- Over the winter Ben took the Tacoma off the road and begun a lengthy process of building a flat deck and canopy for his truck. Using knowledge and insight from being an Australian wheeler he built this great looking flat deck from scratch for the first time.
That then and now weld shot was inspiring, man. I need to get better at welding. Appreciate it 👍
Looks like your dog is living his best life!
Wicked set up man!
Haha. Great video. The welds got me 😂
Cool I just found the walk around video on your truck,. Very nice
Deck looks good and well done. Looking forward to meeting up and doing a run later for sure
Yes for sure, once it's safe to mingle with people a camping trip would be great
Yeah Ben-o! Now come over and help us with our flat deck :-)
Good looking truck. Im working on a similar build but on my ram 2500.
Absolutely loved this!
Great idea's for myself for later with either this vehicle or a future one!
That build was sturdy as!
Thanks very much, really appreciate it
This is awesome man!! I’m trying to convert my 3rd gen into a flatbed. Help me build mine lol we’re from bc too
Love the Ute look and even more that it's build from scratch! Instead of a drop bracket 6" lift why not just SAS your truck?
Yeah it had the drop bracket in it when I bought it. That truck is gone now and I have the 80 series Landcruiser. If I had another Tacoma I would sas it that's for sure
Cool dog
Haha yeah. He is a nut case
Hey man beautiful rig. I just built a flatbed on my 1st gen Tacoma, and I am using the same style lights. I am having issues with the turn signals not working when the running lights are on did you run into this issue with yours?
Nice build. What are your dimensions on the headache rack?
It sits level when all the mounting points are 4 inches??
This looks great. Just subd to your channel good to see some BC offroad content on the tube. Why do you think more people dont make rear trays in Canada? Love the look
I'm not sure to be honest. It's a great look in my opinion and great for offroading as there is less Body panels to get damaged.
Have you got a link to the rear lights ?
Like how you did the Mud flaps, ever have problems with mud, pebbles, sand hitting the lower backside of cab?
Yes I do get mud hitting that area. But the plan is to put little tool boxes in that space and relocate the fuel filler
Hey Ben, having done some 4WDing in oz, how would you compare the Hilux vs tacoma for overloading/offroading? Super curious. Would the tacoma suffice in Australia?
It all depends on what year Hilux and Tacoma your talking about. My old Hilux was alot better then my Tacoma but these days the new Hilux and new Tacoma are all just made out of plastic anyway
Hey where did you get your steelies? I'm out in Penticton and looking for them for my fzj80. Having a hell of a time finding at least 8" wide ones.
Hey I bought them off a friend. Sorry I can't be more help on that one
Hey I was wondering how you mounted the gas filler cap. I couldn’t see really see it in the video.
Most trays will have it mounted unter the tray i front of the wheel guard with a lockable filler cap
Makes me want to sell the Hilux and import a Tacoma over here haha, not that I could have lift and tyres like that and not get pulled over as soon as I left the driveway haha
Why would you get pulled over for having a lift and off-road tires?
Brother Awesome Rig but what is the load out of the inside boxes? Best Regards!
