There's a TON that was discussed - maybe too thoroughly - but I genuinely want you guys to see all the beautiful hidden details and the extensive thought process that has happened with creating this camper. I could see the emotions building up inside of you ( the journey to get where you are ...is inspirational indeed, blood sweat and tears along the way buidling your community along the way!!!!) Episode 3 rocked, and looking forward to seeing the final product and you back out on the road!!! Ps I am sure the graphics on the outside will be just as good as the build on the inside!!! Carpe Diem.....1000 islands Canada
I absolutely agree about the steps.
For many years we have fine tuned deleting steps from just simple tasks that actually add up.
Less steps=more time of enjoyment.
This is a very inspirational build, well done.
Doesn't look that big to me...But I've been seeing a lot of ads for those Dolphin RVs lately (now those are huge). This thing is going to be rad! I'm one of those I "weekend" camp in my rig, but there's another part of having to pull the bedding out of the sleep area: You need a place to store it anyway (or secure it, somehow). I would LOVE to have a couple extra inches in the bunk area for pillow storage!
NGL, I was a little dubious when I saw the runtime of 36 minutes 😆but the build details were captivating and this flew by...I could have easily watched even more detailed depth about the construction. It was great to listen to you guys deliberating on design choices such as the window placement - it's really interesting to see that process as it happens instead of just seeing the end result. I think you're wise to be thinking through facets of everyday life such as how many steps it takes to grab a t-shirt...those are the little things that can drive you crazy even after a week, let alone living full time. These guys inspire confidence with their attention to detail. Looking forward to the next episode.
Hahaha well I'm very glad to hear I was successfully able to pull off a longer episode!! I feel like the informative ones can be tough for losing attention spans. Thanks for the awesome comment Donald!
A steel subframe, aluminum would have been more than adequate. Yes it looks cool having angled walls but when you are living in such a small space a more box-like design would give you more space. I think you are going to be well over your GVWR
Love the tray and frame desing. I'm curious to see how the rear wheel-s will fit at full compression 🤞🏼
Its gonna be so bad ass! Cant wait for the next episode!
Great episode love the details would like to see how they plan on mounting the tray to the truck frame.
What a very well thought out intentional build that’s specific to your needs! In regards to cooking outside, yes, we’ve done the travel trailer with our youngest and we always cook outside! All of our friends with Huge trailers still cook outside! We even use our skottle at home outside!
Love this!!!! I’m so exicited for you!! I wana do somthing like this in the future!!
Thanks man!!
Looking forward to more videos.😊
So excited to see part 4 !!
I am following closely as a new Tacoma owner. I work in a fab shop, and appreciate the details shown in the video. The last few minutes were the best!🙌🏼
Very cool build
I think it would be really cool to have a door that would open like a small airplane door, both up and down with steps included
One big problem is how does snow and rain drain from the bottom section when it is closed.
Cool idea though.
@@J.Young808 I believe they are designed to drain in the closed position as on the airplanes. I'm sure with a little research they would be able to fabric this along with the rest. Where there's a will there's a way
Congats Christin!!
Your new rig is coming together nicely! I really appreciate this "inside look" at how it's being built and what the planned layout is, as well as the whys.
That fuel pump fuse should have come as no surprise to me, as I've done that for an impromptu anti-theft device - just pull the fuse for the fuel pump, cuz what thief is gonna mess around trying to trouble-shoot it. Yet I was completely caught off guard by that. Easy to get all into speculating and fearing all the usual issues - glad it wasn't too stressful.
Cheers!.....from North Vancouver
The departure airport looks like GJ.
why not expandable camper to make it larger when deployed? what they are doing is is basic welding and framing, u can do it urself. imagine u can expand the side, the back and the top. also add shock absorption on the base between chassis and base steel frame of camper. also door entrance from camper to driver seat, so if their is intruder outside during ur sleep, u can drive asap outrunning them. dont forget a lot of windows.
but its alright, cuz its steal and aluminum frame, it can be amended in the future.
Reminds me of work. So much engineering and labor. Going to be very nice! Can’t wait to see you and check this new rig out
Thanks Mike!
turning out very nice! your making all the right choices! it’s not to big and you deserve everything that’s coming your way! i’ve watched your journey for many years now and am happy to see you coming up with your own design to suit you! watch more copy… most people in this industry are content being told what to do from how something worked for others. You stand on your own now! enjoy that, it looks good on you!
So cool and glad you are getting what you want. I’ve been watching your journey through IG pretty much from the beginning and love that you are putting out longer videos.
Very cool!!
I like the direction of your build. More space to utilize .keep up the good work.
Thanks Bryan!
It’s looking good!! Can’t wait to see it completed!
Very cool. Stoked to see the end product
there goes all the rear departure angle ! j/k looks good, should be pretty sweet when its done !
I am totally geeking out on this! 🍻
So cool to see the Boise community is part of your story! I live here and can’t wait to possibly see your rig rolling around. Who is doing your tent fabrication?
Thanks Nicholas! I'm not exactly sure on the name of the company doing the tent part.
@@BadassBrunette It’s cool that we have those resources here. Can’t wait to see the project unfold! Best
Steel tray, why? Even if the camper unbolts from the tray the tray is heavy. Second I would have very deep concerns of dissimilar metal corrosion between the camper and tray. The two will have vibrations that will chaff off any coating between the two structures. Perhaps between the tray and camper install Teflon rub strips?
Maybe I missed it but What’s the goal for finished weight and what’s been done with suspension to account for it? I’m friggin pumped to see this thing come together 🤘🏻🤘🏻
The truck has long travel suspension in the rear with full-size Chevy Silverado leaf springs.
What is the expected weight differential? You lost weight with the bed off. How much are you planning to add with the new camper? With your personal provisions stored on board, are you still going within the weight limits for your Tacoma? Nice King struts, did you add a leaf, too?
Cristin, what do you do with the roof of the truck? Wrap it? Seal it under the camper? Or does it just stay the painted surface?
It'll just stay as is.
Is the audio off for anyone else? It's about 10seconds off for me. Tried two different devices and it's the same thing
Nope, no problems for me
Yes, I had the same problem when in I watched on TV with UA-cam app, but it is fine on my iPad now. Weird 🤷🏻♀️
I have never cooked inside. 👍
Such a cool rig! What weight do you think it will be?
Probably about what my old setup was.
Did you fly from Denver to Phoenix then Boise? I see you landing with Camelback mountain out the window and then you are in Boise. Couldn't figure it out.
Good eye. Yes it was connecting flight.
@@BadassBrunette Doesn't that suck that you have to go South to go North!
I live in SLC and I am from Phoenix originally, so I am always looking at mountain landmarks. Also the palms trees out the window as you land.
Yea,I had to go back and see that landing again because I was expecting to see Boise, but the coloring was all wrong and got me thinking about Phoenix. Thanks to Brian for reminding me of the name: Camelback.
👍🏼
When I see all these incredible campers I always have the same question. What do you do for a living that you can afford this stuff. This stuff is definitely not cheap! I’ve had my Tacoma for about 8 years now and I’ve. Even doing so much research and I’m leaning towards the vagabond. So what do you do?
