I am actually shocked that no one has caught that all the images of the camera shows it has two Bionz XR processors. Which if thats so its more than likely more powerful than the A7siii. So a1 has two where the a7siii has one.
I was surprised they have yet to announce the A7IIII yet, but I guess that they want the best of this year to be first shown so they hype up everyone with the later releases
At first $6500 seemed like a lot. But then you look at BMPC6K, RED Komodo, etc. And it's honestly not that bad. Doesn't require as many accessories, has tons of software features, AF tracking, and equally impressive Dynamic Range. Plus unlike those dedicated cinema cameras this is a full blown photography beast. Hybrid in the true-st sense of the word. When are wee getting a video on the Xperia PRO?
At 6:55 I feel so skeptical that any camera could AF and then snap the shot, while it's still in focus, with a subject moving ~60mph, ~8ft away. Seems much more likely focus was set beforehand and he fired a burst. Am I wrong? Is this possible??
Jason you are still the BEST Sony camera reviewer on the plant!! Great run down on the a1! It only excites me because I can see a new a6700 in the near future with some more 4k features! Hopefully unlocking some features in 4K HDMI when you use a monitor!?!?! So annoying when you are a one man production and you can't see your setting on the monitor!!!! I am old and blind dang it!!!! ha ha

20:05 Jason I was disappointed that Sony didn't include the articulating screen, as a wedding shooter using Canon I was able to get some really good perspective angles that before I would have had to lie down on the ground also when taking portraits from waist its easy to press upon your body instead of having to use the screen which always move. I think most shooters have never used it and keep saying it's for vloggers but its not, I hope Sony brings it back in the a74.
Thanks Jason I don’t do video so would like an A93.... However does the A1 do time lapse and assemble in camera, and does it do focus stacking? The animal autofocus previously didn’t have all of the focus modes has that now been corrected? Would like to know more about the focus mode to shift to certain subject. I shoot dancers and even with the locked on setting on the A9 I find it will jump to the wrong dancer at times. And finally anyway to lock the exposure? If you do back button focus you run out of fingers trying to hold down two buttons need a friend to press the shutter release lol! 😂
Hi Jason, when you do get a test unit, I would love to see the quality of the 4K full frame footage compared to the A7sIII (and if you have access to one, the Canon R5). I am concerned that it might be like the Canon R5's standard 4K mode, which is really poor compared to their 4K HQ mode, because it is pixel binning, not downsampling. Thanks!

Curious to see what happens when you take 8k video and down sample low light footage, I shot 4K on my 1" sensor camera as b roll at a jazz concert which we down sampled to 1080 it came out so good my footage became the A roll.
As a studio family portrait photographer there are many advantages here such as the high resolution screen, improved auto focus, flip screen, shortened lag time, more manual buttons and dials. But I don’t need 8k video, Ethernet or 30fps. So I would love to see some of these features in the next a7r. SO a7r line definitely not dead. Oh yeah! And I don’t have the money.

When would you expect to see an update to their a6000 line? Something like an a7000. An APS-C camera with 4K60p. I’d have picked up the a7C but it doesn’t have the one feature that I was hoping for (4K60p for slow-mo) in a small body for travel videography. I‘m really hoping for an update to Sony’s APS-C lineup. Maybe the rumored Canon R7 will push them to release one.
@@andersistbesser Your point totally makes sense but as I‘m currently invested into Sony APS-C lenses I’d love them to release the a7000 so that they’d have at least one camera in the sub $2000 range with 4K60p. I would’ve switched to the a7C if it had supported that. I find it hard to believe that they’d leave the whole segment to Fuji and only offer 4K60p for their FF cameras way above $2k.
@@ericmeekey7886 Sony has previously made awesome APS-C cameras so why would they suddenly leave the whole segment to Fuji when they could totally capitalize on these consumers. It’s not like Sony can’t compete with them and when you can compete with them why should they choose not to do so? 🤷🏼♂️
@@jonasgillmann My guess is they're focusing on 1" and full-frame cameras because they better span the ever wide-ranging needs of shooters who choose Sony. If they recognize future increased demand for cameras that aren't APS-C, who's to fault Sony for working to meet it?

This camera is mind-blowing! It makes me wonder though if Sony is gutting their cinema line cameras with their much more versatile mirrorless line. The fact that the highest resolution video that Sony now offers is in an Alpha camera is kind of crazy. Even the Venice doesn't shoot 8k! I wonder if this will force the cinema line to be updated. An 8k or true 6k (not downsampled) FX9ii would make the most sense in my opinion.

True... but of course it competes with the Canon 1DX and Nikon D6 - and neither of those even have a tilting screen. The core market for this camera is sports and wildlife.... so no real need to have a flippy screen. In reality it's only youtubers who want a flippy screen - most photographers and videographers stand behind a camera and shoot whats in front.

You might check out Tony Northrop’s video on this about the crop. That 21mp is supposedly going to be sharper than cropping in post be a of the way it reads the sensor. It’d be cool to see this in video.
Nikon D70, D70s, D40 can do flash synq speed up to 1/500 on board flash or 1/1000 sec for off camera flash. For other dslr, using off cam glad you can turn the camera upside down so the dark portion is on top which is a good trick. (Only possible outdoor with bright 🌞)
Nice specs but no workflow improvements, like direct cloud upload unless you buy the Xperia Pro for another $2500. I'm betting it still has the same menu system. Wish it can do 32 bit audio... hoping the sensor gets protected when the unit is turned off... the A series eats a crazy amount of dust... Hopefully this brings down the price of the other Sony bodies.

Yes yes yes! Perfect camera (I was expecting a bigger body, like integrated grip) but the rest is perfect...don’t need 8k but very happy with the 4K/120 to match my 7sIII. Price, well it was expected, and here in Switzerland it’s almost 8’000 dollars
my tip: if you STOP trying to make your voice deep. it won't get sore. your voice is 'sore' because you are forcing it lower. you're not speaking in your comfort zone. think of a baby .... a baby can literally yell all day and not lose its voice. simply because it's not aware and not trying to make the voice do something it's not supposed to do.
If Sony released a camera like this, I can only imagine what they have for us in the future! Man, they will make medium format obsolete (which already is for some of us).

8k is one of the least interesting things about the camera. The anti flicker mode and 30 frames per second is pretty nice.

This camera is worth like 6 of my paychecks.
Going to stick with my 6400 for now and maybe upgrade to one of the a7 series when I'm ready.
Sticking with my canon 5d mark II and the sony a6000, a6500 I can't afford 6500 for a camera that's just ludacris
The 6400 is an awesome camera! And yes many professionals have used the 7 series for real work, so only very few can justify the price of the A1.

My favourite feature is that you can crop in video using the APS-C mode in 4K. Can you do this in 60fps?

Wont bappen. They go all in with full frame. There is no room for better apsc cams in sonss lineup. The a6600 is almost the price of the a7c
