As a handler I 100% agree with all this👌 a small trick I have too handlers who are attending bigger walks. It’s a good idea to assign 1 ore 2 handlers to always be the last ones to go when walking from one place to another😁 make sure they know exactly how many fursuiters there are so they can do a count and make sure no one is left behind😊 and also tell them if one of the suitors have left the group with a handler so they don’t look for them. It also keeps you in a group an prevents the slower suitors from getting lost👌 also make sure all the suiters know who it is so they know to follow the directions on catching up with the rest👍
First time fursuiting over 10 years ago without a handler and had all the classics- tail pulling, walked into a garbage can, some kid kicked me in the shin, I brought NO water, a few seems popped. Ahhh the gold old days
On the topic of kids, Kids can be surprisingly naive about costumes especially if you look real and genuine. I remember long time ago I used to take part in a reading to kids program when I worked at target where we'd go to elementary schools and read storybooks to kids. To better engage with them I wore a tail and a pair of nekomimi ears, those kind that move by reading your brainwaves. In one classroom I was sitting down in front of a group and I really exaggerated a lot of emotions in the reading of the story to kick off the ears, so when I acted scared the ears drooped, when I was excited they wiggled and I knew how to time my responses with the occasional lil twitch they made. The kids were mesmerized by me. One little girl saw me answer someone with a joke, smile and wink and then ear did a little twitch just as I planned. The girl seemed kind of scared and asked in awe "What are you?" It was all I could do to keep from laughing and she had to be maybe 10 or so. Then in the last classroom I was standing to read so I turned profile so kids could see the tail I had on. As we were getting ready to leave this one little boy jumped up out of his seat, bolted to me like he was fire and just hugged my leg tightly. It was so heartwarming but also kinda scary cause I didn't want him grabbing my tail or anything.
First comment because I’m a Patreon. TBH, to be honest, you have improved a lot in your content even since the previous video you did on fursuit handling. And thank you for addressing about suiting around drunks. And especially the ones that are furry haters. Like that happened to me once in Sydney on my way to a furry rave a couple of blocks down from and during HCFC. Long story and it’s something I really don’t recommend any other fursuiter to experience. And worse I was solo suiting which I would never recommend any other fursuiter to do for the sake of their safety. Also can I add that as a fursuit handler, I stress that some of us suiters don’t really like to be called by our human names when in suit. And it can be for various reasons that are likely should be valid and respected. And with that it’s respectful to call the person by the name of a suit they are in. Like if I were to be a handler for Pocari Roo as an example, I address the suiter as Pocari and same as if I were out suiting as Bruzo. I only answer to that name and not my human ego. So even if you know the human (real) name of the suiter, it would be best if you could get consent from the suiter to do that. And as fursuiters, we need to appreciate them for giving their time and efforts for keeping us safe while our in public. And respect them while they do their job in that role.
Yes Agreed, the first time I was fur suiting with friends (they weren’t in fur suits) and they kept calling me by my real name, it was really annoying, I mean seriously, I would understand if they accidentally said my real name but they weren’t even trying to call me Azure (One of my fursonas (not my main))
here's a story for you! I was fursuiting at a school event! I was walking around interacting with the 20-something kids that were there (and not scared of me) My brother (11 years old) was handling for me! he had a bag on with my phone, water, extra clothing, and other things- My brother noticed me starting to slow down, he grabbed my arm and pulled me to the side, but obviously at least 5 of the kids followed, he explained that even big pink fluffy cats need to have water, and needless to say they understood, some of them even wanted to help! I had a lot of kids that were telling youngers to stop pulling at me, and even this little boy brought some water to me! (I didn't drink any and kindly declined) So I ended up having at least 8 handlers for that day! I got many pictures and it ended with a huge group hug from the kids, and even a few teachers when it was time to leave. One of my best experiences!
HANDLER TIP: HAND SIGNALS - I've seen these being used before and I thought it would be important to say but you might also want to arrange to make some hand signals such as if say the suiter needs a drink of water, they could make a drinking motion or if you see a tripping hazard you could gesture to your suiter to step over

Handler trick : In dark area ,dont be scared to take your fursuiters PAW or at least ,cling on their jacket !! Fursuitng limit also the amount of light you can see and darker place might seem pitch black for some ! so,always be prepare to guide with a gentle hand
I'm fortunate enough that my fiance is my go-to handler while I'm in suit. He's held my paw a few times, and not only was it sweet but it was a good way for him to guide me around things. And your point about darker lighting is very true. If the lighting is dim out of suit, it's even darker in suit. Cheers!
Awesome vid! I've never handles for someone, but I've had a couple friends handle for me an MFF and an anime con in St. Louis. I would LOVE to public fursuit here in town, but finding a handler is a bit difficult. Still, I appreciate this vid, which was fully and very informative. I hope I can handle for someone someday. :-)
I don't have any friends that are furries in my area, but my non-furry friends are trustworthy enough for me to ask to be my handler. I've actually been making a plan to make a handler kit and even a badge for whoever is going to be my handler lol. Badge design will depend on which suit I'll be wearing, I'm going to work on a couple personal suits, but the back of MY badge will state any important info needed like the fact that I have social anxiety and am anemic so I tend to have dizzy spells. My fiance has two of those insulated cooler backpacks and I'm going to yoink the blue one for snacks and drinks since he's keeping his DnD books in the red one lol. First aid kit and sewing kit for suit repairs are a must.
my sister just straight up won’t do it, but my dad is usually my handler. he does a fantastic job! he’s also a medical professional so that also really helps. He loves advertising my fursuit business and he loves to talk to people about which character i am (i own 2 suits). He knows that i also can’t see very well (obviously lol) so he walks either next to me or slightly in front of me. I’m very lucky to have such a supporting parent who is willing to do that for me when i’m fursuiting, it’s equally as rewarding to him because he loves doing it!
While I haven't gone public suiting yet my mum is my handler and she's honestly amazing. I have autism and suffer from anxiety and ptsd and when we're out and about she always makes sure I'm okay. In short she's honestly the best handler I could ever have
They often faint because the blood circulation breaks down and the head isn't getting enough oxygen. Beside the fact they have to put the head off, lay the person on the ground before they fall uncontrolled and lift the legs up so the blood stuck in the lower body gets back. This often helps to bring the person back and no ambulance is needed. If the person is fainted for several minutes, stops breathing or complications occur, a doctor is needed. Hope this will help someone one day ^^ *medical assistance flies away*
Comments like this always make me thank that I live in Germany... as long as it's an emergency, calling an ambulance is completely free. And an emergency can already be the mother of an injured child that panics right now. Like, the child may not need help cause the injury isn't bad, but the mother definitely needs emotional support
I realized just how little fursuiters can see when I was at a panel that was floor seating space only, so i was sitting on the floor as you do, and a fur in suit who had wandered from their handler boofed their big paws right into me. I also discovered that it is incredibly soft and comfy to have a big fursuit paw accidentally boof into your back. they were very apologetic and it was a funny moment all around
I got my first head while tabling at a con and came out from behind the table to receive it/talk to my maker, then immediately proceeded to try to re-enter the behind-table area with the head still on and stepped on my neighbor's supply suitcase. They were very good sports and I didn't break anything but I felt so bad!
A great remake of the topic!! My wife is an amazing handler for me when I'm suiting and has become sort of an all purpose handler for other costumed folks as well! She helped everyone with limited mobility or senses during masquerade at the last con, even though she was only required to help me! She watches my surroundings and me, and ensures I'm staying hydrated and at least snacking. We have an insulated backpack made for hiking with water bottles that she wears, with pouches for phone and such, a water and ice hydration pouch with drinking noodle, snacks, and emergency ice packs! She is great at doing photos as well :) She is my everything and an incredible handler, and several local furry friends know she is reliable!
I actually once was public fursuiting, and then I, and some kids were running to the zip line, and I accidentally backhanded a kid in the face with my paw. Oh god did I feel bad!!! The kid was okay thank god, but they fell over...! Hahaha
It’s quite nice that you mention about that video 3 years ago lol it sure was fun but interesting as well, yeah but the mention of the Tail Pulling omg that’s still is and will always remain as a no-no I always recommend what Pocari mention in this video.
Awesome, Pocari. I've been looking at my feed all week waiting for a blue dot next to your name. Just finished watching a video and the screen showed a bunch of vids and there was a Roo-deo that I thought I had seen, but the screenshot looked different. I moused over and saw "re-bottled"...OOH! NEW ROO-DEO!! Gotta watch it! Gotta watch it! Verdinan Fluffpaw is very happy now.
The only time I've really gone public suiting was on Halloween this year with my best friend and her sibling; she helped me to navigate everything and pick up some of the candy that I couldn't grab with my paws xD I don't know what I would've done without her.
Ok I’m not a fursuiter (yet) but I’ve always thought of this and you should try a hockey water bottle! Specifically the ones with a big long straw built in! It’s made to be stuck into a helmet and some of them hold a lot of water so I feel like it would be super helpful when trying to stick a water bottle in a fursuit head
Being a handler is what I would recommend for people who don’t have a suit, but still want to be a really active part of community, or have friends that want to go fursuiting.
My normal handler is my mom but where I normally suit at is odd but it's fun is a wrestling promotion. I did ask the promoter and booker before hand if I can suit there and they said that we could see how it went. From there it went well and the promotion loved it and I had a blast. Since then the promotion has relocated to new building and we have more fans and kids coming around. I laugh at one thing though sometimes the kids of the wrestlers act as my handlers now when they used to be tail pullers. These kids talk to those who pull my tail or tug on me or even run into my legs and let them I can't really see them and that it's not ok to pull on tails. It's a odd thing to see but it works.
ok so i took your advice, and i was fursuit handling for 4 of my furry friends. im new to the fandom and they had been there for a while, but they said i was really good at handling UwU thank you so much pocari, for this video!
Wow! Just a couple days ago I showed my partner your old one of these and now you’ve come up with an updated one! Incredible, you never cease to amaze and assist me in my furry journey Pocari!
My mom has always been me and my dads handler when we cosplay. Comes in handy when I'm wearing that big mandalorian helmet lol. When I start fursuiting, my dad or mom might be my handler because they have experience in cosplaying.
My brother got his suit this year, so I will most definitely be his handler at cons. This video was very helpful since it mentioned some things that I hadn't thought about such as the first aid kit. Thanks!
another tip for handers walkie talkies great when some need a restroom break and you can’t fallow them in or breaks off during a con. If possible try to by the small ones that can be worn like head set in side the head. Keep in mind however that this may not be suitable for all suits and to discuss it with its owner
I've never suited before, but I saw this one video where a hater was at a furry convention (probably verbally harassing all the fursuiters) and this one young fur had her mom as her handler. The mom basically shooed the handler away. So if you can't find a friend who will be available for fursuit handling (ESPECIALLY if you're a younger suiter), try asking your parents as they know when you're feeling unwell or are uncomfortable in big crowds.
I fully agree that suiters need handlers in public. Unfortunately I experienced handling a suiter behaving badly. It was fine at first but then at the end of the meet, he thought it would be a good idea to try doing pull ups in suit on an awning. The awning came crashing down and although no one was hurt, he had to pay for the damages and it gave our group a bad rep for a while.

It’s also beneficial to ask if the suited is a silent suited or not. If they are you’ll have to learn a bit about the suit so you can speak on their behalf.
Aah I needed this video! Gonna go fursuiting for the first time when I can go to cons again and my best friend goes with me, so she can help me. Thanks for this info!
This is mostly excellent advice, thank you for making the video! I would like to point out, especially given the Australian accent...in a realistic sense, more often than not there will be drinking around fursuiters. I hope in the future, to include advice that recognizes this context. Let's face it, completely avoiding alcohol and fursuiting is nigh impossible I'm sorry if you disagree, but...especially coming from an Australian it's a bit extreme to try to completely avoid
Oh my gosh, literally 4 weeks ago some dudes literally started barking at us and then chased us and poured flower and soap on us, we didn't even have our suit on at the time, they were 16-17 yo boys
I have a confession... I’ve been fursuiting for a few years now and I’ve never had a handler. I usually suit with other people around that i know anyways (but not all the time), but i just dont really feel a need for a handler i guess. I’m not afraid to break the magic so i can usually resolve situations on my own and i carry everything i could need on me in a backpack i can access easily so I don’t need someone to give me water or anything. Also my suit has great vision (it’s pretty much the same level as not wearing a fursuit bc of the eye placement which is pretty cool) so I don’t have to worry about bumping into stuff. All I’m saying is it’s possible to fursuit without a handler and be alright lol
What about using a stick to help with unseen hazards if you don't have a handler? Even with a handler it may still be a good idea to have a tool like that will likely be useful for those who have poor vision as is without a fursuit head on.
so when it comes to getting a fursuiter out of costume especially in the case of over heating start with the head most of your heat goes there... and also if you are dealing with over heating make sure they sip water and not gulp it all down at once...
Thanks for making this video! I never really planned on suiting without a handler anyway, since I am a minor, but it still could be good use for the future. I plan on going to my first convention in 2021.
Hi pocari I am a young furry and you helped me be more open to the furry fandom and I'm actually getting a raptor mask in the mail so I'm going to have a fursuit to!😁😄🦖
I’m maybe gonna show this to one of my close friends, since they said they liked furries and had no problem with them. Only once I get a fursuit though, still saving up for one
I am saving up to buy a fursuit, I don't what my dad thinks of furries, but when I explained it to my mum (mom for you americans out there in the comments) she was very supportive (if not a little confused about the concept) she offered to order me a fursuit for my birthday, and i had to explain that fursuits can cost anywhere between 800aud to 3000aud just for a partial, she still offered, but I would feel oh so guilty lol, I love you mum.
One time when I was little I went out fursuiting alone and was surrounded by a bunch of kids who were trying to tear my head off well this old man who hated me a lot just stood there watching shaking his head at me thank god a GOOD PERSON told them off

That took me a damn minute to read
@@Freakishlybad I’m sorry. I just had a lot to say about the topic and my experiences without it IMO.
here's a story for you!
HANDLER TIP:
HAND SIGNALS - I've seen these being used before and I thought it would be important to say but you might also want to arrange to make some hand signals such as if say the suiter needs a drink of water, they could make a drinking motion or if you see a tripping hazard you could gesture to your suiter to step over

One thing you do A LOT as a handler is tucking in handpaws... all the time XD
I'm a suiter and even I know exactly what you mean.
@@jeremychicken3339 tucking the wrist part of the paw under the arm sleeve

I am excited to go to my first cosplay con in 2021. Its called magneticon, which is held in my home city! My parents said they may take me!!!
my sister just straight up won’t do it, but my dad is usually my handler. he does a fantastic job! he’s also a medical professional so that also really helps.
In short she's honestly the best handler I could ever have
"If they faint, call an ambulance"
**ambulance costs like $300-$500+ in US**
Guess im not getting a fursuit :')))
Meanwhile outside of America people will not risk their life because people don't have money
Well and fursuits are like $10000000
They often faint because the blood circulation breaks down and the head isn't getting enough oxygen.
You lot really have to pay for ambulances?? That makes me sad
Hahaha
Ah, the perfect feeling of waking up to a new Pocari vid
Fax
I watched your old video and I think this new one is a big improvement!
It’s quite nice that you mention about that video 3 years ago lol it sure was fun but interesting as well, yeah but the mention of the Tail Pulling omg that’s still is and will always remain as a no-no I always recommend what Pocari mention in this video.
This is great! One of my friends is going to be my fursuit handler, so this will be so helpful for them!
"Suiters misbehaving"
*insert any clip of mosfet wearing Maverick while beta just has to watch on in horror*
The only time I've really gone public suiting was on Halloween this year with my best friend and her sibling; she helped me to navigate everything and pick up some of the candy that I couldn't grab with my paws xD
I don't know what I would've done without her.
Oh the look down first before walking forward method has definitely prevented me from yeeting kids into the atmosphere. More than once XD
Wow! Just a couple days ago I showed my partner your old one of these and now you’ve come up with an updated one! Incredible, you never cease to amaze and assist me in my furry journey Pocari!
The 1 dislike was from a child who got booted over because they were out of line of vision. (Btw Looooove your vids pocari!)
My mom has always been me and my dads handler when we cosplay. Comes in handy when I'm wearing that big mandalorian helmet lol. When I start fursuiting, my dad or mom might be my handler because they have experience in cosplaying.
I'm going to my first con next year! I'll be going to Scotiacon! I'm so excited!!
Scotiacon 2021?
@@Kaukag5656 Yeah!
The awning came crashing down and although no one was hurt, he had to pay for the damages and it gave our group a bad rep for a while.
hey i'm going to do captions for this video because *why not?*, i just like to do this, please don't scream at me if i get a word wrong, i'm trying my hardest!
Hello!, and Welcome to another Bottle Episode!, If you're feeling a bit of Deja Vu, Don't worry, I HAVE Done another video on Fursuit handling before, But, That was THREE WHOLE YEARS AGO!, For 'The Bottle' episode 13, We're now up to 'The Bottle' episode 96!, I like to think that My video making abilities have improved, Like, 10-Fold since then so I think it's due for a wee bit of a redo!, So lets just right on in! 'What is a Fursuit Handler?, Also called Fursuit Spotters, or Fursuit Reminders, Handlers are people that aren't Suiting and have been Assigned or Volunteered to look after one or more Fursuiters, Usually in the case of Public Fursuiting, This is because when you wear a Fursuit, It, GREATLY, Diminishes your senses, You can't HEAR as well, You can't FEEL as much, And you've got NO PERIPHERAL VISON, Like, I'm going to put my hands next to my head and then slowly move them in, Because at the moment, I can't see them so, A bit more, still can't see them... THERE, About there is where I can JUST see my paw pads, Or we do the below one as well, Still can't see, Still can't see, Still can't see- About there, So ANYTHING that's below here, Or behind here, I can't see that!, Or cup your hands around your eyes- HA SEE I SAID IT RIGHT THAT TIME!- cup your eyes around your hands-, Like little pretend Binoculars and that's pretty much what Fursuit vision is like, and HALF That if it's Tear Duct vision like you see in most Realistic Fursuits, This can actually make it quite dangerous to go Fursuiting in public places without someone to look out for you!, The LAST thing you want is to be Prancing around a public park And suddenly you trip on a Tree root that you didn't see, You hurt your back super badly, And nobody is there to help you, Or be Fursuiting on the beach when Heatstroke strikes you out of nowhere, And you NEED a bottle of water but it's a Five minute walk away in your car, So today, I'm going to be giving you all the Tips and Tricks to become the most EPIC Fursuit Handler that Your group of furries has ever seen, While I'd always rather to be the Fursuiter, I do enjoy Handling as well!, Because knowing that you've made someone else's Fursuiting Experience an Amazing and Easy one is rewarding in itself!
*sobs in tired*
please let me know if I should do more, for now, this will be a posted comment, and I will watch the rest of this video, I just want to rest from typing a bit
It’s also beneficial to ask if the suited is a silent suited or not. If they are you’ll have to learn a bit about the suit so you can speak on their behalf.
yeah one time my 5 year old brother pulled my tail off the belt loop while i was wearing it- and i dont even have a full suit
Like the great captain blast'em ones said if someone bothering you the way to do it is ask them politely but firmly to leave
I haven’t been to a con in suit yet and having the time to pick a handler is gonna be incredibly helpful. Especially with an updated guide.
Aah I needed this video! Gonna go fursuiting for the first time when I can go to cons again and my best friend goes with me, so she can help me. Thanks for this info!
My sister is going to be my handler and I am going to be hers. It's a win-win. We also set up a system if we get in these types of situations.
I would love to go to a con but its expensive
Pocari: I made another video, but that was *three years ago*
Me: wow, I've been watching pocari for at least three years?
This is mostly excellent advice, thank you for making the video!
I would like to point out, especially given the Australian accent...in a realistic sense, more often than not there will be drinking around fursuiters. I hope in the future, to include advice that recognizes this context. Let's face it, completely avoiding alcohol and fursuiting is nigh impossible
I'm sorry if you disagree, but...especially coming from an Australian it's a bit extreme to try to completely avoid
the thumbnail is absolute gold
Oh my gosh, literally 4 weeks ago some dudes literally started barking at us and then chased us and poured flower and soap on us, we didn't even have our suit on at the time, they were 16-17 yo boys
I love these videos. Also, love that you've called it 're-bottled'!
I just heard your intro song blasting from the living room.
Hi, yeah, handler here! You can never be too helpful. Even stating the obvious like, they're a few trees up ahead, is worth saying.
so when it comes to getting a fursuiter out of costume especially in the case of over heating start with the head most of your heat goes there... and also if you are dealing with over heating make sure they sip water and not gulp it all down at once...
I got the notification as soon as this was uploaded and was about to watch when I was ASSAULTED by the presence of some huge spider, not fun
Wow! I used to watch you! I got a rush of nostalgia aaaaaaaaaaa nice video yet again Pocari!
I just woke up and new video yay! A good thing to start the day
Here’s a quote I have “screw the children’s dreams have pointy tails”
Thanks for making this video! I never really planned on suiting without a handler anyway, since I am a minor, but it still could be good use for the future. I plan on going to my first convention in 2021.

Hello! I just LOVE the HELLO! that you always do in the begin of a vid UwU
I would definitely recommend trying to have a handler who is also a suiter as they might know a bit more than someone who has never suited
Thank you now I have something to keep in mind 👌✨✨
I am saving up to buy a fursuit, I don't what my dad thinks of furries, but when I explained it to my mum (mom for you americans out there in the comments) she was very supportive (if not a little confused about the concept) she offered to order me a fursuit for my birthday, and i had to explain that fursuits can cost anywhere between 800aud to 3000aud just for a partial, she still offered, but I would feel oh so guilty lol, I love you mum.
My mom is fursuiting with me at Antro Con and my dad is going to be our fursuit handler. I'll probably show him this video before we get there.
One time when I was little I went out fursuiting alone and was surrounded by a bunch of kids who were trying to tear my head off well this old man who hated me a lot just stood there watching shaking his head at me thank god a GOOD PERSON told them off
Twisted my leg BADLY this past Halloween while fursuiting, i had no handler and I was having trouble walking for a couple weeks

Hi Pocari roo love your vids!
I RAN TO THIS COMMENT SECTION AS FAST AS I COULD! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BUT I HAVE...ONE QUESTION! Do you like Avenue Q? I heard you use a clip of on of their songs in your videos and I just had to ask.
I just got a shock when you said the first handler video was 3 years ago I remember watching it the day it came out
I can’t stop laughing at “cup your eyes around your hands”
Hey pocari can I just say that you're one of my favourite youtubers and I love watching your videos
I want to be a volunteer fursuit handler once ive got my own place. I feel I could do a lot of good by doing this. Though I'll probably try and find a more experienced fursuiter for my first time handling. Just so I'm not completely on my own lol
