Her precocious charm reminds me of Angelina Jordan’s early years; both gifted with raw talent from the beginning, and nurtured by equally accomplished parents.
In typical news media, the term, "prodigy" is overused. I've seen a number of kids who are simply, "good" and suddenly they're on A.B.C. or N.B.C. news. This young lady INVENTED that term! I have seen Stanley Clarke 3 times, Victor twice, and Marcus Miller twice. When I first saw her, I was hoping one day she would meet Victor. Turns out they are friends, and he's a mentor! I CAN'T WAIT to see where Ellen will be in only one more year! ❤She has a GREAT DAD also, and the way he interacts with her is a model for modern parents!
Dave, thanks for this wonderful interview. You're a natural interviewer and you did a great job with a subject you could not have prepared for. I discovered Ellen only a few weeks ago. I have been turning to her videos anytime I needed a shot of sunshine along with monster grooves. I'm sorry to say that since her stuff ranges from around age 9 to now, I just don't want her to grow up. Her good humor and propensity to giggle we're so endearing that when you combine them with her talent, you just don't want it to ever end. I don't think she giggled once during this interview, an example of why I didn't want her to grow up (of course I'm half joking). The reason she wasn't giggling is that she did a fabulous job as an interviewee. But I would like to encourage Ellen not to lose that tendency. One of my sister's was a natural giggler and she kept it all her life: at the end of a sentence, it could be about anyting, she might throw in a quick little giggle, and it just made everything nicer. I know she was preoccupied with doing a good job, and I can't wait to see her next video when she's relaxed and doing what she loves. I also want to say that I will be a regular visitor here because though I am primarily a guitar player, I love to play bass and if the song isn't too challenging I can hold down a pretty good groove. You seem like a really nice guy and I hope to have something to contribute occasionally. Thanks and bye for now!
Few are genuine prodigies - they might be darned good musicians and deserve praise for that - but Ellen is truly exceptional. Dad has recognised what she's capable of and nurtured her so well. 😊
She's an example of how parents can being out the best of their children by spending much quality time with them and being involved in their world. That is what makes a successful parent and an absentee parent can't expect the same results !
She's a sweet and great personality at her age, for years already, and it's clear dad and she have bonded over music. It's also clear that dad is actually a great musician. Less clear is that her mother must be totally "in" on this too, and probably plays an equally important role, while staying out of view of the cameras most of the time.
As a pro musician, she simply makes me smile. It's heartwarming to see parents instilling so much love and passion for music in their child. Her access to a badass studio and a range of instruments is obviously paying dividends. She's gonna be a force to be reckoned with. She's such a little cutie, I bet her parents are so proud. She deserves the bright future she has.
I love Ellen. I have many bad days. But whenever i can watch one of her videos, I ALWAYS feel better. Ellen- your love of life is so special. It’s not just your talent- it’s you inner sunshine that makes you special. All of us are better people simply because you exist. Thank you, God bless you.
Ellen rocks! I've been following her ever since she was 8 years old and she did the Led Zep cover of "The Ocean" with teenage band members. At the time, Ellen was by far the youngest and tiniest, but she absolutely killed it! She fluently held the groove with the other band members, some of whom were nearly twice her age. Keep up the good work and keep on rockin' Ellen!
Ellen is a joy to watch play her bass. She plays so very well at such a young age. I love watching her videos. Having a father that is a musician I think had a big influence on Ellen. He must be so very proud of Ellen.Ellen is just absolutely amazing. I see a great career ahead of her!!
That was fun! She is so sweet and respectful. Keeping her answers, brief, and fielding the questions nicely! It might have been hard to hear each other, so she didn’t have a chance to let loose and really show her great personality. I could see she was almost ready to say some funny things, but kept it in. But still very entertaining. And we always look forward to seeing her laugh and smile.😝🤘🏻🎸🇺🇸
She's truly amazing 👍 I really love watching her grow and get better and better, it's mind blowing 💯 I believe she's a legend on the rise. She's such a pleasure, Can't wait to see her jamming in a band ❤️ 🎶
Ellen is soooo adorable! I’ve been watching her for over two years now and her progression is beyond amazing. Her smile is infectious and her fingers are a gift! You go, Ellen!!
I’m in the same position, been playing for years but I’ll never be as good as Ellen, but that’s ok, I enjoy playing, and when I’m feeling down, watching her play puts a smile on my face. 😊
@17:34 "What is the most important thing that a bass player should do?" Ellen...."ENJOY IT"!!!!! That is the best thing I have EVER heard. Bless you!!!!
She growing and maturing. That’s awesome to see. Same cute smile and beautiful hair. I liked how her answers were honest short and simple. See that shows how she’s maturing. One cute talented little girl that is a joy to watch. Don’t stop. ❤️❤️❤️
I'd love to see Ellen do more projects with Yoyoka the drummer. Both are incredibly talented and their enthusiasm is apparent. Keep on smiling and playing. BTW, I loved the comment about the most important element of playing is to enjoy it, just have fun. Truly IS the most important.
It would be amazing for Ellen to connect with Yoyoka and Rachel Flowers and jam on some ELP! They could totally pull it off, I have no doubts! When I hear her play and sing I get teary eyed. Just truly amazing!
Everyone who plays music should be having this much fun doing it as this young lady. I have been playing for more than 50 years and I became a fan the first time I heard her play and sing.
Amazing interview Ellen; "For Bass Players Only " , was so nice to get to know you better 😀 KEEP ON GROOVING GIRL!! , a devoted fan forever, lots of pure admiration from Australia 🇦🇺 cheers 🍻 👏
I first saw her videos a couple years ago when she had about 30k followers .... what caught my eye was her big smile and she obviously enjoys what she's doing. Its been enjoyable watching her grow and learn, her future is bright.
I've watched a couple of her videos back to back enjoying every moment so talented and natural when responding to questions. I wish her the very best in the future as our world changes so does our every day choices. As a fan of the bass I'd like to think Ellen is going to stay on the musical path but she's still young and school is still a place in her life at least for the next few years. She may develop interest in other fields. But here and now we love her for her talent in bass playing and bringing a smile to our faces when talking God bless Ellen and her wonderful Mom and Dad.
Very impressive how she conduct herself for her age is not very common, BRAVO young Lady ! Ellen you really ROCK! may God continue to bless you forever!
What an inspiring interview, you must have the most loving parents around. Keep believing in yourself and you will be a fantastic base player. THE NUMBER ONE BASE PLAYER…
How modest is she! And the confidence she has as she converses with john. She is an excellent artist, I think Een grew up with heavy metal and that's what she is used to hearing . The closest thing to that is rock& roll . He is a classically trained musician . The bass is as important as the drummer. They keep the group in time and rhythm with the music.
I watch and comment on her channel . I'm not a bass player but I know music but not like you guys. I always try to encourage Ellen because I recognized her talent. I don't think she really needs encouragement but every little bit helps.
This little girl has got a very very bright future, she not only is on the right musical path at such an early age, but more importantly she is intelligent and seems a nice person. Well done young lady and your parents must be so so proud.
I have to admit that Ellen inspired me to play the bass! I've played guitar over 50 years and have played bass in the past. ( I'm 65 but if you add that together I'm 11) Now I have my own bass and a good amplifier. I hope I can be as good as you someday Ellen!

Thanks for that great interview. Ellen is a jewel. Already made this world a better place. Credits to her parents, who managed the split between natural kid, music skills and social media star, very well so far. I played the bass for 30 years but can't wait to see and hear more of her.

I believe that for all of the reasons that Ellen's dad has her recite the artist, album, and year for her baselines is he wants to teach her how to provide due credit to the artist instead of taking all of the credit for herself. Comedians who are ethical professionals will give credit for a joke that another comedian developed. Unlike Carlos Menstealia.
@@ForBassPlayersOnly thanks for the nice reply! I was thinking of her saying how she tried many instruments in the beginning, got bored and tried other instruments and then stuck with the bass. I played violin at age 6 in a school orchestra.Dad was military so we moved 2 yrs later. No violin teacher at the new school, so I played a few brass instruments, accordion,, and started on bass in senior year of highschool (1967). Played professional bass in a disco/funk band. Five years ago I fell in love with the cello after seeing Hauser but also kept my bass. I was thinking this girl might catch a bug for a cello if her dad got her one. I just joined your channel yesterday and plan on exploring your videos. YT is a good platform for exposure to play various instruments. Thanks again sir for providing the content you share.
Sorry to disappoint you, Robert. There are plenty of places online to hear Ellen play. This interview was so you could get to know a little about her as a person. Thanks for the feedback! 😀
I lover her giggle when she nails a song...she is a joy to watch play.
Yes she is! Thanks.
Yes!!...it's OK to have fun as you go along!!!!❤
I think a new world record has been set for the most *loveable* musician alive! She is just so sweet, so innocent and SO talented!

It's great that this little girl is doing more than just staring at a phone all the time. She is so obviously talented an intelligent

480p? WTF are we back in the 60s?
🤔
I believe that for all of the reasons that Ellen's dad has her recite the artist, album, and year for her baselines is he wants to teach her how to provide due credit to the artist instead of taking all of the credit for herself.
Comedians who are ethical professionals will give credit for a joke that another comedian developed. Unlike Carlos Menstealia.
Could be. Thanks, William!
Sina is a verry good drummer maybe you guys should talk
👍
On types of music she likes to play, how about classical music?
I'd love to see what she thinks of HAUSER on the cello.
That might be a bit of a stretch, but who knows? 😀 Thanks, Judson!
I clicked on to hear Ellen. I clicked off WITHOUT hearing Ellen!
Sorry to disappoint you, Robert. There are plenty of places online to hear Ellen play. This interview was so you could get to know a little about her as a person. Thanks for the feedback! 😀
She is just too cute!
Yes she is!
You can tell that when she gets older she’ll be a very pretty woman
👍
Nothing I don’t love about these guys…obviously her dad is a professional musician
Yeah, she comes by it honestly, for sure. Thanks, James!
How did you open a conversation with ellen I can't find
I pray she gets the opportunity to meet Paul before its too late. He ain't getting any younger.
😁
her dad shld have helped her on the video ...remember she is only 11 yrs old
Maybe. All things considered, though, she did pretty well on her own. Thanks, Big Steve.
Helped her do what? She sounded just fine.
He was right there but not on cam.
