Forgot to mention I'm almost 80 and I don't wear t-shirts anymore. I wear short sleeved cotton shirts untucked, very comfortable and IMO cooler in the summer than t-shirts. Thanks for the very informative video's!!

Nice effort Friends. Enjoyment and Instruction of topic, what is, in most cases, is difficult to stay awake. I am always amazed at your attention to detail. Good seeing you again.

It's cool the way the camera is so close to the speakers that you can't see the bottom of the gun when it's holstered on the speaker's waste. I love a camera that really close--so that you can't see what is being videotaped. Really intelligent.

When I first got into handguns my friends gave me a few floppy holsters; no charge. After about a minute and a half I found out why they gave them to me. Very unsafe and unusable. Because I throw nothing away, I converted them, using strong twine and a needle, to magazine carriers. Love your videos.

I think many of us are guilty of purchasing a floppy holster in the beginning ... and never end up using it because they are just not safe (certainly not with one in the chamber). I would NEVER gift one to a friend however, just because it's collecting dust in my closet ... if said friend had an accident with it, I would never forgive myself. Teach your friends proper firearm safety if you care about them.

As a new gun owner last year I'm in the experimental phase with a lot of time spent at the range. I have a CHL here in Oregon, and know that you can never have too much training when you carry a lethal weapon out on the street. Your videos are invaluable for information and presentation. Thanks for this latest as it's very timely for me as I've recently gone through about six holsters. So far Vedder is my preferred manufacturer for both my S&W M&P 2.0 9mm full size and my latest purchase, a Shield Plus. FYI, I am sending my Vedder Comfort Tuck for the Shield back as I found the full leather back hits the mag release and pops the mag out when I tighten my belt. Vedder customer service is excellent and they're going to exchange it for their Combat Cut to see if that alleviates the problem. Thanks again!

Neil and Kim, thanks so much for doing the video. I have been carrying for some 3yrs now, and have had much difficulty in finding the right holster. I have decided that OWB is the way for me. Although I am not opposed to a good IWB holster. But your video opened my eyes to a few things I had not considered. There are literally thousands of holster companies making holsters. I do not exaggerate. And finding one that fits is tough. Your vid has given me a new perspective and some new ideas to work with. Thanks a bunch.

Been CC for almost 20 years. First thing I found out was my full size1911 and Blackhawk 44 couldn't be concealed and were difficult to carry in the best of holsters. At almost 6 ft and 138# it's hard to conceal any gun. IWB at 2:00 usually, or shoulder holster if the piece is a little heavier or bigger, considering my clothing, Sunday suit or cold weather coat.

A couple of things that come to mind, every salesman that I have talked to has failed to mention that you generally need to buy one size larger pants to comfortably carry IWB, especially the total conceal ones for appendix carry. Those are almost impossible to draw if seated as the holster is folded around the belt and won't come out easily for the draw. I am like almost everybody in that over time I have accumulated a box full of different holsters due to changing firearms, my physical changes i.e. fatter and the seasonal opportunities offered by cold weather.

The one position you skipped over was 2 o'clock.
I carry in an IWB holster with 2 clips, with the front clip right on the first belt loop and the back clip on the second. It puts the gun right behind my front pocket. My holsters are set up to carry a little deeper into my waistband and with a forward cant so it point outside my legs instead of between.
I agreed that 3 sticks out and it harder to conceal. 1is not a good choice for me because it is harder to draw safely without flagging yourself. If you are seated in a vehicle or crouched behind cover, it is not safe to draw. 4 is just the slowest draw for me to carry and if I'm going hands on, it is more exposed for someone to come up from behind and disarm me while I am engaging with someone.
I have done a little competition shooting and I decided to test which way was the fastest for me personally. So I got out my shot timer after practicing each position for some time, I checked which one I would be faster. 4 lost by a lot, appendix was next to last, 2 was the fastest by the narrowest margin over 3. It is noteworthy that the 1-3 were all very close with less than a 10th of a second difference from highest to lowest. If one was better at everything else, time wouldn't be the deciding factor.
Your mileage may vary, I'd recommend everyone check it themselves.

Great video, and I love the different perspectives on holsters and carry positions. One thing I find amusing however..."cant position". Neil seems to think that canting the gun handle forward "15 degrees" somehow slows down bringing the muzzle forward after clearing the holster...and that's true, technically. However, if you're going to get that "nit picky" about "saving time" , then you must factor in the fact that your hand gets to the canted handle of the gun faster if it's canted forward than it does if not canted forward...and worn "correctly", straight up and down, as Neil likes. Therefore...technically speaking...there should be no difference in placing the muzzle into firing position and getting off the first shot....whichever "cant or no cant" position you prefer.
This may...or may not...be true. You should check with CNN to be sure. lol

The Small of your back carry, which you are against.... the way that you show is reverse configuration(and I'm against that) it isn't the only way to carry . My pref is outside the waistband, canted(how much is up to you) towards your gun hand. In the same orientation as you would carry on your hip(a photo would be worth a thousand words here). Right handed using a Right hand holster.

There are many "tuckable" holsters that allow you to tuck your shirt in your pants covering the grip of the gun, however, you said it, the best ways are to use an untucked shirt or to cover the gun with a hoodie or a jacket, IMO, because the draw is easier and faster.

@@SargeUSMC no there are clip options with most brands like Vedder and Alien Gear that allow you to tuck your shirt. Look for ones that say tuckable. And there are clips that attach directly to your pants like Ulticlip that are hidden with a belt on top even with your shirt tucked in.

I have a question regarding “off body carry”. So 5 days a week I have to go to this place from 9-5 where I must have a 0% printing policy. I hope you understand what I am trying to say. I found that off body carry to be my only option. Do you guys have a better solution for when someone goes to places for a long period of time where they must have 0% printing?

What make/model pistol do you carry? I have a similar situation and carry a G42 with a DeSantis pocket holster. Fits nicely into my right front pocket with zero printing. I wear jeans that are neither overly tight or loose. It has worked well for years.

    Hello,
Really good content, for Latinos is hard mostly because we wear clothing way to tight “A Latino thing” but definitely a good quality hostel is necessary and so far I have tried 3 mayor brands and I haven’t found the perfect one for P365XL

Any holster that can says it can take 2 different brands of guns in it's fit guide, that aren't clones of each other (1911s), is a dangerous holster.

Had to laugh when you dumped out the bag of holsters , I have a bag just like it , shoulder rig is the only one I’ll use with my compact 1911 , I use a slide holster with my Glock , never been able to carry concealed very well , just not built for it

I use my issued OWB range Kydex on my right for my S&W 40, I use the Uncle Mikes floppy in my crossdraw positon under my jacket with my revolver. For the winter I'm carrying on the outside under my jacket. I do like it flopping thinness on that side when I remove it for specific reasons. It's a backup and I have experimented, the Uncle Mikes sidekick is good under there. It's under my jacket and if I remove it I'm completely thinned out for check point. Usually I carry the 2, but sometimes depending where I'm heading, I have 3 on me.

Them things are hard and huge! Except the red one. For conceal carry? Safety tip, as I'm sure you know, for the soft ones, don't re-holster with it on, take the holster off, re-holster and then put it back on or in your pocket. I fund this as a complementary video to yours. ua-cam.com/video/4_OXyli4ecU/v-deo.html
