I had an opportunity of getting back stage because the drummer Gary H was my lifelong friend since my days at music college in Leeds. And at 11.27pm on the 6th May I met John McLaughlin. Then I discovered that my college pal from Leeds (Gary Husband, he of Jack Bruce, Level 42 etc etc) was playing with the 4th Dimension. There was my invite. I chatted with John. Ellen was obviously star struck but the musical connection and respect for each shined through. Loved her reaction to Steve asking if she had this pedal and not only gave it to her but signed it as well. It's amazing the inspiration she gets from older music as many great musicians do and at the same time she is just a wide eyed little girl absorbing all the she can. Great job mom and dad, your raising a shooting star. 🎸🤩😍💫
I've seen Vai in plenty of video interviews and he always is the same guy. Real unassuming and pleasant. Ibanez hit the jackpot when they signed him up years ago.

I'm nearly 68, and I felt like this wonderful little lady in the vid. Like meeting Father Christmas for the first time. I can die happy now.
Hard not to like Steve Vai. He always has such a great attitude in interviews.
I've seen Vai in plenty of video interviews and he always is the same guy. Real unassuming and pleasant. Ibanez hit the jackpot when they signed him up years ago.
She absolutely made my day when she said "who" when asked if she liked Miley Cyrus. Edit; I just saw a video where Ellen plays with her father, Hovak Alaverdyan, the brains and driving force behind the band Octavision and it's no wonder she's so good, she has one hell of a teacher!
Same here. 😂
Because u think a kid liking Miley Cyrus is bad?typical metal elitist lol.
@@AmritenduRana31082000 She is not bad. She just not that god as she is famos. Fame today is much less about talent and much more on trend. Kids today do not recognize tallent almost at all. That is why this is on a spot with that comment for me.
@@AmritenduRana31082000 She's a young, impressionable girl who clearly has amazing taste in real, actual rock music instead of mindlessly worshipping someone like Miley who's performances have become nothing but a sex-driven "look at me half-dressed singing watered-down flash-in-the-pan pop tunes that someone else wrote for me while I rake in the dough" ...can you *honestly* say what Miley Cyrus has become in her career is a good or wholesome image for a talented young girl to be emulating? Give us all a break with your "mental elitist" BS - it's not applicable here...thanks.
@@AmritenduRana31082000 No it just proves that this 10 year old has a better understanding of what is musically good and what is not, something you don't seem to understand at all. If Miley's singing and musical ability was better than her twerking maybe Ellen would have heard of her but at 10 she's light years above the Cyrus'.
THAT was AMAZING!!....Such a sweet adorable and talented young lady!!...and to mom&dad?.....GREAT job on letting her STILL be a little girl!!........y'all ROCK!!🤘...and Steve Vai...WHAT a gentleman!!
Vai is so kind, so amazing,
So wonderful human being,
I love❤️⚘️him greatly!
Thank you, legend!!!!❤️❤️⚘️💯💯💯💯👍
We love Ellen because she embodies what music is about. Yes she’s talented. But her passion, authenticity, curiosity and joy are why I’m always excited when new contents is out. We have something to learn from this 10 years old child.
Love from Montreal, QC
Acadienne vivant aux Pays-bas :). Mon paternel est gaspésien. VAI est une légende, et Ellen est une jeune légende déjá!!
I just hope that her parents don't force her too much into it. I've met a few prodigy kids who absolutely hated everything about music, yet they were forced into it by their parents, since they were so talented in the craft.
@@T4gProd Ellen doesn't seem forced into it --- always smiling and happy when playing bass
@@fredwerza3478 well yeah, I haven't seen anything alarming. But then again, it's just UA-cam, so anything can be cut and edited. I have no reason to believe that she's forced into all of this.
I just worry a bit, she's just a child.
@@T4gProd I was forced into playing Little League when I was 10 --- every photo shows me frowning LOL
Steve Vai is a CLASS ACT! that was wonderful! What a beautiful soul Ellen is and I wish success and health for her🤘
This is so awesome! My face is hurting from smiling so much. Steve is a genuinely nice person and it was great to see Ellen's reaction to meeting "the legend".
Steve Vai Such a humble Gentleman, Ellen and Family such amazing human beings!!!!
Val is such a legend. So down to earth and inspiring!
She's a sweetheart, and her family is super supportive, and Vai with all his talent, is a class act....It's so cute how she loves the yard, and stays on the walkway and doesn't tread on the grass
I love Ellen’s excitement as she’s walking to the front door! And I love that you can hear Steve Vai playing as soon as you open his front door - WITH A METRONOME, FOLKS!! Even world class players use them, so get on the “metronome train” if you want to get your playing on point!
Click track but, yeah, same thing.
@@73challenger5031 used as a metronome.
I was thinking the same thing. I really should start using one to practice
I've been playing for 35 years and never used a metronome...I'm gonna try it.
@@robertcronin6603 back in college for music, I thought I was hot shit and 'didn't need no Metronome'. I got an electric Franz as a gift, started practicing scales and licks with it, and I immediately got better. It brought me to the next level. I was VERY surprised but I haven't stopped telling folks to just do it.
It was heart warming watching this video. I am sure as she grows she would get a garden and swings as she aspires for. Wish her a wonderful musical future. Loads of wishes from India 👏👏 Steve Vai is a legend
🎉
Observei a inocência dessa criança ao não aceitar o presente do steve. Não entendeu o valor que estava ganhando. Esse é o significado de ser como uma criança e entrar no paraíso!
It makes you so happy to see this! Steve is a gentleman!
How precious. So cool watching her being so excited, yet a little shy, and so humble. What a little treasure Ellen is.
What I love about Steve, is he is like an official mentor to so many young musicians. There was a young lady named Yasi that he started mentoring well over a decade ago and she ended up being an amazing guitarist! This was so cool!
I usually don't have any thing not even close to emotion, but my happyness in seeing her hapiness took me half a drop of tear.
Congrats! you deserve it.
Really, I was so happy and shed a tear when she named all the very good old bands she listens, especially Pink Floyd! No wonder why she is doing so very well, she knows the very good music!
THE BEST musician of all time!!! This is awesome!!
Steve Vai is just such an amazing person. He is just so humble. For him to take time like this is just so GREAT
It's amazing when you find out the rock legends you grew up listening to are also great people! What a total class act!!!!
That was just beautiful and heart warming. So happy for you Ellen, Steve is the man ( that was pretty darn cool#stevevaihimself
Steve Vai’s playing touches all of our souls because of what a beautiful soul he is!
What a truly unaffected and genuine human being.
What a beautiful thing to see. D
So wonderful! ❤
Being a guitarist and a Steve Vai fan since the early 80s, i find this video absolutely amazing.
I don't know if I'm more excited for Ellen, her parents, for me dreaming to be in the same situation, for Steve being so cool and kind, for Thomas being the man behind every detail, for everybody enjoying the beautiful moment. Way to go Ellen!
Love this!!! Ellen is such a bright light in a dark world. Steve has been one of my guitar heroes since he played with Zappa. Such a kind and gracious man. Thanks for sharing this awesome day with everyone!
Steve Vai....... legend.....has an old quilt on his couch. Love it. And so gracious with the young lady
Such a luck girl. I belive this will be one of the most unforgetable experiences in her life. When I was watching this video, I was so excited like I was meeting Steve Vai myself as a child. Wish they all the best.
