    I’m excited for the in depth video on the advanced balls. I’ve seen a used core ball once but never played with it. Also I’ve yet to see the Selkirk ball. Would love to see how they compare to the x-40 or dura

      These balls are fabulous for wooden floors. They are highly visible, a much truer bounce than the way-too-bouncy Onix indoor ball, and don’t skid on the floor like the Onix can. All of these qualities allow for longer rallies.

    • @gabelstapler19
      @gabelstapler19 2 роки тому

      @@nursenina8 agree with everything you said. The one downside is durability. If you have someone that really smashes the ball, you might go through one every 10 games or so. But I've also had balls that last longer.

    All of my pickleball buddies are totally confused. It seems that every week some coach is telling us the “best ball.” This video was very helpful. And I think it’s important that we all use one consistent ball during a game rather than mixing it up. I currently like the Franklin x40, but also the Onyx and the Dura. We play outside all winter. I also like the magenta balls because we can see them better (old eyes!)

    I haven't tried the Core and have heard mixed reviews in the SLK competition (warp, get soft, etc). I've also heard good things about the OSO balls but haven't tried them either. Would love to try the OSO or Core balls if you have a few lying around. I think ultimately all competitive players are looking for a Dura like hardness with more consistency in bounce that lasts longer at a cheaper price. If someone invents that (and has the marketing budget) they could corner the market.

    Thanks guys! What interests me the most would be what ball allows the most spin. I would think that it would be a ball that has a rougher surface. And that would make me think that the longer a ball has been in play, the rougher and “spinnier” it would be. Is this right? Please address this topic soon. Thanks!

    I just started playing PB about 6 mos ago. I have an extensive tennis background. We play outdoors only. I prefer the Onix balls with my Selkirk Epic paddle. My hubby uses the Engage Elite Pro Maverick paddle and has not stated a preference as to the balls. In my opinion, the Onix balls bounce higher than the Franklin X balls. I am a 50+ with knee trouble along with my hubby. The last thing we need is to tax our knees with a lower bouncing ball. I would like to try the new Wilson balls when they come out. I have used many Wilson products over the years with tennis and have had good results with them. I hope Wilson can produce a good Pickle ball that is durable and can hold up just like their tennis balls do.

    This is great. I’m excited to hear your results! Normally I use the Franklin X-40 and the Dura Fast 40. I want to try a ball that you feel performs the same as either of those but will last longer. Here in Utah we normally break 2-4 Duras every few hours. Even the Franklins break due to temperature, so we are always looking to find a different/better option.

    • @chrislin2774
      @chrislin2774 2 роки тому

      Franklin X-40s will crack pre-maturely in cooler temperatures. At least that's from my experience. In warmer conditions, both Franklins and Duras lose their shape after extensive play. The wobbly effect. Aside from temperature issues, the habit of spiking the ball with paddle on the ground repetitively also contributes to cracking. It's a habit from those with a tennis backgrounds.

    The comparisons were very informative, albeit touchy feely. Why are pickleballs not rated by industry standards such as golf balls ,softballs, MLB hardballs. Those standards are set by (COR) Coefficient of Restitution, and since pickleball players put so much spin on the ball when in play, create standards for spin, such as Angle of Incidence and Angle of Reflection. While we are at it why are pickleball paddles not rated like baseball and softball bats ,that is the Bat Performance Factor .which measures the Bat/ Ball (ie Pickleball/Paddle) Coefficient of Restitution. We could establish this measurement as the Pickleball Paddle Coefficient of Restitution. Standardize the measurements instead of relying on marketing hype. I appreciate your comments

      I just started PB about 6 mos ago. I have a tennis background. I prefer the Onix balls with my Selkirk paddle. My hubby uses the Engage Elite Pro Maverick paddle and has not stated a preference. The Onix balls bounce higher than the Franklin X balls. I am a 50+ with knee trouble same with my hubby. The last thing we need is to tax our knees with a lower bouncing ball. I would like to try the new Wilson balls when they come out. I have used many Wilson products ove the years with tennis and have had good results with them. I hope they can do the same with PB.

    Would really like to try the core ball, a little bit pricey for our gang.

    I would definitely like to try the core pickleballs, I've heard so much about them but never wanted to put the money in for them

      CORE pickleballs are great in cooler weather but will turn to mush in warmer temperatures. Franklin X-40s and Onix Duras will crack in cooler temperatures--50 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Which ball is most commonly used for pro events / tournaments? Is there an "official ball" or more widely used/accepted one by pros?

    I’ve played with almost all of these balls except the Core. I’d like to try it to see if it out performs my current favorite-the SLK Competition.

    Being new to Pickelball I was given SLK Hybrid balls when I bought my paddles and had no idea that there were differences with PB balls. I recently discovered it through playing with someone who had X40s and noticed the HUGE differences, I was overshooting my serves and drives, wow did Iearn that quick, I lost two games as I could not adjust on the fly vs an opponent who was more experienced. Having said this, I would love to try the Official PB balls = Wilson i mean Franklin X40s - corrected

    Do any of these balls recycle?
    I would be interested in trying the Selkirk Competition balls.
