    Typical reactions from the crew when they review a bad album:
    FEEFO: "I can't fuck with this album, I just can't... This.. this shit just don't bump in the whip, man- I just can't fuck with this, man, I just can't..."
    BEEZY: "This was just some... terrible shit! I will not listen to this... ever again! I'm fucking mad!"
    KEN: "(sighs)" (....) "this... nah, man."
    MYKE: "This album. was fucking. HORRENDOUS."
    (MODEST MEDIA: "Don't you fuck with the first track?")
    MYKE: "No!"

    i used to think 808s was some bullshit until i took another listen and focused on the drums and "catchiness while still sadness" factor. He actually pulled that album off well.

    A recent example.. Magna Carta.. Holy Grail. The commercials in promotion for the album made it seem like Jay was cooking up a real focused piece of work. Turns out it was just some lazy lyricism with flavor of the month production all over.

    I'm gonna say that Recovery was the biggest Hip-Hop album letdown for me. I'm glad Em was able to start cleaning up his life, but I thought it made for some really corny songs. I liked maybe 2 of the tracks on the album, but in comparison to the rest of his albums, that made it a big disappointment for me.

    • @187Wretched
      @187Wretched 10 років тому +3

      gammakrush905 When the last two albums were Hell On Earth and Infamous yeah it's disappointing especially because of the fact it took 3 year to release after hell on earth and it was when Mobb Deep started to shift towards a commercial sound. Yeah Infamy is a worse album but by that time the Mobb had already fallen off in my eyes.

    • @gammakrush905
      @gammakrush905 10 років тому +2

      Phvrvoh Phonk "Murda Muzik" doesn't sound commercial tho. They were still on their game, but for the last time. After Prodigy's solo record (which also was pretty good), that's when the group stopped making an effort.

    By the way, Rick Ross didn't kill 50 Cent's career. If you can recall, 50 ruined his credibility as a drug kingpin/street rapper by interviewing his baby mother who gave a whole lot on him being a CO, not paying child support, having rented jewelry, etc. He then published her story about it all in a book entitled "Tia's Diary Deeper Than Rap: Clarity, Truth, and Exposure", just like Ross's 3rd album title. What makes popularity determine what rapper won a battle? Besides, most hip-hop fans are fake and fickle within mainstream. They only care about what's hot or popular. If there is anyone who slaughtered Ross lyrically, it wasn't 50 Cent but it was Lloyd Banks on a diss track called "Officer Down". Now who won?

    Food and Liquor 2 was a bigger disappointment than Lasers to me. Going into Lasers I knew it was going to be poppy fluff but it still had some quality songs. I honestly felt tricked once I listened to FL2 because it was so boring and Lupe was rapping at the same tone the whole album. And I actually liked the singles! I just listened to Heart Donor start to finish for the first time a month ago. I agree with C-Town from the review that people wouldn't like FL2 if Lasers never came out. I haven't listened to any of the stuff from his new album just to not get too hyped up.

So I was gonna consider it a disappointment here, but realized I can't honestly say that if I've never heard it myself. So I listened to it and I actually really like how it sounds. I haven't really listened to the lyrics, yet, but I can't say this is a bad album. I like it.

    Encore has to be biggest disappointment in hip-hop, but I still think it's brilliant that it's called Encore. Like Em knew he can't make a good album, but the label and fans didn't want him to quit (remember how he had that Curtain Close skit on Eminem Show like he' was about to Say Goodbye to Hollywood, pun intended). I'm not defending it, it's still wack but I think it's still amazing that even at that Encore time, he was still 110% self-aware.

    Four obvious ones:
    Canibus - Can-I-Bus. So much promise leading up to this and then a complete letdown.
    Souls of Mischief - Their 2nd album wasn't even in the same league as their first.
    Kurupt - Kuruption - All the f-ing spitting capacity in the world spread over a double album of themes from both coasts and he didn't do sh*t with either one aside from that C-Walk track on the WC disk.
    Ras Kass- Soul on Ice - To be fair, I like this album. And, if you give it time, it grows on you and you can appreciate how brilliant his wordplay is. But, ETC should have been a single, and the Diamond D remix of the title track should have been on the album. He just needed a few more head-nod joints and this shit would have rung out on both coasts.

Lupe's Lasers is an absolutely, MAJOR disappointment haha. Tical 0: The Prequel from Method Man. Actually I feel there's a few other solo WuTang projects on there, can't name em off top. Nas' I Am and Nastradamus IMHO..ALSO him changing the name of his album to "N", instead of originally intended. Can't think of any more right now. Spur of the moment comment. Jay-Z's Kingdom Come is for one of the most disappointing rap albums of all time for me. At the time it was all this hype about Jay coming out of retirement for this and everybody was hyped. And then it dropped I remember saying I wasted my time. Luckily he came back and did American Gangster.

    @Andrew Woodrup.
    It has nothing to do with "hating on". It has to do with crafting an album as a whole. Which is a flaw of Em. Actually, the norm is placing him on top 5 ever. Although Em is obviously a skilled a rapper, we are talking albums. You can spit & write lines & lines & lines but an inconsistent album or string of consistently inconsistent albums should be a serious concern. It's like Nas. Clearly Nas can rap, one of hip-hop's greatest story tellers however, he makes inconsistent lps.

    Just the first thing that comes to mind for me: the first time I heard Tech N9ne was on a cypher (with Kendrick Lamar, Big KRIT, MGK, BOB) and I thought he had some really interesting delivery so I was excited to hear one of his albums and checked out 'Something Else'. Yeah... left me wishing that I had listened to something else.

    You guys talked about Charles Hamilton. One dream for the channel is done. Interesting to see that Feefo liked him. Didn't expect that. He made 8 great projects though . I get what Myke has to say because certain things that he did over shadowed the music. That being said. I don't know how much of a disappointment he is considering the work we did get
