+The Boy There's nothing wrong with Ghost writers as long as you don't try to play that you do write your own stuff. Ghostwriters in fact have changed rap
I agree with Myke. Do whatever the hell you want because you want to. "Other peoples opinion is not your business" They'll laugh at you, but hey at least you'll always have the utmost respect for yourself. Which is the point.
Hip hop came out of rebellion and breaking rules, look at the elements of the culture: Tagging (seen as vandalism), Breakdancing (not conventional, dangerous) DJing (sampling and ripping other music), Rapping (not singing or conventional songwriting). Because it is now a leading genre, questions like these will arise. However, rap music is probably the tantamount example of a genre that should have no rules applied to it.
I agree with Myke 100% on this shit, man. I been thinkin this exact same shit for so long now, which is why I hate that whole "real hiphop" thing people in comment sections keep talking
Completely agree with Myke, imagine if they enforced rules in art, they wouldn't be completely free to express themselves. Same goes for music. If rules were enforced a ton of the creative, game changing hip-hop songs of the 21st century wouldn't exist.
I heavily rock with Beezy's rule. That's how you survive in the game. Vince Staples, DOOM, iLL Bill, Gambino, Slug, Chance, Kendrick - if they didn't rap how they want while still retaining a distinctive identity, they wouldn't be where they, nor who they are, in this day.
I agree with Myke. Why should there be more rules to hip-hop? Why should people give a shit what another person wears if their rap-craft is good? Let them do what they want and have the fans/critics respond. I wonder if the next @AskDEHH will be about the Lord Jamar responses. I feel like that would be an interesting conversation.
man, i really love this channel. been watching for couple years... you guys are the only place that has hip hop discussion between multiple people. its like NFL Live on ESPN for hip hop
The only rule in Hip Hop should be be yourself/and be authentic. If you want to wear a kilt then wear a fucking kilt, if your think you can rap go for it. But just don't be fake about what your talking about. If you never sold drugs then don't talk about that shyt. Rap about what applies to you. That's it.
hip hop, like all art, is all about perception. Authenticity died a long ass time ago. The art is effective if you can use your voice and persona and image to reinforce the things that you're saying. it doesn't have to be real. I would love to hear more hip hop about things other than being from the gutter/how hood you are though. Too many privileged kids rapping about selling drugs out here lol. you can rap about your privileged life, just be creative, make it interesting. no matter how much money a person's parents had, they still have something to say...
DxtsMusic But even with everything you named the core of it is coming from someone who from the setting. Ice T talked about thing from "his", it's well documented that 50 Cent sold drugs and was shot 9 times. It's also now the Biggie got arrested for selling crack. I'm saying your persona doesn't meet your reality, then you shouldn't be rapping.(or at least rapping about things you know nothing about and have't been apart of)
I agree with Myke. Putting rules and regulations in Hip-Hop would go against what the culture originally stands for. The beautiful thing about the culture is that it allows artist to express themselves however they pleased, whenever they pleased. If there were any rules to Hip-Hop, then it wouldn't be a culture to begin with. it'd just be another religious system, for a lack of a better term.
I totally agree with myke's answer. A music genre doesn't define the artists, but artists create and play with the genre. Genres change but never disappear, and if they do they always end up recovered by a new artist that reinvents it somehow. Its evolution. Thats my opinion
Myke is the only person using any kind of logical thought progression in this video. I disagree with a LOT of his album reviews but he is my favourite amongst them because he has the most sense.
i like how modest media brought up odb. we all know he isn't a "good" singer in the sense that he could do a duet with sade or marvin gaye, but from a hip hop perspective, he has so much style, personality and he was so raw with it that you can't help but like it as a hip hop fan haha
Myke C Town hit it right on the nail. Right about hip-hop, right about mentioning other genres and you could sense he was making a broad and universal statement. Smart man.
My rule would be, in order to say a rapper is the "best" rapper, you have to have some knowledge of other rappers. I know people are entitled to their opinions and i'm cool with other peoples opinion, I just don't think if all you've heard was 1 album and shit you've heard on the radio recently you can decide who is or who isn't "best" rapper. Eminem is one of the dopest MCs out and if you tell me he's the best i'll respect your opinion and even see why you say it, but if all you've heard is Eminem and you compare him to radio artist or someone without a good catalog, then I won't take your opinion seriously. You should at least listen to other talent before you go around shouting out whos the best, like most 13 year old kids on youtube do.
I'm glad you mentioned this, it's exactly how I feel. I hear people say 2pac and Biggie are the best and the same people don't take the time to listen to other artists like Rakim, Nas, Big Pun, A tribe called quest, or whoever. Even the ones that say Pac and Big are the best don't even listen to their music outside of the popular songs they have. They listen to California Love or Big Poppa but have never heard of God Bless the Dead, So many tears, troublesome 96, everyday struggle, the what, etc. It's all about expanding horizons and this applies outside of hip hop too.
Pretty much seems like Feefo took it as "If you had to enforce a rule" and Myke took it as "If you had the option to enforce a rule". The actual wording of the question was closer to the second but I think Feefo's answer was closer to the spirit of the question. I'm glad Myke said what he did about rules though.
So true when he said let hip hop be ..we gotta let it grow and evolve it cant stay the same or it would die off ..let the fashion grow the slang and the music grow thats what makes hip hop stay interesting
I agree with Myke if there was rules set in hip hop everything today would sound like rapper's delight. Your favorite rapper wouldn't be rapping if there was rules in hip hop. No rules in hip hop allowed the genre to become a global force. Hip hop is the greatest form of expression and putting rules on that is like selling your soul.
There shouldn't just be one rule, there should be a list of commandments. Commandments that allow people to be themselves, but forces them to keep it real and respect the culture of hip hop.
Ahh, the "because it's not" rebuttal. Always a good one.
Dirty Bubble Eats Ass better than Han nothing
feefo and mike always be getting into it and beezy and ken b chillin in the back.
Especially Beezy lol
Mike and ken always fought too lol
Mike is my fav guy on this panel, even agreein with most of his album reviews. There really shouldn't be any rules in hip hop!
+The Boy There's nothing wrong with Ghost writers as long as you don't try to play that you do write your own stuff. Ghostwriters in fact have changed rap
Feefo sounded real insecure
NO FUCKING SEX SKITS
Chill, those are classic
Jevon Watson They're annoying and hard to listen to and most of all completely unnecessary
David Rowe Fr I always have to skip like 20 seconds to play 50 Cent "I Wanna"
The only bad part of Ready to Die
The only rule I would enforce in hip hop is "no biting without citing the source"
Good and well thought-out argument!
And 3 of those 4 elements are completely left out of the mainstream when at one point they were central to the culture.
If modest is sitting down then who is recording???????????????????????????????????????? Ghost recording Modest has been exposed!!
man beezy needs to talk more. i always enjoy his answers the most
I really hope feefo has matured as a man since this. That insecurity came through hard. First time I’m seeing this. Kinda shocked honestly.
They should delete this, can see a cancel situation coming if this gets posted somewhere
@@Amouroso no that's just dumb as fuck
no feefo shouldn't have to change
Lol why should his views have to change? If that's how he feels let him be
I agree with Myke 100% on this shit, man.
Damn Feefo.... you ignent.....
@10:25 "if expressing yourself is getting into the booth singing poorly in kilt..." and myke stuck by this and luckily Jpegmafia made it a reality
My rule is for the artist to be genuine.
feefo is so illogical it's sad. nice guy tho
One rule: Respect those that came before and those that will come after you!
Hahaha, I love Modest Media's little thing at the end about ODB singing.
2:39
Myke: as long as he can rap i don't give a fxck
Sophie: (quietly in the background) but he can't...
LMAOOOOOO
Duuuuuuuuude
This aged super well!!

I don't
One rule, be true to yourself, and reinforce the old rule of no biting allowed.
haha ken said 'Hit you wit a bagpipe' and nobody caught it
One rule: WRITE YOUR OWN SHIT! That would stop a lot of the bullshit out today.
man, i really love this channel. been watching for couple years... you guys are the only place that has hip hop discussion between multiple people. its like NFL Live on ESPN for hip hop

Word up.
Totally agree. As long as you're authentic then I think you can do/be whatever/whoever you like.
Nah, I wanna hear rick ross still talk about being a drug lord because I enjoy it
hip hop, like all art, is all about perception. Authenticity died a long ass time ago. Man I haven't seen sophie since the last convo bout ghost writers she makes me smile.
I swear I enjoy these guys all the time
Good point about ODB at the end.
to feefo: anything that men do will become masculine, not the other way around, bruh.
I've been saying what Myke has been saying for ages dude. Glad to see someone else think hip hop needs freedom of creativity to expand!
One rule: No rules. No limits.
Based God utilises this the most tbh.
Lmao at the dangling nuts
just lost a little respect for feefo
Kinge was instigating hella hard in this one lol
Myke C HAS IT RIGHT when you look at rock music stagnations.
Great channel. Lots of good discussions and points made. Respect.
Ghost Face Killah said it best, "Keep it real, get your own shit man and be original"
My "rule" would be to be yourself 100%.
I totally agree with myke's answer. A music genre doesn't define the artists, but artists create and play with the genre. Genres change but never disappear, and if they do they always end up recovered by a new artist that reinvents it somehow. Its evolution. Thats my opinion
Hip hop is about Challenging and being defiant in any and everything, so I agree, no hip hop shouldnt have any rules.
"No Bitin Allowed"
which rapper did that guy with horsetail mention as favorite rapper?
"he'll beat the fuck out of you in a fucking kilt" lmfao that killed me and tru
Myke is on point with everything he said.
Bruh, Sophie making my knees buckle and I'm lying down right now
I like the appreciation for Brother Ali... it makes me happy to know he is respected.
Ima need Beezy to speak up more too. I can't tell if B actually wants to be there or not sometimes, lol.
Sophie always hating on Nicki lol
Rules defeat the purpose of ART! Artists main reason for existence is to challenge the rules! The only rules in ART any form of ART is Originality!
"They'll hit you with a bagpipe" lmao
One rule in hip-hop? Have fun.
Myke C Town hit it right on the nail. Right about hip-hop, right about mentioning other genres and you could sense he was making a broad and universal statement. Smart man.
Wel said Myke
I agree with Myke, 100%.
Theres only one rule.....there are no rules.
Exactly.
For these videos they need to put Feefo and Myke in the chairs furthest from the camera, their voices just overpower everyone else's.
Damn, Myke nailed it.
My only rule would be...You must be ORIGINAL!!! That way it keeps the culture or the music of the culture FRESH!!!
Please do a review on Nippsey hussel Crenshaw project
myke pulled a kendrick on the whole conversation
So true when he said let hip hop be ..we gotta let it grow and evolve it cant stay the same or it would die off ..let the fashion grow the slang and the music grow thats what makes hip hop stay interesting
But it's not growing, it's completely stagnant now. There's no individuality and lyrics are more dumb down then they've ever been...
Do whatever you want and be passionate about it
Only rule: No biting.
I just can't take anything Feefo says seriously XD
THE RULE IS TO FEEL WHAT YOU ARE MAKING. DONT DO IT IF YOU DONT LIKE IT AND/OR ARENT CONNECTED TO IT. THIS IS ART AT THE END OF THE DAY
beezy hit the nail on the head, BE ORIGINAL !!!
Hip hop had no rules to begin with. And thats the beauty of it.
Whatever you do you bring your best to the mic!
Good lord Sophie is beautiful
A related discussion that would be interesting would be about Lord Jamar's recent comments
I think the no biting rule should come back like it was in the beginning...
Completely agree with Myke
"hip hop ain't supposed to have no rules" - Kanye after 'Graduation'
I'm glad Sophie finnally got in the conversation, with her fine self.
My only rule would be no biting.
Modest Media im so glad you brought that ODB line up, dude couldnt sing but that shit still sounded dope on 36 chambers
Why do I always agree with Mike legit every single time 😂😂😂
was hoping the whole time that someone would mention odb with the singing cos he knew how to pull that shit off, he had it down to a science
I would love to hear mykes list of things that annoy him in hip hop
One rule in hip hop. Don't be fake
wear what you want to wear, i
You guys need to review Lecrae's Church Clothes 2 mixtape!
I agree with myke but he really took over this convo, i dont mind this though.
My rule would just be that you have to give maximum effort or at least have the maximum amount of fun and appreciation while making your music
he said all you see is nuts and shit lmao
they should keep using that line "this is not enforced by any sources so its honest"
there's sign at the door, no biting allowed
You need to review Horseshoe G.A.N.G top ramen, or even their mix tapes or older albums.
There shouldn't just be one rule, there should be a list of commandments. Commandments that allow people to be themselves, but forces them to keep it real and respect the culture of hip hop.
It shouldn't concern you if someone dresses a certain way. As long as you are secure of your image
i always agree with myke yes there should be no rules
