
This was informational and sorta funny at the same time thanks
This was extremely helpful! I'm attending a furry convention this weekend in Atlanta and I have no toooooats 😭😭😭
This is soooo helpful! I'm going to a con in December and planning as going as my sona (which I need to make in 3 months, wish me luck 🤪) and I don't exactly wanna sit on a train for an hour wearing a carpet >_>
I am moving by the end of summer and was scared because I wasn't sure how to move my suits. This helps a LOT
What about the Fursuits that are big cuz of the digigrade legs what can you do tu put them on cars or travel cases?
Just take the foam out, and then pack as you would normally
Thanks for making this video, i will be travelling with a fursuit in a few months so now i know how to pack it :3
I do not own a suit (yet) but I have travelled by boat (ferry) most ferrys let you park your car on the boat so use all the car packing techniques and then your done
Hey Pocari I had a question. When you decided to change your main fursona how did you go about it? I want to keep the name the same but I want to change the species. I already have art made too. What’s the best way to do this? #Q&A
6:24 that made me laugh so hard 😂 poor pocari 🤦♀️😂
Ahhhh! I neeeeeeeeed dat onesie!!!
I still love the new intro!
Hey Pocari! I love you, your one of my fav furries! Hope you have a great day! Btw Aussie fur squad!!
Hope everyone has had a good day
This video makes me feel so excited to go to my first furcon :D
My fursuit got giant ears that aren’t flexible so traveling over seas or on planes is a pain!!! I had to get the biggest hard shell suit cases for it.
But for short travel I just use a really big duffle bag
Tails you can just use as a cushion on the plane. (Thats what I did with my suit xD)
I'm planning on making some paws and a head so this helps for in the future if i decide to travel
